Work Text:
Tommy was currently sitting in the back garden, waiting for his big brother Wilbur. It had taken him absolutely ages, but he’d finally managed to set up a picnic for them both.
It had taken his brother a while, but soon, the brown-haired brother appeared.
“... What’s this?”
He thought his big brother was smarter than that, apparently not. “It’s a picnic, duh!”. Wilbur could only roll his eyes at the stupid response.
“I clearly know that, did you know I was in the middle of an important school meeting right now?”
“Yeah but I thought-”
Wilbur was pissed, he was annoyed that Tommy interrupted his school meeting for a picnic. “Why would you do this? I told you not to interrupt my school meetings only if there’s an emergency. I don’t know why Techno even got me to come if he knew about this.”
“But Wilbur, this is an emergency!”
“How the hell is a picnic in any shape or form, an emergency?”
…
“Okay, maybe it isn’t an absolute emergency, but you’ve been doing really boring work for a week and I haven’t gotten to see you. I missed you”
“Tommy, you know that meeting was important.” He was sure he was going to lose credit for his disappearance, or at least get disciplined.
“So I’m not important to you…?” Wilbur inhaled.
“You know that’s not what I meant at all.”
“Then what did you mean, Wilbur?”
“I mean that this whole thing is a waste of my time and-”
“Oh, so now I’m a waste of your time too?”
“Then tell me, what did you mean?”
“Tommy, stop it! Quit twisting my words.” He yelled, oh he was pissed. Turning around to head back inside. He’d at least be able to make it to the rest of his meeting.
“Nevermind, I get what you meant…” The youngest mumbled quietly. “Bye Wilbur.”
Wilbur sighed in the distance, making his way back to his room.

Tommy had decided to have an indoor picnic instead. By that, he meant bringing everything he had brought outside, and putting it on the previously empty dining room table. Now it just looked like a pathetic party that nobody showed up to.
He decided Wilbur not showing up wasn’t going to ruin his picnic, putting a few of the snacks he was going to eat into his bag.
Techno, who had watched the whole thing go down only nodded to him. Tommy had tried a similar picnic with him about a week ago, which he had gone to, not wanting to pass down the opportunity of snacks. It was clear his brother just wanted to see Wilbur but knew it would probably be better to just let Tommy leave.
“Be safe, Theseus.”
-
As he made his way through the forest, heading in the direction of the village, he decided to snack on a few of the things he’d brought.
You see, he wasn’t very organized when putting the snacks in, so a few had spilled inside of the back. Gross, yeah? But definitely cleanable. So he ate a few of the grapes while waving to the animals that scurried by.
Kneeling down to the ground, he searched for the little plastic container to find it was open. Gross. He’d putten some pizza slices inside of there, because who would let a pizza go to waste?
Luckily it looked as if no pizza had ruined his bag, so he decided to take a slice for himself.
Mmm. Tasty.
He smiled as he could see the village closer than before. He scratched his neck slightly as he zipped his bag back up. Maybe he’d get some food for later, something everyone could enjoy.
Since he was pretty sure nobody wanted backpack pizza, besides him.
It took him a minute to realize, something tasted a little funny with the pizza. So he inspected the slice he hadn’t eaten.
At the same time he realized what the funny tasting thing was, he’d already swallowed it.
Shit, he knew he should’ve separated them!
He could only gasp in horror as he dropped to the ground with his hands on his throat.
So could Phil as he dropped the groceries he was carrying back from the village.

