Work Text:
One job.
He had one fucking job and he failed. Twice. How fucking pathetic.
Now he has to come up with another plan that most likely will end in fucking failure once again.
It really shouldn’t be difficult to kill someone, should it? It’s only the bloody headmaster of Hogwarts for fucks sake. How hard can it be?
Fuck.
He’s so screwed.
There isn’t much time left. The term is almost over and Dumbledore is still alive and strutting down the corridors because Draco keeps failing.
Oh, Voldemort is not going to let him get away with this if he doesn’t succeed. No fucking way.
He can visualize it already. Having death eaters peel his eyes open so he has to watch Voldemort viciously behead his mother in front of him, use chains to hang his fathers dead body up on the outside of Azkaban’s stone walls. Hell, then he would get crucio’d however many times that it would take for him to lose all of his sanity.
Draco gulped at the thought.
His anxiety was beyond him at this point.
It wasn’t helping that the princess of Gryffindor didn’t attend breakfast today either.
Somehow, hating Hermione Granger had made it easier to not put all of his hate into Voldemort. The less hate he had for Voldemort, the easier it was to move forward with his task and actually try to complete it.
It was easy to despise Granger thanks to her dumb fucking curls and shit colored eyes and one-too-many freckles that piled on her nose.
He made it a plan to see her as much as possible during the day. Even if it were just a glance.
He watched her at breakfast and noticed how she only ate two poached eggs with tea and one spoon of honey.
Melin is she starving herself? No wonder she’s so fucking slim.
He learned that she wore a blue jumper every Friday. Every other day she wore a stupid fucking grey one that washed out her pale skin.
Is she so broke that she can’t afford different colored jumpers?
He noticed the way her pointer finger strokes the back of the book when she reads.
How many habits do you have, Granger?
He watched her walk through the corridors with Potter and Weasley — both of them too stupid to notice how fucking sad she looks.
She must be mental if she’s actually upset over Weasel sniffing that Lavender Brown girl.
He also took note that she attends every dorm party except for Slytherins and it was fucking irritating.
Where’s that Gryffindor courage, Granger? Are you scared to party with the superior house?
“Malfoy, you coming?” Theo’s question caused all of his old slytherin friends to turn and look down at him.
Draco blinked and came back to reality. He hadn’t even realized that Mcgonagall dismissed everyone from breakfast.
And Merlin, when did he start sweating?
He cleared his throat and his fingers pulled at the neck of his black jumper. Fuck, it felt like the fleece was suffocating him. “Go ahead. I’ll meet up in potions.”
Theo turned to Blaise and raised a sharp eyebrow — unsure. Blaise shrugged, clearly not concerned, and began to walk out of the great hall with Pansy and Daphne.
Theo’s eyebrows threaded together and he clenched his jaw tightly as he looked back down to Malfoy.
Draco could see the concern written all over his facial expressions, so he quickly snapped his gaze back to the table in front of him.
He could feel Theo’s eyes still on him as the room cleared out, but Draco didn’t dare to look back at him. His eyes stayed pinned on the table, staring so hard that he could set fire to it.
He tensed when he felt a firm hand on his shoulder. “Mate, come on... You’ve been slacking in all of your classes. This is very... un-malfoy of you.”
A slight panic ignited inside of him from Theo’s words that clearly proved he was worried about him.
He didn’t need anyone to be fucking worried about him.
Draco resorted to the only way he knew how to get somebody to leave him alone, and that was through anger.
He slowly turned his head to look at the large hand resting on his shoulder. An expression of rage painted its way onto Draco’s face before he looked up to meet Theo’s eyes.
“I’m fine. Perfect even. It seems you’ve forgotten that my father is in Azkaban. I was intending to take these rare few minutes that I was supposed to have alone to send him an owl.” Draco spat harshly. “Now, get your Pansy Parkinson breast-touching hand off of my ninety galleon suit before I break it.”
Theo stared down at him in pure shock. Surely his friend was aware that he was just attempting to be kind... for once in his life.
The two exchanged gazes for a few moments before Draco looked back down to Theo’s hand still resting on his shoulder.
He looked back up. “Get. Off.” He threatened in a growl.
It took Theo another minute to process the strange behavior of his friend, but then he finally obeyed his friends wishes.
A scoff left his mouth and he shook his head in disbelief. He slowly lifted his hand and let it fall back to his side.
“Nott!” A loud whisper echo’d from the main entry doorway where they saw Adrian peaking his head in. “Let’s go. I want you to see the look on Greengrasses face when she smells me in her Amortentia!”
