Chapter Text
The blinking light of the camera stared him in the face as he drove in silence. It sat on the dash in front of him, a painful reminder of the past. A cough managed to work it’s way out of his mouth, he reached over to the bottle of pills next to him. He still continued looking at the road ahead, the pill bottle now sat heavy in his hand.
A seemingly pained look filled his eyes, but only for a moment.
Eventually, he worked up the will to turn the camera around. Capturing the blue sky, the open field of grass, and the trees. The camera tracked the forward movement of the car, and Tim knew it was time to turn it off.
The car came to a halt and he pressed the off button on the camera.
He wasn’t sure how he would finish it. He knew he had to. He needed to give something to those who were still watching, to those who still cared.
Another cough escaped from him, it quickly turned into a full on coughing fit.
Everything is fine, he told himself. Everything is fine, as he opened the bottle and quickly swallowed one pill. He capped the bottle, tossing it next into the passenger seat.
That’s it. That’s what he’ll finish it with. Everything is fine.
His coughing subsided and he realized he was still stopped at the crossroads.
He hadn’t truly had a destination in mind. He didn’t know where he was going. He didn’t know where he could go.
He sat for a while, reflecting.
He felt guilty about so much. Alex’s word repeated in his head, over, and over, and over, and over again.
It was a constant humming of the words, “it’s your fault. You’re the cause.”
Was he the cause?
Even if Tim hadn’t ever been exposed, if he’d had a normal life and still ended up in the same spot, Alex still would have gone to Rosswood to film. Isn’t it possible that he exposed himself when he went there?
It’s where that thing frequented. It’s where Tim was exposed in the first place.
At the end of the day though, it doesn’t really matter. Not anymore.
Whether he was the initial source or not, he was still a source.
In that moment, Tim made up his mind. He wasn’t going to let anyone else get infected.
Jessica’s level of exposure was low enough that she should be fine. She’s getting help. She’s on medication. There hasn’t been any incidents yet. She’ll be fine, Tim told himself.
It’s okay for him to leave for good, he told himself.
His resolve strengthened, and he turned his car.
There was only one place that he could do this.
He was going back to Rosswood.
