Chapter Text
[]Tubbo POV[]
I hummed a song while I sat in a flower field.
"Boo!" I heard someone yell behind me. I screamed and sat up swiftly. I turned around and saw my best friend Tommy behind me. He was laughing, and I turned around, blushing from the embarrassment that Tommy had scared me so easily.
"Meanie," I mumbled. Tommy started to laugh harder.
Those were the good days when me and Tommy were kids. A time when we could sneak out and meet at our secret spot. A time when the kingdoms were at peace. A time where my room wasn't heavily guarded because of a war. A time when my brother wasn't in his room all day, missing his lover. A time when dad had time for us. The times I missed.
But now I lay in my room, thinking about the times I missed so dearly. I missed Tommy, our secret spot, my brother, my dad, and most of all, my freedom. I missed when I could go outside by myself, and go wherever I want in the castle by myself. I missed not having guards breathing down my neck at all times.
I sat up out of bed and walked over to the open window. If even for only a little while, I wanted to see our spot. So I did something I haven't done since I was a kid. I climbed out of the window and onto the roof. I had done this many times when I was a kid. I smiled remembering those times as I carefully climbed down the roof.
[]Tommy POV[]
I stared out of the open window. I was thinking of ways to escape the castle. A few minutes ago I had been thinking of my best friend, Toby, or Tubbo as I liked to call him. It had been years since I had seen him. Tubbo lived in the kingdom of wealth, and I lived in the kingdom of hardcore. The kingdoms had been at war for years. Mine and my brother's rooms had gotten guarded heavily so I couldn't sneak out.
Unless the guards came into my room, no one would notice. My dad and my brother Wilbur were making war plans. My other brother Technoblade was in his room. Ever since the kingdoms went to war, my brother hasn't been able to see Dream, his boyfriend, so now he just stayed in his room all day.
While I was looking at the ground I saw a pond. I realized if I could fall in the pond I could get down. So, before I could hesitate any further, I jumped out of the window. I now realized that this was a stupid idea. But I kept my eyes on the pond. I closed my eyes out of fear.
Splash!
I fell into the ice-cold water. I swam to the surface of the pond. I coughed and climbed onto the grass. I panted heavily on the soft, now wet, grass. I stood up glad that it had worked. I walked over to the garden wall. I started to climb over it. I eventually reached the other side. I looked out into the forest.
I started to run in the woods. my feet kicking up dirt as I ran. By the time I was there, I saw someone. A boy with brown hair staring at a bee. He must have heard me because he whipped his head around. And then, we locked eyes.
"Tubbo?" The boy stood up and ran over to me. He hugged me tightly. I hugged him back. While we were hugging, it started to rain. I dragged him under a thick tree so we could avoid the rain.
"Been a while," I said while we looked at the rain.
"Yeah," Tubbo said. We sat in comfortable silence. I never wanted this moment to end. I never wanted to leave his side again.
~~~~
We had sat there for a while talking about different things.
"Tommy, what if we ran away?" He asked. I sat up and looked at him.
"like when we were kids?"
"Yeah, but we don't get caught this time,"
"Where would we go?"
"Well," He grabbed a stick and started to draw some circles in the dirt. "I think we should go to the Rainbow kingdom," He pointed to the circle at the bottom.
The Rainbow kingdom was a kingdom led by king Eret. Their flag was a rainbow flag. Simulating gay pride.
"What if we went to the holy lands instead," I suggested. The Holy land is a small village next to the kingdom of Rainbow and the kingdom of Diamond.
"Yeah, they don't associate with the kingdoms,"
The next few minutes were planning. We planned who would bring what, the fastest routes, and various other things.
"When should we leave?" I asked.
"Two days?" I nodded.
"Let's meet back in two days," I said, getting up. I reached out a hand to help him get up.
"Two days," He confirmed. And with a final goodbye, we both raced back to our castles.
"How did you even get out?" Techno whispered to me.
"I jumped out the window,"
Me and one of my brothers, Techno, were walking down the hallway to my room. He had found me while I was sneaking back in. We soon reached my room.
