Work Text:

Catra paced the hallway, waiting impatiently for her girlfriend to come out of her classroom. It was 3:10, why was she still in there? The magicat stopped in front of the classroom door and peered inside, getting on the tips of her tennis shoes and placing her hands perpendicular to the small rectangular window.

Her eyes searched through what limited amount of space she could see and made her eyes on the blonde. She was speaking with the teacher and drastically waving her arms around as she spoke. Of course, Adora would be talking with the teacher on the last day of spring break.

Adora pointed to her work on their desk and furrowed her eyebrows. She was probably saying something like, “Mr, I worked really hard on this! I deserve the extra point, I need it for my GPA!” And the poor teacher probably put the damn 100 in the computer a while ago, but when Adora was speaking, she never stopped.

So, to save the teacher from the madness, and to save her own sanity, she tapped on the window. At the sound, Adora looked up and her face split into a grin. The blonde tightened her ponytail and made one last glare at the teacher, before grabbing her backpack from her desk and walking towards the door, making sure to swish her iconic ponytail.

Catra stepped back from the door as Adora came through, irritated, but excited to see her. “Catra, hi babe.” After she spoke, she leaned into her space to kiss her on the cheek. The door shut behind them and they walked, not wanting to lose any more time that was already wasted.

They turned a corner and made their way out of the school and to the student parking lot. “So, are you ready for the party tonight?” Catra asked, looking at the blonde from the corner of her eye, her tail waving.

Adora was looking through her backpack for something, her tongue stuck out in concentration; she must not have heard Catra’s question, so the magicat asked again. “Adora, are you excited for the party?” She smiled hopefully, trying to get Adora to pay some attention to her. “Oh, um yeah, I’m excited.” She said, but her words came out distantly, she was still unfocused.

It was break, not time for backpacks or school work. The cool air whipped around them as they walked, Adora was still absent in the conversation and it irked Catra a little. She had always been like this, studious and hard to make relaxed, but this was the last break for a while, they needed to soak it in.

The backpack was taken from the blonde, her mouth agape at the action, but Catra didn’t feel bad; it was for her own good. “Adora, no more backpack. Everything is already graded, there’s nothing else you need to turn in, okay?” Catra assured her. Luckily they made it to her car and she unlocked the door with her keys and threw the backpack in the back seat.

Catra didn’t even have to be at the school, Adora, for some reason didn’t have any off periods, so she was in school all the time. So, she came from home to pick her up. “Get in the car, Adora. I’m lacking kisses.” She said, because she truly was. Apparently, they weren’t allowed to make out in school because it was “PDA”.  Fuck PDA, she wanted those pink lips all over her.

Adora rolled her eyes and giggled, sitting in the car and closing her door. Catra’s car was tinted to the state’s maximum limit, so her and Adora could make out anywhere they wanted without worry of peeping Tom’s. Once they were fully in the car, Catra pulled the taller girl in for an air sucking kiss, one that left them both breathless. Adora’s hand gripped at her shoulder when she bit down her neck. Then, she made her way back up the pale skin and to her lips, taking her bottom one in her teeth. She came back with a satisfied ahh. And planted her hands on the wheel.

“Just what the doctor ordered.” Catra said, turning the ignition over and starting the vehicle, making the muscle car rumble with power. She smirked at her girlfriend, but saw her making an uncomfortable face. “What wrong?” She asked worriedly, furrowing her brows. Adora looked at her and shook her head, “you went to the doctor?” Catra bit back a laugh and took her hands off the wheel to stroke back her hair. “No, I was just trying to sound cool.” Adora nodded and looked relieved, “okay.”

Catra focused back on getting ready to drive, putting one of her hands on the wheel, the other on the gear shift. Once on the road, Adora got to changing the station to a funky pop song. Then, she smiled at her girlfriend and rolled the windows down, reveling in the moment. The blonde sang horribly next to her, but Catra took it in, glancing at her for seconds at a time. “Go faster.” Adora said, wildly looking at Catra, an adventurous look in her eyes.

She pressed her foot harder on the pedal, the car thrumming from the increase in speed. Adora was going crazy next to her. She took her hair out of the ponytail, the blonde tresses flowing in the wind. Catra grinned, but she had to slow down. The neighborhood they were about to be in was full of bible thumpers and old people, they despised Catra and everything she represented. Her rebellion, her lesbianism, her sexy body. As she slowed, she turned to look at Adora, whose hair was all kinds of crazed. But, her expression contradicted it entirely.

