"You know Deku, there is another way you could become a hero." Bakugou said, slowly turning to look back at the quirkless boy. "Just pray for a quirk in your next life," the blonde paused, then turned back to the door. "And take a swan dove off the roof of the building."
Bakugou laughed as he left the room with his groupies. They were assholes, Midoriya knew that, but that didn't mean what they said was wrong. He was useless and a waste of space, and maybe just maybe if he did take that dive…
Maybe everything would be better…
So, Midoriya headed back down to the ground level of the school to reacquire his hero notebook. He picked up his book of stupid childish hope's and dreams. It was being used as fish food now, and beyond being saved.
He dug it out of the pond and shook off the excess water that clung to the pages and cover. Regret washed over him at the thought that someone could have used that very notebook in his hands for something useful. But instead, it was sopping wet in his hands and being used for something that would never be.
He shook his head to clear his thoughts, and walked back into his school. He took the long way up, just in case. He didn't know what it was in case of, but it felt better that way. But, he climbed the stairs to the roof.
When he reached the top of the last staircase he jiggled the door knob to the roof access door. It was unlocked, just his luck!
Swinging the door open wide, Izuku was met with cold air wiping around his face, through his hair, and whispering in his ears. He could almost feel it take shape in his hands and guide him to the edge.
Within a few small steps the greenette found himself peering over the ledge of his school building. The wind rushed against his back, urging him forward. The wind died down as the small boy lifted his leg over the edge of the building and let his body tilt forward. His balance tilted forwards and then he was falling.
Down…
Down…
Down…
The fall wasn't too long, and he didn't have much time to comprehend what he had just done. And, just before he reached the ground, he opened his eyes. He saw the pavement, then blinding white, then deep heavy black, and finally blinding red.
It felt like years until he was finally able to open his eyes again, and sit up. But when he did, he found himself horrified. Looking around he saw the Aldera school building, and the koi pond, and his notebook, but that wasn't all he saw.
He saw his arms, and his legs, and his entire body. He could feel his entire body. Which meant he wasn't dead. Quickly, he stood up and rushed to the koi pond.
Looking right back at him was his own face. The only sign of what he had just done was a streak of blood on his left cheek.
Izuku picked up his things from the ground, and headed back to his house. His mother had been working a late shit that day, and wouldn't be home for a bit. Quickly, he pulled out a new notebook.
He labeled the front Quirk Tests : Book 1. And on the first page started writing what little he knew about his freshly discovered quirk.
So far, the basics were that when he died - or at least tried to kill himself - he would not stay dead. He did not know if this pertained to murder though. He wouldn't be sure for a while.
But, for the rest of the night, he documented what he knew before passing
