Work Text:
It was 2 am on Christmas morning and Hoseok was awake. His newborn baby had awakened him with her cries needing her diaper changed. He had gotten up quickly so that Y/n could sleep before the baby was hungry again in the next few hours. Besides, he loved being close to his baby girl.
Chin-sun had stopped crying as soon as he had changed her, but she was looking up at Hoseok, examining him carefully. Hoseok was holding her gently against his bare chest standing in front of the window in the nursery, watching the snow fall beautifully outside. They had strung fairy lights around the room, so he flipped those on and sat down with Chin-sun in the rocking chair that sat in the corner of the room.
“Why are you so awake, my Darling? But since you are, we will be awake together. It’s your first Christmas today. In a year or two, this will probably be your favorite time of the year. The Christmas lights everywhere, the snow, and the presents will make you so excited for this day to come every year. This year, you are the only gift I want. Maybe for the rest of my life.”
Hoseok stopped speaking as he felt the emotion welling up in his throat. He thought when he and Y/n got married that he was incapable of loving anyone else that much. But he had never been more wrong. Every day he spent watching his daughter grow and explore the world around her filled him with so much love that sometimes he felt like he might explode. He felt a couple of the tears he’d been trying to smash down leak out and roll down his cheek just as he heard the soft patter of footsteps coming down the hall.
“Is everything okay, Hobi?” Y/n asked sleepily.
“Yeah,” he whispered back. “She just needed a new diaper. And then we were bonding as I was rocking her to sleep.”
Y/n stepped closer, and the light from the fairy lights twinkled off the tears on Hoseok’s cheek.
“Baby, are you crying?”
“Maybe a little? I was talking to Chin-sun and it just struck me how much I love her. And sometimes I don’t think my body can contain all that love so now it’s leaking out of my eyes.”
Y/n giggled a little bit at that before wiping the tears away and kissing him softly on the lips. After she pulled away, Y/n ran a finger down the cheek of their now sleeping baby.
“Do you want to bring her back to our bed with us?”
He just nodded before standing and walking back down the hall towards their bedroom. Hoseok laid down in the bed as slowly and easily as he could and positioned Chin-sun to lay on her tummy on his chest. He kept his right hand on her back to keep her safe and warm. Y/n climbed in beside him and curled up as closely as she could get to him.
Hoseok kissed the top of Chin-sun’s head then the top of Y/n’s head. “I’m a lucky man. I get to curl up with my two beautiful girls while it snows on Christmas morning. I love you both so much.”
“We love you, too, Baby,” Y/n yawned. “So, so much.”