Adora was a sheltered, good little cheerleader, and Catra was a defiant, bad girl—According to rumors. Truth is, she’s not any of that, they were just assumed, but that was okay. She knew that she was in the top 5 in her class, along with Adora, and she worked her ass off. She was on the soccer team and got along great with everyone, people just assumed the worse.

“Wow, I never get tired of you doing that,” Adora gasped out breathlessly, trying to get her hair back to normal. When they got to a red light, Catra did it for her, making her hair look flawless, as it always did.

“Then I’ll keep doing it princess.” Catra smirked and put the pedal to the metal, seeing the light turned green and messing up Adora’s hair once again. She whooped and yelled, sticking her head out of the window, soaking up the afternoon sun.

At this point, they were just driving in circles, wasting time. They had to go to Adora’s house at some point, to change and all that, but it was fun like this, alone. “Hah, that was fun. But we gotta head to my place, I picked out something for you to wear!” Adora sighed blissfully, turning to face Catra and rolling her window up, the magicat doing the same.

“Hmm, it’s not something frilly, isn’t it?”

“Oh, definitely. Tons of sparkles and sequins.”

Catra tutted and looked at Adora, then she responded to her. “Well I’ll make sure I look extra hot in it.” Adora smiled at her and kissed her cheek, and Catra tried her hardest not to blush too hard.

“Hi Mara! Catra and I are just gonna be in my room!” Adora said, taking her shoes off and pulling Catra upstairs, only giving her a second to wave at Adora’s aunt.

They rushed up the stairs and into the blonde’s room, Adora hurriedly closing the door behind her.

“Sit.” Adora ordered her, pointing to the bed. The magicat did as she was told and got on the bed, crossing her legs waiting for what was next. The tip of her  tail was thumping on the mattress, a steady duh-duh, along with Adora’s clock ticking the seconds by. A sound of a phone ringing caught her attention, it was Adora’s, she kept her own on silent, not wanting the bothersome notifications bombarding her time with her girlfriend.

“Can you see who it is? I’m getting your outfit ready.” Adora said, putting together pieces of clothes, throwing hangers around and huffing. So, Catra flipped the phone over from where it sat on the bed, the buzzing tickling her hand. Oh.

“It’s Sparkles.”

“Oh shit! Answer it! Answer it!” Adora said, turning around and dumping the clothes on the bed, then got closer to be in the phone’s camera. Catra tapped the answer button and the couple waited for the call to go through.

Glimmer Moon, Adora’s friend—okay, she was Catra’s too. Answered the phone, her large grin showing on the screen.

“Hey Guys!! Ready for the party? I don’t want to be calling later because you “lost track off time”.” She said, doing quotes with her fingers. Catra smirked at Adora when she said that, perfectly clear what she meant.

“Maybe, I don’t exactly plan when me and Adora—” The blonde covered her mouth, rolling her eyes. “Yes, we’re going to be ready, no fooling around this time.” Adora confirmed, still holding a hand over Catra’s mouth. And since she was holding the phone, she couldn’t swipe at her.

“Ugh, sure. Bow, tell them.” Glimmer said, turning the phone to show her boyfriend’s profile. He was driving and glanced at the phone to speak. “Yeah, uh don’t be late.” He said, not really convincing Catra of anything. Adora took her hand away and spoke to Bow.

“Hi, Bow!”

“Hi, Adora!”

Catra rolled her eyes. “Yeah, we all saw each other today…” Adora shot her an angry look and she caved. “Hey Bow.”

“Aw, hi Catra! Best Friend Squad Party!” Bow said, elated; pumping a fist in the air. Glimmer turned the phone back to her, using it as a mirror more than a way to communicate.

“Uh, Glimmer. We’re still on the phone.” Adora supplied, making her stop.

“Oh yeah, haha. We’re going to Bow’s at 8, to pregame. Be there.” She sweetly ordered, leaving no room for argument, then before either of them could speak, she hung up.

“Damn, she’s hardcore.” Catra said, putting Adora’s phone in her lap.

“Uh, yeah! Almost all of the school is going to be there.” Adora explained, stroking Catra’s short hair back, making her mewl.

As if in a trance, Adora brought her hand back, then got up and picked up the clothes she haphazardly put on the bed.

“Okay, jacket or no jacket?” It was Adora’s signature look, it always suited her.

