Work Text:

Grell Sutcliff walked down the dimly lit road late one evening on his way to his flat after his walk as he tried to clear his head. He knew that when he'd get back to the flat he'd get into another argument with his roommate so he was trying to draw out his walk for as long as he could. Minimum 2 shinigami's to a flat. That was the rule. That was just how it was, no exceptions. No matter how much Grell hated it and complained about it there was nothing he could do to change it. He had the pleasant and unpleasant luck of having his boss, William T. Spears as his roommate. Not to get him wrong, he loved having William as his roommate cause then he got to spend that much more time with him but it did come with a price. William was still his cold self even if it was lessened a bit since he got the chance to relax every now and then when Grell decided to leave him alone but there was times when William was even colder than his usual self and William made him feel even more worthless than he already was. Grell stopped as he reached his flat and just stood outside as he stared at the door. The lights were on which told him that William had finally come home from work. Grell wondered how long William had stayed at work to be away from him. He wasn't sure and he wasn't sure he wanted to know. He also didn't want to go inside at the moment. He wasn't exactly thrilled to see his darling William this time. He kinda made William mad at work and he knew that it would lead to another uneasy night filled with more arguing, crying on his part and him being the victim of William's death scythe, again... He rubbed his head at the thought of how many times he'd been hit over the head with that stupid thing. He always tried to make William smile but every antic of his was considered 'foolish' or 'silly' or 'unprofessional' by his boss and it just made William frown even more. He wasn't sure how much longer he'd be able to take living with his boss. He had even thought about relocating and maybe going to share a place with his friend Ronald Knox, another shinigami with blonde hair and bits of black underneath, who just so happened to be on his own now since his roommate just moved out. At least Ronald respected him and gave him the love and affection he desired even if it wasn't truly felt by the younger reaper. It just made Grell happy and it boosted his self esteem to hear it anyways. After much thought over whether he should enter the flat or not he decided to just let William cool off some more so he went and sat on the stairs which led to the door of their flat. He pulled his knees up to his chest, letting his feet rest on the step beneath him and he rested his arms on his knees which he then let his chin rest on his arms. He felt a slight shiver run down his spine as a cool breeze blew by and he really wished that he had brought his coat along for his walk. He had come straight home after work and had taken off his coat before going on his walk. He had forgotten to grab it on his way out the door. Oh well, there was nothing he could do about it now he thought sadly to himself. He just hoped that he didn't get sick. But between getting sick and having to fight with Will, he'd go with getting sick. He let his empty and dull yellow and green eyes which were usually filled with excitement and mischief stare out over the empty street as his thoughts kept him occupied, for the time being that is...

William came home from work that evening feeling rather stressed out and annoyed and was not ready to have to deal with the red haired annoyance for a second time. He had tried to relax in his office at work but he just wasn't able to clear his head when he was surrounded by the mountains of paperwork he still had to do because of Grell's tardiness. It took him longer than he expected to get through it all. He went up to the door to his flat and went to open the door but found that it was locked. Grell normally leaves the door open, he thought to himself as he raised an eyebrow in slight surprise. Unfazed, he pulled out his own key, unlocked the door and opened it before walking in. He shut the door behind him and he was surprised to find that the flat was empty as he took off his shoes and left them on the mat by the door. Normally when he'd get home he'd see Grell's large red coat hanging off the back of the couch in the living room that could be seen from the doorway and his heels on the mat by the door where he'd exchange them for a pair of red slippers but to his surprise the slippers were still in the same place as they had been when they left that morning. It was odd, Grell is normally here when he gets home and normally greets him at the door with another attempt at flirting with him and the odd time would offer him a cup of horribly made tea. He figured he'd take whatever peace and quiet he could get and would enjoy himself before the red head got back. He was probably out with some of the younger reapers he thought to himself. Grell was always the outgoing type and could most of the time be found with Ronald Knox, Alan Humphries and Eric Slingby. Whether it be out partying, drinking, just hanging out, or a mix of all 3 he could always find the red head enjoying himself, something that he himself hadn't had the pleasure of doing in what felt like forever. William let out a sigh as he flipped on the light switch relieving the darkness from the flat. He then began to walk towards the kitchen as he took off his jacket and tugged at his tie but left it on so it hung loosely around his neck. He hung his jacket neatly over a chair in the kitchen as he stretched out his back and grabbed an apple from the fridge. As he did this he looked into the other room at the stairway and saw Grell's long red coat hanging on the railing. So the red head was home. Odd, normally Grell doesn't wear his shoes around the house he thought to himself. If Grell was home he'd normally see the red head's heels by the door, and the door would have been unlocked for that matter. The only time Grell would lock the door was if he was taking a bath or shower and didn't want anyone sneaking in without his knowing, but he couldn't hear the water running which told him that he was probably wrong on that thought.
