Chapter Text
Peter always wondered when he was going to meet his soulmate. He was kind of the playboy wolf that slept with everyone and sort of a wild card. He knew he was going to get his words when he was 16. He got his word when he was 16 just like everyone else. He was confused when he first read it because it implied he was an alpha and he wasn't. He wasn’t going to be an alpha either, that was his big sister Talia. She was 9 years older than him and started her training a while ago. Peter looked at Talia, immediately thinking something bad was going to happen to her and he would get her alpha spark. That scared Peter. Yes, he and Talia had their quarrels, but she was his big sister, he didn’t want anything to happen to her. In a rare moment of weakness he hugged her and got emotional the moment he read it. She hugged him and assured him nothing was going to happen to her. But because of the words, he joined Talia in her training and when it was transferred to her, he listened to her training.
The incident happened when Peter was 20. He was with his twins, because on one of his sexual escapades, he knocked up some girl. He didn’t know until she showed up on the Hale doorstep with 2 year old twins, Jackson and Malia, saying they were his and she couldn’t care for them. Peter couldn’t even argue because the moment he looked at them, his wolf started howling and he felt the need to protect and love the kids. It was even better than a blood test.
Peter was so gobsmacked and she handed them to him and left. He stood at the door staring back at her. He realized that he was 18 year old, just got accepted into college and now he had to take care of twins. Peter wanted to be angry but he looked at the little babies in his arms and they smiled at him, eyes flashing yellow and Peter couldn’t bring himself to be mad. He felt that the boy, Jackson was a wolf and Malia, the girl, was a coyote. Peter had just walked back into the living room and everyone stared at him. He suddenly didn’t know what to say. Talia and her husband had just had their third kid, Cora who was 2. Derek was 8 and Laura was 9. Peter had been terrified and he looked at his big sister, one kid in each arm. They knew immediately. Talia got up and walked to him and started playing with baby Malia and Peter melted in relief. He remembers Talia looking him in the eyes, her red eyes shining and telling him that she would always help him. Peter had never been so grateful for her.
Anyway, the incident was when Peter was 20. The kids were 4 and were playing in the yard with Talia’s kids and they were all on the porch chatting. Talia’s gaze snapped to the forest, eyes red and they all were alert standing up and running to the kids when an obviously feral wolf howled and burst from the forest. Peter saw red when it charged his little twins who were frozen in terror. Peter had let out a terrifying roar and ripped the other wolf to pieces so fast that Talia was surprised. Peter, not feeling the rush, ran over to his babies and they jumped into his arms. Peter cradled them and checked them over. Peter was still shifted as he tried to calm himself down again. He looked over at Talia who was checking her three kids. His mother, Johanna and father Tim were jogging over to him. They made sure everyone was ok and everything calmed down. They knew they had to report the incident, but that was ok because they were friends with the sheriff. He would understand. He had a kid, Noah, as well and would understand one protecting his cubs.
Peter remembered vividly, standing up with his kids and walking over to Talia and James, her mate. He set his kids down with Cora, Derek and Laura and looked at her. He smiled but Talia was looking at him curiously. He remembers her tone when she asked him to flash his eyes and the gasp she did when he did. Then her words.
“Peter, you're an alpha now.”
***
“Peter, are you even listening?” Peter snapped out of his zoning and looked at his big sister with a sassy expression and raised eyebrows. They were in a staff meeting with the big players in their business. Talia was the CEO of a big research and development of energy company and Peter was the COO.
“No, not really.” Peter said with a grin and a twinkle in his eyes. Talia rolled her eyes. Peter chuckled and the rest of the heads of department rolled their eyes, (the ones who weren’t afraid Peter would kill them). Talia kept going but Peter saw the slight smirk in her features. He never paid attention during these things and she knew it. It was just a once a month thing where she got all the department heads together and they had a check in and debriefing.
It had been 14 years since he became an alpha and things were going pretty well. His kids were 18 now and already got accepted into their top colleges. They had also met a bunch of other crazies, and Jackson found his soulmate. They had met in middle school, and had been inseparable since then. And then Derek got alpha status pretty much the same way Peter did and now was the alpha of that pack. Turns out that his soulmate was the now sheriff’s son, Stiles.
It was all going well. Peter hadn’t met his soulmate yet but he wasn’t put off and it didn’t stop him from sleeping around. The Hale’s were always a big name and then Talia’s company shot off like a rocket when she patented a really energy efficient way to produce paper for lower cost. After that, the company was on the map and Peter, being the COO since the beginning, helped her get the company off the ground (because he was smarter than everyone thought he was). He was now a billionaire and he loved spending his money. He spoiled his kids and he knew it but he also knew that with their interactions with Stiles and Scott and their money struggles, they knew the value of a dollar. Peter was glad with how they turned out and was very proud of them. Jackson had gotten a full ride for lacrosse and Malia got a good scholarship. The pack was all going to the same college about 30 minutes away from Beacon Hills, Beacon County University (BCU), a nice 4 year private school. Malia was going into the architecture program and Jackson didn’t know what he wanted to major in yet. His soulmate Lydia was double majoring in astrophysics and criminal justice and law and double minoring in biochemistry and calculus. Scott was majoring in veterinary services. Stiles was majoring in criminal law, Erica was majoring in business, Boyd didn’t know yet. Danny was majoring in computer science and Isaac was majoring in art therapy. Peter was honestly proud of all of them.
