Work Text:

Being the youngest son of the prestigious Tsukishima family has it’s ups and downs. Kei grew up with a golden spoon and he always gets what he wants, but it also means that he has to act a certain way to keep the image of their family proper and clean.

But you see, Tsukishima Kei is trouble. He is everything else too; beauty and brains, sharp tongue and wit, but he is definitely trouble. He likes to do whatever he deems fun, only as long as it’s still fun, and he absolutely hates being told what to do.

His bodyguards come and go, not a single one lasting for more than a week — until his dad hires Kuroo Tetsurou. Charming, confident and always professional, Kuroo Tetsurou.

Kei hated how it seems like nothing fazes the raven. No matter how ridiculous he gets or spoiled he acts, Kuroo just takes it all in stride.

Insults and provocative words? Doesn’t affect him. He even have the guts to retort his own insults too. Shopping for hours and going from store to store? Easy. Kuroo would even give his (unsolicited) comments on which clothes he thinks would look best on Kei. Whining about his legs hurting because of too much walking? The bodyguard doesn’t even blink before carrying him princess style out in public, and Kei is so embarrassed that he just hides his face in Kuroo’s wide and toned chest.

And what makes it worst is that his dad loves Kuroo because he’s the only one who managed to stay and not quit the job for longer than a week (“despite my son being difficult”, in his words). And it’s driving the blond insane.

“Kei,” his best friend Akaashi Keiji says over the phone, “We miss you, we never see you anymore! You’re not in parties or any of our hangouts.”

“I know,” Kei slumps on his queen sized bed, burrowing his face on his soft pillows, “We should have a wine and cheese night soon. I’m so bored.”

“Tooru’s having a party right now, you should come. Your boys are looking for you.”

“It’s pass eleven already, you know I have a curfew.”

Keiji laughs, “What? That stupid curfew that your new hot bodyguard imposed on you?”

The blond just pouts, wanting to argue but doesn’t know what to say. What can he say? It’s all true anyway.

“Don’t tell me that the great spoiled baby Kei has changed? Since when have you listened to what anyone tells you to do? Much more your bodyguards?”

At the back of his mind, Kei knew that his best friend is provoking him but he couldn’t help but bite. “Of course I don’t listen to what that stupid rooster tells me!”

“Really? Then why don’t you come here at Tooru’s party? We’re having so much fun and you’re missing out Kei. Sachirou’s here too and he even asked us about you.”

“Fuck,” Kei curses and sits up. He’s had the biggest crush on Sachirou for the longest time, and things are finally starting to happen between them, albeit really slowly.

But lately, he hasn’t been thinking about Sachirou that much, or if he’s being honest, at all. He’s not sure if he just got tired of the push and pull and got over his crush, or maybe because he’s been too busy being pissed with his stupid bodyguard and his stupid dazzling smile and equally stupid irritating personality.

Yet, at the same time, he isn’t just going to sit here and let his best friend get to the same conclusion. He isn’t ready for that conversation, and if Keiji finds out that he (maybe) have the hots for his bodyguard, it is going to be a conversation.

“Wait for me, I’m coming.”

Kei can practically see Keiji smirking, “See you Kei.”

After a quick shower and dressing up, Kei heads to the balcony of his room as quietly as he can. There’s a wide ledge just on the side of his balcony that he had used multiple times to sneak out, connecting to the roof of the entrance hallway of their mansion, where he can safely jump to get to the ground.

It’s all muscle memory by now, how Kei gracefully throws his long legs over the balcony railing to get to the ledge while holding onto the metal window panel of his room. He’s done this countless times without a single scratch, but then a loud voice cries out from below and almost makes his hands slip due to his shock.

“Tsukishima Kei!” It’s Kuroo, and Kei has never heard the bodyguard’s voice like that. Like he’s scared and angry and so helpless all at the same time.

Kei doesn’t know if he should go back to his room or just continue his descent.

“Shh! Keep quiet, my dad’s gonna hear you!”

“That’s your concern!? What the hell are you even doing!? Get down from there!”

“I’m trying! But shut the fuck up!”

“Wait, no, stay there! I’m coming up your room to get you!”

“No!” Kei, deciding that continuing down would be a better move so his bodyguard wouldn’t have the chance to tip off his dad, shuffles quickly towards the low roof.

“Kei! What the fuck!” Kuroo was full on panicking, walking right below where Kei is with his arms up, ready to catch him if he falls.

Adrenaline buzzes through Kei’s veins, from being caught trying to sneak out or from Kuroo’s reaction, he isn’t sure, but he’s having so much fun that a wide smile is plastered on his face.

