Glitched

Summary:

Something strange happens in the tower. Mono awakes to a familiar scene and what of his friend?
Yooo I suck at summaries, read this --> The gist of this fic is that Six is Monster Six for the whole game and mono and her have to problem solve. Things are going to play out very differently(I'll be adding new levels and original monsters too). Mono is going to try and find a way to get six back to normal if thats even possible and figure out what the heck happened back in the signal tower.

Notes:

I'm kinda nervous to post this tbh.
This will be my first fanfiction and probably my last cause I don't really care for writing that much. I like to draw way more, but I do enjoy reading stories and I think I can write in a way that will be pleasant at the very least. I don't have beta readers and I peer edit myself with paperrater and text to speech. Some errors might be present (let me know if it gets really bad) but if you have any writing tips please let me know. Help me, help you to make this reading experience better for both of us! I want your criticism!

btw idk how to do line breaks once I learn how to do that I might go back and fix them.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: I'll Kill You

Chapter Text

Heart beat thumping wildly he stumbled into the next room. Visceral violet continued to pulsate even more so than before, the sickening glow stung at his eyes, encouraging the boy to give up. Fatigue raked over his body as he began to lug the heavy axe behind him.

“I can’t fail her… Not again. We’re going to get out of this together!”

The air was almost vibrating in anticipation from his personal declaration. With renewed vigor he raised his hand up for her.

“HEY!” Crescendoed off the walls, getting louder and louder as the echoes reverberate within the distorted space. Walls bubbled into flesh with bulbous eyes staring him down with disgust, as if staring could stop his determination.

His friend clutched her head in a vain attempt to block out his horrific howl. In doing so she left her beaten music box unguarded. Shrieking from the overwhelming sensations of his warped calls all she could will herself was to weakly cry. She felt so weak, confused, and scared.

Does he not see how painful this is?

Before Mono could give the final blow on the music box everything shuddered to a halt. As if time froze, the walls no longer writhed with life while the air grew to an uncomfortable still. Worry settled into his chest when he too realized he was unable to move. No matter how much strength he could muster his limbs wouldn't budge. No longer in control of his body he felt hopeless. His eyes flicked about around the room only to witness the space becoming more contorted. The room's existence seemed to break from reality, missing fragments revealed voids of space. Cracks glowed white, wisping as they cut deeper into reality. Mono observed these fractures in reality, noticing some voids contained his memories, and others were of events that never happened, some even looked like they were from other worlds, others where before all this happened. The toxic glow of the malformed room was slowly being overpowered by the white lights of the cracks. His ears started to ring.

“I’m sorry Six.”

Accepting his fate he squeezed his eyes shut letting the white envelope him.

Jolting up Mono took heavy breaths of the crisp night air while clutching his chest. Steadily breathing he looked around trying his best to process what he went through. Heaving he scanned the space he was in and found himself outside opposed to being in the tower a few moments ago. Experiencing some deja vu he rubbed his eyes wondering if this is some kind of afterlife. Shortly he was greeted by a familiar site, one that made him jump back in fright. A lone TV in a grassy field surrounded by forest. Panic crept into his frail gut, “Is this some kind of sick joke? H-how, how can this be? I was Just at the- ”. Eyes widening when he remembers her, ”Oh no, no, no. Where are you?”.

Frantically he scrambled onto his feet and raced to the hunters cabin.

Avoiding traps and problem solving obstacles from memory, Mono was speeding his way to the cabin, everything was nearly the same, the only observation that had put him off was the excessive damage to his surroundings. Trees had torn branches, the ground was beat up with deep gashes, even some of the traps were already triggered. The closer he got to the cabin the more notably violent the destruction became. This only increased his worry for his friend’s well being.

“Please be ok.”

...

Hearing a gunshot fire along with a familiar, terrifying screech, he froze in disbelief. No freaking way! Quivering he faced the direction of the shriek, raising his trembling hands.

“Oooooooiii!”

.
.
.

Growling through her rage Six thrashed the hunters cabin. Breaking windows, pulling shingles off, and ripping the railings from the foundation. Needless to say she captured the hunters full attention. With his rifle half cocked the hunter stormed out to see what the hell was wrecking his home. Grunting he looked around his rundown cabin and spotted the yellow clad beast on the roof, taking aim he fired. After hearing a shot whiz by, Six took the hint and bounded off the roof and into the woods for cover. Crying out a small victory from her act of vandalism upon the hunters property.

