Work Text:
The tip of the pen set down on the paper only to be discarded once again. The feeling that you want to pour all of your ideas and concepts out, but end up with nothing. The feeling of writers block, the lack of inspiration or creativity in this state. It feels like a never-ending emptiness.
"Uh.. Toko?" A familiar voice called, checking on her. "Are you doing okay? You've been sitting here for a long time!"
Toko had been constantly trying to plot down ideas for a new story for the past 2 hours or so, it honestly felt like longer than that because of the amount of weariness and bore it caused. Writers block was a pain in the ass, especially now that it's a quarantine and there is even less things to spark ideas from.
"Mm, what does it look like? Obviously I am h-having trouble even starting..! I can't even think of anything, not even a single idea! What else do I do.." Toko ranted, even doing that was more interesting then trying to reach for a single idea in the void of emptiness.
Komaru sighed, she didn't like seeing her girlfriend get stressed. Sure, she was usually gloomy per-say but it wasn't really a problem. Seeing her like this, made her feel quite down as well. She would want to do anything to make her feel comfortable again.
"Well, that sounds like quitee the hassle...!” She attempted to sound supportive, but in all honesty she wouldn't know what to do it in this situation either. Whenever she didn't have ideas to do something, she would just do something else like watch TV, read manga, or spend time with Toko in general doing some hobbies.
"Maybe try using the internet! We have devices here in our house for a reason. They have everything, I know for sure they would definitely have an idea for your story!"
Toko paused and just stared for a moment, "T-the internet? They would obviously g-give some overused story idea! Ones that anybody can think of at the top of their head! I prefer my ideas to be unique."
"Well then, I guess that kind of makes sense." Komaru said slightly smiling, trying to light up the mood. "Hey, Toki. Maybe try taking a break! Since you don't have motivation... or ideas... to work on a story we could try spending some time together and.. uh..."
"And what?" Toko questioned, also feeling a bit more relaxed.
"We could watch a movie! Watching movies are really fun, especially with someone else! And the fact that we are in quarantine as well... I'd say watching something really takes away the boredom." Komaru declared,
She was the type to always suggest something during dull moments. Toko honestly appreciated it, usually if she had an idea she would attempt to reject and continue working, but it didn't seem like that would be happening today.
"Well, c-considering I have nothing better to do anyway I guess that'd be nice.." She stammered, having a slight smile on her face.
"Amazing! I have a movie to watch, I just rented it a day ago! Come here.." Komaru excitedly said, leading Toko to the living room and giving a kiss on her cheek.
Toko blushed a bit, she really liked when Komaru would give kisses. It felt warm, and even more comforting. She started to daydream, deep in her thoughts, it felt everlasting until eventually snapping back to reality by Komaru's voice.
"Toko.. you finished yet? Earth to youu!" She teased a bit as she tried to get her to listen. She got kind of used to Toko randomly drifting from reality and having whatever kind of fantasy she has, it's gotten significantly less over the months but still quite prominent.
"Continue with what you were saying.." Toko uttered waiting for the movie Komaru was planning to show her.
"Oh, it's called A Silent Voice. I heard it's really sad but good. There is a summary right there on the screen."
The screen read, 'When a grade school student with hearing loss is mercilessly bullied, she moves to a different school. Years later, one of her tormentors decides to pay her back.'
"That sounds like those c-cliche enemies to lovers stories, is it really that good?" Toko addressed, wondering if this movie was going to turn out as a ‘masterpiece’ or a flop.
"Trust me, everyone says it is really good, so I am pretty sure we would both enjoy it!" Komaru claims, getting the movie started.
"If you say so, it had best better be d-decent."
"I am sure it will! Even if you don't like it, at the very least you've seen something new, right?" She assured, smiling once again. This was a very comforting moment for them both; they would be happier as long they spent time together.
They managed to do more for the remainder of the evening. It feels very good to have a day without working and just doing the opposite. In fact, doing this lead to a little spark of inspiration for Toko, the motivation she finally needed.
But for now, she just wanted to distract herself on something else, cuddling her girlfriend, even doing more things she hasn't tried before. Despite being in quarantine, this was still one of the nicest moments they could ever have.