“Jacket.”

Then, Adora went through some more choices for herself, Catra not paying much attention. She knew her girlfriend was hot in anything, what did it matter? The magicat played on her phone for a while, Adora finished with her outfit and moved on to her own.

“Okay, we’re both done,” Catra put her phone down and looked to the outfits hanging on the door. “Adora, you’re a dork.” She commented, getting off the bed and to the outfits. They had about three hours till they had to be at Bow’s so..

She put a hand on Adora’s shoulder, her eyes moving from inspecting the clothes to her body. A smile turned into a smirk when she touched Catra’s hand and bent down a little to kiss her, open mouthed and hot.

“Why does my phone say 8:30, and why weren’t you here thirty minutes ago?” Glimmer asked, somewhat pissed at Catra and Adora’s late appearance.

“Uh, we’re here. That’s what matters.” Catra said, blowing past Glimmer and into the home, seeing Bow in the kitchen.

“Hey Bow, whatcha doing?” She said, leaning on the counter next to where Bow was struggling, holding some bottles of liquor, his hassle making them clink together satisfyingly.

“Uh, I was getting these out of the liquor cabinet so we could pregame.” He said, still fumbling with the delicate items. Catra took pity on him and helped, taking two out of the four he had in his hold.

“Thanks.”

“No problem. So, where are your Dads? This is not something you do with parents sleeping upstairs.” The magicat questioned, not wanting to be caught doing something like this.

“Oh, they went on a conference thing. I don’t really remember what it was about… maybe ancient linguistics?” He said, shrugging and walking to the set of stairs he had in his house.

“Glim, Adora, come on, we’re going upstairs.” He announced, moving his shoulder over to gesture his movements. He then carefully walked up the carpeted stairs and led the group to the game room/ living room area. And if Catra was being honest, Bow’s house was huge—well, I had to be considering his large family.

“Oh! Who wants to play pool? Whoever loses takes a shot?” Glimmer proposed wagging her eyebrows up and down. The group agreed, Bow going back down to get some shot glasses.

“So, who wants to challenge me first?” The short girl said, challenging the quad.

Catra smirked and leaned over the table, staring at Glimmer. “You’re on.”

“I knew it was going to be you, Catra.” The purple haired girl said, eyes squinting.

“Ugh, they always do this,” Adora whined.

“Just let it happen,” Bow said, sighing.

And the game was on. Due to Catra’s keen eyesight and strategizing skills, the game was already given to her to begin with.

“You did that on purpose!” Glimmer squealed, pointing at Catra with the pool stick, the brunette just shrugged, turning to see Adora staring at her.

“I’m just good at this game, right Babe?”

“You sure are.” Adora said dreamily, smile going to her eyes.

Glimmer made another just and completely missed, the white ball going into the hole. She huffed and handed the stick over to Catra, moving when Catra came over to where she was.

“This one’s for you, Babe.” Catra said, removing the white ball from the hole and where she wanted, setting up the perfect shot. She lined the stick up and eyed the 8 ball, then… woosh, it went in.

“Drink up Sparkles.”

“Ugh!”

Catra went over to Adora, reveling in her victory, and gave her a solid kiss on the lips. Then, she leaned back, a hand on Adora’s shoulder. “Actually… I could go for a drink.”

“You’re driving, Catra!” Adora reminded her, sternly looking into her eyes. At the expression, Catra made a “mrphh” sound and stopped, “Okay, sheesh. You can just drink for me.”

Adora’s face morphed into a smile and she kissed her cheek. After the kiss she walked away, leaving Catra longing for a hint of alcohol. Maybe if Adora got close enough, she could smell it on her breath. So, Catra watched as her friends led her further into designated driver doom, heading over to the couch and slumping onto it.

Bow lined up three shot glasses and carefully poured straight vodka into it, it was one way to get buzzed alright, and Catra was semi glad not to be the one partaking in it. Her eyes then fixed on her girlfriend, dead set on making everything a competition; the blonde had her eyes squinted as she held the base of the glass, then she held it tighter and brought it to her lips, taking it down.

“Blegh!” She exclaimed, then laughed, shaking her head, ridding the taste from her mouth. Glimmer and Bow supposedly did it at the same time as her, both putting empty shot glasses back on the counter. She was so focused on Adora, the action slipped from her vision.

