You hummed a simple tune, it was one of HiMERU’s old songs. You and Niki were on a pretty empty train, his head on you’re shoulder dozing off to sleep. You both didn’t care about paparazzi, there was barely anyone around.
“Mmm....Kana....” Niki says as you turn to him, his eyes still closed. He is sleep talking again, ‘How cute’, you think to yourself. You knew he wasn’t awake, yet you answered, “Is anything wrong Niki...?”
“I wanna eat....beef stew....tasty...” he muttered, “...and cake...blueberry...blueberry cake..” he smiles, saliva streaming down his mouth. You chuckle, wiping the saliva off his mouth and kissing his head.
So of course you search online for places with the food he craved, finding the perfect place, you reserve a seat and pre-order some food.
When the train stops at your stop, you shake the sleeping Niki awake. A yawn and a piggyback ride later, you both arrive at your destination.
A small store at the side of the rode. Modern looking despite the menu, it had plants surrounding it and a small window seat which you reserved. Niki’s eyes light up looking at the store.
“Kaname this place is amazing!” he grins as he grabs your hand, rushing into the store. His excitement made you smile as you both sat down at your seat.
Soon, both of your food was served to your table. “Kaname, how did you know I was craving beef stew?!” he asked, shoving the food in his mouth.
You laugh, “A simple guess..” And he believed it, how gullible. “Yoyo! Am I missin’ out on somethin’!?” an obnoxious voice calls out as you groan.
“R-Rinne-kun?! How are you here....?” Niki said nervously, the only person that knew the both of you were on a date was Kohaku, and he’d never tell Rinne.
“Oya? They have a pachinko parlour near-by~” he grins, pulling a chair to sit with you both. It was your date, but Rinne didn’t know, so you didn’t chase him away.
“Anyways~ It’s surprisin’ t’see ya two together~ Didja call Kohaku-chan as well~?” he asked, Niki stayed silent eating his food, it was up to you to entertain Rinne.
“HiMERU ran into Shiina, we decided to come get lunch together ,” you lied, when will you ever stop lying to him. Lying is better than telling the truth sometimes, right?
You just watch him order a snack and join the both of you, you and Niki giving each other a awkward gaze. Rinne Amagi was now crashing their only date this week.
“That food was soo good~ Thank ya Merumeru for payin’” he grins, you sigh, you only wanted to pay for you and Niki, but you couldn’t leave Rinne out could you?
You see Rinne coming closer and pull you away as Niki goes to look at some snacks, "Merumeru~ I have a fun game we can play!" he tells you as you groan, "Whoever can make my lovely Niki-kyun happier wins~"
Your annoyed face shifts into a smirk, "Game on Amagi." It would be easy, he may be with Niki for 4 years but the one in Niki's heart was you, and you were going to use that to your advantage.
The both of you walk to where Niki was, he was staring a bread outside of a bakery. "Niki-kyun, yer still hungry~?" Rinne asked, a grin on his face. "Hmmm....It just seems so go-" his words cut off when you walk out of the store.
"Shiina," you say as you hand him a bag of bread, his grins as he grabbed onto the bag. "HiMERU-kun~! How did you know I wanted a melon bread?" he asked you, you smile. "Just a good deduction."
You see Rinne frown, "HiMERU: 1 and Rinne: 0"
The next stop was the jewelry store, you see Rinne run around the store trying to find something Niki might like. Instead, you slowly look through what they have that Niki may like.
You see a small necklace with a frying pan on it, you laugh, grabbing it and making your way to Niki. "Shiina, this looks good for you," you call for him as he looks at the necklace.
"A frying pan? That's so cute...!" he beams, trying on the necklace. The blue and grey matches him a lot, you smile, if Rinne wasn't here you would kiss him on the cheek.
"No fair Merumeru~ I also gotcha this cute necklace Niki-kyun~" he runs towards them, a pair of ocean blue earing in his hands. "R-Rinne-kun, that's beautiful~! I think I'm gonna get both~" Niki hums making his way to the counter.
Rinne gives you a smirk as you roll your eyes, "HiMERU: 2 and Rinne: 1"
The 3 of you agreed to go to a cafe, though on the way there, a certain store caught Rinne’s eyes. A ring store, you bite your lip as you see him walk towards the window.