“Ok that wraps up this meeting. Thank you all, except Peter, for attending!” Talia said with a grin. They chuckled and Peter grinned at her. They filed out of the room and Talia slapped Peter side the head. He laughed.
“I would ask what that was for but I know that answer already.” Peter said with a smirk. Talia rolled her eyes.
“Go to work.” She said shaking her head in exasperation. Peter planted a big sloppy kiss on her cheek making her make a squawking sound and shove him away. Peter left the room laughing as she wiped her face off with an eye roll but a fond smile.
Peter had a shit ton of paperwork to do so he went back to his office. He smiled at his new secretary, Allison. She started working here 2 months ago but had lasted longer than everyone else had. Peter tends to not get along with them. But she was good at handling him which sometimes surprised Peter. She was 18 and in college so Peter wasn’t sure how she got this job, but she was here and he actually kinda liked her. She was sassy but not over the top. She was also efficient and sweet. Peter never felt like he wanted to yell at her. Even when she asked questions, which Peter hated, he always wanted to answer them and never felt annoyed. He thought it was strange but never did anything about it.
“Oh Alpha Hale, I have a question.” Allison said, popping up from the chair, looking a little nervous. He raised his eyebrows and made the get on with it gesture, not stopping as he walked into his office, he felt her follow him. “I have a final on Friday and they won’t let me take it online, so I have to go in… I was wondering if it was ok to take off the few hours to take that final.” She said, shifting on her feet. Peter internally snorted. What was he going to say? No? He looked at Allison.
“Of course, honey, school is important.” Peter said and looked at his papers. He felt her immediately relax. “So you go to school around here?” Peter asked, glancing at her. She nodded.
“I go to BCU. They let me take half online and half in person so I can work here. They just have certain requirements.” Allison said. Peter nodded.
“What are you majoring in?” Peter was surprising himself with asking questions. Why does he care? She smiled and he felt like it was worth it. God, why does he feel like he needs to parent her?
“Architecture.” She said with a smile. Peter was interested now.
“My daughter is in that same major.” Peter said, wondering if they know each other. Allison nodded with a small smile.
“Yeah, she is in a few of my in person classes.” Allison said with a small smile and little shrug. Peter nodded. She smiled a little and then walked back out to her desk. Peter sighed and looked at all the papers he needed to look at.

“Hey Dad. I make pasta. They are a little mushy because in the middle of making pasta I forgot that I was making pasta.” Malia said casually when Peter walked into the kitchen. Peter snorted and shook his head with a grin. Jackson was at the island doing homework and Malia was spooning herself some pasta.
“Good job bug.” Peter said and kissed her cheek, snatching her bowl and eating from it. She made a sound but didn’t want to fight for it. She grabbed another bowl and spooned herself more, glaring at him. Peter grinned and looked over Jackson's shoulder. “What is that?” Peter asked, looking at the chicken scratch.
“Calc.” Jackson huffed, staring at his paper completely lost. “Lydia will be here soon. I have no idea what this is.” Peter laughed and nodded. He liked Lydia, he liked her from the beginning. She was sweet but dangerous, smart as a whip and pretty. Peter appreciated her and they went shopping all the time. Lydia was always complaining that no one else had any sense of style except him. Erica joined them sometimes but she, Malia and Cora were sort of tomboys. They had their moments like for prom but Lydia loved fashion and so did Peter so they got along well. Their snark and sass got along like fire and ice.
Jackson eyed the pasta and Peter fed him a spoonful before sitting on the other side of the island and eating peacefully. Peter wondered, Allison seemed to like fashion. She was always dressed nicely and had those magazines in her drawer. He had a feeling she and Lydia would get along like a house on fire. He wondered if he should set up a playdate.
“How was work?” Malia asked, plopping down in a seat. Peter rolled his eyes and spooned mushy pasta into his mouth.
“Lots of papers.” Peter complained and Malia snorted. “School? Did you study for your final?” Malia looked surprised that he knew that and Peter grinned. He had an inside woman now, maybe he would hold off on the playdate.
“How did you know that?” Malia asked with a suspicious look. Peter shrugged with a smirk. Her eyes narrowed. “I did.” She said answering his question. “But I am still studying. Some of my class doesn’t make sense.” She huffed. “My art design class is good but the science design class has me fucked.” Malia pouted and ate some of the pasta. Peter snorted.