"Ok, bye," I said, walking into my room and closing the door. I sighed and leaned against the door. I looked through my wardrobe for a backpack. Wich, I had one. I smiled, I was excited. My family never paid attention to me. And they would always call me annoying or make fun of me. So I doubt they would care. They probably wouldn't notice.
Right?
~~~~
Soon The two days were up, and I was bolting through the woods. Taking a shortcut to our spot. I soon reached it panting. I sat up against a tree. Tubbo wasn't there yet. Me and Tubbo had decided that I would take food and clothes, and he would take money and weapons.
Soon Tubbo arrived, he was panting. He saw me and walked over to me. He fell against the tree. We sat there for a while. We talked about the plan once more.
We had estimated that getting there would take 12 days on foot. But since we were taking a different route, it would most likely be around 15 days. And we're also planning on stopping in the diamond Kingdom for a day, so 16.
After a while, we were ready.
~~~~
It's been a couple of days since we ran away. We were about halfway to the diamond kingdom. I found this journal to document stuff in. I can't help but wonder what my family is doing. I wonder if they care? -Tommy
As Tommy said, it has been a couple of days since we left. Tommy doesn't think his family cares, but I think they do, I also miss my family but am glad we're here. -Tubbo
[]Phill POV[]
"It's okay Phil,l we'll find him," Wilbur reassured me. Tommy had disappeared days ago. First, he didn't come to dinner. Then we were told he wasn't in his room and some of his stuff was missing. And, some food was stolen. So, we had guessed he had run away. There were guards everywhere.
"Your majesty," A guard said, coming into the throne room.
"You may speak,"
"There are reports of prince Tommy and the prince from the kingdom of wealth,"
"Send a squad,"
The guard bowed and left.
"Of course he's with Tubbo," I mumbled.
"It's ok, We'll get him back," I nodded at Wilbur.
I hoped so.
[]Tommy POV[]
This was bad, really bad. Guards were looking for us. And now, me and Tubbo, are crouching behind a bush. The holy-lands were about 2 hours away. And the guards made this extremely hard.
"Commander says we're heading east," The sounds of horses faded away. We waited a minute before crawling out of our hiding spot and running. The guards might've been close behind, so this was the best option.
After what felt like hours of running Tubbo collapsed. He huffed and panted on the floor. I sat beside him and offered him some water. He took the water and started to drink.
"You okay?" I asked him.
"Y-yeah, I just need to rest," I nodded. I laid back on the ground too. This was exhausting, being on the run constantly. But it wasn't the worst. I loved being able to do whatever I wanted. I never got this kind of freedom in the castle.
"Ok, I'm ready," Tubbo said. I stood up, and we started walking again. After a while, I started to see the purple flag with a white crown from the Holy-lands.
"We're here!" Tubbo yelled excitedly. We started to run.
~~~~
It's been about 2 months. Tubbo found a job at a bakery, I'm a hunter. I sell the meat I kill to a butcher. We live out in the woods in case of any guards search town, so we can get away quicker.
I was preparing to take the meat to the butcher when Tubbo rushed in. He was panting heavily.
"G-guards, from your kingdom," He panted. I ran over to him."They know were here,"
"We have to start packing," He nodded. We started to pack the essentials as quickly as possible.
"Let's go," I said. We left the cabin and started to run away from the cabin and deeper into the woods. Luckily the holy-lands only had a short cobble-stone wall to symbolize where the holy-land were. The wall was easy to jump over.
In a couple of minutes, we were out of the holy-lands. We were running when we heard a shout.
"After them!"
We started to run faster. I could hear the horses galloping behind us. I heard Tubbo yelp as he fell. I stopped to help him up. I was then yanked off him and pinned to the ground. I saw Tubbo also get pinned to the ground. I then felt something hard hit my head, and my vision faded to black.
I opened my eyes to see Tubbo staring back at me. He had a cloth in his mouth. I jolted awake and tried to get up. My hands were tied around my back, and my feet were tied together. It was dark out. I tried to talk but only muffled sounds came out. Tubbo looked at me with sad eyes. I stared back at him. I looked around. We were in a wagon. There were guards all around us. There was nothing we could do but wait.
