Rachel Doesn’t know how to play pool and Quinn does.

Notes:

Hey y’all’s! I’m finally getting to writing again, and normally i don’t write in class, but this idea came to me and i absolutely needed to write it down. This takes place somewhere in their senior year, but before nationals. So i wrote this in about 2 hours, and this is unbeta’d so i take full responsibility for all mistakes in here.

I feel the need to put this here but i do not own glee, i just love the show.

Comments and kudos are always greatly appreciated!

Work Text:

Rachel felt left out.

She stands there, looking out into a sea of people. She can barely hear herself think with the booming bass heavy music coming from the speakers in the back of the room, so she tries to locate the rest of the glee club, and hopefully avoid the club music in the process. Rachel looks everywhere, and ends up finding them all playing a game of pool, bar a few members.

Sure, she was invited to a party at Pucks house, but it didn’t change the fact that most the glee club was playing pool and she didn’t know how to even hold the bloody stick.

She had  thought of joining Mercedes, Kurt and Tina in their gossip session over in the corner, but decided against it. They’d ask her about Finn, and she doesn’t want to deal with that right now.

Really, doesn’t want to deal with that.

Rachel had just discovered that he isn’t what she wants anymore, and that her thoughts star the one and only Quinn Fabray. It surprised her, though it’s not as unexpected as she first thought. It’s all those passing looks, those fleeting moments that happened throughout the years.

Walking up to an empty pool table, she tries to work it out by herself, but after a while, she just gives up. Rachel looks over to see Sam setting uo his shot, so she tried to imitate the same position he is in just a few meters away from her, but ends up unsuccessful.

She’s so absorbed in her exploration of what positions felt comfortable and just how to hold the damn thing, that she doesn’t feel the presence of someone until they’re up against her back, rearranging her hands.

“Here”

Wait, she recognises that voice. It’s Quinn.

“Wha-“ Rachel started, craning her head around to look at Quinn.

“You seemed to be struggling there” she smirked, an eyebrow slowly rising, “and i happen to know how to play pool”

After about what feels like 20 minutes of teaching Rachel the basics of pool, Quinn finally sets Rachel up, leaning over her to readjust her position. She lets out a hum of satisfaction when Rachel’s position is just right.

“Just remember what I said, you can do it” Quinn whispers right into her ear, and Rachel swears she almost died. Refocusing, she closes one eye and aims the cue at the cue ball.

Quinn moves away slightly, just as Rachel hit the cue ball straight on, making it charge toward a solid purple 4 ball. As the purple ball rolls into the pocket, Rachel straightens, turns to Quinn and starts positively beaming

“I did it!” Rachel exclaimed, dissolving into laughter.

“Yeah, you did”

Calming down, Rachel looks at Quinn, seeing the softest look adorned on the blondes face just a few centimeters away. Looking deep into hazel eyes, she thinks she can see desire, want, and love. Quinn is looking at her intensely, and Rachel can physically see her pupils dilate.

Maybe she’s just seeing what she hopes to see.

Then, all of a sudden Rachel feels pale hands on her waist and soft lips pressed against hers. For a second she freezes out of shock, then tan hands find their way into blonde hair. With eyes shut, soft lips move against each other, as Rachel experiences the best thing she’s ever felt.

Rachel starts to get get guided back until she hits the pool table. She feels herself being lifted onto the green table, unsettling a few pool balls in the process. Rachel starts to trace her tongue along the seem of Quinn’s lips, begging for entry. And,  shockingly for Rachel, Quinn grants entry with a moan. and Rachel thinks she’s in heaven. She doesn’t see just stars, but entire galaxies, constellations and nebulas, as she kisses Quinn with all she has, trying to convey her feelings for the blonde in a single tough.

Her legs wrap around Quinn’s waist, trying to get as close to her as possible and after a few seconds that feels like hours, they break apart. As if shaking out of her stupor, Quinn’s eyes widen as she stands back out of Rachel’s grasp, and she misses the soft, firm warmth of Quinn. The blonde looks around, almost scared, and it breaks Rachel’s heart.

“Rachel I-“

“Quinn, dont,” Rachel starts, looking her in the eyes, pleading, “please, please don’t apologise”.

They sit in silence, with Rachel still in the table, just looking at each other, all background noise fades away. Rachel thinks she can look into Quinn’s stunning eyes for all of eternity, with just the sheer feeling she gets from looking. Suddenly Quinn finds her shoes very interesting. Rachel’s about to ask Quinn what the kiss meant just as the blonde opens her mouth.

“I love you”

Those three words, that simple phrase practically whispered, changes everything. If Rachel wasn’t straining to hear Quinn, she probably would’ve missed the biggest moment of her life so far.

Never in her wildest dreams has this ever been a possibility.

“I love you too” Rachel confessed, seeing a look of awe and shock appear Quinn’s face. Rachel’s sure she’s matching, but as she realises the full meaning of those words, a grin stretches across her face.

“Wait, Rach you love me too?” She raises her head, looking so very vulnerable.

A small nod, a beat, and Quinn steps back into Rachel’s embrace, hugging Rachel tightly. After a minute or 2, they part slightly, looking at each other now, just basking in the company of the other.

“Be with me” Quinn blurts out

As if Rachel could say no. If Quinn had any doubts, the kiss she receives is all the answer that she needs. This is the start of a new adventure, one that’s predicted to have lots of twists and turns, but if the past is any indication of the future, they will always find their way back to each other.

They both know it’s not going to be easy. They’ll be answering questions and explaining everything for a long, long time, but both girls think it’s well worth it in the end. They have got each other now, and all it took was a game of pool to get the ball rolling.
