Chapter Text
Akali glanced at a tabloid picture with Evelynn standing next to a random celebrity, his arm draped loosely around the diva’s waist. The headline all big and flashy like ‘new romance in KDA Diva Evelynn’s life’ or something similar.
The rogue hadn’t been too interested in the details, averting her gaze away from the image quickly.
Normally, this wouldn’t bother her of course, articles and paparazzi would stretch things anyway.
However, Evelynn and her were an item now… Not that they were public with that information for a multitude of reasons. One of which being general privacy and the other being how acceptable it would be socially.
But Evelynn very much was aware of their relationship. And THAT was the important bit.
As of late, the diva had been spending her evenings out instead of back at the KDA house.
She hadn’t thought much of it at first, after all, Evelynn sometimes liked to go out on long drives at night while she was busy eating ramyun and working. She hadn’t begun to worry until she’d asked Eve one day if she could tag along, only for the answer to be ‘no’ before the diva waltzing out the door.
And then she’d seen the picture.
She had asked Ahri if she had known where her girlfriend went off to, but that had been met with a shrug and a hand wave. Simply ‘Evelynn being Evelynn’ or something like that.
That was when Akali began looking a little deeper.
It came as no surprise that the diva owned multiple properties across the continent. No doubt that was where she was going on her late-night drives.
Or so she hoped.
Akali waited outside one of the houses in question, having parked her motorcycle down the street after using the ‘find your friends’ app to track down Evelynn’s phone.
She stopped twice as she approached the door, her feet turning back towards her motorcycle as she contemplated bailing. As she thought about just how stupidly ridiculous this all was. How protective she was being given the circumstances…
This all just would be a misunderstanding… right? Surely. Just Eve reclining on the couch or having a business dinner?
Ugh. She was being paranoid.
She gently turned the handle of the door, making as little sound as possible as she slid through the slightly open door. For once happy for her training when she was younger. She closed the door behind her with just as little sound.
There was absolutely no turning back now.
She crept through the main entryway of the house, noting that not a thing was out of place. Large paintings decorated the walls, one of which she recognized as being Kai’sa’s handiwork.
She took note that there was no wine in the kitchen, no clothing strewn about the house, no sign at all that anyone was in the house at all. Including the diva… which soothed the rapper significantly, reassured her that she was just being ridiculous and should’ve discarded the thoughts as soon as they’d come.
She jumped as she heard the sound of something large and heavy-hitting the floor with a ‘thud’ followed soon after by Evelynn moaning, a sound she was well acquainted with.
She darted forward, not particularly caring if her presence was known by that point as she pushed open a door to what she could only assume was an office space.
She froze in the doorway.
There in the center of the dimly lit room was what she could only assume to be Evelynn. It was hard to say as two long glowing pink horns adorned her skull, her lashers wrapped around her as she sunk her glowing claws into what had once been a young man.
Blood pooled under the formerly living human as the creature turned, her glowing yellow eyes cutting through the dark.
Akali was horrified, her mouth dry as she looked at the nightmarish scene before her. She turned on her heel quickly only to have the door slam in her face.
“Wait, love, let me explain~”
--------
The night had almost been perfect. True ecstasy and utter bliss for Evelynn.
The now-dead man had been her date, some arrogant stockbroker who had rather spent the evening with her over his wife. Charming really.
It never ceased to amuse her just how easily rich and successful men who had so much would just risk it all for one night of pleasure~
Every. Single. Time.
She had been so invested in feeding on the man’s torment that she hadn’t heard the door open until her beloved was standing before her, witnessing the deliciously bloody scene.
She slipped from her demon shade, taking on her human form as the door was slammed shut, her yellow eyes still glowing in the dark as she regarded Akali.
For a moment after she spoke the only sound was her lover’s breathing. However, to the demon, the girl’s heart beating rapidly in her chest was also audible.
It was a sound she was quite familiar with~
Akali backed up against the door. “Eve… Wha-“
Evelynn cut her off with a kiss, still feeling the high from her most recent kill.
She hadn’t really ever planned on or had wanted her beloved to know her true nature, but then again she supposed it wasn’t something that could be hidden forever.
Especially, given they were somewhat serious in their intentions.
Akali recoiled when she tasted blood, turning green as the sight of the mangled body caught her eye in the dimly lit room. She pushed Evelynn away and blindly felt for the handle of the door before blindly stumbling out into the hallway.
The demon couldn’t help but roll her eyes at her lover’s reaction, following her out into the hallway and dragging her into the kitchen, and turning on the light.
She would have to deal with the mess later.
She grabbed Akali’s arm and sat her at the counter, her action a bit more forceful than it might’ve been normally. She then got the girl a glass of water, setting it in front of her rogue as she leaned next to her.
“Go on love, speak. Tell me what’s on your mind~” Evelynn purred, her eyes darting up to her lover’s face as she turned on the faucet to clean the blood off of her hands.
Akali swallowed, gritting her teeth and grabbing the cup with a shaking hand as she tried to control her breathing and play it off.
“What are you a demon or something? Guess that explains the eyes.” She brought the glass to her lips, looking away from the succubus.
She was unnerved and Evelynn could taste it~
Normally that was what she lived for, to sense their terror, to feel pain~
And at that moment, it was outstandingly clear that Akali was scared of her. Scared of what she had done, scared of what she could do. It took everything in her power to resist temptation.
It would be the most delicious meal ever given just how strongly Akali’s affection for her would amplify the pain she could inflict-
She stopped herself from pondering that thought further.
She didn’t have many people in her life that cared about her, just as there weren’t many people she cared about. However, on that very short list, Akali was at the top. Someone she strived to protect at all costs.
But it would be so easy~
“Very astute observation~” She leaned towards her lover, draping an arm over her shoulder and rubbing her arm in a soothing motion, resisting the urge to dig her nails into Akali’s skin.
“Using your stage persona with me is rather unbecoming, don’t you think love?” She inquired, frowning as she felt Akali stiffen under her touch.
“Who said I was using my stage persona? I’m just… never seen a dead body before.” She forced a shrug and ran her hand through her bangs, making them stick up more than they were in the first place, prompting Evelynn to smooth them down.
“Because I know you~”
Akali stared at the glass of water in her hand as Evelynn presented her point. She fell silent as her brain tried to sort through the information she’d been presented with.
Her blue-gray eyes darted back and forth, her foot tapped the ground lending credence to her anxious state as her mind tried to figure out what to do.
“I would recommend you put all thoughts of calling the police aside.” Evelynn stated plainly, her voice cutting through the silence.
For the first time since being brought to the kitchen Akali’s head turned to look at her, her mouth slightly agape.
“I- I wasn’t.”
Evelynn wasn’t convinced.
Humans were almost hardwired, brainwashed even to call the authorities when it came to gruesome scenes such as the one the girl had stumbled across. No doubt some natural urge to try and protect their species.
The demon leaned towards her lover, her gaze half-lidded.
“Good. Because it would be a shame if I had to take a new guise and move to a new country. Just imagine how crushed the other girls would be if I was no more because of some pointless scandal.”
She wasn’t about to sit in a jail cell wasting away because of the foolish actions of her human lover.
Besides, once Akali got over this little personal hurdle of hers their relationship would be stronger now that she knew the truth. She was certain of it.
Evelynn simply had to be patient~