William: Grell?
He called but all he got back was eery silence in response. Maybe he was taking a nap? He questioned to himself as he slowly walked towards the stairs. It certainly wouldn't surprise him if Grell was having a nap. He went up the stairs and took a quick look around to find that he wasn't upstairs at all and hadn't been recently. Well he was here at one point, he thought to himself as he figured that the red haired reaper had probably just gone out on a quick errand but another thought struck him. He normally didn't go anywhere without his red coat. Grell leaving his coat behind was like a shinigami going somewhere without their spectacles. He pushed the thoughts away as he went back downstairs and went over to the bookcase which sat in the corner of the living room. The room was a mix of white, black and red as was the rest of the flat. It was easy to distinguish who owned what for pretty much everything that was red was Grell's and everything else pretty much was William's. He looked over his shelf and finally decided on a book. Most of the books were his with the odd one here and there of Grell's but you could easily tell which ones were Grell's by looking at the titles on the spines. He decided that the best way to calm down would be to enjoy the peace and quiet and just read his stress away. He took the book he picked and walked over to the couch before he sat down and stretched himself out across it, something he wouldn't normally do in the presence of others. He liked to keep up his professional appearance whenever he could and only let himself relax and drop the facade when he was truly alone. He opened his book and began to read, letting the words on the page take his mind off the red haired nuisance who he figured would be back soon enough to interrupt his peace and quiet.

After reading for a good long while William felt better and more relaxed than he had been in ages. He came out of his focused state, looked over at the clock on the wall and noticed the time. He hadn't realized that he had read for so long. He got up and stretched his back as he closed his book and set it down on the small coffee table which had a single lit candle sitting on it beside the couch. He went over to the fireplace and knelt down in front of it as he brought a fire to life to get rid of the chill in the air which had formed over the past hour that he had been reading. He knew that Grell hated when it was cold in the flat since he would complain about it until his whining got William to get a fire going. Once the fire was going he stood up and looked over at the clock again, adjusting his spectacles again out of habit as he read the time. When he did, he realized that Grell still wasn't back yet. He felt a sense of unease, concern, and worry for the younger reaper wash over him. Grell normally wasn't out this late and even if he was he'd normally have left him a note saying that he would be out late. He was normally thoughtful like that. He began to think about the day he had. Maybe he'd been too hard on Grell. Yes, Grell was a nuisance but he did enjoy the red head's company, not that he'd admit it to anyone. Especially Grell. He'd never hear the end of it and that would probably cut down his personal time even more. He pushed away his thoughts of concern as he went back into the kitchen to put on some tea but changed his mind halfway and made himself some hot chocolate instead. After the water boiled he poured it in his cup and he mixed in the hot chocolate powder. Once he did that he noticed that he had made enough for him and someone else. Namely his roommate. He found that whenever he made tea for himself Grell would always want some so he'd end up making twice as much as he'd first intended too. And now it seemed that he had done it without even realizing it. He put his cup to his lips and carefully took a sip, being careful not to burn himself on the hot liquid. He looked out the kitchen window and something red caught his eye as he looked away. He pushed up his spectacles, turned his gaze towards it and realized that it was red hair. Hair that he recognized almost immediately. He looked out and realized that Grell was sitting on the steps outside their flat. William noticed that he looked kinda put out and miserable as he took a closer look. He was frowning and his eyes seemed unfocused. What was he doing out there in the cold? William thought to himself. It wasn't because of how he acted towards him at work was it? He thought as he felt a wave of guilt wash over him. How long had he been outside the door? He didn't lock it so it was still open and Grell would normally knock if the door was locked. He noticed that Grell didn't have his coat on for it was still hanging on the stairs railing and he realized that he'd get sick if he was out there for too long in the cold. Even though reapers were pretty much immune to simple illnesses it wasn't exactly rare that they would catch them. Not even 2 months ago he was down for the count with a high fever and the flu. Those were the worst couple days of his life. Grell had to take care of him and he was even more clingy than usual. Always asking if he needed anything and if there was something he could do. Yes it irritated him to no end but he figured that he could have been sick for longer if Grell hadn't nursed him back to full health. He should be thankful to him. Grell even did all William's paperwork including his own which shocked and impressed William. He decided that to make up for his jerkiness lately he'd do something nice for his roommate. Something he hadn't done in a long time he realized