Wilbur had just gotten back to the meeting and had it resumed when Techno came in. Wilbur groaned and walked up to his twin, “What is it this time Tech?”.
“It’s Tommy” He mumbled when Wilbur heard the voice of Philza mumbling something downstairs.
“Not again, tell him I don’t want to come to his stupid picnic. It’s literally just food from the kitchen on a blanket. I’m in the middle of a meeting.”
“He’s unconscious.”
Wilbur's eyes widened way more open than they were before. “Wait, what? What happened, I just saw him a second ago?”
“He ate some of the spare pizza.”
“Right, and? It’s cheese pizza.”
“That’s what I thought, his backpack had a bunch of snacks thrown in there. Including the trail mix.”
Wilbur gave him a blank look.
“He put our trail mix in his bag, not the one that was made for him. Our one has peanuts in it.”
Shit, right. The fucking peanuts, they knew that was a dumb fucking idea from the start, even keeping nuts in the house. “Is he alright, at least?”
“I don’t think so.” His twin brother's words hit him like a ton of bricks all at once. Without another word to the meeting, he shut off the computer and sprinted down the stairs alongside Techno, who already had the same idea.
Wilbur was sure he didn’t have any allergies he knew about, but something definitely took the breath out of him when he was his little brother lying on his back inhaling sharply as if he’d run ten miles.
Wilbur didn’t know how to feel, he certainly felt more relieved seeing the used epi-pen lying on the ground.
Blue to the thy, orange to the sky. He repeated in his head.
“You’re alright, mate,” Phil stressed, it wasn’t any fun when he had to do this. He was thankful though, that he had been coming back with the groceries at that exact moment. He wasn’t too sure what would’ve happened if he put off getting the food until tomorrow.
It was still scary as shit since Phil hadn’t brought an epi-pen with him when he had gone out, he knew he was meant to, but Tommy hadn’t been with him. Hell, it was even scarier when Philza had realized his son wasn’t carrying one either.
Techno was practically mortified , seeing Phil home so quickly, holding Tommy who looked very much as if he was on the verge of death.
Not quite literally, but his face was extremely red, not because he was angry, or he had been crying. Techno knew what had happened.
So that’s where they were now.
As Wilbur continued to stare at the used epi-pen discarded on the floor, Techno spoke from across the room.
“God damn it, Tommy. The one thing I literally told you was to be safe.” He sighed. A little spooked when he got a response.
“S’rry, thought it was my trail m’x. Didn’t know the bag w’s open either..”
“Nah, Mate. Don’t apologize, I didn’t label the bags, which is dumb because they’re one of the only things with nuts in it.”
“-Besides the peanut butter” Techno cut it, trying to make the room a little less stressful.
“Still, Tommy. You need to bring your pen with you, even if It’s just the forest.”
The child only sighed, “You’re right. Sorry.”
“You’re all good, want some tea mate?” He got a nod. Phil turned to the twins, “What about you boys?”
“Yeah.”
“Sure..”
Tommy pushed himself up on the couch, so he wasn’t lying down anymore. He slightly scratched at his neck before getting a light slap on his hand. “Hey !”
“Quit scratching, It’ll make it itch more.”
“Shut up Techno, It’s not like It’s chickenpox, and it’s really uncomfortable.” He mumbled, resuming itching his neck.
They continued this conversation for a few more minutes until Philza returned with the tea.
“Here you go, boys.” He handed them each a cup, one was left, for himself. As they sat down on the couch. Phil put the television on and made some small talk.
“Do you guys like the tea?”
“My mouth itches” Tommy mumbled, Techno giving a snort at that.
“Yeah, eating something you’re allergic to will probably do that.”
“Techno, in my defense, I thought it was a perfectly fine pizza.”
“Theseus, you put a pizza in a backpack. You almost deserved it just for that.” He joked, but a small bonk on the head from Phil made him speak up again. “Not actually though.”
Wilbur had decided to leave pretty quickly, thanking Phil for the tea and returning upstairs.
“What’s with Will?” He questioned, puzzled at the whole interaction. Or well, no interaction.
“He’s got an important school meeting thing, I bothered him so I think he’s mad.” He mumbled, trying to stare back at the television to avoid talking about this further.
Phil glanced at Techno, who met his eyes. He could only give a helpless shrug. As he decided he wouldn’t be a part of whatever was going on, making his way upstairs to head to his room.
Phil decided to intervene.
“Naw, I doubt Wilbur’s mad at you. He’d probably just a little upset, that’s all.” He didn’t exactly know what had gone down. But by the way, his twins were acting, it wasn’t pretty.
“No, he said I was a waste of his time and I wasn’t important.”
“Did he actually though, Tommy?” The elder questioned.
“Well… No… but he implied I was.” He muttered as he rested his head on his knees, with the tea carefully on the table.
“What happened, Mate?” He might as well ask.
“I made a picnic for me and Will, I interrupted his meeting and he got mad… I went to go have a picnic by myself in the forest, but I followed the village path. I just wanted a snack but I didn’t know that would happen… I just don’t want Wilbur to be mad at me, you know…?”
Dadza nodded.
“Why don’t you go upstairs and talk to him, I’m telling you Tom’s, I know my sons. He’s just worried, that’s all. Go speak to him, okay?” He actually listened to his dad’s advice as he made his way up the stairs.
Phil smiled as he sipped on his tea.

Wilbur knew what was happening as soon as he heard the little patter of footprints in the hallway, bracing himself for what was coming.
Soon after the sound started, he heard his door creak open, followed by his blonde-haired baby brother in his doorway.
He noted that Tommy hadn’t actually entered his room yet, unlike how he usually did.
“Hey, Tom’s.” Tom’s.
He relaxed a bit, hearing the nickname.
He still didn’t want to go inside.
“...”
“... Wilbur are you mad at me…?”
. . .
“Come here, Tommy.” He patted the spot beside him on the bed. Motioning for him to sit down beside him.
So he did.
Wilbur noted how his little brother was very keen on not making eye contact with him. He was internally questioning if he was upset with him. Which, yeah… Pretty obvious, but it kind of zoned in on him that he hadn’t answered the question.
“Of course I’m not mad at you. I was a little upset that you interrupted my meeting, sure. But I could never be mad at you for long. I acted like a bit of a dick earlier, didn’t I? I’m sorry for not coming to your picnic.”
“I’m sorry too, I knew that your meeting call was important. I shouldn’t have gotten Techno to get you.”
“Want to have another picnic soon?”
“Only if there’s no pizza.”
“Got it, no trail mix either, ay?”
Tommy only groaned as he leaned his head against his older brother.
“... Yeah, I’d like that.”
