Chapter Text
I was watching The Beagle Birthday Breakout for like the hundredth time.
"Lena! I mean love you but like Webby deserves better." I rolled my eyes as Lena talked bad about the triplets and Duck family.
I was at home watching a marathon of Ducktales ignoring the storm outside. It was almost midnight when it started picking up pretty bad. I heard a lightning bolt hit the ground outside my house. The house shook and a blinding light filled my eyes. I felt my back hit something soggy. I blinked and a small child in my face. A small child, with a bill.
"Ahhhhhh!" I rolled over to try to get away but didn't get far seeing as I was sinking into sand and waves crashing into my back.
"Guys!" He screamed and waved towards someone. I recognized the voice immediately. The fact he was wearing a green hoodie also help. I floundered for words as he turned back towards me. "What are you?"
I looked over to who he had screamed at. A boy in a red hat and a girl with a pink bow, who where talking and another boy, in blue shirt, were unloading a boat. They looked at the boy in front of me and dropped everything, running towards us.
"Wow, what is she?" Blue asked.
I didn't say anything. Red pulled out a book and flipped through it. The cover read 'Junior Woodchuck Guide'.
"Maybe she's some sort of bigfoot?" I looked them over.
(This is a dream.) I thought as something touched my hand. It was a bottle the waves was pushing ashore. I looked at it and the girl seemed to stare at it so I handed it to her. Hesitantly, she took it and read it to herself; the boys read over her shoulder.
"Wait is this another prank?" she asked. Another bottle touched my hand. I handed that one as well and she read it. "She didn't ditch me! She was captured! Oh wait, she was captured! Come on we've got to save her."
"What about her?" The boy in blue motioned towards me.
"I can help if you want," I smiled.
(Even if this is a dream it could be fun.)
They gasped.
"You can talk?" Red asked.
"Of course," I laughed. They stood their in shock. "My name's ____!"
There was a moment of silence.
"Nice to meet you, ____. I'm Huey. These are my brothers Dewey and Louie. This our friend Webby," Huey introduced them.
Dewey waved. Louie snapped a picture with his phone. Webby's jaw was laying on the ground.
"Soooo, do we have a plan to get your friend back?" That put them in gear.
They ran over to a radio. Webby pulled me behind her and she turned the dials for a minute before Ma Beagle's voice rang through it.
"I'm on my way boys. I may not have gotten to eating my birthday cake but at least I'll get a little slice of revenge." The old lady's voice rang out.
"We have to help her," Webby yelled.
"We should go get Uncle Scrooge, Beakley, and couple tanks," Louie suggested, counting on his fingers for emphasizes.
"There's no time. Look, me and Lena fought a truck, beat the Taquitos, and where British together." Webby words sounded like nonsense but made me smile.
"I don't know what any of that means," Dewey replied.
"Now you know how I feel half the time. You wouldn't leave each other behind and I'm not leaving her. Now come on." She marched off. She turned around and looked over her shoulder. "And this time I'm getting a spot in the stupid boat."
"You heard the girl!" I grabbed Louie's and Huey's hands and ran after towards the boat.
We pulled the boat in the water upside down and put it over us. Then we started swimming toward the out door theater where Lena was being held. When we reached it Webby climbed up and tried to untied Lena.
"Webby you came!" she whispered-yelled.
"Like I would ditch you? We're the Beagle Birds." Webby struggled to undo the knot. I climbed up to help her.
"Who's your friend?" she asked.
"Oh this is ____. We met her on the beach," Webby explained.
She pulled on Lena's ropes but she was too rough and stumbled. I reached for her but I was to late and she managed to bumped into the light switch. We were now visible to the whole Beagle family. We stood and ran towards the edge of the stage but I was caught in Bouncer's gaint hand. I pounded on his fist. He managed to get my hand is his other hand and Burger tied a a rope around them. Bouncer let go and pushed towards a pole where Lena was struggling. I saw as one of the brighter brothers noticed that the boys in the boat. Big Time tied me to the pole and Bouncer moved to grab the boys and dangled them upside down in his hand.
"You two lady's have given us a lot of trouble tonight but it will be worth it when Ma see here birthday gift," Big Time said, tying one last knot.
"We got some early Mother's Day and Christmas shopping out of the way too," Bouncer said.
Lots of comments about me started to fly around.
