Ben groaned, slumping down in a chair in Vanya's room. He was exhausted from the non-stop training Dad put them up to for the past three days. He was also horrified at how hungry the Horror seemed to be for blood. He didn't want to think about that, though. If he did, he'd probably throw up again. (His stomach was already growing queasy at the thought.)
Near him, Five had plopped down face first on Vanya's bed. He'd been so tired that he hadn't even blinked into the room. At least Ben didn't think he did, since he didn't think he saw a flash of blue. He could only imagine what Five had been tasked to do.
With individual training, the others never really knew what their siblings were doing. If someone came out with a few cuts and bruises, no one commented on it. If someone came out shaking, or just crashed on the couch, or ran into the bathroom to throw up, no one commented on it, either. It was normal to be at least a little beaten up after hard training like they'd had in recent days.
"Ben?" Vanya asked, looking at him expectedly, concern lining the features of her face. "Five?" Five only groaned in response.
Ben blinked at Vanya. Had she said something? "Er, sorry. Can you repeat that?"
"Do you want me to bring you guys water or something? Or do you want me to play?"
Well, Ben definitely didn't want to eat anything for a while. But Vanya's playing had improved a lot over the past few months, and it was always soothing. He wasn't sure what it was, but the music calmed him down. Maybe it was because she played the softer pieces, the ones that didn't really make you feel anything but serene.
"Can you play for us?" He asked. Vanya nodded with a smile. Five turned his head to face them, nodding weakly to agree that that was a good idea. His eyes were already drooping closed.
Ben absentmindedly wondered how many times he'd had to blink around. Knowing Five, it was probably too many than was healthy. He had a knack for overworking himself. Something about needing to perfect the spacial jump so he could focus on time travel.
As Vanya played, Ben allowed himself to relax, closing his eyes. It had been a long day, but now he could finally let sleep overtake him. With one last fleeting thought about how much he loved being with his siblings, Ben drifted into a peaceful, dreamless sleep.
