Work Text:

Ian had been lying awake which felt like hours. However, Ian wanted to move but he couldn’t. He felt as like bricks were on top of his body. The sun was coming out as it came towards 10 in the morning. So he put his face under the covers hiding from the light. He felt Mickey start to wake up. Even though he wasn’t facing him he knew Mickey would wake up soon.

As Mickey started to get up he rubbed his eyes and looked beside him seeing his husband appeared to be sleeping. He smiled looking at Ian and how peaceful he was thinking it was gonna be a good day. Mickey got out of bed put on some sweatpants and got up. As heading toward the bathroom Ian watched thinking in his mind turn around and come back not being able to speak. As a large knot in his throat got bigger he choked on a sob. He started to cry quietly and turned around curling into himself.

Mickey went into the bathroom and got ready for his day. Walking back out seeing that Ian turned around still under the covers. He didn’t pay any mind and thinking Ian wanted to sleep in so he went to the kitchen making waffles with scrambled eggs. With the side of coffee and Ian’s meds. Mickey carefully and quietly went into the shared bedroom and put the food down of the nightstand by the side of the bed and shook Ian.

“ Ian time to get up and take your medication”. Mickey said in a soft whisper since he didn’t want to be loud because his husband was still asleep.

“Ian you gotta get up”. Mickey said trying again hoping he didn’t think what he thought it was. Ian’s been doing so good with his meds and he wouldn’t have thought he would go into an episode after a long set of time.

“I’m sorry”.Ian said quietly still crying silently wishing that he could get up and not be in this state. Ian turned towards Mickey still under the covers. Mickey lifted up the blanket seeing Ian crying and shaking.

“ Ian don’t worry about it. You’re just having a bad day”. Mickey knowing what it was since Ian just apologized.

“ I wish I wasn’t bipolar. Wanna be better for you”.

“Ian you are good for me. I love you more than anything. Sometimes we have bad days but that isn’t gonna change how I feel for you”. Pulling Ian up and laying his head on Mickey’s chest. Mickey hated how Ian would put himself down sometimes about his disorder.

“ I’m acting just like Monica. Not getting out of bed being useless. Who knows what’s gonna happen next gonna start acting like a maniac going out doing drugs”. Ian trying to pull himself away. But Mickey held on tighter not wanting to let go. Ian just cried harder thinking he was such a bad person ruining everything and everyone.

“Ian I’m gonna say this once and I want you to listen to me carefully”. Mickey said pulling Ian’s face with both of his hands. “ You are not Monica and you never will be. Just because you have a disorder doesn’t mean its you. Everyone loves you for who you are and they don’t look at you any different.” Mickey kissed his husband’s forehead wiping his tears hoping his tiny speech would make Ian feel better about himself.

“ Mickey I love you, you know that.” Looking right into Mickey’s eyes giving him a small smile.

“ Ya I know, now take your meds so we can stay in bed all day, cuddle and watch movies.” Mickey trying to make Ian smile since it was one of his favorite things to see every day. “Now give me a kiss. ”

Ian chuckled and gave Mickey a slow loving kiss. They pulled away smiling at each other. Mickey got Ian’s meds. Ian popped the pills in his mouth and turned to look at Mickey seeing him smile.

“ Now can we cuddle?” Mickey chuckled lightly and nodded. Mickey laid down pulling Ian on his shoulder and turned on the tv in their room. As he put on Netflix looking for the show they’ve been binge-watching. He turned it on looked down at Ian and kissed his forehead. Mickey handed Ian his food since he had to eat after using his meds.

The two of them cuddle, share loving kisses and watch tv all day. Mickey knew Ian would always be insecure about how people will view him because of his disorder, but that would never stop Ian from being the loving, funny, and ridiculous person he ever met. But he knew just for today everything would be alright.
