No one knows this thing I feel:
This ache of my soul…
The throb of my twisted,
Gnarled heart…
I need it.
Or rather,
Want it
(Or so they say)
Those around me,
They warn me of the dangers of
Obsession
Desire
Infatuation
But I don’t care!
Why should I?
The pleasure of allowing
My body have the control-
It fulfills me
For awhile…
I’m gratified
For a few perfect moments…
And yet no
Physical euphoria
Can satisfy me—
I can’t get what I want:
I want you!
Here.
Now.
But what do I really crave?
A body
Or a soul?
I want that feeling you give to me.
That swoop in my stomach…
It’s all from you.
I want the moments
Shared between us,
Back when I was
Young
Happy
Innocent
But I want more than just that.
I need a connection
A brush of your hand
A searing embrace
Your strong arms
Clutching me,
Bodies pressed
Together…
A tender kiss
On the brow
The cheek
The lips
I lust for you, plain and simple…
Still,
Despite my
Self-centered desires
Somewhere there is purity:
The innocent intentions from
So many years ago
It hides among the thorny brush
Lying upon my heart.