which made another wave of guilt flood through him. Grell did so much for him, and he never even noticed. Just the other day he had found that he was running low on his favorite tea and when he came home that night he found another box in the cupboard with a small note in Grell's writing that said 'I bought you more tea since I saw you were almost out.' And he then signed it in neat cursive in his usual red ink. William pulled out another mug from the cupboard and filled it with the rest of the hot water as he made a hot chocolate for his roommate. He found a couple left over candy canes from Christmas in the cupboard as well which Grell had stored there for whenever he was in the mood for candy and he broke the straight part off one of them and put it in Grell's cup so the one end was sticking out of the hot liquid. He knew that Grell liked peppermint so he decided that he would for once in his life since they met, treat him like the lady Grell thought he was. He left the 2 mugs on the table as he grabbed his jacket off the chair and put it on, fixing his tie as he did so. Not wanting to catch a cold himself. He didn't know what he'd do if they both got sick. That would mean even more overtime and they were already behind and short-staffed enough as it was. William went into the other room and grabbed a maroon blanket which just happened to be hanging over the side of one of the armchairs. He draped it over his arm as he went back into the kitchen and grabbed the 2 mugs of hot chocolate. He figured that if he wasn't able to convince Grell to come inside that he could at least give him the blanket to keep him warm. He then went to the door and put his shoes on. He set one of the mugs down on the table beside the door so he could open it and when he did a swift chill swept into the flat. He wondered why Grell just didn't come into the flat in the first place. He normally complains about the cold and can't stand being in it for more than 5 minutes. Especially without his beloved coat. Something was definitely bothering the redhead, he thought to himself. It seemed that Grell hadn't noticed that he was standing in the doorway. Grell seemed deep in thought about something. He grabbed the other mug which he had set down to open the door and he carefully shut the door behind him as he stepped out of the flat so as to keep the heat inside and the cold out. The sound of the door shutting caught Grell's attention and caused him to look behind him at his boss who surprisingly didn't look like he was mad. He looked surprisingly relaxed for someone who was always so cold and uptight. Grell stared up at him with wide eyes as he stepped forward and to his surprise, sat down next to him on the steps. He was expecting some witty comment asking why he was out in the cold and about if he got sick he wouldn't be relieved from his duties but it never came. He then noticed the 2 mugs in his boss's hands and the small smile that was on his boss's face. He barely ever saw him smile and it almost made him fear whatever was to come. But instead of a harsh and mean gesture William just smiled the best he could as he held out the mug that had a candy cane sticking out the top towards him. Grell was surprised by the sudden gesture. William was being generous? And to him of all people? Why was he being so generous suddenly? He thought that William was mad at him. He mentally thought to himself as a confused look crossed his face.
Grell: For me?
He questioned as his cheeks reddened slightly. William was never this happy, or this tolerate of him before. William normally hated being in the same room as him let alone wanting to sit beside him. It seemed that he was finally taking a chance he thought to himself as the corner of his lips twitched upwards in a small smile.
William: Who else would it be for?
He just smirked slightly at the surprised look on Grell's face. Grell smiled thankfully as he carefully took the mug from his boss's hands and cupped his hands around the warm mug. Letting the heat warm up his cold hands. He had really wished that he hadn't left his coat inside. And he didn't want to interrupt their calm moment to go get it. Suddenly something was draped over his shoulders and he jumped slightly, still on edge by the fact that he thought Will was gonna hit him.
William: I'm not gonna hurt you if that's what you're thinking. I think I've put you through enough today.
He said as he put the other side of the blanket over his own shoulders and since the blanket wasn't exactly big he had to be sitting pretty much against Grell for it to spread over the 2 of them. But for once, he didn't mind being near the red head. Earlier he probably would have cringed at this situation but he was more relaxed now and didn't find it as bad as it could be. William grabbed his mug which he had set on the step beside him when he put the blanket around the 2 of them and took a quick sip. Grell felt himself blushing again at such a kind gesture. What had gotten into William lately? What had he done to deserve this? He thought as he looked over at the man sitting next to him as he absentmindedly pulled the end of the blanket around him more. He knew that the man had a soft side underneath that cold professional exterior of his. He just didn't know how long it would take to break it. William looked over and noticed that Grell was looking over at him with a sincerely happy look on his face. It was different than that flamboyant, flirty smirk that Grell usually showed him at work. He then noticed that Grell hadn't taken a drink from the mug yet. Did he think that he had poisoned it or something?