“Adora, you gotta get better at that!” Glimmer half-scolded, hitting Adora’s back, the blonde chuckled and flipped her ponytail, a habit from hanging with cheerleaders.

Catra pulled out her phone and checked the time, those idiots were so unaware of time, it was crazy. They had about 30 minutes or so, but who came to parties on time?—they had an hour at best.

“Catra~” Adora crooned, making her way over to the magicat. She sighed and sprawled over her lap on the couch, despite her being heavier and taller than the magicat.

“Yes, Babe? Don’t tell me you’re tipsy already.”

“What? Nooo. I’m sober.” Adora assured her, stretching her syllables long and exaggerated. Then, she stroked her cheek with her thumb, giggling. “You’re so cute.”

Catra rolled her eyes and held on to her girlfriend. It was embarrassing, but she wouldn’t let her fall on the floor. Adora laughed at nothing and swung her head back.

“Adora, you’re such a lightweight,” Glimmer chastised, coming up to the couple on the couch. Catra furrowed her brows. “Tch, what about your boy back there? He looks pretty wasted to me.” And he was indeed. Bow was laying his head on the counter, unmoving despite him standing. Glimmer’s eyes widened and she went over to him, putting a hand on his cheek and whispering into his ear.

“Haha, Bow’s so silly, but you’re even sillier, Catra.” Adora said, her voice dropping low and her head lifting.

“I’m… silly?”

“Yes, a silly little goose.” Adora said, smiling and tapping her nose, giggling. Catra shook her head, she was such a fucking weirdo.

“I’m gonna take a nap now.” Adora said, neck swinging back and dozing off in Catra’s arms. That’s what happened when you barely got out like this, you passed out in the first hour. Adora wasn’t the type to relax, and luckily this break came, because who knew when she would stop.

Glimmer seemed to rouse Bow awake, they chatted on the other side of the room, getting a little close for Catra’s comfort.

“Can we go when Adora wakes up? Oh wait, I’m driving— we’re going when I say.” Catra said, smirking when Glimmer got irritated, removing herself from Bow.

“Catra, if I had a car—”

“You would what? I’m not getting within a ten foot radius of you driving any car. Didn’t you fail your driver’s test, what four times?” Catra teased, observing Glimmer grow red as a tomato. She approached Catra, death glare in her eyes, and if it was anyone other than Catra, it would work.

“It was three,” she started, but Catra interrupted.

“—And counting Glitter, you still haven’t passed.”

“Bow, tell her I can drive,” she turned to her boyfriend(?) and motioned to Catra. He was shocked, looking between the two girls, then a shy smile creeped on his face.

“No—”

“—Catra’s right. You can’t drive.” Bow said, ignoring Glimmer’s feeble attempt at a protest. The pink and purple haired girl groaned and walked away, heading down the stairs.

“Glimmer—”

Bow chased after her, skipping steps to get down to her in time. She was so dramatic, but considering she was in drama club—theater, whatever it was called, so it wasn’t unusual. Catra didn’t know anything about that. She was a sporty girl, choosing to move around and be active than singing and dancing.

Adora popped up in her arms, a drowsy smile on her face. “Hey.” Catra chuckled and hugged Adora tight, not wanting her to disappear.

“Is this like a small thing or…” Catra asked, driving full speed per Adora’s instructions. The blonde shook her head, “no. It’s like a huge thing, apparently the whole school is supposed to be there.”

“Hmm,” Catra said, slowing down when Adora started tapping on her shoulder rapidly.

“That’s it, isn’t it Glimmer?” Adora asked, turning back to look at Glimmer, who was on the phone. She nodded, hearing her words.

“Hey, Adora!”

Adora whipped her head to see two people outside of the car, both waving to her. The window was already rolled down, so all she had to do was stick her head out. “Oh hi Perfuma! Is the rest of the squad coming?” Adora asked. Catra rested her foot over the break, slowing down for Adora’s conversation.

“Yeah, everyone should be here. Oh hi Bow, Glimmer, and Catra!” Perfuma said excitedly waving to the people in Catra’s car, including her. She waved, then waved behind her, to Scorpia who was nervously waiting to speak, keeping up the pace of the walking conversation.

She waved back calm eagerness in her mannerisms. Her hands shook, she marched instead of walked, the whole thing.

“Well, we’ll see you inside alright?” Adora told Perfuma, the flower girl nodded and gave them a small smile. And that was a sign to tell Catra to get going. She put her foot on the gas, instead of the snail's pace they were going, now went at a… faster speed? They were still in a neighborhood and she couldn’t risk running over any kids.

