Damnit. Though she wasn't staring into his soul, he was still squeamish under her gaze. "Hey." he said awkwardly, trying to hide his plushie.
Much to his dismay, Vanessa instantly noticed the plushie hanging lamely from his hand. She blinked. "What's wrong?" she asked voice muffled from sleep.
"I, uh..." He halfheartedly considered to lie and tell her he was just gonna get a glass of water. But he was suddenly so tired. "I can't sleep."

When Gregory can't sleep, he strolls through apartment and accidently stumbles his way into a late night conversation.

I'm", she sobbed and Evan couldn't make out her words, "can you get Dad please?"
Her upset state was starting to effect him too. He put a hand on the handle. "What? Why should I get Dad? What happened?"
"I'm bleeding!"

But if it wasn’t… if Gregory’s simple kindness was genuine…
“I’m Evan,” he finally whispered, sniffling.

The typical time travel story? NO
It was already 9:00 p.m. when Michael, who usually came home much earlier, made his entrance. Something in his attitude was different. Instead of the usual brusqueness and disregard for the rules of the house, he seemed to be enveloped in a kind of calm. He ignored Dad, who was in the living room, and headed straight for him and Elizabeth.
Evan's surprise was total when his brother, with an expression that was halfway between despair and tenderness, hugged them both. It wasn't the kind of gesture she would expect from him, much less after having seen him tease her with that unpleasant mask.
From the corner of the room, William, the boys' father, watched the scene with a mixture of surprise and confusion. The way his eldest son had behaved, the abrupt change in his behavior, and the way he was clinging to his brothers, all of that was a mystery to him. He stopped his reprimand to watch, wondering what had caused such a transformation in his son. The question was drawn in his mind: What had happened for his stupid son to change? Was it a simple emotional reaction, or was there something deeper behind this sudden change?

Summary
“Hello?” The voice is soft and clear, and for a moment, Henry’s sure it’s Michael who’s talking. “Who is this?”
“Mike? Is that you?” Henry asks, desperate, and maybe even hopeful.
“Ah,” comes the answer. Henry’s about to lose his mind. “Henry. So you heard…”
It’s Will, Henry realizes. Of course, it’s Will, Henry is still just in shock.
“What’s going on, Will? Police came to my house! They— they said Michael’s missing. That he’s been missing for days. That’s— that can’t be right. Is— are you okay? Are the kids okay? Are you?” Henry asks in one breath, and he clings to the phone cord. “Will, say something, damn it!”
It's March 16th, 1983, and Michael William Afton has just been declared missing. Henry Emily takes it upon himself to find out what happened to his best friend's kid.
