Day 5 - Do You Want Fries With That?

Summary:

Cere brings two very special people a meal.

Notes:

This is for Day 5 – Feeding Time. Time to bring to the light another idea I’ve had for quite some time. These three have a very, very complicated relationship and...well, it’ll be better explained on another day. ^.^

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Detective Nash Quillan and Detective Elton Niles had to be two of the most stubborn, infuriating men Cere had ever met in her life.

She wasn’t completely without reason. It didn’t take a genius to understand that this was a huge case and time could easily slip away from someone. However, she had a very difficult time believing that time could slip away from these two so easily this often given how long they’ve been living. It didn’t help that the person who gave her the order had been rude to hell and back. Just thinking about the exchange was enough to make her angry all over again.

“Deep breath, count to ten. Don’t lose it, count to ten.” As she began to take her own advice, the elevator stopped on the floor she needed. “Eight...Nine...Ten.”

She let out a deep breath and raised her hand to knock on the door she stopped in front of only to recall what time of day it was. With a curse, she balanced the drink tray she was holding as she fumbled for her keys. Finally hunting down the correct ones, she opened the door as quietly as she could manage. Cere couldn’t close the door without banging around and made haste to set everything down on the office table before stealthy making her way back to the door.

A final, soft ‘click’ which made her wince was the only sound to follow by the lock and her own sigh of relief. She removed her coat, slinging it over her arm and placed her shoes by the door. Cere put her coat over the couch, walking back to the kitchen area. With a double check of her watch she then made her way back to where she had set the food down and began to put it away. This routine was nothing new to her: all old containers in the trash, new containers where they could get them: Type B Positive on the top, and Type O Negative on the bottom.

With a final nod after double checking the locations of everything, she quietly closed the door and went to check on the inhabitants inside the office. Their bedroom door was still closed and she could sense no movement which was a great sign. Cere took a double count to make sure they had enough supplies to last until her next stop over here if they called and sat down at Nash’s desk.

Her eyes rested on the contents of the open folder. The fact that it was even there to begin with means that Elton had to rush Nash to sleep because he insisted on staying awake to try to solve a few more cases. Again.

Silly vampire, when will you ever learn?

The thought filtered through her mind and she couldn’t help but smile. Ever since her world had been turned upside down they had been with her every step of the way. Honestly, from what she’s seen the last few weeks she doesn’t know how they’ve managed to do it without her. This would make the second time this month they’ve messaged her to come by with more supplies because they’re so busy they can’t hunt.

Ah, well, it’s not like I mind helping and it was quite true. She never asked for anything in returned for her assistance though they’ve always managed to find some way to return her kindness for doing them these favors. At times, there was more Cere wished she could do to help them. But until that time came? She had no issues being the delivery service they needed.

With one final look around the room, she gathered the trash and took it with her to the door after she put her coat back on. Heels firmly back in place she left as quietly as she came.

Rest well, gentlemen. We need you all at your best.