"What is she?" "She's gross looking." "That's not very nice." "Wasn't meant to be nice." "She's kinda cute." "In a weird way maybe."
"She can hear you!" I yelled at them they shut up. I looked over at the girls who were fighting each other. "Guys, stop fighting."
"You don't tell me what to do!" Lena spat.
"Well excuse me. I was just trying to help," I fired back.
"Now they have what we have." Huey sounded like proud mother.
"Now I remember why I avoid family," Lena started but I cut her off. I remember this part.
"All they do is fight!" We looked at each other and shut up. Lena smiled and waited for the right time.
"Any questions?" One of them asked after talking about ma's whereabouts.
"Yeah I got one, which one of you is handing us over?" Lena asked
"Say what now?" One of them asked.
"I mean you could all hand us over and share the credit or," I prompted.
"Obviously we should do it. I mean we're like the main guys?" Big Time spoke up.
"Give someone else a chance." "Yeah!" "Sorry, braaa, we don't believe in following." "Yeah and I'm pretty sure they were adopted." "That was uncalled for, Mister. Even if I heard the same rumor." *Whistling* "Who threw that?" "Fight!" "Fight!" "Fight!"
They started fighting. Someone fell on a fog maker - probably left over the long forgotten production - turning it on. I gagged at the smell. Webby walked up the pillar she was tied to, Mulan style. Then she bit through her rope. She ran to us and untied us. We spotted the guy holding the triplets and ran at him.
Webby jumped on his head. I jumped on his chest and Lena tripped him. He released the boys and we all fell into a heap. Lena grabbed my hand to help me up and we ran towards the boat. Huey, Dewey, Lena, and me sat in the seats. Louie was in my lap and Webby was in Lena's.
I helped Huey row with a second makeshift oar we had grabbed. Louie looked like he was going to barf and the others watched the fight end. I heard Ma Beagle pull up.
"None of you get birthdays this year!" I laughed at her threat.
We joked and laughed all the way back to the mansion, which was a short boat ride and long walk up a mountain.
"That was awesome!" Webby screamed in my ear. "How you made the Beagle Boys fight each other so we could escape and then-"
"Well you shimmied up that pillar like a pro," Lena said.
"You put the whole Beagle family against each other with a question," Huey marveled.
"You are my new favorite," Louie added.
"No biggie." She changed to a British accent. "That's what family is for, ya Englibeth?"
"Oh, I know you would come through in a spot, Britannia." They said some more made up words and laughed. The boys stared at them. "You kinda had to be there."
Webby and Lena's words dissolved into laughter. I yawned and could see the sun rising.
(Can you get sleepy in dreams?)
"Oh, you never told ____ your name!" Webby shouted.
"Lena." We shook hands.
"____," I repeated.
"____. That's unusual," Huey mused.
"Says Hubert." - D "Shut up, Dewford." - H "Fight. Fight! Fight! Whhhhat?" Louie asked after earning stares from the other two.
I laughed and yawned again.
"You must be tired." Webby's eyes flashed pink as did Lena's amulet. "Oh! Do you want to spend the night?"
"Sorry, I can't. Got to get back home. Bye guys." Lena waved as she walked off looking at her necklace.
"I would love to. If you think it's okay. Wouldn't want to impose."
"Noooo, its fine." She pressed buttons on the gate and it opened.
We made the long haul up the driveway. Then she lead me to her room. She almost instantly passed out on her bed. I laughed and covered her up with her blanket. I managed to find my way to her bathroom without getting lost and took a shower. Unfortunately I had to put my dirty clothes back on for lack of an alternative.
I walked back to Webby's room and stole a blanket and pillow and curled up on a chair in the bottom part of her room. I had planned on snoring the night away but my dreams had other plans.
...
I blinked and I was sitting in Scrooge's Money Bin. I ran my hand through the coins. I wanted to call out but no one seemed to be in here. I stood up and felt a cool breeze.
(There shouldn't be any wind in here.)
I heard an evil crackle and a pink fog bubble in front of me. When it cleared Magica was standing a few steps in front of me.
"Okay, weirdest dream ever." I mumbled.
"This isn't a dream, child! I ripped you from you home and you're stuck here now." She let out an ear piercing laugh that echoed and bounced off the coins. "If you wish to return home all you have to do is, retrieve Scrooge's number one dime."
I shot up, now very awake.