She crept down the rich culdesac, seeing more and more party goers the further they went. And as she went down, she knew that there would be nowhere to park.

“Ugh, there’s no where to park,” she said, her elbow leaning out of the window. Adora nodded beside her. “What if we let Glimmer and Bow out, then we could find a spot?” Adora suggested, turning around to face their two friends in the back. Glimmer rolled her eyes and fake threw up, while Bow gave a thumbs up. “Sure, c’mon Glimmer.”

So, the two got out of the car and up to the McMansion, holding hands and giggling. Catra furrowed her eyebrows and drove through the circle, heading back up the street. “Are they dating—”

“I honestly don’t know, they’ve been like that since I met them, but now that you mention it, they seem a bit more...together?”

Catra hummed and found a parking spot, pulling her car in; it was snug, but she was a master driver, so this was no biggie. When she pulled the car in park, she turned to look at Adora, eyes blazing.

“You ready?” Catra asked, swiping the blonde’s hair back, seeing her pretty blue eyes. “Yeah, let’s go.” Adora kissed her on the lips and opened her door, she stepped out of it and walked over to Catra’s side. The magicat turned her car off, the subtle rumble coming to a stop. She got out of the car and linked arms with Adora, leaning her head on her shoulder.

They walked in almost perfect synch, coming down the street and up to the house— mini mansion, that belonged to Mermista Salineas. For a person with no pep whatsoever, she sure was good at throwing a party.

“Woah,” Adora gasped out, surveying the scene in front of them. There were people everywhere, in the front yard, in the street—hell, they were even on the roof.

“Yeah, woah is right. Let’s head in.” Catra said, lifting her head and holding Adora’s hand, leading them up to the front door, which was already open, showing them a wide array of drunken teens.

They entered the room, hand and hand, and was met with slurred cheers from all directions. People rushed up to Adora, their hands coming apart in the haste. The blonde shot her a guilty smile and was dragged away by girls in frilly skirts and ponytails.

Then, Catra was met with her team, well only a few of them. Lonnie, Scorpia, Nettosa, and Frosta. “Hey, Catra.” Lonnie said, giving her a hand shake, which she reciprocated with ease. “Sup, Lonnie.”

“Catra, I heard that you and Adora were engaged, it sure looks like it.” Nestossa joked, making the group laugh with her. Catra’s tail flipped with annoyance and she cocked her hip, “oh really? Where’s Spinny at? She’s usually at your hip.”

Netossa tutted and looked around, then back at Catra. “Oh, you didn’t hear? She’s got an internship at this really fancy aerodynamic space place.”

Catra deadpanned. “Okay? Adora is top three in the class, beat that.” She challenged getting close to Netossa, but the girl wasn’t looking for a fight. She put her hands up, smiling. “Woah, Kitty, chill. I was just fucking with you.”

Catra rolled her eyes and huffed, seeing Scorpia looking at her in remorse. Whatever, Catra wasn’t mad, she was just irked, that’s it. She smoothed out her fur, which was disgruntled from the interaction, and walked away, not wanting to see them.

Sure, they were excellent in teamwork, as a force, but not as friends. Their competitiveness blending was not a good idea.

So, Catra headed over to the kitchen, passing by kids drinking and smoking, she wanted to participate so badly, but who would drive her baby? Nobody would drive her car, and that was a fact… Okay, maybe Adora could drive it, but that was a hard maybe.

She got past the bodies, stumbling through the crowds, finally making it to the kitchen. In there was Mermista, the host, and her boyfriend SeaHawk, who was draped over the island counter.

“Ughhh, get off the counter SeaHawk.” Mermista said, sipping at her beer and rolling her eyes. She had her arms crossed and her back was leaning on the expansive kitchen counter. Catra almost didn’t want to touch anything, too afraid of ruining it.

“Hey, Mermista.”

“Hey,” she said, tipping her bottle at her, acknowledging her presence.

SeaHawk turned his head, seeing Catra and rolling off the table, falling to the floor. He then got up, gripping the edge of the marble, leaning to speak to Catra. “Hello, Catra! Glad you could make it. Care to partake in my alluring elixir?” The red haired man asked, motioning over to a brown(?), orange(?) liquid in a punch bowl. Catra wanted to gag.

She shook her head quickly. “Hell no. Plus, I’m driving tonight.”

