Ladybug gave him a shy smile, just as Chat Noir leaned in and gently placed his lips against hers. She didn't hesitate to lean in to match him, pressing hers against his. They shared a chaste kiss, short and sweet.
Ladybug could feel her body heating up, the action spreading a warm burst of energy, it cleaved through her body.
This feeling was so nostalgic. She could feel her mind being flashed with images of her first kiss with him. She didn't dare to forget the way his lips felt against hers. As she held his head in her hands and how silky his hair felt. Her cheeks flushed slightly at the thought.
Chat leaned in, pressing his body to hers, coming together like two puzzle pieces that fit perfectly together. Ladybug squeezed her eyes shut, focusing only on him as he seemed to take control of her senses. He gently caressed her shoulders, his hands trailing down to her biceps.
"Chat" she said softly, not completely pulling away, but breaking away from the trance his touch put her in. Her eyes fluttered open and met his green, feline ones, which reflected pure adoration and...sadness?
The sadness confused her. One moment they were talking and laughing as they sat atop the Eiffel Tower, which glowed in the dark light, and the next they were kissing, which is what he had always wanted. Or so she thought, noticing the sorrow evident in his posture as well. Patrols and their talks afterwards were the highlight of both their days...had she done something wrong?
“Chat, what’s the matter?’’ She questioned, her bluebell eyes filled with deep concern.
“I- I just don’t understand. Like one day you’re extremely adamant about keeping our relationship strictly professional. And now… you’re allowing me to invade you like this.” A dejected look had grown on Chat’s features.
“Invading?” Ladybug felt her anxiety rising as her eyebrows scrunched. “Chat you would never invade me.”
His expression remained unchanged, staring at her like his whole world was right in front of him, just out of his hands. Maybe it was. “Please tell me what’s going on. I don’t want to think,” He paused, taking a breath to calm himself. “I don’t want to think I can have you...and then have it be taken away.”
Her heart ached for him.
Ladybug reached out, her hands shaking, cupping both his cheeks. He grew hesitant, but didn’t pull away from her touch.
“Chat, I would never do that to you. I never wanted to toy with your heart like that…” She sighed before taking a deep breath. There it was, the question that had resided in her mind ever since she was thirteen, and still lingered even now at sixteen. Head or heart?
Chat gazed down at her with those kitten eyes she had fallen in love with over the years, entertaining the very real thought of climbing into his arms and staying there forever. It didn’t sound like a bad idea either, which scared her a bit, but in the most wonderful, beautiful, absolutely heart-warming way.
She knew what she had to do. She can’t keep playing this dangerous game anymore.
“I choose you Chat…and I won’t ever regret my decision. Just know that I am yours and that I wish I could’ve accepted terms with that sooner.” Her eyes brimmed with tears, as they slowly escaped and trickled down her cheeks. A warm smile growing on her face.
He stiffened, as if he was mentally preparing himself for her inevitable “but…” that always seemed to follow.
...It didn’t come.
Seeming to realize that she was his, after three full years of the unrequited love and rejections and just wondering if and when it would ever be their time, he melted against her. Seeing her sparkling eyes made his grow watery as well. He pulled her completely against him and squeezed her tighter, a sense of calm overtaking them both.
They had chosen each other.