Draco almost laughed.
Bazaar, isn’t it? While I’m worried about coming up with tactics on how to kill my professor, Adrian is gloating about Astoria fantasizing about him.
The corner of Draco’s mouth curved upwards at the thought, but it immediately wiped away.
Theo looked back down to Draco and gave him a look that he’s never seen before. He almost looked... disappointed.
It caught Draco completely off guard.
He has never had one of his friends be disappointed in him. Sure, his father and many professors have been displeased with him before, but never a friend.
His friends always looked up to him. They saw him as a leader, an alpha. Not someone to be fucking disappointed in.
Fuck, it wasn’t his fault that he got chosen to kill one of the most powerful wizards of all time.
He didn’t want to push away his companions, but he had to. He was in a completely different stage of life than all of them now. They wouldn’t understand. Not yet, anyway. Sure, a few years from now, Parkinson and Nott will be right next to him with the same mark on their arms. But until then, he couldn’t let them in.
He wouldn’t know how to take it if someone was actually willing to... be there... for... him.
There it was again. That spark of panic electrifying his entire body.
He hadn’t even noticed that Theo walked away.
His chest began to breathe short, fast breaths. Way too fast.
Fuck. Fucking fuck.
There was absolutely no way he was going to be able to pull this off.
I’m fucking sixteen! Sixteen!
What kind of sick and twisted bastard makes a sixteen-year-old join a fucking cult and task him to kill one of the most powerful wizards of all time?
Oh, he’d done it now.
His brain felt like a filing cabinet chaotically unleashing every piece of paper into the air.
Every time he breathed in it felt like he was inhaling fire. Hot, cruel fire.
His finger nails dug into the material of his trousers. His cheeks flushed and his forehead became drenched of sweat.
He felt like he could cry until his eyes dried out and scream until his voice was nothing but a rasp all at the same time.
He needed to get out of here. He needed to be anywhere except here. He couldn’t fucking breathe in here.
Draco reached for his books, then grabbed his leather satchel — not even bothering to put the strap over his shoulder, and quickly made his way towards the corridors.
His breathing was so hoarse that he had to cough to try and clear his throat a few times.
As if this couldn’t get any worse, when he rounded the corner, he slammed into another body.
The person squeaked as she fell to the floor and dropped the book she had in her hand.
His eyebrows knotted together as he looked down at the girl with crazed curls and a distressed look on her face.
“G-Granger?” His brain was so scattered that he didn’t acknowledge the hand he was holding out to her.
Her eyes were wide and she breathed quick, small breaths. She looked at his hand that offered help, then back up to his face — unsure.
He was shocked to see her reach out for his hand, but the second her warm hand touched his cold one, he snapped his arm away from her.
She fell back onto her butt with a thud and an “Ouff” left her mouth.
“What the fuck was that?” Draco panicked, looking at both sides of his hand as if he had be electrocuted.
Hermione huffed as she gathered her book and stood up without his help. “You tricked me and I fell for it, as always.” She murmured while straightening out her skirt.
His eyes shot up at her and he narrowed his eyebrows. I did no such thing. She fucking did something to my hand!
Before Draco had the opportunity to express his thoughts, he began to feel an irritating itch on his arm. He blew it off at first, but then it quickly turned into a burning sensation.
His hand grasped his left forearm over the sleeve of his suit.
The Dark Lord was calling for all of the adult death eaters, most likely to get information on why Draco hadn’t completed his task yet. He truly was almost out of time.
Panic.
“Oh, for fucks sakes this cannot be happening. Of course I would run into you as if this world doesn’t already hate me enough.” He began to rant as he dug through his satchel for something cold. Anything to take the burn away.
Hermione sighed as she checked the pages of her book for any rips or wrinkles. “Unpleasant as always, Malfoy.”
He immediately stopped digging in his bag and looked up to her. The look on her face... Merlin, the look on her fucking face. “No, I didn’t— That’s not what I— Fuck!”
She crossed her arms and held the book to her chest. “I’m quite busy, Malfoy. I have an exam to study for, so I really am not in the mood to be tormented by you today.” She exhaled deeply and finally looked into his eyes.
His jaw slightly dropped and something happened to his stomach as his silvers met her ambers.
Then his mark began to burn again.
He sucked in a tight breath of air and grabbed his forearm. “Fuck. Fucking fuck. Fuck. FUCK.” He grunted and turned away from her.
