Kaname wakes up in a cold sweat, deep breaths coming from his mouth as he sat up. His two other roommates were still asleep luckily, his panic had no woke them up. After he calmed down, he grabbed his phone, hesitating to call his boyfriend. His nightmare, he was afraid that it may come true. He had already lost HiMERU, he couldn't lose Niki. It was better to talk with him wasn't it? He press the call button, waiting a few minutes before Niki answers. "....Kaname..? You okay...? It's like... I dunno 3am...?" Niki yawns, Kaname bites his lip before speaking.
"I had a bad dream...It's fine if you wanna sleep but, I'll be at the garden okay?" he tells Niki, he can hear the tired yawns of his boyfriend. "I'll meet you there...I don't want you to deal with it alone okay...!" Despite being sleepy, Niki still had the cheerful voice Kaname loved, making him smile. "Great, I'll see you there," with one last message he hangs up, going to change in more warm clothes.
Silently making his way out to the garden, the stars were so bright today. How peaceful, a nice stroll would clear your mind. You sat on a bench, waiting for Niki to arrive. In less than a few minutes, you hear footsteps coming from the man you were waiting for. "Kaname, are you okay?" he asked, panting from running to find you. As you looked into his ocean blue eyes, you wrapped him in a hug.
"Yeah...I just, had a nightmare," Niki hugged you tighter at the word. “It’s okay Kaname, I’m here okay, you can tell me what’s wrong..” you had never been this vulnerable in front of Niki since the day you told him your true identity, yet he never judge you. He really was correct, you knew it, he’ll never leave you.
“I feel...selfish...I never want to let you go. In my nightmare you left me, you left me without saying a single goodbye. You told me you no longer loved me, you told me that Amagi was the only one in your heart. You told me you wanted to break up with me and that I was just a replacement to you...” slowly tears streamed down Kaname’s face. “I never want you to leave me Niki, I’m selfish..But you’re mine....” he begins to cry.
Niki unwraps him from the hug, wiping away his tears. Rarely ever stepping up to be the one who comforts Kaname, it was always the opposite. “Kaname, I’ll never leave you, you know it. The day when you confessed to me, I told you that I love you and that I’ll never leave you.” Niki smiles, Kaname loved that smile.
“I’m just as afraid as you are, I’m afraid you decide to leave me because you think I love Rinne-kun more. I’m also afraid that you leave me without a trace. I’m the selfish one Kaname, I never want to let you go as well, I want to be together with you forever. Remember, we’re bound by the red string of fate,” Niki also begins tearing up, giggling when you kissed his cheek.
You hug him once more, giving him another kiss on the head. “Than I’ll be selfish, you’ll be mine forever..” you smile as he buries his face in your shoulder. “Can we just watch the stars, I don’t feel like going back to sleep...” Niki suggested as you nod. You both sat down on the bench, looking at the stars as he lays on your shoulder. This all felt like a dream, but it was real. Everything was real, including the voice.
“..Ni-Niki-kyun...? ...Merumeru? Ya jokin’ aren’t cha?!” Rinne chuckles as the two of them suddenly turn around. Kaname holding Niki’s hands tightly as they both stared in shock. “Ya both are so funny~ Who would think ya both datin’ would be a funny joke~” he walks up to them, about to grab onto Niki before Kaname pulls him away.
Just like that, your worst nightmare came true. “Amagi, it is not a joke. Shiina- No, Niki and I are dating. We’ve been dating since the Ariadne live...” you say, proudly and confidently. You were tired of of lying to Rinne and seeing him flirt with your beloved. Niki was yours, and you had to tell Rinne sooner or later. You could see Niki a little paranoid before you grab his hand tighter, to signify that you were there for him.
Rinne froze, he was still in shock from everything he heard to what Kaname had told him. The man he always hoped to be his bride was now with another man, not only that, it was with one of his closest friends. "Haha...So am I a fool?! Am I the fool who got played?!" he laughs as his voice cracked. Niki's heart ached, he felt like it was all his fault, yet he couldn't say anything, he was afraid the situation would get worse.
"Tell me!?......So was wantin' ta marry me all a lie!? Niki...Tell me..." Rinne was trying to hold back his tears as Niki bit his lip. "I....I...I did like you, but HiMERU... he makes me feel happy, he makes me feel proud of being a chef and an idol. I love HiMERU.. a lot..I just didn't want to hurt you, " Niki cries as Kaname wrapped him in a hug to comfort him. He felt like shit for doing this in front of Rinne but Niki tears stabbed his heart like knives.
"......" Rinne stays silent, looking at Kaname comforting Niki. He was jealous, he wished that it was him who had Niki in his arms. But he knew Niki was happy, he knew Niki was happy when he was with Kaname, happier than when he was with Rinne. He clenched his fist, his feelings were conflicted, he felt cheated and lied to but Niki was happy, and that was all that matter.
"......If he makes ya happy, than....'m glad." And with one final word Rinne walks away, beginning to let the tears roll down his face. Niki wanted to chase after him but he couldn't feel his legs anymore, nearly falling on his knees if Kaname had not support him. "Niki...." he whispers but his words were blocked by the sound of Niki sobbing.
He sat Niki down on the bench, letting the older cry on his chest. Kaname was equally jealous, Rinne wishes it was him who was comforting Niki but Kaname wishes the man that Niki was crying so hard for was him. He slowly creases Niki's head, "...I-I-I'm..S-sorry..." Niki choked on his tears as Kaname wipes them away. Kiss him on the head, "It's fine....If crying makes you feel better, cry more..." he whispers.
And he did cry more, he cried on your shoulder for a good few minutes before eventually running out of tears and feeling tired. He fell asleep after a long crying session, you carried him back to your dorm. Hoping Narukami and Nagumo wouldn't mind that Niki was sleeping in your bed tonight. The older was tired, and so were you. You went to bed, hoping Amagi didn't do anything rash.
Wrapping your hands around Niki, "Goodnight...I love you." Maybe tomorrow would be better, maybe tomorrow you would go find and talk to Amagi, but now all you wanted to do was rest with your lover.
Little did you know, the red haired bee was drinking his pain away somewhere both of you didn't know.
