You Make Emerald Beautiful Again

Summary:

“You aren’t lying but you're hiding something,” Hilda kept her voice soft, yet it seemed firm. “It’s been a year now, Rav, I think you need to move on.”

“I don’t want to,” Ravio scoffed. “Besides, no one really wants me either, Hildie. I’m just some merchant who was lucky enough to end up with the triforce of wisdom.”

“That’s where you’re wrong, Rav,” Hilda exhaled lightly and lifted her head, grabbing his chin to face her. “You’re not just someone who got lucky. The triforce chose you, and any man or woman would be more than lucky to have you at their side.”

Ravio cracked a smile, “You flatter me, your highness.”

Work Text:

Hilda and Ravio sat on the balcony outside of the queen’s room, the duo silent as they stared up at the night sky. The silence between them was comfortable, and the only thing disturbing it was the occasional gust of wind.

The queen broke the silence with a soft, “How was your journey today?”

Ravio flinched. Right, she meant his suicide mission into the woods to try and save a group of guards, “It went well enough. Lost a man but what can you do?”

Hilda nodded slightly and leaned her head against his shoulder, closing her eyes. “And what of you and Link?”

“Visited him today, he’s officially engaged to Queen Zelda as of noon.” He felt his throat getting tight. “He was happy, so happy. It was nice to see.”

But I wish it was me making him so happy.

“I mean it, Rav,” Hilda’s voice lost the firm edge it had to it. “You’re a good person, and a loving partner.”

Ravio relaxed the slightest as Hilda moved her hand to cup his cheek. He closed his eyes and leaned into the touch, the smile never leaving his face. Whenever he was hurting, she was there. Always comforting him, being the person he needed to guide him in the darkest of times.

“Rav?”

“Yes Hildie?”

“May I,” Hilda seemed to pause, before cupping his other cheek. He opened his eyes slightly, raising an eyebrow.

Hilda smiled nervously. The queen, the wielder of the triforce of power, stood before him, nervous.

“Hildie?”

Her eyes avoided his and she lowered her hands, holding them in front of her. She fidgeted with her gloves, seeming to get lost in thought.

Ravio gently cupped her cheek, “Hildie, hey, what did you want to do,,?”

Scarlet red met the familiar forest green and she smiled shakily,

“I was going to ask if I could have a kiss.”

Ravio felt his face flush with warmth, startled by her request. Though, he lowered his gaze to her lips and lightly nodded, leaning in.

Hilda felt her heart stop and she leaned to meet him, lightly placing her hands against his chest. The two melted into one another, feeling at ease as they moved closer to each other.

Ravio moved his free arm around her waist and smiled against her lips, a warmth blossoming in his chest.

Maybe he did want to move on.