William: I didn't poison your drink you know.
He said as he took a sip from his own glass and a slight smirk began to form on his lips. His comment made Grell's cheeks turn pink as he looked down at the mug which he had clutched tightly in his small feminine like hands. Grell hadn't even realized that he hadn't tried it yet. He knew it would be good since William made it but he couldn't help wondering what it was. It didn't look like any kind of tea he'd seen before. And that was all he had ever seen William drink, other than water that is.
Grell: What is it?
William: Hot chocolate, with peppermint. I know how much you like peppermint with your hot chocolate. And well, pretty much anything.
He said shyly as he felt his cheeks redden slightly but it quickly went away. Grell's eyes widened at William's answer. How did he know that he liked his hot chocolate with peppermint in it? Was he really that observant? That meant that he did pay attention. This sparked a smile on the red head's face which made William's heart rate increase slightly. William had never seen such a sincere smile on the red head's face before. Grell brought the mug to his face and took a sniff. The smell of chocolate and peppermint filled his senses and he let out a sigh as he tipped the mug towards his lips and took a sip, being careful to not burn himself on the warm liquid. It felt nice as it went down his throat, effectively warming him up from the inside out. He let out a soft moan as the taste of chocolate and peppermint lingered momentarily on his tongue.
Grell: It's wonderful Will. But how did you know that I like peppermint in my hot chocolate?
He questioned and William just smiled wider as he blushed slightly for the second time that evening which caught Grell off guard. He'd never seen William blush before. William cursed himself inwardly for letting Grell unknowingly know that whenever he could he'd sneak glances his way to see what he was doing. At first he thought it was just to reassure himself that Grell wasn't destroying anything or was touching his things but found that he'd been doing it a lot now. More than he used to anyways. Without any reason whatsoever.
William: Isn't it customary to offer the lady a hot drink when they're feeling down?
He answered his question with another question but Grell didn't really notice to his relief. Grell was more focused on the fact that William, his William, had just acknowledged the fact that he thought he was a lady. It was all he ever wanted and it made his smile widen at the fact. William had never even respected the fact that he thought of himself as a lady and figured he should be treated like one. If anything, he discouraged it whenever he got the chance and it was starting to take it's toll on Grell's self esteem.
Grell: You think I'm- You think of me as a lady?
He said softly and his eyes widened as he stared at William with a slightly shocked expression on his face. William stared into the eyes that were so much like his own yet different in their own special way and he paused for a minute, deciding what would be the best thing to say to that so that he didn't sound like a fool.
William: You want me to be honest?
He questioned and Grell just nodded quickly not realizing that by letting him be honest he could not only boost his self esteem but it could also bring him down too, depending on what he said. William took a breath and began to choose his words very carefully so as not to insult or offend Grell in any way.
William: Well, how could you not be? Your hair is longer than any man's I've ever seen, you have very feminine features, a very feminine figure and you wear heels better than any man or lady that I've ever met for that matter. Plus you have a voice like a siren... And, I never said that I thought you weren't a lady. I just said that it was odd...
He complimented and he surprisingly felt good at finally being able to be honest with his co-worker. He watched as Grell's face lit up at his last comment and his eyes sparkled as what looked like tears filled his eyes. He gulped slightly at the thought that he'd said something wrong but wasn't able to think about that as Grell quickly linked their arms and leaned into his side, taking him by surprise causing him to almost spill his drink.
Grell: Oh William. No one's ever said anything like that to me before.
He said truthfully as he rested his head on William's shoulder and expected Will to tell him to let go of him but the request never came so he decided to enjoy the moment since he probably wouldn't get another one like this.
William: Doesn't Ronald say that kind of stuff to you all the time?
He said with confusion clearly showing on his face and in his voice. All the time and pretty much every time he saw the 2 of them together he could hear Ronald complimenting the red head with Grell muttering simple nothings back at him as his cheeks would redden and he'd become all flustered. Grell lifted his head off William's shoulder as he looked up into the face of his boss before looking down at his lap as he took another quick sip from his mug.
Grell: Yes he does, but that's Ronnie. He only says that to make me feel good about myself. He doesn't actually believe it himself. Don't tell him I said that though. His compliments get me through the day. But you, I know that you mean what you say.