“Good luck.” Peter said and she rolled her eyes. Before she could repeat her question, Lydia walked in. Peter grinned. Saved by the bell, or in this case, the lovely Lydia. Peter smirked at Malia who glared. He picked up his bowl and smiled at Lydia. She smiled and kissed his cheek.
“Peter.” She said sweetly.
“Lydia.” He replied and walked into the living room, flicking on the TV with a smile.

“Peter, we got that deal. Here are the details. Can you look them over and send them over to modeling?” Talia said walking into his office on Thursday. Peter looked at her in slight interest. He was wondering what happened with the clean energy deal they had proposed.
“Sure. Hit me.” Peter said and then looked at her warningly. “Not actually.” He added quickly, seeing her smirk. She laughed and handed him the papers.
“Thanks Peter.” She said and walked out, saying hello to Allison. A few minutes later Allison walked in.
“Anything I can help with?” She asked curiously. Peter hummed, looking over the details.
“Not yet, love. I’ll let you know.” He said, still reading. Allison nodded and went back out to her desk. Peter was reading when he got distracted by Allison whispering.
“Daddy, i’m at work.” She whispered presumably into a phone.
“I know boo. I just want to tell you I called in. I won’t be home for a few days.” The voice said and Peter could feel Allison deflate.
“Oh. Ok, be careful and come back to me. I love you daddy.” She said, and Peter could tell she was trying to not get emotional.
“I love you too boo. And I will.” The voice said and then they hung up. He felt Allison sigh and go about her tasks with less enthusiasm than usual. Peter felt sad and he wanted to help her. It puzzled him but he knew he wanted to help. He didn’t know why.
It was Thursday now and she had the morning off tomorrow. Maybe Peter would introduce her to Lydia. Peter nodded and went back to reading the deal.
-
“Come on love.” Peter said when he walked out of his office at the end of the day. He had texted Lydia about it already and she said she would be ok with a study session with her. Allison frowned as she packed up.
“What?” She asked with a confused expression.
“I want to introduce you to one of my daughters' friends. I feel like you two would get along.” Peter said and made an impatient gesture. Allison quickly packed up and followed him out of the building. Peter saw Lydia walk out of her car and toward them.
“Allison, right?” Lydia said with a smile. Allison nodded, not sure what to say. “I’m Lydia, come on. I hear we have an art and science design final tomorrow.” Lydia said with a smile and linked their arms and pulled her to her car. Peter smiled at them and went to his car. He roped in Malia as well. He heard Allison was struggling on the opposite that Malia was and figured they could learn from each other.
Peter drove home and saw Jackson slamming his textbook closed with a gruble. The boys were there as well. It seemed to be a boys night. Peter raised his eyebrows at his living room.
“Lydia took the girls for a study session, so we decided to do the same thing. But we are all idiots.” Stiles said with a smile. Peter laughed.
“I have steak and cable.” Peter proposed and they all perked up. He laughed.
“Easy trade. I’ll fire up the grill!” Jackson said and ran out back. Peter chuckled. Stiles, Danny and Boyd went to the kitchen to start something for a side dish. Derek, Scott and Isaac went to pick out something to watch. Peter showered quickly and got into sweatpants and a t-shirt. He walked down and went to prepare the steaks for them. It was gonna be a good night.
After they all devoured the steaks they ended up playing lacrosse in the backyard. Playing with Peter was so much fun because he was actually really good and he fucked with the rules a lot. It was Peter, Danny, Stiles, Derek versus Jackson, Boyd, Isaac and Scott.
-
Lydia really liked Allison. They got along well so fast that it was surprising. Then Malia and she got along because they could talk about their major. Cora and Erica got along with them as well and Allison just melted into the group like she had always been there. They all studied for a few hours before just talking. It was so much fun. Allison soon was able to push away the thoughts of her father in dangerous situations.
***
Peter was happy to see that Allison melted in with the girls and they wanted to introduce her to the rest of the pack. Allison smiled at Peter with a twinkle in her eyes he hadn’t seen before when he walked in on Monday.
“Thank you.” Allison said with much emotion. Peter smiled and pet her head as he passed.
“I am just that good.” Peter said with sass and smile and Allison laughed, shaking her head and went to work. Peter did the same with a smile.
Peter worked and worked and worked. He was good at his job, obviously, he was COO, but it was a lot of work, especially because they just got approval for a new deal. Peter ended up skipping lunch and worked until late. Allison peaked her head into the room and said she was leaving. “Ok hon. Oh, if all goes well, you can come to dinner tonight.” Peter said. She looked surprised but smiled.
“I would love to.” She said with a smile. Peter smiled softly and shooed her away. She chuckled. “Don’t work too late Alpha Hale.” She said softly with a smile and walked out. Peter smiled and continued with his papers.