His mind must’ve been so out of it because he hadn’t even realized what he was doing when he slightly lifted his sleeve so that he could grip his skin.
He applied as much pressure as possible, hoping it would cure some of the pain.
“What is that?” Granger’s delicate voice caught his attention. He looked over his shoulder and saw her eyes drawn down, trying to see his arm.
Quickly, he shoved his sleeve down and cleared his throat as he turned back around. “Huh?” He acted clueless.
“On your arm.” Again. Her voice was so damn delicate.
It must have been the healer in her that reached out and softly grabbed her bullies arm out of concern.
He couldn’t stop looking back and forth between her eyes. He was searching her because he was beyond confused on how he’d never heard her talk like this. Especially to him.
Draco was so distracted by the gentleness in her touch that he didn’t even realize what she was grabbing for.
Granger’s... gentle?
When has she ever been fucking gentle? She’s always been a feisty bitch?
He broke away from his thoughts the second he felt her hand squeeze his forearm tighter in shock.
“Oh my God! Is that the—”
His reflexes must have come back all at once. Before she could finish her sentence he pushed her up against the stone wall. He grabbed her arm to pull her closer to him and his other hand covered her mouth.
Inches away. There faces were inches away.
His chest inhaled and exhaled rapidly and his wide eyes stared into hers.
“Don’t. Say. A. Word.” He warned in a tone so low that it was dangerous.
She was stiff under his grasp and for a while, he swore she wasn’t breathing.
“I’m going to remove my hand and you’re not going to say a fucking word, got it?” He questioned, but it was an obvious threat.
She blinked at him.
He slowly removed his hand from covering her mouth — nervous that she might start screaming for help.
But she didn’t.
She just stared at him with her lips slightly parted.
He swallowed the air stuck in his throat. What the fuck is going on inside her head?
“I knew it.” She whispered.
“Knew what?” His voice was threatening.
“That you looked different.”
He paled and released his grip on her other arm, stepping back from her.
She stepped forward off the wall. “You’re one of them.” Her voice was too confident for his liking.
“What did I say about keeping your voice down? Are you trying to get me sent to Azkaban?” He grit his teeth together in anger.
She swallowed. “No.”
Draco glared at her. How fucking dumb do you think I am, Granger?
Her confidence was building fast at his silence. “But I could.” She shrugged innocently.
He didn’t need this. He didn’t need to play games with Hermione fucking Granger.
He stepped back towards her and her back was against the wall again. “Then do it, Granger. You’d love that, wouldn’t you? You said it yourself, all I do is torment you. So, turn me in.”
She was silent. Simply just staring back and forth into each of his eyes as if she were waiting for him to calm down.
He grunted out of frustration and backed away from her, rubbing his hands over his face.
“I don’t want to.” Her voice was suddenly delicate again.
“Oh?” Draco sarcastically mocked her as he turned back around to meet her gaze.
She blinked at him.
He scoffed, not buying it. “Get the fuck out of here, Granger.” He waved her off, walking towards the Ravenclaw table and setting his satchel down.
“No,” She refused and followed behind him. “I can help you.”
Draco snapped his head at her. “Help me? You wanna fucking help me?” He laughed harshly.
She knotted her eyebrows together like she wasn’t taking this as a joke. “You’re sixteen, Malfoy. You are the youngest death eat— one of them. You’re the youngest one of them to ever be.”
He shifted his jaw and stood up straight.
“You-know-who is punishing your father for his failure at obtaining the prophecy last year at the Ministry of Magic, isn’t he?”
Ten points to Gryffindor.
She took his silence as a sign of ‘yes’ and stepped towards him again. “Let me help you.”
Draco threw his head back and laughed mockingly. “I don’t need help. Especially not from the Gryffindor’s fucking princess. And I swear to Merlin, I will kill you myself if you tell a single person about this.”
She crossed her arms and lifted her eyebrows. “I won’t tell anyone if you let me help you.”
What the fuck is she doing? Why isn’t she giving up on this? Does she think I’m some sort of project for her to work on?
“How the fuck do you think you’d be able to help me? What are you going to do Granger, huh? Walk up to the Dark Lord’s front door and tell him to let me go?” He spat.
She broke eye contact with him and sighed.
He looked her fully up and down with only his eyes. “Exactly.”
“I know what he is capable of. I know what death eaters are capable of. I am not a fool, Malfoy.” Her voice was calm and her eyes were... soft.
“Then how the fuck do you possibly expect to help me?” For the first time, he looked at her with desperation.
Did he want her to help? Is this what it felt like to argue with someone who actually wants to see you get better?
