Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Rain pours outside a tower, pattering gently against its windows. The world outside is dark, clouds covering up the sky and shielding the sun. Streets are empty, shops are closed, and few pedestrians can be seen running back to their homes. A cloaked figure stands in a dimly lit room, outlined only by the flickering candles surrounding it. In its hand was a book, vastless knowledge and infinite power rich within its pages.

“It’s time.” The figure said, voice even as it turned towards its companion.

“Indeed it is.” The other replied, stepping out from the shadows and closer to the dark pentagram painted in the middle of the room.

Neither of their tones betrayed any details about the events that were about to occur, their thoughts and actions kept secret by the heavy blanket of mystery and suspense-

“Can we take off these dumb pieces of fabric now?” Tommy complained, picking at the edges of his own. “I think mine’s actually been eaten by moths or something.”

“Seriously Tommy?” Skeppy exclaimed, throwing off his hood and turning to look at the boy. “You just ruined the mood!”

“No, I actually agree with Tommy, these cloaks stink, literally! Where did you even get them?” Quackity asked, taking his off as he flicked on the lights.

Four figures stood facing each other, positioned so that they would be surrounding the crudely drawn summoning circle in the middle of the room. What was supposed to be a cool horror esque spell casting ritual had now been interrupted by the overwhelming force of child boredom.

“Really guys?” Skeppy sighed, throwing up his arms in defeat. “I thought they looked pretty cool!”

“Skeppy,” Sapnap said, placing a hand on Skeppy’s shoulder. “You are literally the only one who thinks that.”

“Says the one who only came because he wanted to ‘protect’ his dad’s stuff.” Tommy snickered. “We all know that you just want to see what kind of cool demon stuff he has.”

“Th-that’s not true!” Sapnap yelled, cheeks heating up as he crossed his arms protectively.

Quackity, who wasn’t really in the mood to see his boyfriend being destroyed by a mere child decided this was probably the right time to step in.

“Boys, boys.” He said. “Remember why we came here in the first place?”

The others nodded as they looked back at the book in Skeppy’s hand.

“That’s right.” Quality affirmed, smiling devilishly. “Gentlemen, we are gathered here today for one sole purpose.”

“An important one.” Skeppy added proudly.

The cloaks were gone and in the room stood four troublemakers staring at each other like a pack of wolves closing in on their next kill.

“Today, we troll Badboyhalo with the most epic idea we’ve had yet.” Tommy finished.

“By epic you mean stealing his spell book and doing random magic with it?” A sarcastic voice spoke through their communicators, the person having listened to them for a while.

“Shut up, Velvet.” Tommy shot back. “You still owe us for last time when we helped you distract everyone so you could have that date with Ant.”

“Yeah, yeah I know.” Velvet replied. “I help distract Bad while you guys do your thing.” The call cut and he was gone.

“Ready boys?” Quackity asked, eyes gleaming with excitement.

“Absolutely.” Skeppy said back while Sapnap and Tommy shook their heads rapidly in affirmation.

Together, the group quickly grabbed onto the book prying the cover open together and trying their best to break all the wards cast over it.

After what seemed like an eternity filled with blood, sweat, tears, and a lot of cursing, they finally managed to get it open.

“Man!” Tommy said, bringing a hand up to wipe the sweat off his forehead. “What kind of things could this book possibly contain to be that hard to open?!” He questioned.

“I don’t know.” Quackity replied panting. “But whatever it is, it better be good.”

Sapnap lifted a shaky hand to touch the first page, running his fingers along the words written inside. “A lot of these spells look really cool, but I doubt Bad would be happy if we casted one of the more evil spells.” He laughed uneasily as he read through the many torture and killing spells scattered everywhere.

“Maybe we should cast this one!” Skeppy said, unfazed by all the graphic images and words he couldn’t understand. “This one looks cool!”

The rest of the group turned, filled with anticipation as they glanced over to the spell Skeppy was pointing at.

“Portal Spell?” Quackity read out loud.

“It isn’t a giant slime monster?” Skeppy frowned in disappointment.

“What? No!” Sapnap replied, looking at the picture trying to figure out how Skeppy came to that conclusion. “That looks nothing like a slime monster!” He said.

“Yeah, it looks more like an uncolored splatter of paint.” Tommy added, squinting while in deep thought. “Or maybe blood, judging by all these other photos.”

“Guys!” Quackity cut in. “Back on topic, please?”

“Right.” Sapnap nodded, looking back to the text. “Are we casting this one?”

“Sure.” The others shrugged, none really wanting to read much more.

“Can I cast it?” Tommy asked, reaching to grab the book.

“No! I want to cast it!” Skeppy denied, pulling it away from him.

“You can’t even read that!” Sapnap yelled, yanking the book from Skeppy. “Besides, I’m the demon here, I should read it!”

Quackity took this as a chance to tackle Sapnap to the ground and take the book, opening it wide and quickly shouting the words out loud.

“Oh my goodness!” An angry voice came from the door which was now open. “What the muffin did you all do?!”

The four troublemakers turned to look at the furious muffin-loving demon standing in front of their only escape route, their eyes wide in a mixture of fear and surprise. Velvet stood off to the side looking apologetic, mouthing the words “I’m sorry.” before facing back towards Bad who was currently on the verge of freaking out.

“Dude, I swear, we were just fooling arou-” Skeppy tried explaining, cut off as a large, swirling portal opened up behind him.

“Um, excuse me, where am I?”