-
Peter smiled when he saw Allison at the table when he got to Talia’s for dinner. Mondays, Fridays, and select Wednesdays were pack dinner nights at Talia’s house. Peter greeted his children with kisses to the forehead which they pretended to not like.
“I cannot believe you were hiding her from us all this time.” Lydia accused Peter with raised eyebrows. Peter laughed and sat at the table.
“Hey, to be fair, I didn’t even know her name until 3 weeks ago. My secretaries go fast.” Peter said, spooning some food on his plate. He glanced at Allison. “No offence.” he added and Allison was just laughing.
“No I get it. It's ok.” She said with a smile. They all grabbed some food and talked about work and school and all that fun stuff. Malia and Allison were talking about their architecture classes and the boys were talking lacrosse. Lydia started talking about shopping this weekend with Peter and it was a nice dinner.
“So Allison, I can hear from Malia that you are also an architecture major?” Jay asked with a smile. She was married to Talia’s husband’s little brother and then Olivia was married to the youngest brother. Allison smiled at her.
“I am. I am really excited about it. Ever since I was little I have always wanted to be an architect. I was always fascinated by buildings and all that.” Allison said with a smile.
“That is great that you knew from such a young age.” Olivia said with a grin. “So do you live on campus?” Allison shook her head.
“No, I live in an apartment with my dad near campus.” Allison said with a small smile.
“What does he do?” Nathan asked curiously. Allison smiled softly.
“He teaches at the military base over here on the side. He is mostly special forces for the military.” Allison said, pushing her food around. They could tell she was a little sad.
“Is he on a mission right now?” Talia asked softly. Allison nodded.
“Yea, he left a few days ago. He sends letters when he can but I never know how long he will be gone…” or if he will come back was left unspoken but everyone felt it. Malia and Lydia grabbed her hands gently. She smiled at them.
“What about your mother?” Ray asked gently.
“She died when I was little. Remember that terrorist attack?” Allison asked the adults. They nodded, immediately serious. “She was close by and ran in to help. She found two bombs and defused it before it could go off. She was trying to defuse the third one when it exploded and it killed her.” Allison said, blinking away tears. “I barely remember, I was 7.” Allison added. Talia let out a breath in surprise.
“Your mother was Victoria Argent.” She said and Allison smiled and nodded.
“My dad has been slowly hunting down the group responsible and he has made a sizable dent in their numbers since then. It's been, god, 11 years? He was 27 at the time and losing her was hard.” Allison said and she smiled softly at the group. “It's hard being a single parent. He had to stop going into the field for a while. He loves being in the field.” Allison said with a little chuckle and then shook her head. “Enough about that.” She said and Stiles was at her rescue and started talking about something else. He shot her a wink and a grin, making her smile. The rest of dinner was smooth.
***
Peter was walking to his car on Friday. He and Lydia and whoever else wanted to come were going on a shopping trip. Allison had come to dinner all week with them because her father was still away. But he sent a letter so she knew he was ok so far.
Peter grabbed his keys as he neared his car and then his senses picked up something odd. Peter’s nose twitched and he turned around. Nothing. Peter’s eyes phased red and he looked around. It was getting dark because it was 5 o'clock and November. Something was different and he couldn’t figure out what it was. Suddenly there was a whooshing sound and with Peter’s reflexes, he caught the thing flying through the air. It was something from a tranq gun and it smelled to be full of wolfsbane.
Peter realized what was happening.
He ducked a punch and then punched someone. Peter realized there were 4 of them. He dropped his bag and howled, to alert Talia that some shit was going down. Then he fought them bitches. He killed 3 of them but more came out of nowhere and they managed to stick Peter with a needle. Peter swore internally as everything was going blurry. Peter stumbled and blinked rapidly, struggling as they pulled him to a van. Peter growled but was thrown in the van and passed out.
-
Talia and the pack were in the house waiting for Peter to get home. Talia made him a quick dinner so he could eat it on the way to the mall with the girls. They were talking and chatting when Talia heard Peter’s howl. Her heart sank. Peter never howls to her, not without it being a joke and he didn’t sound kidding.
“Fuck! Peter!” Talia yelled and ran to her car. She felt the pack startle because they didn’t hear it but jumped up and followed her. Talia broke all speeding laws to get to him. She pulled into the parking lot of her company building and got out. Her heart sank further when she saw his bags and keys on the ground by his car. And then she saw 3 bodies. She swore. “Stiles, call your father. Scott, I’m sorry but you too. I am going up and pulling the footage.” She ordered and ran to the building.
Time is of the essence.
She heard Scott and Stiles shuffling for their phone and James, Lydia, Malia, Jackson and Allison ran up with her. Talia pulled the camera in that area and played it back. They all watched with hands covering their mouth and Peter fought and fought but was nicked by the needle and then he passed out being shoved in the van. Talia growled dangerously. Her eyes were red and she was pissed. Who dared take her baby brother? She will rip them to pieces.
