Work Text:
Apparently, Pangzi suspected that Zhang Qiling would follow him and, to be honest, he wasn’t half bad at losing tails. He kept checking behind him a lot and if Zhang Qiling had been anywhere behind him then he would have been spotted already.
Zhang Qiling crouched on the edge of a bakery’s roof and watched as Pangzi got a snack from a street vendor. Pangzi might not have been half bad, but he still didn’t look up. Most people didn’t, thousands of years of evolution telling them that the predators were on the ground, that usually, nothing dangerous was above them. So Zhang Qiling chose the high ground, taking advantage of the fact that there were no buildings taller than two stories in the area, and that they were all packed closely together, making it easy to just keep to the rooftops and match Pangzi’s pace.
It wasn’t until after Pangzi got his snack and a coffee that he picked up his tail, or when Zhang Qiling actually noticed it.
