Work Text:

It was a normal morning in Brightmoon. The birds were singing, the sun was shining, and Glimmer was about to start a meeting with the Princess Alliance. There were a few princesses absent, though.

Scorpia was in the Fright Zone, helping to rebuild her family’s kingdom. She doesn’t show up to meetings as often as other princesses, but she tries her best to make it to them at least once a month.

Mermista called Bow’s tracker-pad and told him that she couldn’t make it today and hung up, not before Bow heard yelling and singing. “SEA HAWK PUT THE MATCHES DO-”.

The explained absences didn’t bother Glimmer, but what did was the empty chair next to Adora. “Where’s Catra?”, Glimmer asked matter-of-factly. Adora’s surprise at the question irritated Glimmer, who was NOT a morning person. “She was just with me, I don’t know where she went”.

Glimmer’s irritation was immediately replaced with concern. Ever since restoring the magic to Etheria, Adora and Catra were attached by the hip. Anywhere Adora went, Catra followed and vice versa. This was the first time Adora didn’t know her whereabouts. Glimmer needed to help Adora find her. Now.

“This meeting of the Princess Alliance is over, feel free to stay in Brightmoon while we reorganise a time”.

There were a few grumbles from the princesses, but most of them left and walked to their designated rooms in the Castle to work remotely.

The original Best Friend Squad was left in the meeting room. Glimmer immediately started questioning Adora, who’s mind was racing a mile a minute trying to think of where Catra could have gone. All of a sudden, she visibly stopped worrying. Adora knew where Catra was as soon as she heard a distant crash, coming from their shared bedroom.

“Adora if you have any idea where Catra is you have to tell us, we’ll find her and then we ca-”

“No.”

”What do you mean no?”

Before she could ask any more questions, Adora stood up and walked out of the room. She walked up to her and Catra’s room and pressed her head against the door. Another crash. Adora listened for a moment and opened the door.

The room was messed up. Papers that were sitting on Adora’s desk were all over the floor, and the once freshly made bed was ruined. And standing in the middle of it was Catra, frozen mid run with her eyes fixed on her girlfriend.

“What are ya doin’ in here?” Adora said, barely suppressing her chuckle.

“...nothing”

“What happened to the bed?”

Catra didn’t answer. She had never gotten what her and Adora called her “zoomies” in Brightmoon before.

Adora saw the embarrassment in Catra’s face, and so, as calmly as she could while suppressing her giggles, she opened the door wider and signaled for Catra to continue outside.

Catra bolted for the door with the biggest smile on her face and ran down the hall. Adora was about to step fully into the room when she felt Catra jump on and kiss her.

“Thanks, dummy”

”I love you”

Adora was expecting to hear it back and laughed when she didn’t, because Catra was already half way down the long Brightmoon corridor.

When Catra turned the corner she heard a thud, and the scream of a sparkly queen “CATRA WHAT THE FUCK!?”

Adora didn’t even try to suppress her laughter.
