After Nya...left no one slept only Cole even tried to. The others didn’t even bother with trying to.
Kai and Jay locked themselves in their rooms not long after the former Water Master’s honouring. And the others can be certain that neither of them had been doing any sleeping.
It’s nearly four days after Nya’s departure that Pixal’s sensors registered that Kai needed to sleep sometime that day otherwise it wouldn’t end any good.
That day was also the day that Lloyd got to see Kai’s hair without all the hair gel he usually styles it with.
“Kai, you need to sleep ,” Lloyd said, again.
“I can’t ,” the brunet repeated, also once again.
They kept having this same conversation over and over again, it still ended the same way.
“Can’t or won’t?” Lloyd asked as he took a seat on Kai’s bed.
“Like I said, I can’t sleep,” he repeated.
He wasn’t looking at Lloyd, he was staring in the general direction of the opposite wall but also not really seeing it.
“Why?” the blond asked, prodding the fire.
“Because Nya’s gone and she’s not coming back, Lloyd. She was the reason I even became a Ninja. First Master, she’s the reason I had to grow up !” Kai exploded.
“With her gone, I don’t know who I’m supposed to be anymore!” he yelled. The anguish clear on his face.
That...Lloyd didn’t know quite what to say to that. What has there to say?
“Without Nya, who am I?” Kai added, at not nearly the volume he had been at only moments earlier.
That Lloyd had some idea of what to say to.
“You’re Kai, the Master of Fire, you’ve saved so many people. First Master, you’re the reason I’m even here now,” Lloyd told him.
To his surprise, Kai laughed (albeit sadly) at that.
“Greenie, that sounded so corny,” Kai told him, simply, after he had recovered.
“It did,” he agreed with a laugh.
They settled into silence again and after a few minutes of neither of them saying anything, Lloyd realized that Kai had fallen asleep where he was sitting.
“You stubborn Fire Tomato,” the blond muttered before he carefully got up and left the room.
Mission accomplished.