“I told you that I knew something was wrong with you. I have seen it all year.” She started.
Draco lifted an eyebrow, concerned on what direction she was going in.
“You don’t strut around with your Slytherin posse anymore. You sit alone at every meal. I mean, hell Malfoy! You’re not even second in our class anymore.” She raised her voice, clearly annoyed.
Did he just get yelled at by Hermione Granger?
He looked at her confused. Taken back.
“You have grey eyes. They are incredibly noticeable and easy to read from any distance. Your eyes speak a million words, Malfoy. You’re terrified.” She pointed a hand at him.
He blinked and looked up to her. “You... look at my eyes?”
Hermione’s cheeks flushed pink at the confession. “No... Well I— um... That’s not what—”
What the fuck is going on? Granger looks at me?
She cleared her throat and regained her confidence. “I just meant that I was curious as to why you gave up on harassing my friends and I.”
Oh.
“I’m not your fucking science project, Granger. I’m not going to tell you again, get the fuck out of here.” Draco rolled his eyes and turned his back to her to continue looking through his satchel.
“This is a public hall. I am allowed to be in here.” She stuck her nose high in the air like she always fucking does.
He turned back to her and crossed his arms while leaning back on the table. “I can report you to the prefects for skipping class.”
Her eyes widened and she gasped. “Well, I— I will report you too then.” She put her hands onto her hips.
Draco chuckled. “Go right ahead, Granger. I don’t have much to lose.”
Only you.
What?
She sighed and put her hands back down to her sides.
He clenched his jaw and looked at her for a moment. “What’s with your huge hero complex and always wanting to save people who don’t deserve to be saved?”
She looked hurt, but not for herself. For him.
She swallowed and slowly walked toward him again. “Draco.”
His heart stopped at the way his name sounded in the tone of her voice. On the outside he stayed composed, but on the inside, his heart was slamming into his rib cage.
She stopped a couple feet in front of him. “You’re alone. It’s quite obvious considering your sudden toll on classes and the Malfoy heir himself sitting alone.”
He continued to look at her, but said nothing.
Yes, Granger. I am alone. You are too. I can see the desperation in your eyes for a simple conversation.
Why is it that you’re choosing me of all people to converse with?
She nervously picked at the fabric on her sleeve. “I can be the air vent you need. You can talk to me. If you’d like to keep it a secret, I wouldn’t mind. We don’t know each other beyond being acquainted, so it wouldn’t matter what I thought of you or the things you’d tell me. Just because you were a twat growing up, does not mean you deserve this future. No one does. Especially not at sixteen. I can help you through whatever you need.”
Draco swore he stopped breathing.
“Please let me put my hero complex to use. I want to help you.” The look in her eyes was pure desperation.
Draco couldn’t move. He was still in shock.
Hermione reached her hand out and gently grazed his fingers, then held onto his hand.
He inhaled sharply and looked down to their hands when the same electric shock that struck him early, struck him again.
Panic. Pure fucking panic.
It was flooding into him faster than water breaking through a dam.
“No.” He swiped his hand away from hers aggressively and backed away from her. “Get the fuck away from me.”
She groaned out of frustration. “Why? Why can’t you just let me help you, Draco?”
He shook his head at her. “Stop. Stop saying my fucking name.”
“Why? Just tell me why?” She continued to push as she followed him pacing around the table.
“Granger, leave me the fuck alone.” He was falling over the edge.
“No. Tell me!” She demanded.
“NO! GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!” He screamed hoping it would scare her away or at least get her out of his space.
“NOT UNTIL YOU TELL ME WHY!” She screamed right back.
He stopped pacing and turned to look at her. “BECAUSE I’M FUCKING IN LOVE WITH YOU, HERMIONE!”
She gasped silently and her eyes widened as she looked at him.
The room filled with silence.
He panted deeply as humiliation crawled up his neck. Fuck.
Did he actually just admit that? Was it even true? Fuck. It was definitely fucking true.
“You what?” Her voice was hardly a whisper.
He laughed completely humiliated, still attempting to catch his breath. “I’m not fucking saying it again.”
She blinked a few times with her jaw dropped. He knew he had thrown her completely off guard because she looked beyond puzzled.
He looked her up and down trying to read her, but she wouldn’t move. He had no idea what she was thinking.
Panic.
“Say something for fucks sakes. Don’t just stand there.” He panted, watching her closely.
She opened her mouth to speak, but almost instantly her jaw snapped shut.
Great. Fucking great.
