Under the dim moonlight

Summary:

"I know you're somewhere out there, somewhere far away..."
"I want you back..."

Loosely based on Bruno Mars' song 'Talking to the moon'

Notes:

HAHA ANGST YES.

Ehem, anyways, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND for you to listen to the song while reading, most preferably the slowed + reverb version for extra pain- FEELS, for extra feels.

Also that Gojo scene on the first opening where he's standing on the tower gave me inspiration.

(English isn't my first language forgive me in advance for any mistakes.)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Gojo sat on top of tower, quietly observing the peaceful night of Tokyo.

To get a better look of the city, he removed his blindfolds, hair falling down smoothly as the blindfold slowly unattached to his fair and smooth skin. The cold air blew his silky white hair away from his face, as if the world is helping him unblocked the obstruction trying to stop him from truly gazing at the city. He looked down across the crowded area of people enjoying their night life without having to worry about anything other than themselves and the next place to visit to have fun and get drunk to their hearts content.

Everything was so clear in his eyes, every little detail, materials, small movements, even from afar, he can see it so clearly it tires his brain out from the overwhelming informing his brain is trying to process. Yet he can't bring himself from putting his blindfolds back, he wants to savor the sight of everyone having fun, living their lives to their fullest,

Something the strongest jujutsu sorcerer can't achieve.

Now that the only thing he had was gone, long gone.

Wouldn't it be better if he's sitting right next time him, accompanying him in the agony of never being able to live normally just like those people below him? That's all he asked for, a companionship of someone who could truly understand what it's like to live in this world full of curses lurking at every corner of Japan trying to terrorize the daily lives of everyone.

Being on top wasn't as great as other made it seem like, it's a lonely place, just him and no one else, everyone below him had their each and very own company, helping each other cope with all the cruelness this world bestowed upon them.

Yes, being on top means no one can disobey you, touch you, stop you—you're in control, all the superiority is sitting like a toy in the palms of your hands, being played by none other than you.

A sharp wind blew past his gorgeous features, it caught him off guard for a moment as it triggered something inside.

Memories of his youth came flooding like a heavy rain pouring from the dim clouds above, occupying his brain with nothing but memories.

Of him and this person who was his one true companion.

They spend most of their days together, enjoying each other's presence, knowing that as long as they have each other's back, nothing can stop them, they're the strongest after all.

The Strongest Duo.

He wondered, why didn't he talk to him earlier, about his beliefs getting twisted, does he not trust him enough? He would not think twice to lend a helping hand, isn't that what friends are for? Helping each other out?

After some time, the clouds moved away to give the moon its deserving time to show itself, Gojo looked up.

"Look at you, always sitting up there, all alone, never once was able to meet with the sun."

It was pathetic, he thinks, to still not being used to sitting all alone in his throne. It has already been years, years of life without him on his side, with him standing on the other side, on a throne of his own.

A throne that was never meant to last long.

Just why, why can't he just accept it, he's gone, gone for good, he saw him, with his very own eyes as his life fades away in this world he can never truly be happy, just why can't he be happy for him? Happy that he's finally free, that his sufferings have come to an end.

Is he selfish? For wanting to him to be back, to accompany him once again at the top and be the known strongest duo once more? Is it bad for wanting to have his happiness back, even though the other person doesn't want to be part of it anymore?

"How weak and pathetic, I can't be like this, I'm the strongest, it shouldn't be this way, I should stop acting like this."

No matter how hard he tries to convince himself, that the strongest sorcerer shouldn't be having any weak points, he just can't, it still won't change the fact that he's still a human after all, a human craving for companionship just like how a normal human being craves for one as time goes by.

His mind was going hazy, from all the thinking and the information pouring inside his brain as he gazed upon the city.

So hazy... that he didn't even noticed the tears slowly pouring out from his ocean blue eyes.

The tears he had built up ever since the incident happened, ever since he heard the news about him turning to the other side, a side he never should have traveled to-

And his death.

Like a jar being filled with sorrows, agony and pain to the point it started spilling out as it can no longer contain everything the world is trying to give him.

It's too much, his façade is slowly cracking, turning into pieces like a fragile glass, pieces falling one by one till everything scattered on the ground. Yet, he's there, desperately picking them up one by one till his hands bleeds from the sharp edges cutting painfully to his blood covered hands, his own blood, the blood of others, and his blood.

But he's failing, so miserably.

He feels so weak, so exposed, so vulnerable at the moment yet there's no one there watching him break down into million pieces, just no one but himself, yet why?

Why does he want to hide so much, to lock himself somewhere only he knows where, just so no one can see him in his weakest state?

No longer able to contain these feelings anymore, he finally admitted to crying, he finally poured all these excesses feeling he's been forcefully fed to after all these years.

He sat there with his large hands on his eyes bawling droplets of tears right into his palms, not wanting to see the world he's been gazing into just a moment ago, no longer caring if someone could actually see him from afar, what matters to him at this moment is to let all the stack of pain out, desperately trying to ease his heart getting slashed like a merciless killer slashing their victim away to death.

Screams, he is screaming, yet he's not, sounds won't come out of his glossy lips, just silent screams of agony and longing for the person who left him all alone for years, the whole reason why this is happening to him right now, yet he can't bring himself to hate him, he tried, and tried, oh so many times, thinking it's the best solution there is but he's wrong, oh so wrong, because he can't, and he realized that him, the strongest jujutsu sorcerer can't do one thing.

To truly hate Geto Suguru.

Notes:

How are you besties? This is actually my first time writing angst
I hope I didn't do too bad... But I'm always open for tips and criticisms!

I'm don't think anyone had done this before? I just thought it fits them perfectly while I was jamming to the song one day. If ever someone had already written the same thing, let me know immediately, I'm ready to take this down asap.

Thank you for reading!

And if this work of mine hurt you, don't worry, it hurt me too.
