“My name is unimportant - you tyrant will die today by my blade.” Kagami stated, holding her new sword that Marinette had given to her for her birthday at the neck of one Damian Wayne.
Luka was doing his best to calm Kagami down. He did not want her to impale his soulmate with her sword. Unfortunately Damian didn’t seem to be sharing the same sentiment as Luka, because instead of backing down he stood his ground against Kagami, which was not helping the situation.
'Damian, you're not helping the situation by doing that!' He mentally screamed at his soulmate.
'Tt, relax, it will be fine.' Damian mentally responded back to him.
Yeah not helping.
Another person not helping the situation was Marinette who was currently laughing hysterically with her soulmate, Jon, who just seemed relieved it was Damian and not him being confronted. Lucky, Kagami wasn’t trying to run him through with her sword.
“Kagami, what did Damian ever do to you?” Luka asked, struggling to hold her back from attacking said boy.
“You didn’t witness him in his younger days, Luka. However I did.” Kagami stated, her narrowed eyes never leaving Damian. Luka raised an eyebrow at that.
'Care to explain?'
'Later.'
Damian got a slight ashamed look before sighing and responding to Kagami’s statement, “I will admit that the actions I made in the past were rude and wrong. I sincerely apologize for what I did when I was a foolish child.”
Kagami widened her eyes in surprise at his apology. The Damian Wayne she remembered would never apologize for his actions, even if he was wrong. Still she did lower her sword or loosen her grip on it.
“Kagami, whatever mistakes he made, or whatever he did to upset you is in the past. We’ve all made mistakes, you included, can’t you at least take a chance to get to know him now. He’s not a jerk, not to me at least.” He mumbled that last part to himself as Kagami finally stopped trying to attack Damian.
It seemed that during this time Damian had come to his own revelation as well, “Wait, you’re Kagami Tsurugi!” He said in shock.
'You didn't know?'
'No!'
“You finally figured it out. Took you long enough.” She tried to get in a surprise hit when Luka dropped his guard but Luka was quicker and went back to keeping her at bay.
“I am truly sorry for what I said-”
“Don’t be.” Kagami cut him off before silencing herself. She took a moment to think of what to say as Luka cautiously let her go. “Despite you being a little shit,” Marinette let out a dramatic gasp at the cuss word and Jon copied her. Kagami suppressed an eye roll and then continued, “You made me realize something. I don’t need to be perfect to be happy. You were the perfect example of that, to both me and my mother you were perfect, and yet you seemed miserable when we interacted. So thank you for that.”
“Your welcome?” Damian phrased it more like a question than a statement.
“That still doesn’t make you worthy of my friend though.” Kagami resumed her trying to attack Damian and Luka resumed holding her back.
'I'm really sorry about this.'
'Don't be, her anger is justified. I truly was a little shit when I was a child.'
Now was the time that Marinette finally became involved. It was so hard for Luka to try to play peacekeeper. Marinette was much more qualified for the job.
She made her way up to Kagami, Jon following right behind her, his eyes showed curiosity at what was about to happen. Marinette stepped right in between Damian and Kagami, her hand outstretched as she looked at Kagami and then the sword. Jon went to go stand next to his best friend as he watched what was about to happen. Kagami hesitated for only a moment before she gave up the sword. Damian and Jon watched stunned as Marinette took the sword and motioned for Luka to let Kagami go.
“Kagami, he may have been an asshole in the past, but me and Luka have been getting to know our soulmates for a few months and trust me, his only problem is that he’s a moody teen.” Marinette said understandingly as Damian protested behind her and Jon fell into a fit of laughter.
'Moody teen huh? That sound like you?'
'Shut up.'
'No.'
“You weren’t there.” Kagami tried to protest but her voice came out weak, like she was tired of fighting.
“I wasn’t, but Damian is not a bad guy, give him a chance.” Kagami nodded her head as Marinette leaned in and stage whispered, “Plus I think that Luka is starting to get tired of mentally apologizing to Damian this whole time.”
Damian and Jon gaped at the fact she was able to pick up on that while Kagami and Luka fondly rolled their eyes.
“Anyways glad that this has been solved because I have a date planned with Jon starting in,” Marinette quickly checked her phone before grabbing Jon’s arm, “15 minutes so we’ll be taking our leave now.” As she sped off with Jon in tow.
The trio looked at each other before Luka went over to Damian. They stayed in awkward silence for a little bit before Kagami spoke up, “I see that he makes you happy Luka. But if you do anything to hurt him Damian,” She stared straight into Damian’s soul as she said this, “I will not hesitate to run you through with my sword. And no one would be able to stop me." With that final message Kagami walked off to most likely hang with Chloe before movie night.
“Sorry about-” Luka turned to apologize but Damian cut him off.
“Stop apologizing, your friend was right to be angry with me. I was not the best child.”
“Who was? I’m sure you had your reasons for acting out, and when you’re comfortable I’d love to hear them. But only when you’re comfortable with it. Which you’re clearly not right now.”
“You’re not mad? That I upset your friend?”
“I mean it sucks that you two have bad blood, but Kagami listens to Marinette. We all do. When she says to give you a chance, Kagami is going to give you a chance.” Luka explained, giving a smile to Damian who returned a small smile of his own.
“So, what do you want to do now?” Damian asked.
“Well we’re all supposed to meet back at Chloe’s room for a movie night at 9, so we have an hour left. Wanna go get something to eat? There’s a good vegetarian place ten minutes away.”
“That would be nice.”
Damian walked alongside Luka as he led the way, slowly sliding his hand into Luka’s as they walked. Luka took his hand with a smile on his face as he and Damian walked in comfortable silence the rest of the way there.