He wiped his sweat drenched forehead with the sleeve of his jumper.
“How?” She finally spoke, but it was nearly inaudible.
“How?” He turned towards her and scoffed. “I tell you I’m in love with you and all you can say is fucking how? Do you really think that lowly of yourself? Do you think you’re so unloveable that the thought of someone loving you doesn’t seem possible? If so, then take notes so you can remember what I’m about to say.”
Her nostrils flared like she was holding back tears as he walked up to her. His icy eyes stared directly into her fiery ones.
“I’m fucking infatuated by you. I feel love sick every time I look at you. I’ve been pining over you for nearly a year because how would the golden girl ever fall for a death eater? Yeah, everything around me catches on fire and burns down in front of my own fucking eyes. But I would never let a flame come near you.”
Hermione’s jaw was nearly on the floor. She was completely speechless.
His hand gently grazed her cheek. “That is why I won’t let you help me. Because the only way of keeping you away from the flames, is to keep you away from me.”
She was frozen. The only thing that moved were her eyes searching his entire face like she was waiting for him to tell her it was a joke.
He dropped his hand from her cheek and sighed. “I hope that was enough to scare you off.” He told her, walking back towards the Ravenclaw table to grab his satchel.
“Fourth year.” She finally spoke.
Draco stopped dead in his tracks and turned around. A tear had fallen down her cheek while he was walking away. “What?” He questioned.
Her glossy eyes looked up to him from across the room. “Fourth year was when I first felt it.”
He clenched his jaw and slowly took a few steps towards her curiously.
“At the Yule Ball. You were dancing with Pansy and you looked so... normal. Sure, you were wearing expensive dress robes, but everything else about you was normal. It was the first time I had ever seen you genuinely smile. It was like you let go of your ego for a night and allowed yourself to not be so uptight.” She smiled softly at the memory.
He blinked at her.
“Seeing you so normal... that’s when I felt it. A knot tied in my stomach just looking at you. I couldn’t stop watching you all night after those feelings came over me. And quite frankly, I don’t think I have ever stopped feeling that way about you since that night.”
Draco’s heart was in his throat. He was speechless.
“Now it’s my turn to beg you to say something.” She laughed painfully and sniffed her nose.
He kept a sharp look on his face and stayed silent while slowly beginning to walk towards her again.
“Just please let me help you. Now that I know how you feel, I’m going to lose my mind if you don’t let me help you. Please, let me do this one thi—”
His lips were on hers.
And holy fuck he would have never imagined that they’d taste so good.
His fingers tugged at her hips and closed any remaining space between them.
One of her warm hands cradled his jaw and the other slithered into his hair. He felt her pulling him as close as she could.
A cage of butterflies opened in his stomach at the realization that she wanted his lips as bad as he wanted hers.
Draco knitted his eyebrows together and deepened the kiss. He wanted all of her — every taste he could get before the moment would end.
Melin had he been lying to himself.
Truth was, Draco Malfoy didn't hate Hermione Granger at all. She hadn’t been an excuse to hate Voldemort less.
She was a distraction. A paradise to fade off to. A stolen moment to fall away from the stress surrounding Voldemort.
She eased him. Even if it were just for a moment. Looking at her took away everything that he would cry himself to sleep thinking about.
He didn’t think her curls were stupid, they were soft and smelt like his Amortentia.
He didn’t think her eyes were shit brown either. No. They reminded him of the spoons of honey he drank with his tea.
And her freckles. Don’t even get him started on her fucking freckles.
Hermione’s lips detached from his and began to press deep kisses along his jaw and neck. Her tongue dragging on his skin felt like a drug.
The electricity from before was radiating through him now.
It felt too good. So good that he had completely forgotten about the fire-like burning on his arm.
“Granger—” He spoke so lightly that is was barely audible.
She ignored him. Her hands both grabbed the back of his neck as she stood onto her tippy toes and continued to leave deep kisses along his neck.
Fuck, she felt so good. If he could stay in this moment for the rest of his damned life, he would.
“Granger.” A little more assertive this time.
It was like she knew he was trying to interrupt the moment because she kept pulling him closer every time he spoke her name.
“Okay, seriously. Granger. Stop.” He grabbed hold of her wrists and removed her hands from himself.
She opened her eyes and blinked a few times, taken off guard. Her small breaths lightly blew a few strands of her hair.
When his eyes looked into hers, he softened his grip on her wrists immediately feeling guilty.
“I’m sorry.” He shook his head and looked down, letting go of her wrists.