His eyes gazed on the silver rings, “Niki-kyun~ When Crazy B earns big bucks, I’ll get ya a huge ring! Ya can show it off t’everyone and you’ll be Niki Amagi~ Wah! Doesn’t it sound great~” a soft genuine smile on his face as he wraps his hand around Niki.
You could see Niki reluctantly smiling, it felt uncomfortable for the both of you. “Yeah...I can’t wait,” Niki said, his voice having a hint of hesitation which only you could pick up.
“Merumeru can be yer bridesmaid, groomsman? I don’t really care~” your hands slowly clench into a fist, you weren’t angry a Rinne, you were angry at yourself.
Angry at how you loved and stole the man that was always in Rinne’s heart. How selfish of you, yet you wouldn’t allow Niki to be taken away from you like he was.
So you won’t let Niki go, no matter what, you would make sure Niki never gets hurt. You will make sure Niki is happy, Niki is healthy and that he’ll never be sad. He’ll be by your side until your love is gone.
“Are ya both okay?” Rinne asked as you finally snap back into reality. “Apologises, HiMERU was thinking of something, shall we get going?” you asked back.
“Yeah~! I’m hungry,” Niki hums as the both of you walk away, slowly being followed by Rinne. “HiMERU: 2 and Rinne: 2”
The three of you sat in the cafe, it was quiet, filled with people studying or reading. You order a blueberry cake for Niki, a strawberry smoothie for Rinne and a crepe for yourself.
You manage to buy a cake for Niki before Rinne did and once again, “How did you know I was craving blueberry cake?! HiMERU-kun you really are amazing at deductions~”
You laugh, it wasn’t your deductions at all, it was just Niki’s sleep talking. “Eh Merumeru, ya know Niki-kyun so well don’ cha? Ya two are really good friends~” he hums.
Friends, right. In Rinne’s eyes, you both were only friends. Not boyfriends, just friends. You ignore his words, biting into your cake as Niki does the same.
“Yeah, HiMERU and Shiina are good friends,” you smile, a scary one in fact. You could see fear in Rinne’s eyes. “Merumeru ya don’t gotta get all scary ya know~” he teases.
Niki still silently eating his cake, he was off on his own world, not paying attention to you and Rinne’s conversation. You were only halfway finished with your crepe when Niki finished his cake.
“That was so delicious~” he beams, a small cream stain on the side of his cheek. You seem to forget Rinne was still here, you used your finger to clean his lip. Like you’d always do with him, he chuckles in embarrassment.
“Ni- Shiina, you’re an idol. You should learn how to eat properly in public,” you nearly called him Niki until you remembered Rinne was here. Play the facade, it was easy, you always did it anyways.
“Yeahyeah~ Hurry up and finish your cake! If you don’t want it I don’t mind having it~“ he suggested playfully as you smile. Sliding the cake over to him, “Than have it, HiMERU is feeling a little full.”
“HiMERU-kun your the best~!” he hums. Rinne just sits there, mostly confused but a little annoyed. He was losing the lovely game he created thinking he would win. “HiMERU:3 and Rinne: 2”
And with the last stop, your date has come to an end, and you have won the game. “Congra-“ Rinne’s words were cut of by Niki’s, “Thank you for today HiMERU-kun! It was wonderful~” he smiles, you both could see the happiness and the shine in his eyes as he looks at you, the look of someone in love.
“No problem Shiina, HiMERU is happy that your happy,” you smile back, tucking his hair to the side to admire his face more. At this point you ignored Rinne, it was just like you and Niki were the only two people here.
“What’s with the chummy teenage romances~ Anyways thank ya Merumeru fer the free food~ ‘M gonna head to the Pachinko parlour now~“ Rinne turns away and waves a goodbye. You could hear the defeat and sadness in his voice. It hurt a little.
Niki grabs your hand when Rinne wasn’t looking, “I know it wasn’t an amazing date today Kaname, how about we head over to your place and I’ll make us dinner?” Niki suggested as you smile.
“It was the perfect date Niki, but I would love to eat your cooking,” you kiss him on the cheek, how you wished to do this hours ago.
“We have to stop by the grocery store first! I’ll make pasta tonight~”
“I can’t wait....We should cuddle after.”
“You’re so clingy Kaname...!”
