Summary

THE READER INSERT FIC OF ALL TIME!!!!! THEY RADICALIZED BAKUGOU???? AND IZUKUS VIEWS OF HERO SOCIETY GOT CHALLENGED????
SHIGARAKI AND SPINNER PLAY STARDEW VALLEY????In all seriousness though, I absolutely love how this fic has been written, arguably one of my top favorite reader-inserts ever. Not only is the world expanded beyond the series through the reader and her experiences, but her existence directly impacts the story, as well as the characters. My gosh, the way the author interlocking and webs everything regarding the reader and her backstory is SO well-done!! Her story is so naturally interwoven into the canon and canon divergent events of the story that I'm still in awe of the author's skills in doing so! I've read mystery novels and other fics that have paled in comparison to this one, especially when it comes to keeping the main story engaging and moving forward while feeding the audience bits and pieces throughout for them to connect later on. I don't think I've read a fic so far that's gotten me so shocked at so many reveals and really thinking and grappling at the little details we get scattered throughout, even in small throwaway lines.
I'm glad to see Izuku be challenged directly and made aware of the systematic failings of the society he lives in. He's such a sweetheart and retains his caring and kind nature here, and I love the added "strongest tool in a hero's arsenal is a hug", if only to reflect more directly how the reader affects his hero career. And to reflect his nature as well, as someone who genuinely wants to help everyone, from rescues from villains to finding support and solutions to the problems people in the community face on a more personal level. Bakugou also goes through a metamorphosis of sorts, and although I'm a big fan of his arc in the original series, I also really really like how he's explored here as well. His challenging of the system in a more aggressive manner and exploring that through his strong sense of justice just hits different ngl.
The reader is suuuuuuuuuuch a well-written character MY GOSH. Her background is filled with so much depth and thought that I think this is probably the most complex reader I've come across (I'm thankful that she's a reader and not an OC lol, I'm not a big OC reader for certain reasons and I think some authors mistakenly think a complex reader is the same as an OC with a defined appearance when its not :/ ). I love that she lives in a limbo that connects the villain world and the hero world, giving her the chance to be someone with enough insight into both to bridge the characters on either side. And can I just say that I appreciate so deeply how "storied" she is, as another reader put it. For one, I'm so so thankful to come across such a well-written All Might x Reader that gives him an age appropriate love interest! Its probably not rare to find readers over the age of twenty, but it certainly is for readers over thirty and beyond, so it made me so happy to see the reader here was 55/56 years old. Not to mention, the added depth of her experience with drug addiction and mental illness struggles. I dont think I've come across a reader that had such a complex and well-developed but deeply emotional background. Although I dont have my own experiences parallel to her, I became so attached to the reader and kept rooting for her every chapter! Ohhhhhmy goshhhh and the fact that she's so tender and loving towards others and the reason for that stemming from a desire from her youth to have had that support and kindness offered to her BUT also the complicated guilt and burden she carries because of her lineage and the extra meaning being a hero carries for her??????? IN LOVE
And the OCs as well!! Holy shit, they're all so well-written too, and its crazy how naturally they slot into the world and expand it in SUCHHHHH a good way!!
Like, I actually look forward to so many of the interactions because of how fascinating and interesting they are, from the league of villains to the pro heroes to the UA students to the OCs. And the reader most of all!
Fave part is:
"Sho, go ahead and pick your song so we can keep playing."
"I already did."
The three of you sit and watch the world outside the windshield. U.A. approaches, a shining beacon on a hill. No music plays.
"... The intro on this song really needs to be trimmed down. Is this a hidden track or something?" asks Yamada.
"No." Aizawa holds up the phone to reveal his song of choice, labeled ' 10 Hours of Continuous Silence' by Public Domain."