“Draco?” She questioned and gently lifted his chin to force him to look at her again.
He clenched his jaw and looked back up to her.
Why did she have to look at him that way? Like she sees him? Like she knows every part of him.
She doesn’t.
And she can’t.
“I meant what I said earlier. I’m not going to let you get burned by the flames.” His eyes softly looked between both of hers.
She closed her eyes and started to shake her head. “Dra—”
“I’m serious, Granger.” He stepped back from her. “This goes way deeper than you know. I’m not going to drag you down with me. I’m not—“ He paused. “I won’t be selfish with you.”
She stayed quite; her mouth agape.
Don’t fucking looking at me like that, Granger. Please.
He was already missing her physically. It didn’t help that his lips were still buzzing and the spots she kissed on his neck were still throbbing.
“I was already selfish enough for kissing you.” He gently tucked a curl behind her ear. “I’m sorry, but I have to fucking do this. I’m sorry. Please know that. Please.”
Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion and she was about to speak, but then her eyes trailed down to his hand reaching for his wand tucked into his waist band.
“You’re going to obliviate me?” Her eyebrows furrowed like she was offended.
“I’ve been planning to since the second I ran into you. I was already having a break down and running into you made it worse. I would have admit my feelings for you no matter how the conversation went.” He looked away from her.
She shook her head and backed away from him, slowly making her way to the corridors. “You can’t do that. You can’t take this away from me.”
He exhaled a disappointed breath.
“No. That’s not fair. If you get to remember this than so do I! You don’t get to walk around these halls knowing how I feel all while I’ll have no idea that you know!” Her words began to speed up defensively.
“You’d want me dead if you knew what I have to do for the Dark Lord.” He fiddled with his wand in his hand.
She reached a hand out for him and was about to protest, but then she flinched when he dodged it.
“Hermione, I’m not going to be the fucking reason you get hurt. We will never fucking work. You think Potter and Weasley are going to let whatever the fuck just happened between us continue? We are complete fucking opposites. Fire and Water. Don’t make this harder for me than it already is because I want you. Melin, I fucking want you. I’ve wanted you for so long, but this was never going to work. I shouldn’t have fucking kissed you.” Draco frustratedly ran a hand through his hair.
“You think you waited long, Malfoy? It’s been two and a half years that I haven’t been able to get your blond hair out of my bloody head! I’m not asking to be apart of the fire. I just want you! I want to know who you are because I haven’t been able to understand how I could possibly feel so strongly about you after one night back in forth year!” Her eyes were practically out of her head she was so passionate about her words.
“Maybe it’s because after that night I began to notice all of the little things you do. Like how you make sure you’re the first one at the Slytherin table in the mornings because you like getting the first cup of fresh tea. Or like only smiling when you know none of your friends are looking because your ego is so big that God forbid you smile once in a while! But I want to know why you do those things. I want to know you.” Her hand reached for his again.
This time he let her grab it.
“I don’t need to be involved with You-know-who, but let me at least let me be the person you talk to.” Her big brown eyes were begging him.
He could feel himself giving in. How could he not? His heart is practically wrapped around her finger.
Using her other hand, she softly reached for his wand and slowly removed it from his hand. He tightened his grip for a moment.
“Please.” Her voice was a pleading whisper.
That was all it took for him to hand over his wand to Hermione Granger.
She placed his wand onto the Ravenclaw table without breaking eye contact.
“Granger, if I let you in, I won’t ever let go. I’ve already attached myself to you and we haven’t even had a civil conversation until now. I’m the most possessive prat you will ever meet thanks to the male Malfoy gene.” He admit shamefully.
A soft smile pulled at the edge of her lips and Draco was trying to figure out which part of his words she was smiling at.
Her hand grabbed his again. “I just want to help be your air vent, remember? You use me to get things off your chest. That’s all this is unless... we decide to make it more.”
“That doesn’t seem very fair. That I’d get to use you, but you don’t get to use me.” He lifted a sharp eyebrow.
“Is that something you want me to do? You want me to use you?” She questioned.
“You can use me whenever you need to, Granger. I’m fucking yours if you’ll let me be.” He gazed at her.
She beamed at his words and her cheeks flushed pink.
“Then I suppose we are each other’s to use?”
“I suppose so.” He smirked, kissing the back of her hand.
Maybe this was a mistake. Maybe giving into Hermione Granger was going to be the biggest regret of his pathetic life. Maybe his confession would have been better off unsaid.
But neither of them would be able to deny how it felt so fucking right.