He looked up at his boss and he let out a soft sigh as he rested his head on his boss's shoulder again letting his tears of gratitude shine through for the first time that night. He opened his eyes suddenly as the arm he had been holding was pulled out his grasp and he flinched slightly at the thought that William was gonna hit him for his actions but instead William wrapped his arm around his waist which shocked the red head. It was normally him that made moves like that, not William. He was starting to like this side of Will he thought to himself as his heart rate increased slightly. Grell looked up to see William looking down at him. William smiled down at Grell as he held out his own mug towards him and Grell let out a soft laugh as he clinked his mug against William's. They both took another drink from their now warm, slightly on the cooler side hot chocolate and they both smiled at each other. Grell watched as William's smile turned into a slight frown as he looked over at him. He pushed up his spectacles out of habit and Grell watched as he opened his mouth to say something but seemed to be having trouble saying what he wanted to say.
William: Grell, I-I wanted to ask you something.
He said nervously as he looked away from the red head, avoiding eye contact. He needed to ask this, he'd regret it if he didn't, yet he dreaded the answer he might receive since he was pretty sure he already knew the answer.
Grell: Ask away.
He said casually as he took another sip from his mug. He felt that now was the perfect time to be honest. To say anything that needed to be said. He could tell that Will was a bit nervous and it interested him to hear what he was gonna say. He'd never seen William act so nervous before. He was normally so composed.
William: W-Why were you out here in the first place? Why didn't you just come inside? It wasn't because of what happened at work today was it?
He said shyly and Grell could almost hear the concern and guilt in his boss's voice. So he was worried about him, Grell thought. He looked into his boss's eyes which were so much like his own yet so different and he half smiled at him. It was indeed his fault but he wasn't gonna downright say that to his face. Yes he'd like to show him how it feels to be insulted right to your face but decided against it. Just because William was mean to him didn't mean that he should be mean back. It gave him a right to fight back but figured that, that wasn't the right thing to do. And it definitely wasn't the right time. Doing so might make their moment end and he didn't want that.
Grell: Well, after work I came here and had a quick snack. You did cut my lunch break in half remember? And I didn't get a chance to eat much during the day, since you caught me when I tried to make a snack run. After I ate I decided that I'd go on a small walk to clear my head. I kinda forgot my coat inside...
He added the last part and frowned to himself as he glanced back at the door. William just smirked and let out a soft chuckle. He knew that Grell wouldn't go far without his coat. He was surprised he forgot it in the first place.
William: I noticed.
Grell: Anyways, when I came back I saw that the lights were on and I figured that you were home. I didn't come inside right away because I didn't want to bother you since I knew that you were probably still mad at me for slacking off. And I didn't want to fight with you. Not again... So yes, you could say that it was because of what happened at work and I really am sorry. I shouldn't have bothered you so much, I knew you were busy but I was just so bored and I thought one little visit wouldn't hurt.
Grell looked over at William with a slightly sad expression forming on his usually happy face. He hated fighting with Will and it hurt him more than Will knew. William felt another wave of guilt flow through him as Grell explained why he was outside in the first place. So it had been his fault. He knew that he had taken things a bit too far at work and he wished he could take it back but what was done, was done and in the past. It was now that he thought about it that he realized something. He cared for the red head more than he originally thought. More than he planned actually. He found his everyday distractions entertaining even though he acted like he hated them. It was something new everyday with him. Never the same approach twice. And recently he found that he anticipated them. He anxiously waited for the surprise of what would happen the next day. He liked to see what the red head would come up with. He found the days where Grell didn't visit him at all very dull and boring and he almost wished that the red head would suddenly burst into his office and try to flirt with him. He wouldn't tell Grell this of course since it would just make the matter worse. Then he wouldn't get any of his paperwork done.
William: Grell, I hate fighting with you. I need you to know that. There's just times when I get so caught up at work that I forget about your feelings and how the things I say affect you and I hate myself afterwards. That's who you are and I can't change that. I just need to learn to accept it. I'm sorry. I really am.
He said sincerely as he watched for Grell's reaction. Grell smiled slightly before it went away and was replaced with a slight frown but he could see the gratitude and appreciation in the red head's eyes.
Grell: It's ok. I'm sorry too, for being such a pain in the ass that is. And you need to stop being a pain in the head. That death scythe of yours does more harm than good.
