forever, for eternity
Hinata Hyuuga could hear the cries and cheers of victory at a distance. After being knocked far away by the enemy, she may have hit something that caused her to fall down on the ground. She tried to crawl her way over but she would have to guess that the enemy was able to be subdued and killed by the others. It was finally over.
Despite this light feeling in her chest and the elation she was feeling, it did not help mask the looming feeling that she had. The adrenaline that she was riding off of during her fight had worn off. The amount of pain she felt before was also leaving her body and she felt numb all over.
"Sasuke-san," She called out for him. Her eyes were closed but she could feel that he was close. She then felt her being lifted off the ground and strong arms wrapped around her and held her up. "Sasuke-san?"
"I'm here, Hinata." His soothing tenor rang her eyes and she opened her eyes to only see from one eye.
"Sasuke-san, my eye...I can't see from one side," She stated. The blurriness of her eyes cleared from her one good eye and she could see his face. If she was going to go, she wanted to see him before she does. "You're bleeding." She pointed out and reached out to touch the eye that was leaking a stream of blood, wetting her hand with red.
Sasuke didn't avert his gaze from her face as he held her with the little strength that he still had. "It's alright. You're hurt." He noted her injuries that littered her body. It did not hide her beauty, however.
Hinata could feel her eyes fill with water threatening to fall. "I can't feel my legs. Sasuke-san, I think I'm dying. I've lost all my strength."
Sasuke felt a tinge of pain in his chest at this revelation. He was afraid that this might have been the case. "It's okay. I'm dying as well."
Tears fell. Hinata's hand rested on his cheek and Sasuke held it there with his. "No, no. You can't die, Sasuke-san. Don't die."
"I'm alright, Hinata. It's too late to change it."
"We can call someone. Someone to save you."
"I don't want it." Just like Hinata, he was beginning to accept his fate. There were various stab wounds on his body that he was sure half of them were fatal. As soon as the enemy was confirmed dead, he set off on his way to look for her. His mind was filled with her and wanting her to be safe. If he couldn't live on, at least she could continue.
Sasuke didn't indulge in the pleasures of regular people. He wasn't like everyone else. Ever since he was young, he was haunted by his dead family and then the need for revenge. Coming back to the village after years of running away, he thought that maybe he could lead a normal life and maybe with this woman in his arms.
Fate would have them both dying after a battle and unable to have the normal life they both knew they desperately wanted with each other. Despite never fully recognizing their relationship, there were implications that it was much more than comrades or friends.
Lingering glances, secret meetings, and quiet moments that dances on the line between friend and lover.
Hinata looked at him like she was searching for something. "If you can't be saved...let's die together..."
"I would like that." He pressed his forehead against hers and she could feel his ragged breath.
"I'm sorry for how things went. I wish...I wish I could've told you...sooner. How I feel."
He shushed her. "Don't waste your energy."
"Sasuke-san, I want to tell you that I love you. I do. So much. I wish things were different." She cried, tears now running down her cheeks that had lost its rosiness.
"Me too. I wish things were different as well."
"In the next life, when things are happier, will you...take me as your bride? I want to make you happy. I want to love you with all my heart. Please marry me in the next life." Hinata pleaded.
Sasuke shook his head. "I don't know if an evil man like me can go into the next life."
"You're a good man, Sasuke-san!"
He chuckled at this, breathing was starting to get hard to do."You like to think so. I may be going to hell instead."
"And if it is Hell you must go to, take me with you."
"Hinata–"
"I do not wish to part with you anymore. I want to be with you. Whenever it may be. Forever, for eternity."
Sasuke kissed her forehead and a tear rolled down from his eye. "I will make you happy. I promise. Forever, for eternity."
Sasuke Uchiha and Hinata Hyuuga were found wrapped in each other arms. Both had long passed by the time Naruto and Sakura arrived.
