Chapter Text
George had no idea what was wrong with him. Any other person would be normal about this, but to him, saying "I love you never" was easy. If anything, it was impossible. Add your best friend into the mix and it gets ten times harder (hehe. harder. sorry.) His dynamic with Dream always felt more than his others. He wasn't saying he didn't care about his other friends, George loved them all dearly. But Dream was different. He was easy-going but a shameless flirt. Loved by millions all over the Internet just for, not only his incredible Minecraft skills but also his loveable personality. The Internet fell in love with the boy who states all his emotions freely but masks his true face.
George's Minecraft character sprinted around and he cackled. Dreamrider proudly sat in his inventory, and he had no intent to return it. Dream loved it too much and George was having too much teasing him. Then Sapnap joined in on the chase. Unfair.
Sapnap shouted, "No! George! Come back! I just want to give you a hug!"
Dream whispered into his mic, "Geeeooorge... ohh Georgeee! Where are youuuu?"
George's eyes were plastered with fear but a small smile played on his lips. His Minecraft character sprinted around the world, with Sapnap and Dream followed close by. He peeked at the donations quickly and read aloud, "Hi Gogy! Can you tell Dream you love him?"
He chuckled, "Sorry to disappoint, but uh... no thanks?"
"Why do you always say no?" Sapnap asked.
George saw Sapnap's character nearby and began sprinting, "I dunno." He actually didn't know why he refused to say this to Dream. Maybe it was because it felt so real to say that. Three words. He only said them to his family. Maybe he never said it, because deep down, Dream made George so happy and fluttery. He couldn't pinpoint the exact feeling, but it filled him with warmth and soft butterflies in his stomach. Only the faceless boy who wore his heart on his sleeve.
"You never tell me you love me!" Dream's voice rang out, interrupting George's thoughts. Although Dream would never tell, his heart fluttered when he saw George. He felt warm and happy with him.
Actually, once he did tell. He made the mistake of telling this to Sapnap. He had teased him lightly, saying, "Ooh, dreamnotfound confirmed?"
Dream laughed, "Game over," and jumped down from god-knows-where and killed George.
"NOO!" George shouted. The screen flashed with the message, "You Died."
Dream wheezed and slammed his head into the desk, shaking with a fit of laughter. George rolled his eyes, "Fine, you can have your trident back, idiot."
He heard the smile in Dream's voice as he whooped and yelled, "Dreamrider is back in daddy's hands!"
George made a face, something resembling a stretched frown with wide eyes. The chat went wild.
Sapnap laughed and said to George, "You wish that was you, huh?"
"Idiot," he mumbled.
Dream choked out, "Say idiot one more time."
"Why?"
"Just say it."
"Idiot?"
"Oh my god, you're such a Brit." Dream wheezed. The chat blew up again, teasing his teakettle wheeze and defending George.
George made a face, somewhere between a scowl and an abashed smile. Another donation came in, "gogyy ill donate 10 subs if u tell dream u love him."
George read out the donation and groaned, "I'm not sure if I can do that."
Sapnap laughed, "Gogy, it's ten subs on the line!"
"You don't even have to mean it!" Dream said.
George sighed, "Um, how about if I hit 22,000 subs I'll tell Dream I love him."
Dream grinned, "Let's gooo!"
"Your subs don't count, Dream."
George respawned and immediately went to grab his stuff, grumbling about the inconvenience.
His subscriber count was slowly climbing, and he had to rush to read each message.
Dream laughed, "Gooogyyy, look at the sub count."
George peeked at it, and his eyes widened, "Oh shi- crap."
"George, honor your promise!"
George looked around and smiled softly, "Hah. Okay. Er, I. Oh, do I really have to do this?"
"Yes," Sapnap and Dream said.
"I love you Dream." George was frowning slightly and ruffled his hair lightly, looking uncomfortable.
"Love you too, Gogy."
George smiled tightly, "Actually, I'm gonna go..."
He smiled lightly and waved, "Bye, guys."
He ended the stream and left the Teamspeak. George pulled his knees to his chest and breathed in and out slowly. It felt monumental to say that to Dream. He rarely told his friends "I love you" outright, usually preferring to show it with his other words and actions.
His phone pinged, and he got up to grab it, sitting down with it. There were three messages, two from Sapnap and one from Dream.
Sapnap texted him, "u ok?" George's mouth quirked unhappily, he had tried to end the stream as naturally as possible but that obviously didn't work. He texted back, "yep."
The other text was from Dream, "u left kinda early, r u ok?" He sighed before replying, "mhm."
George threw his phone on his bed and left the room. Maybe he would cook something tonight. Maybe he'd film it. That meant he would have to go out to buy some things from the supermarket, since his fridge was looking, well, a little desolate.
He slipped into a black hoodie and grabbed his phone. The train was a few minutes away. He really needed to get his driver's license.