~~~~
We were both soon taken inside the palace. My dad and sibling were less than thrilled at my escape. And we were now in the dungeon, so I didn't run away again, and because they were going to use Tubbo as leverage.
Tubbo was now sleeping in the cell next to me. I had a knife in my pocket. They didn't check us for weapons. I was trying to use it to pick the lock on the cell.
"You trying to escape?" I heard a voice say from the cell to my right. I almost dropped my knife.
"Yeah?"
"What're you in for?"
"Stealing," It was a lie, but I did steal, so not that far off.
"Me too, and I'm a hybrid,"
"From outside the ring?" I looked over to the cell.
The ring was a large wall around the kingdoms. It kept us safe from the outside world. There were creatures called hybrids on the other side. They looked like humans but had some magical traits.
"Yeah,"
"Why were you inside the ring?" I said, focusing on lock picking again.
"Getting food,"
I then heard a clicking sound, and the cell swung open.
"Yes!" I looked over to the cell next to me. "If I let you out, could you help us get outside the ring?"
"Yeah, and I'll let you live with me if you want,"
"Deal," I walked over to his cell and started to pick the lock. It was much easier now that I could see. The door soon swung open, and I stepped back. Then a man, who was much taller than me, stepped out. Half of his face was black, and the other was white. The black side of his face had a red-eye, and the white side had a green one. He also had handcuffs on. I took my knife and started to pick the lock on the cuffs.
"I'm Ranboo," He said.
"Tommy," The cuffs soon came off with a click. They hit the floor with a clinking sound. He rubbed his wrists, and I walked over to Tubbo. I started to pick the lock on his cell door as well. Soon the door to his cell was open too.
"Tubbo, wake up," I said, walking in and shaking him gently. He yawned and sat up.
"Tommy?" he asked. Then he shot up.
"Were getting out,"
"What? how?"
Then Ranboo walked in.
"This is Ranboo. he's taking us out of the ring,"
"Outside side of the ring?" I nodded. Then, the sound of footsteps could be heard. Ranboo came forward.
"Ready?" He asked, placing a hand on my shoulder. I looked at Tubbo, who nodded in response.
"Yeah," He reached out and placed a hand on Tubbo's shoulder.
"Might want to close your eyes," I closed my eyes.
Soon I felt the warm sun. I opened my eyes, and we were in a lush forest. Ranboo was panting heavily and laid on the floor. Purple particles floated away from his body, and he looked more human. His hair was brown, and his skin was tan. He also wore a black and white mask and sunglasses, and a suit with a red tye.
"Where are we?" Tubbo asked.
"Outside the kingdom of diamonds," He said, still panting.
"That's so far, are you ok?" Tubbo asked.
"I'm fine," He got up and stretched. He adjusted his tie. I stood up and helped Tubbo up. "Follow me," He said, as he started walking off into the forest.
After a bit of walking, we stopped outside of a wall. He started to walk along the wall until he stopped and turned to face us.
"Close your eyes again," He said. I closed my eyes and felt a hand on my shoulder.
"You can open them now," I heard him say. As I opened my eyes, we were in another forest, next to a beautiful clear stream with yellow fish that swam in it.
"Are we outside?" Tubbo asked.
"Yup, my house is around here, come on," He said. Me and Tubbo started to walk after him. The small stream soon led to a waterfall. The water was still clear, and it shimmered in the sunlight. Ranboo soon came to a stop in front of a log.
"This is my home," He said, gesturing to the log.
"You live in a log?" I asked.
"Nope, the log is the entrance," He said. He then crawled inside. Me and Tubbo looked at each other.
"I'll go in first," I said, I walked forward and crawled inside. The log opened up into a bigger room. I stood up and looked around shocked.
"Woah!" I heard Tubbo yell.
The room had a black couch and a white rug with a bookshelf in the corner in one half of the room. In the other half, there was a kitchen. There was a black fridge, with a counter. Ranboo was inspecting a green and red door. A look of realization came over his face as he looked at us.
"Would you two like to stay?" He asked. "You could share this room,"
I looked over to Tubbo. He looked back at me and smiled. I nodded at him.
"We would love to," He said.