SeaHawk shrugged, then dipped a red solo cup into the mixture, gulping it down. “Me and my Mermista~, will enjoy it.” He crooned, holding the cup to the heavens. Catra furrowed her brows and eyed the dude as she left, he was so weird.

Catra walked on, she was ready to see Adora now, too fed up with other people. Past the kitchen, she found the second living room. This room was dark and had people sitting and less… craziness.

“Hey, Catra come here!” The magicat heard, her ears swiveling to the sound. She found it from a girl on the couch, Tallstar; she was the team captain.

Catra made her way over, looking around at the other people next to her, she didn’t recognize them, so she felt a little weird. “Sup,” she nodded at her, and she got one back.

“I got nothing to say, just wanted to holla at you—Make sure you’re not wasted somewhere.” She said, looking her up and down. Was Catra kind of jealous of her cool and calmness? Yes, definitely, but she wasn’t going to admit it—still maybe to Adora.

“No, of course not.” She chuckled, averting her gaze away from the older girl, to the floor. She definitely would’ve been if she wasn’t the chauffeur for the night. Then, she looked back at her, “have you seen Adora?”

“Hmm, yeah. I saw her go outside a while ago, she should still be there.” Tallstar supplied, pointing towards the back door. It was slightly ajar and music could be heard from outside.

“Thanks, I’ll- Uh, see you.” Catra said, waving and making her leave, heading out the back door, to the backyard. And not to her surprise, she saw a lot of people. Some in the gigantic pool, some standing around it, and some sitting under the gazebo.

It was a huge backyard, so it took some effort to find her girlfriend, but she spotted her doing flips and whatnot. Luckily, she was far from the pool, but it was still a sight to see.

“Yay, Adora!” Oh, and Bow and Glimmer were there, cheering her on.

“I can… do… a backflip?” She gasped out, bent over at the waist and hands on her knees.

“Do it!”

“Do it!”

“Do it!”

Adora chuckled and backed up, making room to do her stunt. “Okay…I’m gonna do it.” She slurred, slowly getting into place.

Catra watched in horror as Adora got ready to do whatever was about to be done. The blonde straightened up, then straighten her knees and extended her arms up, arching backward into the flip, her hands holding under her knees through the rotation, until she landed, nice and stiff.

“Yay!” The crowd cheered around her, and Catra clapped too. Her girlfriend staggered a bit and smiled around, then saw her; she came over as fast as she could and pulled Catra in a hug. “You saw me?” She asked, rubbing Catra’s back with her hand. She nodded and held tight onto Adora, afraid she would fall.

She may have seemed drunk, but she just did a backflip, so was she really? But, Adora could do those in her sleep. Adora led her over to a fire pit, which Catra missed the first time she surveyed the yard. There was barely anyone there, so it was semi-alone.

They sat on a bench in front of the pit, sitting side by side, thighs touching. Adora laced their fingers and crossed her legs at her ankles.

“Are you alright?” Catra asked, eyeing Adora from her peripheral. The blonde nodded, putting her head on her shoulders and sighing. “I’m just…tired,” she admitted. And that wasn’t a surprise, Catra knew Adora worked herself to the bone. Maintaining a 4.0, cheer, and her social life, took up time, leaving her drained in the end.

Catra wasn’t like that. She could get along with people, but not be the cheery people pleaser that Adora was. And maybe the description was harsh, but it was the truth.

“Well, it’s only Friday. We have the whole week to relax, and hang.” Catra reassured the blonde, her girlfriend smiling and sitting up, putting her legs in Catra’s lap, untangling their hands and wrapping her arm around her neck.

“You’re right. Now, kiss me.” Adora said, closing her eyes and letting Catra lead her into a kiss. She put her hand on Adora’s cheek, then closed her eyes, closing in the space between them. This close, Catra could smell the alcohol on her breath, she gave her a few pecks then a real one, solid and firm. Catra’s hand fell to her back, supporting Adora.

After a minute of inappropriate PDA, Adora pulled back, stroking Catra’s arm. “Wanna go to the pool?” The blonde asked, Catra raised her eyebrows at that, she was not getting in that water.

“Not in it, around it. I want my legs in the water.” Adora explained, eyes unfocused and hazy.

“Did you smoke?” Catra asked, curious.

Adora nodded and stretched, taking her legs off of Catra. She put her index and thumb together, “juuust a little.”

