You're not as strong as you think you are

Summary:

What if instead of being thrown into a different dimension, Quill was instead thrown into a different server?

Well apparently my brain wanted to know and went "Haha, Hermitcraft brainrot go brrr"

Chapter 1: I don't remember

Chapter Text

Quill’s head hurt. It hurt a lot. He was trying to process what was happening, focusing on his surroundings first. He heard waves lapping at the surface of the ground, but no sand nearby. Maybe he was on an island? He also heard a (albeit muffed) firework going off, it reminded him of the ones Cobra used for his elytra...

Elytra. Why did that seem important? He flattened his ears as he heard a voice nearby, although he was too unfocused to make out anything it was saying. The wolf didn’t open his eyes since 1. His head hurt like hell and 2. He wasn’t in the mood to get his eyes burnt by the sun. It didn’t matter much though as he heard another voice and felt himself being picked up, with some amount of struggle. This guy (or girl?) must’ve been either short or weak as shit, maybe both. He suspected it was the former, though, as his legs dragged across the grass. Quill was sat against what he assumed to be either a building or a tree, likely a building due to the planks underneath him. He finally groaned and opened his eyes, blue meeting... black. He flinched and went to move back but hit against the wall. “Gri, you scared him!”

This ‘Gri’ guy looked slightly guilty and tilted his head towards another person in a suit. “Sorry, Mumbo.”

Gri and Mumbo, odd names indeed. Mumbo looked back at him apologetically. “My apologies, I’m Mumbo, this is Grian.”

Quill’s ear twitched but he didn’t say anything, scanning his surroundings. It looked like he was in a shop, made out of... spruce? He was pretty sure, anyways. Cobra made his inn out of this. That brought something back to his mind. “Wait... where am I anyways?” He asked, pushing himself back onto his feet.

Grian flapped his wings- wait, wings? “You’re in Hermitcraft! ...Aren’t you whitelisted?” He asked.

“...No?” He said nervously, tapping his communicator in hopes to get it to turn on, that way he could get out of here faster. Then he realized it was broken. “...Oh.”

Mumbo tilted his head, looking at it curiously. “I can see if I can fix it, or I can get the Admin to do it. Might take a little while, though.” He pointed out, fiddling with his tie.

Quill sighed and slipped off his communicator, handing it to him. “Do whatever you please, I don’t really have much of a choice if I am to leave as soon as possible..”

Mumbo shot off a message to who Quill assumed was the admin. “Well, you’ll probably need a place to stay-”

Grian cut him off, eyes shining, as much as black voids for eyes could. “He could stay at my old hobbit hole!”

Mumbo mentioned he’d see if he could get a guy named X to give him a server-custom communicator, and Grian dragged him off to a bamboo forest. It was odd, really. All the builds here were... nice. He felt bad considering the most he could do is fish, mine, and make small houses. He had to admit though, Grian’s old house was very nice. He claimed it was just a starter base though, then proceeded to point at a whole mansion on a hill.

The winged man had said Quill was free to make whatever he wished since most of the stuff was leftovers from before he moved. He got to work crafting a fishing rod and began fishing in the lake outside the hobbit hole.

He was only fishing for a short while when everything started to feel hazy. The sun was flickering, his vision was fuzzy, and he was tense. Quill stared blankly and reeled the line back in and headed inside, hiding under the covers and waiting for the feeling to go away. There were sounds of someone moving around the house and he shot up from the bed, stone sword in hand. Someone was trying to kill him. They poisoned him or something, obviously. Why was everything so cold?

“Quill?” A voice asked. Grian was standing in front of him, expression laced with concern. “You’ve been just standing here for the past five minutes..”

Quill blinked, looking around, eyes vacant. “I... I don’t know how I got here.”

“To the house?”

“To the server.”

Grian had started making food for the two of them, listening as Quill tried to describe what his old server was before he ended up here. “Can you tell me a little more about everyone else there?” He hummed, smiling as he placed down a water bottle in front of the wolf.

“Uh... Robo was the admin, Keeb and I owned a half-and-half shop, Mitte once fined him three diamonds for stealing three pieces of paper, Cobra runned an Inn, JJ programmed our communicators, Kit had a shit ton of dogs, Spriggles owned a bee farm near me, and Fuji-” He cut himself off, wincing. “I-I don’t...”

Grian tilted his head. “Everything okay?”

“I don’t remember anything about him.”
