The Voicemails

Summary:

A villain to the story doesn't seem so bad after this.

'He picked up the cell phone dialling the same number he always did. The only one he knew by heart. The phone rang, Enji knew she wouldn't pick up, but it never hurt right? The ringing sounded deafening and he was ready to just hang up but he couldn't. He just couldn't.'

Notes:

Just wanna say this was for fun and doesn't excuse what Endeavor did to his children.

Chapter 1: 1.

Chapter Text

Endeavor, civilian name Todoroki Enji. He's 45 and everything is complicated. Whoever told him life would get easier should be in hell. Enji had it rough from start to now, and for no particular reason. He was slowly giving up, he knows his children can never forgive him, his wife will never love him. But is he to blame? Yes, and he can't even love himself.

He hated when people smiled, all he saw was her. Enji had something good for a short while, when did it all go bad? When did he lose everything? When he lost her? When he married Rei? There was really no answer for when or why or even how. Enji desperately wanted an answer.

One reason, one simple reason that didn't seem benign or superficial. He sat at the desk of his home office staring at his cell phone waiting for it to go off. He almost begged for it to go off, he wanted something to get himself out of this hole he had found himself in. No matter what, it got deeper.

He picked up the cell phone dialling the same number he always did. The only one he knew by heart. The phone rang, Enji knew she wouldn't pick up, but it never hurt right? The ringing sounded deafening and he was ready to just hang up but he couldn't. He just couldn't.

"Hello hello! Enji, I'm probably sleeping my love. If you need me just ring twice, if it's anyone else go away and call XXX-XXXX."

"Happy Birthday..." Enji put the phone closer to his ear, "Shoto's sport's festival is today. Watch over him, I'm going there to watch too. It's been so long but it's strange not having you here."

Enji picked up a small wrapped box he's had just as long, "I love you, miss you. Bye." Could he even remember the way her breath smelled in the morning? How she tried harder than everyone to be the number one hero? The way her lips tasted after she had ungodly amounts of coffee?

Enji just wanted to remember every little thing, to never forget. But he has.

"Father, Shoto and I are leaving. Have a good day."

"Bye Fuyumi," Enji set the box down and folded his hands and leaning on them. He closed his eyes just trying so hard to remember her warmth. He reached to dial her phone number again but retracted. He didn't want to have to clear out the voicemail box sooner than he had too.

Once a week he'd always call, he tried not to call often but when he was beyond reason or just stressed he'd call to hear the 15 seconds of her voice. It was a horrid reflex that Enji wished he could forget. Not that he hasn't tried but hearing her voice, even that dumb voicemail helped.

A girl stood in a hall, she traced the same walls like she's done every day for years. She yearned to leave. She was all that was left of this place, everyone she'd come to know had gone now. It'll be a little while longer before she could leave but she'd wait.

There was nothing there to remind her of her past, it was painfully silent and she'd grown tired of her own voice but she never dared to stop talking to herself for fear of going insane. There were no birds, no animals. She was completely isolated.

"Enji, Enji, I miss you..." She mumbled laying down on the floor, there was nothing to do.

"Just a while longer, I've waited this long for you to save me what's a while longer. I can't die or age here, I mean I don't feel older. And he hasn't finally killed me yet." She rolled over onto her stomach tracing shapes and words into the floor.

"My sister and all of our friends are relying on me to come back... When we get back we can do whatever we want. Go on a trip, get a dog, drink coffee..." She stopped moving and yelled in frustration. She stood up and stomped through the halls.

How did she get here? What did she do to deserve such unfair and unjust treatment? How did she get on the villain's bad side when she was barely an established pro? She couldn't care at all about herself though, all she wanted to know was how Enji was.

Was her sister taking care of him? Was he sleeping? Was he not overworking himself? Was he okay? Was he lonely? There were so many in answered questions about herself, about Enji, about life in the general sense. She'd move the world for Enji, she just wants him to continue loving her while she's gone.

More than anything she missed the tired morning kisses. The way he smiled whenever she would offer coffee, knowing damn well he hated coffee. The way would just stare and call her beautiful. And the sound of his voice, even the stupid way he'd say her name.

Enji stood staring at the short boy with unruly green hair. He looked so much like her. Enji didn't know who this kid was but he could be her son the look so similar. However, there was no way she could have a kid and he knew that. Maybe it was her sister's son, even then did he want to know. Next to the boy was All Might and a sour taste was in his mouth.

He should have come to this school with all of the little things that made him remember the past. He didn't want to remember but the universe seems to like playing him like a fiddle. Give him a hard time.

"Endeavor."

"All Might." Enji crossed his arms staring down at the hero, god how he hated him. Reasons upon reasons stacked up in themselves as to why he hated All Might. Some say it's their desires to be Number 1, to be the best hero.

The All Might and Endeavor rivalry all started with one girl. One name. Izumi Midoryia.
