You’ve always wanted to hangout with Gundham Tanaka, but you weren’t sure if there was a right time or a proper way to approach him. You might’ve known about him just a bit when you were in high school, but the two of you never really talked/interacted with one another before.
At school, you’d see him in the halls but he’d always seem to be alone. Until you’d see that he’d have his four hamsters with him, popping out from underneath his student jacket and long purple scarf that he wore at all times. You wondered why the school board didn’t crack down on him for having animals on school grounds, thinking that was a bit weird. But you’d just mind your business. You’d see him at lunch and after school as well, noticing that he’d sometimes interact with other students, but you weren’t sure if those students were actually close to him or not. It looked like at first that they hung around him only because he would go on his rambles about animals, showing off his hamsters as well. In reality, it looked like they didn’t really listen, only caring about the four hamsters.
You never really questioned things like that until you started to see someone you were close with interact with him much more than the others. Sonia Nevermind, an exchange student from a small European country, who lived in the kingdom of Novoselic. She was almost around Gundham whenever they had the chance to interact, always acting chipper and happy whenever the two of them talked and whenever Gundham would bring out his hamsters.
Once after school, you overheard a conversation between the two of them. Catching at the corner of your eye, you noticed that Gundham was blushing at something that Sonia had told him, but didn’t hear what she said. Hiding his beet red face, he pulled up his scarf, covering the bottom of his face slightly. You’ve only seen him do it that one time. Other than that, it looked like you didn’t really know that much about him as a person or knew what his personality was like.
You’ve always wanted to ask Sonia about Gundham whenever the two of you would chat amongst one another in between classes, lunch, or after school sometimes. But whenever the opportunity would come up, Gundham would be close by, making you feel a bit flustered, excusing yourself before he’d showed up. Sonia would always be left feeling a bit confused and quite concerned on why you’d leave so early, and even in the middle of a conversation sometimes. But she knew that you’d come around eventually to tell her.
But you never did. Until now.

Your fingers hovered over the keyboard, biting your lip nervously as you began to type out a message to send to Sonia, who you haven’t seen in quite awhile. It’s been a few years since the two of you actually talked face to face, last time being at school graduation. The two of you promised to keep in touch in the future. You reread the message over and over, hoping that it didn’t seem too much. Finally hitting send, you sighed in relief, throwing your phone to the side. Well that’s one thing to get over with.
“Hey Sonia, it’s y/n. It’s been awhile since we’ve last contacted one another. It’s been what? 2-3 years since graduation? Guess I haven’t broken that promise that we made back then. I hope you’ve been doing well! Would you like to catch up over coffee or something sometime at the local cafe if you’re still in town?”
A few minutes later, you felt your phone vibrate in between the couch cushions. The screen lit up once you picked it up, almost dropping it down between the cushions again.
“Omg y/n it’s been so long!! I’ve been doing quite well actually, so thank you for asking!! And of course I’d love to catch up with you!! Are you free today maybe? Or sometime tomorrow afternoon?”
You quickly responded: “I’m free whenever honestly, but I can do it today. Meet you around 4?”
It didn’t take long for Sonia to reply: “4 works well for me! I’ll be getting off of my shift soon, so I’ll go home afterwards and meet you there! Can’t wait!”
You checked the clock to see that it was around 3, so there was about an hour to get ready. But you’d figure that you’d take your time with things. A thought popped into mind while getting dressed. You thought about what kind of job Sonia has and what she’s been doing these past couple of years. Sitting down on your bed with your pants unbuttoned, you wondered what Gundham has been up to as well. You shook your head. Should you really be wondering about him like this? You’ve never really talked to and or interacted with him before, so why? There was a flutter in your stomach suddenly.
“The hell is going on with me suddenly? Thinking about some guy that I’ve only seen at school back then, never talking to him ever.” Shaking your head once more, you buttoned your pants, trying to find a clean shirt to match with the rest of your outfit. “Get yourself together. You’re gonna have a nice, relaxing time talking to Sonia. You’re Just gonna catch up that’s all, and maybe, FINALLY bring up wanting to talk about Gundham and meeting him.” You spoke to yourself as you fixed your hair in the mirror, taking one last overlook of your outfit. Checking the time, it was already 3:30. Damn time flies by fast.
Might as well get going. Don’t want to keep Sonia waiting.
