Chapter Text
TW// Mentions of gun, and there is a little bit of blood, nothing too graphic. Just a heads up! There is a mention of Tommy's vlog gun later in the story, so please keep that in mind :)
"No, we most definitely are not doing that." Tubbo rolls his eyes, refusing to look an excited, jumping Tommy in the eyes.
"Please, Tubster! It'd look so cool, and badass!" Tommy shoves his mask up his face. The red material had fallen down his face while he had been begging his friend.
"Tommy, I'm not going to make a wings contraption for you just 'cause you want to fly! You totally just got that from Philza anyways!"
"I DID NOT! I, TommyInnit, am completely original in every way! I would never steal an idea from the greatest, most amazing superhero ever!"
"Yeah, yeah. Just shut up and patrol better, I guess."
The two walked side by side, their sneakers stomping against the hard concrete. Tommy wrapped his gloved hands around his body, trying to find some sort of warmth. Tubbo, on the other hand, was typing on and messing with some sort of machine he brought along, trying to locate the area where the most amount of crime had happened in the past 24 hours. Tommy allowed his mind to wander. Logstedshire, the place where they resided, was definitely filled to the brim with criminals. Heroes had stopped paying attention to the smaller communities that held crime, even though that's their literal job. The communities relied on vigilantes to help them, and the fact that so many criminals were here didn't help their case. Luckily, Tommy and Tubbo weren't the only vigilantes around. Ranboo, Nihachu, Quackity and Skeppy were there as well. Unfortunately, vigilantes were very much so illegal, meaning their identities had to be hidden, and not revealed under any circumstance. Tommy smiled, as he remembered his first encounter with Quackity.
It was seemingly a quiet night. Tommy was out for patrol by himself since Tubbo had caught the flu hours earlier, and needed to stay at home, according to their legal guardian Puffy. They argued for a bit, Tubbo protesting he needed to help Tommy patrol, Puffy insisting that he was sick and needed to stay at home, and Tommy being slightly offended when Tubbo yelled "He's a literal child, I have to help him so he won't die, Puffy!" and shouted, "I AM NOT A CHILD!". Tommy hummed a quick tune he had heard on the radio when he stopped a car thief yesterday. "He's in your bed, but I'm in your Twitch chat, bum bum bu-"
"HEY! ARE YOU REDINNIT BY ANY CHANCE?"
Tommy turned around, slowly and cautiously. Someone yelling his name like that was very rarely a positive occurrence. Someone wanting to know if he was RedInnit was even a rarer positive occurence. He placed his one of his hands to his chest, his other in his back pocket, ready to pull out his vlog gun incase anything was going to happen. With a swish, someone landed in front of him.
It was a man, wearing a LAFD beanie and blue sweatshirt. A white mask with ruffled feathers framed his face, dark eyes scanning the blonde boy in front of him. In his right hand, a metal baton, and in his left, a grappling hook. His pants were ripped and he had a mischievous grin on his face. He had a couple of yellow feathers in his arms and legs, and smaller wings placed on his back. Tommy realized he was a duck hybrid, not as common but he knew there were still some around.
"Who are you, prick?"
Tommy immediately glared at him, defenses up high. Adrenaline was coursing through his body, his vlog gun pointed at the man in front of him. He was ready to kick someone's ass, and fast.
The man held his hands up in surrender, laughing nervously. His beanie had landed at a weird angle on his head, and he took a few steps back.
"Woah, man! I'm not here for trouble! I just wanted to welcome you to the vigilante club!"
Tommy blinked, confused. It was true, at this time, Tubbo and him were fairly new to being vigilantes. Wait, there was a fucking club?
"Yeah, there's a club! Bad wouldn't call it a club, he calls it an organization, but it's basically a club. It's so dumb, it's literally so much easier to say club, right? Oh, it's a highly secret and hidden organization, no it's not. It's literally a club!" He mocked Bad (whoever that was) in a high voice.
Tommy watched as the man rambled on, rolling his eyes and occasionally motioning to Tommy and saying "You get it, right?". He was quickly becoming annoyed with the beanie guy, so he pointed the vlog gun at him once more. "Ok, I don't care about your stupid organization or club or whatever. Who are you, and what do you want?" Beanie guy stopped, cleared his throat, and continued:
"Right, I'm Quackity. Basically, Bad and Nihachu saw you on the news yesterday and told me to come help recruit you. I didn't want to, I mean, we're pretty packed already, but Skeppy said I had to. He only said that because he likes Bad anyways, the little shit. He is such a simp. But anyways, if you need help or tips, come talk to us! We're over there, our hideout I mean. As long as you don't rat us out or anything, you're always welcome! " Quackity smiled, pointing at a little bakery with a small sign over it, reading "Bad's Bakery :)" .
Tommy nodded slowly, and his unsure expression slowly turned into a small smile.
"Will do, big man. Or should I say, little man?" Tommy laughed
Instantly, Quackity's confused expression turned into rage. "HEY! I AM NOT SHORT OR LITTLE! I AM AVERAGE HEIGHT, FOR YOUR INFORMATION. IF YOU WEREN'T HOLDING A GUN, I'D PUNT YOU OFF THAT BUILDING OVER THERE... HEY! ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO WHAT I'M SAYING!? GET BACK HERE, YOU LITTLE..."
