Summary
Kimura Akihiko had a nice girlfriend, a good spot on his high school's soccer club, and a decent group of friends. He was an average child that grew to be an average adolescent and would one day grow to be an average adult; but just because he wasn't main character material didn't mean he didn't have a story to tell.
Or: Bakugou Katsuki and Midoriya Izuku's post-redemption pre-relationship arc from the perspective of Bakugou's middle school friend.

Summary
On Sokka's first winter hunting expedition, the party got caught in a violent blizzard. As the gales howled outside of the animal hide tent, the men huddled together and prayed that this storm would not be their last. Yet, even surrounded by the trapped body heat that came from many people in very close quarters, Sokka grew colder, and colder, until desperation drove his body into a last-ditch attempt to save him, something not even he had known he could do-- firebend.
Although it was not the first, nor even the second or third thought that entered anyone's mind that day, it was a thought that the entire village eventually shared-- well, that explains a lot.

Good story, very interesting, with Sokka as a firebender (from a great-great granddad) and Zuko as a waterbender (from a great-great grandma). It affects their character arc a lot, each of them being potential outcasts from their cultures. (Sokka's village is understanding, and Zuko keeps his a secret on fear of execution.) Ends at 13/?, with Sokka discovering bending lightning while slowly travelling towards Ba Sing Se. Zuko, meanwhile, is washing laundry at a small town brothel. (Zuko got to train with Pakku and Yagoda and so knows how to heal and has saved Sokka's life a couple times, so their enmity is... much diminished.)

The spirits can provide guidance for many things. In the Southern Water Tribe, it is traditional for those who near adulthood to ask the spirits to guide them to their soulmates, someone whose spirit completes their own.

Cool, the deer spirit takes a liking to Sokka and helps him go visit Zuko pretty often from the time he's 8 years old. So when Zuko attacks the snow village for the Avatar... he knows Sokka on sight! (Sokka is very unimpressed with him.) It takes a while for Zuko to work out whether it's best to be loyal to his soulmate and the Avatar or loyal to his people, but he gets there in the end.
Meanwhile, Sokka's interacted with the spirit world so often that his spirit doesn't have a very good hold on his body, which has caused a few scares. He's been to the spirit world more often than Aang has!
Story ends on 39/? Probably only a chapter or two to go, gearing up for the final battle.