Faintly she could hear something disturbingly familiar, “Oooooooiii!” being called out. Unsure if she should respond to his call she slowed her pace to something almost silent. As she got closer to him she could feel her anger rise with a thirst for vengeance after all the torture he put her through.

Following his repeated calls Six remained concealed within the tree line. Spotting the all too familiar paper bag, Six stayed low to the ground stalking closer to the bag in the open grass. An anger fueled roar erupted from her jaws, hatred shot her towards her vulnerable target. In her blind rage she did not see the hunter take aim at her.

Click.

BANG!

Feeling herself get shoved back by an unknown force directed her attention to a yellow light. Ignoring the quiet sting in her shoulder she vaulted in the hunters direction, paying no mind to Mono fleeing the scene. Shrieking aloud she latched onto the hunters waist and neck, her strength overpowering his by a large margin. The power she wielded in this body was honestly intoxicating, and gave her quite the rush. Relishing in the excitement she watched the man struggle under her pin. Quickly flipping his weapon around he stuck the butt of the rifle in what he could assume was her face underneath that dark mop of hair. Reeling back from the impact Six howled in pain while holding her nose. Pulling a hand away revealed blood dripping through her long fingers. Hearing the hunter reload she wiped her bloody nose with a thumb and shook off the sting on her face. Growling she bared her teeth and started circling him, waiting for him to fire his only line of defence on her. Growing impatient she rushed him, grabbing the barrel and forcing it up to the sky he mistakenly pulled the trigger. Feeling the barrel grow hot after its payload she tore it from his hands and tossed it to the side. Six had him pinned to the forest floor again and seeing this monster squirm under her she began to laugh when she realized the irony of his struggles. Not so much fun is it now? When you're the one pleading for mercy. The feeling of helplessness was few and far between in Six’s memories, but it was a dreaded feeling she was all too aware of in this world. Her warped laughter only made the hunter wriggle more frantically, in a vain attempt he reached out for his firearm in hopes it would come to him. In Six’s sick amusement she grabbed the gun with her long arms and put it just out of his reach, but just close enough for his fingertips to brush the smooth surface of the wood. Monsters don't deserve mercy. Raising a fist over head she brought it down onto the burlap sack, a sick squelching sound came from the impact.

She sat on the body with a glazed look in her hidden eyes, the adrenaline started to wear off and she slowly felt the brunt of her injuries getting more sore by the minute. Was this even real? Did I just kill the hunter? Looking at her bloody hands with blurred vision she could see them trembling. Remembering her unfinished business she closed her palms and took a few uneasy steps with equally weak breathing.

Witnessing the whole fight, Mono felt himself hyperventilating, his thoughts were racing and clouded his mind, unable to even think straight with his wild conclusions. Needing a moment to collect his thoughts he leaned back sliding down the trunk of the tree that kept him hidden. Blank eyes stared out in deep thought. Sure Six had her violent tendencies and quirks if you will, but this was something else completely. Has she always been this aggressive? Clearly the tower had something to do with this. With all of this… Right? This wasn't the first time he’d seen Six kill, but it still shook him up even thinking about it, how she bashed that porcelain kid to shards. Goosebumps prickled his cool skin from the not so distant memory. It was her laughter that scared him the most, not the distortion aspect, however that did not help him feel any better. She laughed at the hunters struggles. While Mono didn't like the monstrous adults, taking life never sat well with him no matter who it was that died. He even felt remorse when the doctor died, but quickly remembered all of his horrific experiments he had committed on countless patients. Peeking around the tree his eye immediately looked at the hunter's smashed skull, his flickering lantern illuminated the scattered brain matter across the forest floor. Six was still hunched over his remains, she looked to be trembling over him. Feeling sick he could no longer look at the corpse, with nowhere else to go he walked back to the cabin, maybe he could get his hands on some food, just something to clear his mind no matter how stale it might be.

Noticing some traps have not been sprong he avoided them by walking around the steely contraptions, too tired to set them off. Mono rubbed his eye and adjusted his head wear only to freeze when heard a twig snap accompanied by low growls. Not sparing a moment to look back he dashed to the frail safety the cabin offered. A screech bellowed behind him, followed by sluggish thumps to the earthy ground. In his attempts to run faster the distance only seemed to grow along with his ever increasing fear of Six. Sliding to the porch of the tattered cabin he glanced back at his pursuer. She looked like a disaster, her head hung low and her steps were sloppy, she even keened with each step. Seeing her in pain like this made him feel terrible and then guilty. He'd been through so much with her and now was abandoning her? Scolding himself for almost giving up on his best friend. His eyes widened when realized where she was headed, jumping off the porch he raced to her.