She made a copy of the footage and walked back down to the kids and the adults. She was glad to see the red white and blue of the cops. They were on scene fast. She walked over to Noah and Parrish.
“Talia.” Noah said, walking toward her.
“I am going to kill them.” She growled, handing him a thumb drive. It was one of three copies she made. She saw the pack consoling a slightly distraught Malia and Jackson out of the corner of her eyes. Noah nodded.
“I know. But I will do everything I can. He is family.” Talia nodded because she knew he would say that. Then an SUV pulled in and Rafael and a few agents got out. He said something to them and they joined the deputies on scene and walked over to Noah and Talia. Talia handed him a flash drive.
“Security footage. I don’t like you but you have resources and I want my brother found. There is blood to pay.” Talia said fiercely. Rafael nodded.
“I know how much he means to Scott and Scott means a lot to me. I will do everything I can. Now, we should set up a tap on your phone, this might just be a simple snatch and ransom kidnapping.” he said. Talia nodded. She looked at James and Raymond.
“I’ll take you to the house.” James said and he, Raymond, and Jay went off. Noah laid his hand on her shoulder. She took out a breath and let out a howl that shook the earth they stood on. Malia and Jackson joined in as well.
Talia was going to get blood.
-
Peter woke up to the howl of his sister and children. He snapped awake and looked around. He was in a cell, lined with mountain ash as he saw. He felt he was still a little hopped up on wolfsbane as he looked around. His hands were chained behind his back and there was an electrical current on it. He also had a gag on his mouth. Peter was pissed at the situation. He should have done better.
Peter looked around and he was in a shitty room, well, cell really. There were bars on the door. Maybe an old prison. There were a lot of old decommissioned werewolf prisons when they started getting rights and things like that.
Peter couldn’t help blink in exhaustion. The wolfsbane and electricity was draining him. Peter slipped back into unconsciousness.
***
Peter was woken up to beatening and to be fed. But that was it. No questions, not one word. Peter assumed that this was ransom then. Awesome. It had been two days and nothing had happened yet.
Talia was pissed. It had been two days and they were running down leads. They didn’t have much. It was all over the news and in all the stories. Peter Hale had been kidnapped. It was the biggest story since that firefighter saved a barn full of kittens. She needed some progress to be made.
Peter looked up at the men when they walked inside the cell. He was punched in the face and he just laughed. He looked at them with a smile and they punched him more.
Talia wanted news. Not this news though. A group stepped forward and claimed responsibility and it was the same group that was responsible for the bombing 11 years ago. Now Talia was scared. Scared and pissed. She asked Allison about it and she said the military had really done a number on them. If they took him, it might be for the money to get back up and running.
***
Finally, they walked in with a camera. Peter had assumed it had been fours days, maybe five, who knew at this point. They grabbed him by the hair and forced him to look into the camera. He knew he looked like shit. The wolfsbane and electricity were slowing his healing so he had cuts and bruises all over his face and his bare torso. They took him off the electricity but upped the wolfsbane. Peter couldn’t even understand what they were saying, it wasn’t english or another language he knew (french, russian, german, spanish, or arabic. He knew ASL but that obviously wasn’t what they were using). Peter’s eyes went red because he didn’t have much control and he was pissed. He was being jostled around and he had enough. He pulled his head out and bit at the man. He was punched for his trouble but he just smiled at the man. It irritated the man but he turned back to the camera and continued speaking. Peter was beaten after for his little stunt but it was worth it.
-
Talia watched as her brother, who was totally hopped up on wolfsbane, bit at the man who punched him. He just looked at them with his usual sassy smirk. Talia had sucked in her breath at his state, but it was obviously he was alive and still a sassy fuck.
“What now?” She asked looking at Noah and Rafael.
“We are tracing it, Danny is helping. That’s all we can do now.” Noah said.
“I contacted the military about it and they are on board as well.” Rafael added. Talia nodded and sighed, running her hands through her hair. It had been 6 days.
“I will start gathering the money then. Just in case. Let me know.” She said and thanked them both before leaving the room.
She went home and hugged Malia and Jackson. “He is alive and playing very close to the line with these guys. I have started getting together the money in case they can’t find him before their deadline.” Talia said softly. They nodded.
“Is he going to be ok?” Malia asked, eyes welling with tears. Talia hugged her into his chest.
“If anyone can be kidnapped by terrorists and get out of it, it is your father.” She said softly. They chuckled a little bit and nodded. Talia shooed them to the pack. She had some money to move.
***
Peter was sure it had been over a week at this point. He wanted to be rescued. He was glad that the electricity was off and he wasn’t chained up. But he is on wolfsbane. He was curious why they hadn’t come back and redosed him because it was diminishing and he could feel it.