With that, Tommy had bounded away, laughing as he snuck away into the night. That was two weeks ago, he hadn't visited the bakery yet, but he did plan to.
"-eah! I think that's a good idea, we could even change the layout to... Tommy, are you even listening? Tommy!"
Tommy was immediately snapped out of his thoughts to two fingers snapping in front of his face. "Yeah, I am! I swear."
"Sure, big guy. Anyways, apparently, there was a robbery over there. C'mon, we need to go investigate it, see if we can find some clues!"
Tubbo snatched up Tommy's hand and immediately started stalking carefully to the empty site. Tommy followed in pursuit, looking over the brunette's shoulders curiously. They neared the bank, peering inside the shattered windows. The boy in red pushed open the door, which was a huge mistake. The alarms immediately started blaring, alerting every police officer near them. Which, to their oh so amazing luck, was quite a few. Tubbo immediately jumped back as he grabbed Tommy by the hood of his hoodie, hurrying out of the building.
"Hey! Stop right there!' Multiple officers were trailing behind them, each hot on their tail.
"No, I'm alright, thanks for the suggestion!"
Tommy cockily yelled out, turning and rushing down an alleyway, Tubbo looking back to nod at him-
Suddenly, Tubbo cried out, immediately dropping onto the rough concrete, holding his leg.
"TUB- I mean, BIG CRIME!"
Tommy yelled, dropping to his knees and helping his friend up. Tubbo's hand held a death grip on his friend's shoulder as he put more weight onto his leg. When he looked down, he saw blood leaking out of and around it. Oh God, we need serious help, was Tubbo's first thought before his eyes began to grow heavy. His consciousness faded in and out, as he tried to speak.
"Tubster! Stay awake for me, c'mon big guy! You can't faint on me now!"
As it turns out, he actually could faint on him now. The goat hybrid's body fell to the ground with a thud. Tommy groaned, racking his brain on what to do. The cops were still behind them, shouting at each other to find the two. THINK TOMMY, THINK! He thought, and then, immediately thought of going back home. As soon as the thought came, it went. No, I can't it way too far, it'd probably take an hour. OH SHIT, is that blood?! Then, the brilliant idea that he always had, of course, he always had brilliant ideas, he was TommyInnit! The smartest man alive, the bravest... wait, we're getting sidetracked. He could run to the bakery, which was roughly 10 minutes away. He latched his hands onto Tubbo's jacket, pulling the unconscious boy along with him as he approached the brightly lit building. He spotted multiple people laughing, some with masks, and others not. He recognized Quackity and swung open the door aggressively. Everyone stopped and stared at him, some standing up immediately to take the boy out of his arms.
"I NEED HELP! IS ANYONE A MEDIC?"
He yelled, as Tubbo began to slide out of his exhausted arms. Blood was still dripping from his friend's leg, quite a lot of it as well. The boy was pale and shivering harshly when a boy donning a red, black and yellow mask rushed to his aid. His hands wrapped around Tubbo's waist, heaving him up as Bad looked concernedly.
"I am! Nihachu, help me take him to the back! See if Sam can go get some bandages, or cloth! Anything, he's losing a lot of blood!"
The man yelled swiftly, Niki nodded, grabbing the old phone off the wall, dialing a number and tapping her shoes impatiently. The masked man and Bad carried the boy into the back, while Tommy collapsed on one of the red seats near the door, hoping his friend would be alright. Quackity and a guy with a blue box over his head immediately sat next to the distressed boy, sitting there silently while thoughts ran through Tommy's head. What if he dies? It'll be all my fault! I shouldn't have stepped through the door, I should have been careful, dammit!
"Hey Red, you good? You look like you're going to faint, like your friend back there!"
He looked up to see a frowning Quackity, and an emotionless blue box man next to him. Tommy blurted out the first thing that came to his mind.
"That box looks really fucking stupid on you."
"WHA- HEY! What do you mean it looks stupid, you're not allowed to talk! You've got a piece of fabric with holes for eyes and a green bandana around your mouth, ok?"
The boy crossed his arms, obviously pissed. Quackity burst out laughing, holding stomach as Tommy began to chuckle a little bit too.
"TRUEE! ANY TRUERS? HE'S GOT A POINT SKEPS, LET'S GOOO!"
"WHATEVER! YOU'RE BOTH SO ANNOYING, AND I JUST MET YOU!"
'Skeppy' yelled irritatedly, pointing at Tommy.
Quackity wiped a tear from his eyes, his smile still very prominent on his face. He gestrued to the rest of the people, who were trying to help as much as they could.
"These are my friends. The guy who jumped up to help your friend is Ponk, he's the medic here. He's not a vigilante, but he is a helper of us. The girl was Nihachu, another vigilante you probably know. The one with the black hoodie and glasses? That's Bad, as we all call him. Skeppy totally likes him ("I DO NOT! I JUST THINK HE'S COOL, OK?!"), and he runs this bakery. Ranboo should be here, but I think he forgot about our meeting. Eh, that'll happen, what can you do? Now, what happened to you and your friend?"
"It's a long story..."