He said as he rubbed his head lightly with a slight smile on his face and William just blushed slightly as he thought about all the times he had hit Grell over the head with his death scythe. They both smiled at each other and Grell pulled Will into a side hug as he wrapped his arm around his boss's waist. Grell rested his head on William's shoulder and William let his head lean on top of Grell's as they shared their moment. It seemed that they were both learning a little bit more about each other each day.
William: Grell, I need you to know that I appreciate everything you do for me. All the small things like buying me tea, making me tea even when you know it'll taste horrible, which includes here and at work. I've never even thanked you for any of it and I feel like such a jerk for not realizing till now.
Grell: It's alright Will. It's nothing to worry about. I do it because I care about you and so you know that I'm here for you. I don't expect a thank you.
William stared at Grell with a slightly shocked look on his face. He was surprised at how small Grell was making this out to be. When in reality this was a big deal to him. He had never shown the younger reaper any sign of respect or gratitude and here he was shrugging it off like it was nothing. William wouldn't accept that.
William: You should expect a thank you. Another thing, you took care of me when I was sick and I'm grateful. No one other than you would have put so much time and effort into making sure I was okay. I wouldn't have gotten better as quick as I did if you hadn't helped me. I've never said this before, but you're a really nice person when you want to be and I'm glad to have someone like you who I know has my back. I wouldn't want a better friend.
Grell felt his heart swell at William's kind words and he felt his face redden as well. He could tell that he was being sincere and in the back of his mind he couldn't believe that they were having such a civil conversation. Here William was, expressing his thanks and appreciation for him and Grell couldn't be any happier.
Grell: Oh William. You're my best friend in the world. Even though we fight I know that if I'm ever in any kind of trouble you'd be there for me even when you say you hate me all the time. I've got your back because I care about you deeply and would feel horrible if you ever got hurt. Especially if it was because of me.
They both looked at each other and for the first time ever he could see tears forming in William's eyes but he quickly blinked them away. After so long William finally recognized what the feeling in his gut was. That feeling that swelled in him whenever he was around Grell. Whenever Grell tried to flirt with him. Whenever Grell tried to cheer him up. It wasn't hate or annoyance, like he first thought. It was the total opposite. He never had anyone that cared for him as much as Grell did and he figured it was time to return the favor.
William: Grell, I-
But as easy as he thought them he found that he couldn't get out those 3 simple words that he wanted to say. He never had this kind of problem before. This seemed so easy, yet now that it was his turn to say it he realized just how hard it really was. He had never been in this position before since he had never found someone that returned his feelings. He stared into Grell's eyes and found that his voice didn't want to work.
Grell: Yes Will?
William shut his mouth and watched as Grell leaned in closer a bit with a curious look crossing the red head's face. Not close enough to cause discomfort but enough so he could see the lust filled look in the red haired reaper's eyes. Now that he could see it this closely he could tell that it wasn't just lust but love. He couldn't take it anymore. He decided to finally take the chance as he leaned in and pressed his lips softly against Grell's. He set down his mug and placed his free hand lightly on Grell's cheek as he took in the feeling of Grell's smooth, soft lips against his and he gripped Grell's waist tightly with his other hand. He welcomed the soft feeling and he could almost taste the hot chocolate that lingered on Grell's lips. Grell's eyes widened slightly as William closed the space between them and actually kissed him. He had been waiting for this moment all his life and now, after many years of waiting, it was finally happening. He melted into the kiss and placed his free hand on William's cheek, enjoying the feeling. The kiss was soft and slow. Neither trying to rush into things they weren't prepared for. They pulled away moments later and a slight blush covered both their cheeks. William was surprised that he had actually done that but he didn't regret it. Grell smiled at his boss and kissed his cheek lightly which made William blush even more.
Grell: I love you too.
He mumbled sincerely into William's ear before he pulled back and William smiled at him with a flustered look on his face. A sudden chill went down William's spine and he shivered slightly. He figured it was a good time as any to go back inside. William stood up and held out a hand for Grell to take. Grell took it and William gently helped him to his feet.
William: Come on. Let's get you inside and get you warmed up.
William wrapped the blanket fully around Grell's shoulders and them wrapped his arm around Grell's thin waist. The 2 almost empty mugs still sat on the steps completely forgotten. It was then that Grell realized something as he let William guide him into their flat. It was these precious once in a lifetime moments that kept him from moving in with someone else. And he knew that as him and William curled up on the couch by the blazing fireplace, things were gonna change between the 2 of them.
And they both knew that it was gonna be a change for the better.