Suddenly the door gets broken down Peter snaps his gaze up and sees two men enter the room with guns and in tactical gear.
Rescue?
Peter is shocked and doesn’t even resist as they grab him and pull them out of the room. Peter felt the hope rising in his chest as he was walked out. Peter heard shots and the two men at his sides fell to the ground. Peter felt his heart constrict. Peter is an alpha werewolf and a confident businessman but he has been in a cell for over a week and is terrified as he turns around and sees terrorists about to either take him again or shoot him.
Suddenly they fall after shots ring out and the other one is taken down by another man in tactical gear. He yells for Peter to duck and Peter does surprisingly and he shoots two people who were coming up behind him. Peter looks at the bodies and then at the man as he clears the hall. He then goes over to Peter, grabs his arm, yanks him up and starts walking down the hallway quickly. He is checking the hallways and making sure there are no bogies.
“Ok alpha boy, I’m here to get you out.” The man said, looking around the corner. Peter couldn’t see his face but he knew he was smirking. Despite everything that has happened and the rollercoaster of emotions Peter is feeling, Peter laughed and raised his eyebrows at the man, his words not even registering in his muddled brain.
“At least call me alpha man.” Peter complains. The man chuckled and peeked around another corner and shot more men.
“I have the package. Moving to get out and to the chopper.” He said, obviously into a comm he was wearing. Peter followed closely, the effects of wolfsbane nearly gone at this point. The man shot more people as they got out and so far it was smooth.
“You're a good shot.” Peter muttered as he shot and they stayed down. The man chuckled. Suddenly someone attacked from the side and Peter was struck with fear for a second before the man absolutely shut him down. Peter was impressed and a little turned on.
“Ok, chopper is ready, come on Alpha man.” He said, obviously smirking. Peter grinned despite himself. He wished he could see the man’s face but he was wearing a mask. He quickly led them out to the exit and ran them to a chopper. He pushed Peter inside and onto a seat in the center and sat on the edge of the open sides with the other soldiers. The chopper started taking off.
“Fuck! Is that an RPG?!” One soldier yelled pointing. The man that saved him swore and hopped the few feet onto the ground.
“Chris!” Someone yelled.
“Get him to safety. I’ll take care of them. Go!” He yelled and ran off.
“You heard the cap!” Someone said but they seemed hesitant. Peter watched with wide eyes as he ran toward the men. Then he was cut off by the chopper moving and flying off.
“We are just leaving him?! We can’t… just leave him! He will die!” Peter said, trying to look back but he was pushed back into the seat.
“He gave us an order. And we will follow it.” Someone said. Peter didn’t know what to say. “Our mission was to save you. He knew the risks.”
“I should have gone.” Someone said. “What about his daughter.” The chopper was silent as they sped away from the building. He must have taken care of them because they didn’t have a problem with RPG’s. They were almost back at the base Peter heard over the radio. He sat in the seat in the middle not letting the medic on board look him over. Peter could feel himself healing now that the wolfsbane was pretty much gone. They were landing at the base when the radio sounded.
“Team 2. Secured the Cap, heading back to base.” The men in the chopper cheered loudly as they got off. Peter found himself smiling and feeling grateful. That man saved him twice now and he wanted to thank him.
Peter was led to the medical wing and was seated in a bed. His bruises were almost gone and he could move easier. He saw himself in the mirror and he looked ok now. His clothes, his nice suit was trashed but at least he was alive. Peter felt the familiar presence and he smiled. His head snapped to the door and he saw Talia burst in with Malia and Jackson behind her. He smirked at them, standing up.
“About damn time.” Peter said with a grin. Talia burst into laughter but her eyes were teary as she ran at him. Peter was enveloped in hugs from the three of them. He hugged her back tightly and then hugged his kids.
“Daddy.” Malia said, eyes blurry. Peter hushed her and hugged her tightly into his chest. He had his other arm around Jackson who was hugging his side.
“Now I hope you still did your homework.” Peter said and they laughed, hugging him tighter.
“I love you dad. I know we don’t say it a lot but I love you.” Jackson said, looking him in the eyes. Peter smiled softly and pressed a kiss to his forehead.
“I love you too son.” Peter said and then did the same to Malia.
“Are you ok?” Talia asked, hovering, eyes worried. Peter nodded.
“I’m healing well.” Peter said and then looked at the military doctor that walked in. “I would like to go home though. I need a bath. A nice hot, long, bubbly bath.” Peter said and the nurse chuckled. She looked at Talia who nodded.
“I can clear you but the military and police are going to want to question you.” Peter nodded and then walked out with his family.
“I would like to thank the man who saved my life.” Peter said, looking around as they walked out. Talia just pulled him.
“Later.” She said. Peter huffed but didn’t argue.

