"When Onoki-sensei said he was going to send me to a joint mission with a Konoha jonin, I never expected it to be a boring stealth mission."
The huge tiger strikes. Deidara gathers chakra in his legs and jumps. The tiger paw scratches the stone wall right where his body had been seconds before. As he runs down the corridor, he hears a roar.
"You call this boring?" Obito replies, chased by the biggest snake Deidara has ever seen.
"It would have been boring if those bats we scared off didn't activate that trap, hm."
Or if the Konoha jonin in question wasn't so cute, Deidara thinks.
"You sound..." Obito tries to wrap his chain around the snake's head, "like you're glad it happened."
"Stealth is not my strong point." Deidara creates some clay birds. "Watch this."
Obito's eyes widen.
"Wait! We agreed not to use bombs inside the building! It's going to fall on us!"
"I'm just trying to distract the snake! Do you think I would do something that stupid?"
Some birds fly in circles around the snake's head.
"Good, cause I don't want to be trapped under rocks twice." The snake stares at the birds and starts chasing them instead. Deidara sees Obito take a deep breath. "Thanks. This thing wants to bite me, I think."
"I want to bite you too, hm." Deidara tries not to speak his mind, but fails.
Obito's face turns pink.
"Do you?"
Deidara giggles and jumps behind the tiger's neck.
"Yeah. Can I?"
"I- I mean, not right now." Obito replies.
"Obviously..."
The tiger squirms, trying to catch Deidara, then it crashes against a wall and Deidara falls down. His heart skips a beat while he tries to produce a clay sculpture to avoid hitting the floor, but Obito catches him in his arms. His only eye has turned red and Deidara recognizes the three blades of his Mangekyo Sharingan.
A second later, a vortex swallows then both and they appear in a different corridor, without murderous beasts.
Before he knows, they're kissing. Deidara isn't sure which one of the two did it first but that's the least of his worries.
"Why did you have to use that, hm?" He asked when they stopped for air, his heart beating fast.
"You were about to hit the floor. I... didn't want you to get hurt."
"You told me using that thing damages your eyesight."
"Only if I overuse it. That is why I don't do it often," Obito replies.
"But-"
"I'd rather be blind if that is the price to pay to save my comrade's life," he states, so passionately that Deidara can't help but to admire him.
Crap, he's going to fall in love at this rate. Him. Deidara from Iwagakure. Obito is still holding him.
"Are we going to stay like this all day?"
He smiles when Obito loses that confident gaze and blushes once more. Then he blinks and holds him tighter.
"I don't see why not. We're only inside some ancient catacombs full of traps."
