Their job was menial, entering current sales figures into the computer that it then converted into charts and graphs of monthly as well as yearly sales and revenue. it didn't require much brainpower, just entering numbers and hoping u didn't miss something cause then you'd have to stay all night making it up like Brian did like last week, thought not working as hard as brian who wanted a promotion and thus corrected all his errors in one night, you'd have to stay late for multiple nights, not even counting it as overwork because it was an error, it needed to be rectified, and you hated correcting errors, and u hated ur job too, a little bit
but usually, you got it correct. they were just numbers after all. and as u entered those numbers your hands were full and your eyes were full, but your brain only needed surface motivation, the rest of it wandered. wandered to your exes and your flings and why the last one just moved out without even informing you, blocking you on all social media except Facebook, where u got to see the wedding invitation they sent you to a girl they just started seeing 4 months ago, but u broke up three months ago?!
"hey" Jin broke him from his reverie, at a good time too, his thoughts were about to visit a part of his brain too entangled in ivies to come back from
he grunted, his way of asking Jin what he wanted
"mountains or beaches?"
He gave it some thought and then said, "mountains, beaches this time of the year it's gonna suck, the heat, the moisture, yuck. Mountains", he assured
Jin laughed "of course mountains, u wouldn't choose beaches even if they were pleasant, u hate going into water with crowds around"
He gave a nod, albeit surprised that Jin knew this about him. It happened sometimes, he'd be telling a story and Jin would interrupt, oh that's the place you visited last month, oh you love that food, not big things, just small things, small enough to be insignificant, but large enough to take up space in his heart-his favourite food, that places he wanted to visit, artists he wanted to see.
But knowing these things about someone, would it even lead to something! it would all eventually turn into despair and gloom and his ex-fiancé would leave him for a girl
No.
No thoughts straying to broken engagements.
Yoongi looked at Jin for a moment, before asking
"What about you? White chocolate or dark?"
He wouldn't let the thoughts resurface. He couldn't.
Their job was menial. Not a lot of brainwork.
So this is what they did.
Asked questions.
Gave answers.
Favourite food.
Least favourite colour.
Dawn dishwash or Pioneer one.
Campervan or xuv.
Anything to keep the thoughts at bay.
But somewhere in between, it had started becoming a bit more.
Jin would guess his answers, before he even gave them. And even a little more.
He'd go by his desk, abruptly place a Tiffin box near his keypad, mutter something like "made a bit extra today" and go on his way to his desk. He'd open the tiffin and it would be his favourite kimchi, the one he'd just been raving about the other day, not realising Jin was paying attention to him.
He didn't know what to do.
He ate the kimchi.
"White chocolate."
Huh.
"Huh?"
"U asked dumbass., White chocolate or dark? White. I don't like dark, it's bitter."
Oh.
Oh yeah. He'd asked a question
"You and your damn sweet tooth.
" He muttered.
Going back to typing the numbers, signifying he was busy.
It happened a lot lately. Jin would talk to him about something, and he'd get distracted .
Not about other things.
No, no.
He wasn't even thinking about how the dishes were piling up at home, or he needed to call a plumber about how the pipe was leaking but just at night, as though to avenge him, as though it was done that way by his ex to annoy him-
No.
No.
He wasn't going there again.
"Perfect Date" He blurted, and then hoped Jin hadn't heard him.
As was his luck, Jin looked up at him.
His ears pinked. 'Huh. Why do u ask?"
" The questions. It's your turn to answer."
Don thought for a minute before saying "Lake. Near a lake. Some swans. Picnic food. And easy talk, u know? Someone who's easy to talk to?"
Jin looked at him with purpose, as though trying to tell him something but he purposefully avoided his eyes, choosing to pretend to resume work.
His heart was beating a bit too loud.
It happened sometimes.
It happened sometimes, when Jin leaned his head in his cubicle to look at the sales figures, when he dropped off an extra tiffin, when he laughed at some stupid joke Yoongi made.
yoongi went back to entering numbers.
It didn't mean anything.
But sometimes, his heart fluttered around Jin.
Fuck it, he decided.
He cleared his throat to get Jin's attention.
Jin looked at him expectantly, waiting for the question.
"A Date. You and me? The park near the river? Yes or no?"
Jin listened to him, his smile getting wider, "Yes. Yes yes yes. I thought you'd never ask."
Yoongi smiled, his gums showing.
"Okay. Okay"
Okay. He had a date. He smiled, wondering if his heart was beating louder or his smile was getting bigger.
He had a date.
He had an answer.

EPILOGUE
Yoongi and Jin watched the sun set on the water, their picnic baskets empty and stomachs full. It was a sunny day, and Yoongi had brought Jin to the lake, just like the last two Sundays, the place of their first date now turned into a weekly outing.
Yoongi could ask many questions nowadays, and get answers to all of them.
Noodles or pasta?
Of course, noodles.
Stay in or go out for breakfast?
Trick question, that Yoongi just asked to mess with sleepy Jin.
The correct answer was of course, order in pancakes from their favourite breakfast place down the street.
Now, he gazed at Jin as he was looked out at the lake, small frown on his face.
He placed his hand on Jin's, drawing his attention back to Yoongi.
"Hey, One more question", he said quietly.
Jin looked at him some more, and the replied "Go ahead."
"We've been good, right? All this time? We're good, right?"
Jin clasped his smaller hand in both of his, and smiled, "Yeah, yoongi-ah. We're good. Really good."
Okay then.
That was good.
Yoongi smiled.
"One more question"
"Okay. But then I get to ask you one. Anytime I want" Jin said, grinning.
"Okay."
Fair deal.
"Move in with me" Yoongi said.
Jin stilled just for a second before launching himself at Yoongi.
His arms were around Yoongi and
his voice was muffled as he spoke from around Yoongi's neck, "Was wondering when you'd ask. I'd gotten tired of leaving hints, and socks, around the house."
Yoongi smiled.
He'd picked up the hints, as well as the socks, every time.
Hey Jin abruptly asked him, as they got up to leave.
"Your turn. To answer."
Jin's smile widened, and Yoongi feared what was coming
"Who are you? Min yoongi or mine yoongi?"
Jin sad, his small smile morphing into a huge grin.
"How long did it take you to come up with that?" Yoongi asked with a smirk.
"Are you stalling?" Jin asked, one eyebrow raised.
Yoongi gave in to the temptation, and smiled, pulling Jin close in for a kiss.
"Yours. All yours. Always yours."