After a long rest of the day filled with hugs and cuddles and questions he was finally able to go home and hop in the bath, getting out of the bloody suit. Peter lays in the tub of hot water and melts. He leans his head back and rests his eyes. This is the most relaxed he had felt in over a week when he was in the cell. Peter let the hot water wash over him and carry away the dirt and memories of the cell.
Peter stood up after a while when the water was getting dirty and pulled the plug, turning on the shower. He stood under the spray and washed his hair.
When he was done he threw on sweatpants and went right to his bed. He flopped on it and slipped into sleep. He barely felt his kids hop on the bed and curl into him but he wrapped his arms around them and slept peacefully.

Peter was questioned by the military and the police the next day and it wasn’t as painful as he thought it was going to be.
“Wait.” Peter said before the military people left. “Is there a way I can thank the man who saved my life. The one who ran back.” Peter asked.
“We will see what we can do.” They said and then walked out. Peter huffed and leaned back in the chair. They were at the station. He looked at Noah who smiled.
“So he was kick ass huh?” Noah asked with a smirk and Peter laughed.
“He was. He took out over four men and then sassed me-” Peter let the memory play and froze. Noah immediately frowned and sat forward.
“What?” Noah asked, eyes worried. Peter stared at him in shock.
“He said my words.” Peter breathed out in surprise. Noah’s eyes widened. “He said ‘ok alpha boy, I’m here to get you out’. Those were his first words to me.” Peter now really wanted to see him again. He was his soulmate. He wondered if he figured it out. It was a really intense time, where it seemed to blow over each of their heads.
“Peter...” Noah said, not sure what to say. Peter looked at him.
“I have to find him.” Peter said, eyes a little wide. Noah nodded.
“I’ll ask some friends and go through some channels.” Peter looked at him and shook his hand.
“Thank you.” Peter said sincerely. Noah smiled and got up, pulling him into a hug.
“I got your back Peter.” Peter smiled at the sheriff and then left to share the news with his sister.

“He what?!” Talia screeched, gaining the attention of the rest of the pack. Peter rolled his eyes but he understood that energy.
“Who what now?” Isaac asked, eyes curious and slightly worried.
“The man who saved Peter said his words.” Talia said and the pack’s eyes widened and looked at him in excitement.
“Peter!!” Lydia squealed with a grin. Peter laughed.
“Congrats boss man.” Allison said with a grin. Peter smiled at her and rolled his eyes.
“How many times do I have to tell you to call me Peter.” Peter asked and she laughed.
“More than you are apparently.” She sassed and Peter snorted.
“Who was it? Can we get in contact with him?” Danny asked curiously.
“I am looking into it and Noah is helping.” Peter said. They nodded. Peter could tell they were teeming with questions again. He sighed and waved them on and they exploded.

Peter was back to work the next day, catching up on everything he missed. Apparently Allison had kept up with a ton of work and Peter was highly impressed. He needed to give her a raise.
It was the second day back in the office and there was no word on the man and Peter was growing worried. That was his soulmate. What if he never saw him again?
Peter finished his day and walked to his car. Allison walked down with him now and Peter smiled at the gesture. He got her a spot next to him for the next day so she didn’t have to walk too far because he knew that was easier than trying to talk her out of walking him out.
On the third day. He and Allison were walking out and her phone buzzed with a text. She looked down and was filled with so many emotions all at once.
“Honey?” Peter asked, curious. She looked at him, eyes wide.
“My dad is back. He is waiting at the apartment!” Allison said and hugged him and bolted to her car. They were right there anyway. Peter smiled and watched her peel out of the driveway with a laugh. He hopped in his car and drove home himself. Today was Friday so he didn’t have to work tomorrow.

Peter was sitting in the lawn chair in his swimsuit, basking in the sun the next day when he heard a car pull up. He figured it was Allison. She comes to these Saturday fun day things.
“Hey Allison.” Peter heard Talia say but there was something in her voice.
“Hey. Sorry to show up with a guest but this is my dad.” Peter heard her say. She also had something in her tone.
“Oh, well, it's a pleasure to meet you Mr Argent. Allison talks about you all the time.” Talia said and walked over.
“The pleasure is mine Alpha Hale. Please call me Chris.” Peter shot up like a bullet and snapped his gaze over to them. That was the voice, that is the man who saved him, his soulmate. He saw Allison chuckle. The man looked at Peter and smiled.
“Well you look better.” He said with a smile. Peter laughed and stood up, loving how Chris’s gaze traveled down his chest.
“Much better, thanks to you.” Peter said with a smile. He saw Chris reading the words elegantly scripted on his side. “Well, this is convenient. I have many ways to thank you now.” Peter said with a smirk and a twinkle in his eyes. Chris laughed but had flushed a little.
“Dad.” Malia lightly scolded. Peter just laughed and held out his hand.
“Peter Hale, as you know.” Peter said with a smirk. Chris shook it.
