Miya approached the counter and knelt so his chin rested on the ledge. The fennec fox approached him, warily sniffed his nose, then gave the boy’s cheek a tentative lick before leaping onto his shoulder and burrowing into the hood of his sweatshirt. Oka gave him a hopeful look and it didn’t take much more to convince Miya to call his parents.