“Okay, let’s get you to the pool.” Catra helped Adora get over to the pool and they sat down, the magicat hugging her knees, keeping herself far from the water, and Adora slipping her shoes and socks off; she put her legs in, one at a time, then wiggled them around.

“Aw, this is fun.” Adora said, leaning back on her palms and kicking her feet in the water. The pool was relatively empty, just a couple of people in it. A person on a floatie, another talking to them, standing in the pool’s shallow end.

“...yeah,” Catra said, bringing her legs up closer to her chest.

“Catra, you’re not going to get wet, come here.” Adora said, pulling at her ankle. She shook her head and chuckled, “I’m fine right here.”

“Okay, that’s alright.” Adora said, giving up and going back to her feet kicking, staring into the water. Catra watched her, observing her ponytail sway as she moved her legs.

“What do you want to do this week? Got anything you want to do?” Catra asked, trying to make conversation when their dialogue stopped.

Adora turned around to look at her and hummed, thinking. “I don’t know. Maybe SixFlags? Or the mall? We could always just drive around in your car.”

Catra tutted and a small smile creeped on her face. “Sure, we can do all of that if you want,” she agreed, reaching out to play with Adora’s blonde’s hair.

Their moment was then interrupted, two bodies coming to their right. Catra moved her eyes over, annoyed. Glitter.

“Hey, you guys want to head to the diner? It’s like 2 am.” Glimmer said, looking at her phone.

Adora shrugged and looked at Catra. It was her car, she could refuse if she wanted, but she was kind of hungry.

“Yeah, sure. Let’s go.”

Adora yawned and leaned into Catra as they sat in the red leather booth of the diner. Catra smiled behind her menu, not wanting Glitter and Arrows to see her blush. Tired Adora was so cute, and she was tired all of the time. Feeling like it subsided enough, she put it down, looking over what she wanted.

“Hmm, I think I want some fries and a milkshake, wanna share?” The magicat asked Adora, her tail touching her thigh. She nodded and reached up to pull Catra’s hand under the table, lacing their fingers together.

“Aw—”

“—shut up.” Catra interrupted, she didn’t know who of the two said it, she just needed it to stop.

“Why? Don’t be ashamed that you like~ her.”

Catra growled and looked away from Bow, tail thumping on the seat.

It was empty in the restaurant, just the four of them, and the waitress, Razz; she was frantically going from in and out of the kitchen. Catra was worried about her, she never missed a day of work and did basically everything, despite having employees.

The cooky woman came up to them, food already in her hands. She set the plates down and gave them a smile, full of missing teeth.

When she looked down, her eyes widened; there was the milkshake and fries she was thinking about ordering. Adora caught sight of it and sat up, eyes wide.

And by the look on Glimmer and Bow’s face, she got theirs right too.

“What. The. Fuck.” Catra said, pronouncing each word slowly. Adora gulped beside her and shook her head, chuckling. “Maybe she heard us?”

Glimmer blinked, frozen. “I don’t know…”

“Guys, I think we should just eat.” Bow said, shoving hash browns into his mouth. The rest of the group followed him, Adora putting two straws in the milkshake and Catra picking up a fry to feed Adora. The blonde opening her mouth and accepting the piece of food into her mouth.

“AW!” Bow and Glimmer screeched.

Catra let Adora finish and scowled at the couple(?). “Shut up, let me feed my girlfriend.” Catra said, face blazing. Adora visibly swooned, her eyes bright.

The girls dropped Glimmer and Bow back off at his house, both giving each other a look at the situation.

“Are they dating? They have to be. Who spends the night at someone’s house like that? Alone!” Catra said, sharing her theory with her girlfriend. Adora laughed loudly, “I really have no idea! I’m just assuming they are; it’s better that way.” Adora decided, tapping the car door.

She sighed and leaned back in her seat. “I’m gonna miss you.” She said, turning to look at Catra. The magicat rolled her eyes. “I’ll see you tomorrow, don’t worry. I just gotta come home tonight. Maybe we can have a sleepover sometime next week?” She said, voice dropping low, sneaking forward to Adora.

The blonde grinned and peeked down at her lips, “Ah, just kiss me now!”

Catra giggled and kissed Adora fully, savoring what she could before the night was over.

“I’ll see you tomorrow, kay?” Adora said, unbuckling her seatbelt and opening the door, Catra nodded and watched Adora go in her house, a bounce in her step.