Unsure of what was compelling him, he yelled out, “WAIT WATCH OUT!” but it was too late.

.
.
.

Swaying from side to side with each step the lumbering form only had eyes locked on to Mono. Her rage was losing intensity and no longer supplying her with energy. Nearly tipping over from all of her aches, the exhaustion and blood loss started to catch up with her. Her limbs started to move on their own with a tingling sensation. All of her senses started to fade in and out into a jellowly echo. Faintly she made out someone saying, “wait”, wait for what? Seeing Mono running toward her she reached a weak arm out in a pathetic attempt to grab him. Struggling against gravity she lost to the natural pull and instantly recoiled at the sharp sensation biting into her wrist. All of her senses seemed to have reawakened with some clarity from the new stimulus. She could hear him talking and flailing his arms around, but nothing made any sense. All of the hurt was starting to become too much. Backing away from him with her injured limbs she felt another steely bite clamp onto her ankle. Falling over she fearfully looked down at Mono- wait, where'd he go? The air around her felt suffocating with stress was rolling off of her in waves while she searched the ground for Mono.

Blinking clearly she made out the foggy image of Mono dragging an ax behind him, Blinking again she found herself inside the tower. The purple glow and squirming room of flesh started to fuel the growing panic within, coupled with all of the pain shooting through her body she weakly cried out. The ax glinitd from the ambient glow as he slowly lifted it up. Futilely dragging herself away from the impending pain in a last ditch effort for survival she started to flail when Mono got closer.

Everything hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts!

Make it stop.

Shrieking in a plea for mercy...

.

She whimpered more at his approach. Mono gently called out in hopes of comforting his lanky friend, even going as far as explaining what he was going to do. She didn't appear to be listening to his words. When lifting up the blade she visibly shrank in on herself, fearfully squirming more so from the objects present. She cried out in anguish while covering her face with bloody hands. Of course, how could he be so stupid?! No wonder she's so scared.

“Oh...Ooooh, I-I won't use it!”

“But I need to get those traps off.”

Tossing the object aside and opting for a nearby stick he finally got close enough to the metallic contraptions. With great effort he wedged the stick in its jaws and managed to pry it off. After getting the second one off Six calmed down, even relaxed some.

“Hey…”

Touching her hand he examined her form, she was still a bloody mess, breathing was labored, and blood continued spurting from her chest along with the newly acquired wounds on her limbs.

That can't be good thinking to himself.

Inhaling, “You're not going to like this… We have to disinfect these wounds and stop the bleeding there.” Pointing to her bloody shoulder.

Absentmindedly she pointed to herself in a questioning manner and chittered back at him.

Awkwardly tugging on her large hand he guided her to the Cabin. The door was still wide open from the hunters' anger, slightly thankful for the now easy access they walked into the drafty space. Wood creaked under their presence when they welcomed them in.

Slumping against a wall, and somehow semi conscious Six felt numb. Barely able to understand what the smaller being babbled about. She felt light and her body moved on its own. The talking blob rushed about collecting supplies? It was still talking and would sometimes come close and move away. Looked like it wanted her to follow. Humoring it she let it guide her to a table.

She crawled on to a chair and could sit in it... and touch the table in front of her... For some reason this should have felt weird to her, but she didn't care. Only focused on the blob racing around her. Soon it scaled up the table and still continued chattering. Will this thing shut up for god's sake?

She watched it walk around the table, prepping the things that were collected.

She passed out the moment the whiskey touched her skin.

.
.
.

After dabbing her wrist with the alcohol she started to sway.

“Oh, Oh no...”

Jumping out of the way she faced planted right where he once stood. A small laugh escaped his mouth, even without trying she could have killed him. Clearing the morbid thought he continued cleaning out the wounds.

Far away memories tickled the back of his mind while concentrating on his task. The orphanage was a safe haven for lost children. Many of the older kids looked after the young ones. They taught the younger ones techniques for survival in this horrible world. Recalling all the times he had to care for his own wounds. An injured child was a dead child after all.

Wrapping her wrist and ankle was easy, her shoulder not so much. The blood seemed to have coagulated and now that he could get a slightly better look he made out the exit wound on her back. Sighing in relief that he wouldn't have to go digging for the bullet he dabbed the clean part of the cloth in ale.

Crawling around her form he did his best to loop the cloth around her chest. Tying it off he flopped down only to realize just how tired he really was, not to mention hungry too.

He closed his eyes, drifting off to sleep.