“Chris Argent, as you know.” He said back and Peter grinned. He liked this man. Allison rolled her eyes and went to the pack. Talia chuckled and walked back to the bar leaving the two men.
“When did you realize?” Peter asked as they walked back to the chair Peter was sitting on.
“On the chopper ride back. Something was ringing in the back of my head and I was thinking about it.” Chris said softly and was yanked down to be sitting on the edge of the lawn chair while Peter laid down. “You?” Chris asked with a smile and Peter could feel his eyes on his chest when he laid back, closing his eyes.
“When I was talking to the police and military about it the next day.” Peter said with a shrug. Chris nodded. Peter could feel that he was nervous. Peter peeked an eye at him and he was looking at his hands in his lap. “Are you ok?” Peter asked, sitting up a little, head cocked to the side, eyes soft. Chris looked at him and smiled a little.
“Yea. I just… never thought my soulmate would be…”
“A wolf?” Peter asked, eyebrows raised.
“No!” Chris said quickly and looked at him, eyes a little wide. Peter relaxed knowing he wasn’t going to have a problem with that. He saw that Chris’s cheeks were red. “Um.. a… a man.” Chris said and looked away quickly. Peter realized. Oh, that was not what he was expecting. Well, Chris seemed really military.
“Is that a problem?” Peter asked gently. Chris shook his head and Peter nodded.
“No. I just…” Peter nodded, understanding his hesitancy. “I also have no idea how to be in a relationship.” Chris added. Peter chuckled.
“Does anyone?” Peter asked with a smile and laid back down.
“I have been with one woman my whole life and she died.” Chris said softly and Peter looked at him in surprise. Oh. Peter at least slept around and tried to date. But… Chris didn’t.
“Oh.” Peter said, not able to help himself. Chris looked at the ground.
“Does that… scare you?” Chris asked lightly, glancing at him, eyes shining. Peter realized Chris was worried about his inexperience. Peter sat up fully and laid a gentle hand on his shoulder.
“Not at all. Does my experience scare you?” Peter asked. Chris chuckled.
“Yes.” He said honestly, making Peter smile.
“Don’t let it. We don’t have to jump into anything.” Peter said with understanding in his eyes. Chris nodded. He looked at Peter.
“How are you? After that?” Chris asked. Peter shrugged and laid back down.
“I’m ok.” He said. Chris eyed him.
“Being kidnapped and beaten, thinking you're gonna die, it takes a toll.” Chris said, looking at him.
“You sound like you're speaking from experience.” Peter deflected.
“I am.” Chris said and Peter opened his eyes and looked at him. He was once again surprised by his truthfulness “Trust me. I have seen the worst of humanity. I know how it is to be locked in a cell for months, being tortured and beaten. I tried pushing it down, I still am, and it doesn’t work. You should try getting a handle on it before you blow. Because you will.” Chris said softly. Peter stared at him in surprise. Months? Tortured?
Chris smiled softly and stood up. Peter watched him walk over to Talia and the rest of the adults and spark up a conversation. Peter thought about his words. He could feel it bubbling under the surface since he got out. He tried playing it off as a joke, but he knew that wouldn’t last forever. He was an alpha he couldn’t afford to go off the rails.
Peter laid down again and thought about it.

Allison talked about her father every chance she got at work and then dragged him with her to dinners. Peter always talked to him. They were slowly getting to know each other.
It was at dinner a week or two later and they were having a good time. Peter had started seeing someone off the books, therapy style. He knew her and trusted her already so he went to her. She had just smiled and said that she was wondering when he was going to come to her. Peter hated to admit that he did feel better after talking to Mika about his problems. He didn’t tell anyone about it. He wasn’t embarrassed, it just never came up.
“Peter what is that smell?” Isaac asked at one dinner. Peter looked at him with a frown. “It's like strawberries but fake.” Isaac said with a scrunchy nose. Peter chuckled.
“Perfume. Strawberry. It's the cheap stuff.” Peter said with a chuckle.
“You're wearing perfume?” Malia asked with raised eyebrows. Peter barked out a laugh.
“No obviously. It's not mine.” Peter said and saw Chris shrink into himself a little. Peter frowned until he realized what it sounded like. He turned to Chris quickly and raised his chin to look at him. “I’m not sleeping with someone.” Peter said immediately, hoping all his progress wasn’t ruined. “I am seeing a friend, who is a therapist.” Peter said softly. Chris perked up a little and smiled.
“You are?” Chris asked. Peter nodded and looked back to the table.
“I took your words to heart. I felt it, under the surface, I didn’t want it to be a problem.” Peter said with a shrug and ate some food. He could see Chris smiling out of the corner of his eye, making him smile more.
“Damn. I wish I could get him to do the dishes let alone something like that. I need to know how you did it.” Talia said with a laugh making everyone laugh as well. Chris smiled and looked at Peter and shrugged.