“Kei, I swear to God if you fall down from there!”

“I won’t fall!”

“You don’t know that!”

“Of course I do!” Kei is full on giggling now, hopping on the roof and crouching down so he wouldn’t have to speak too loudly. “I’ve done this so many times by now.”

“So you always sneak off like this? I should tell your dad to put a high barrier on your balcony!”

“You wouldn’t.”

“Oh, I would.” The threat is clear in his voice, but it only makes Kei smile even more. He’d never seen so much emotions from his bodyguard like this before.

“You wouldn’t!”

Kuroo huffs and glares up at him, “Just get down from there!”

“Only if you promise not to tell my dad.”

“No!”

“No?” Kei tilts his head and smirks, “Then maybe I should just stay here all night. You know our house is quite old right? It’s been ages since we got this roof changed. Maybe it’s brittle now. What if it doesn’t hold my weight properly? What if I suddenly lose my balance and slips? What if—“

“Fine, fine! I wouldn’t!” Kuroo says, giving up. “Just get down now.”

“You promise?” He blinks down at the raven prettily.

The bodyguard clenches his jaw, obviously trying to reign in his patience, and stiffly says, “I promise I won’t tell your dad. Now can you please come down from there, Tsukishima?”

“Hm, since you’re begging…”

Kei stands up and jumps. It’s a low drop —and with Kei’s height it really is a piece of cake— but still, Kuroo catches him and they fall backwards with Kei safely tucked in Kuroo’s embrace.

The blond can feel Kuroo’s heart beating wildly in the chest where one side of his cheek is resting.

“Are you okay?” The bodyguard asks beneath him, and this close the worry is so evident in the raven’s eyes.

“I’m fine.” He assures, borderline petulantly.

Kuroo lets out a relieved sigh and suddenly wraps his arms around Kei’s slim frame. “You scared me.”

It’s a good thing that the blond’s face is hidden under Kuroo’s arms, this way he wouldn’t see Kei blushing furiously.

“Shut up. I’m taller than you, I would have been fine. You’re just overreacting.”

“Don’t ever scare me like that again, okay?”

Kei detangles himself from Kuroo’s embrace, his hands planted on either side of the raven’s face while he looks down at him, and he wants to ask, What do you mean? You always say stuff like this so easily and I hate that it makes me feel things, but I can never tell if I should read into it. Are you worried about me just because it’s your job or… does your words hold a deeper meaning?

He sighs; it’s a never ending cycle, thinking like this. And it’s all pointless anyway because he’s never going to ask these questions, and Kuroo (based on the limited knowledge that he has on the bodyguard) would never answer them.

So he just smiles down at him, “You know I can’t promise you that.”

They stare at each other; and when it gets too much for Kei, he hurriedly stands up, says “I’ll see you later then.” and then sprints towards his car.

“Wha—!? Tsukishima Kei!” Kuroo shouts behind him indignantly, then he hears heavy footsteps running after him. And curse their big front lawn and the raven’s long legs because he’s back in Kuroo’s arms in seconds.

“Where are you going? It’s pass your curfew.” Kuroo pants behind him and the sound and the hot breath hitting his nape is stirring his insides.

“Let go! I’m going to a friend’s party! And I’m too old to still have a curfew! Even my parents didn’t give me one when I was still studying!”

“But your dad approved it so easily when I pitched the idea to him. Seems like he agrees that you needs it, and this just proves that, doesn’t it firefly?”

Kei grits his teeth. There he goes again. Why! Why give him such a cute nickname? What does it mean!?

Before he can even think too much about it, Kuroo turns him around, throws him over his broad shoulder and starts carrying him back to the house.

“What the f— wait, put me down! I wanna go to Tooru’s party!”

“Aren’t your grandparents coming over for a lunch family gathering tomorrow? You shouldn’t stay out late.”

“It’s not like I’m not coming back! Just—put me down Kuroo!”

“No.”

Kei tries to wiggle himself free, but Kuroo’s grip on the back of his thighs are strong, and even the punches he’s throwing on the older man’s back does nothing.

So he uses one of his secret weapons into getting what he wants instead. “Kuroo, please? I really wanna go. My friends are waiting for me and I haven’t seen them for so long. And— and I’ve been really good lately haven’t I?”

Hearing his pleading voice, Kuroo suddenly stills, and his grip loosens enough for Kei to wriggle free from his hold. The blond takes the opportunity to drop on the ground. He then, pouts at Kuroo and gives him the puppy eyes. “Please? I’ve been such a good boy.”

This technique has always worked in Kei’s favor, but he hadn’t expected the effect it would have on the raven. Kuroo’s face is deep red and his eyes are wide and even a little glassy. When he speaks again, his voice is low and raspy. “Fine… since you’re asking so nicely for once.”

One side of Kei’s lips lifts slowly as everything clicks in his mind. Gotcha.

“But I’m coming with you.”

The smirk falls away just as quickly as it appears. “Why!?”

“I am your bodyguard after all, and if I let you go out alone then what kind of bodyguard would I be?”

“I don’t need a bodyguard at a party! What the fuck, Kuroo, I’m not a child!”

“Either I’m coming with or you’re not going at all, your choice firefly.” Kuroo leers at him.

Kei huffs and crosses his arms over his chest, “Fine.”

“And we’re going home when I say so.”

“Whatever,” The blond rolls his eyes and starts stomping towards his car, “Just so you know, I’m getting drunk tonight and you’re taking care of me.”

(Behind him, whispered so quietly for Kei to hear, Kuroo says, “I’ll always take care of you.”)

The party is on full swing when Kei and Kuroo arrives at Oikawa Tooru’s family mansion. Endless expensive cars parked outside while the inside is packed with bodies and faces that Kei couldn’t even recognize.

Kuroo stays close, his wide hands resting protectively on Kei’s waist as they navigate through the crowded living room. For a second, Kei allows himself to imagine what they look like from a stranger’s point of view. Do they look like lovers, or is it obvious that the dark haired man is just doing his job?

It’s less crowded when they reach the game room, where only their inner circle of friends is allowed. (It’s still a bit crowded though, just not as much as the main living room.). Tooru, Mika and Yukie quickly runs towards him, squealing while wrapping him in a hug, and when they let him go, Keiji places a kiss on his cheek.

“Can’t believe you actually came. But I see you invited your bodyguard too.” Keiji whispers to him, eyeing Kuroo who’s standing a couple of steps behind them, looking just like another party goer.

“I didn’t invite him. I got caught sneaking out so he just came with.” He whispers back.

His best friend doesn’t say anything else, just gives him this knowing look and chuckles. Still, it’s very telling that Kei couldn’t help but snap “Shut up!” at him.

Tooru hands him a glass of alcohol, and as soon as he empties it, a new glass is already being offered to him. Kei lost count of all the shots he’d taken, he just downs them all as his friends try to catch him up with all the things that he missed; and all the while Kei can feel Kuroo’s eyes on him.

He’d never brought any of his past bodyguards in the parties that his friends throws, so he isn’t really sure what to do with the bedhead. Looking at him, Kuroo seems content to just stand by the wall to keep watch of him and occasionally observe his surroundings. But surely he must be bored.

Kuroo is only a couple of years older than them, and with his personality Kei is sure that it’ll be all too easy for him to fit in this crowd. Kei knows that it hasn’t been that long since they arrived, but he didn’t want to see the raven alone and just waiting there for him.

So he decides to do something he normally wouldn’t do.

But just as he was about to stand up to head over where his bodyguard is waiting, he sees a petite girl beat him to it. She smiles cutely and offers Kuroo a bottle of beer, which Kuroo declines with a polite smile. The girl seems disappointed, but not enough to leave his bodyguard alone. Instead she stands next to him and starts making conversation.

Something inside of Kei boils, and he grits his teeth as he watches them. He wants to know what they’re talking about, wants to push away the girl and pull Kuroo to him, wants to tell everyone that Kuroo is his and his alone.

He would have done it too, if not for the stupid smile that’s still on Kuroo’s lips as he talks with the girl. Kei can feel his nails sinking in his palms, Kuroo has never smiled that long at me before.

“Kei, what’s wrong?” He hears Yukie ask.

“Are you going somewhere? The restroom’s that way, you know.” Tooru adds.

“What are you even glaring at?” Mika says as she stands on her tiptoes next to him, trying to get a glimpse of whatever it is that their friend is so focused on.

“Ah,” Keiji says on his other side, resting his chin on Kei’s shoulder, “I think someone’s jealous.”

Kei snaps his shoulder back, leaving Keiji’s chin hanging. “I’m not jealous.”

“Honey, I never said it was you but if you’re gonna own up to it…” Keiji just smiles at him innocently, “I meant Sachirou by the way. You haven’t given him any of your attention all night cause you’re too busy eyeing your bodyguard.”

“But I gotta say, your bodyguard is a real eye candy Kei-chan.” Tooru swoons.

“Don’t even think about it Tooru, or I’m telling Iwaizumi that you’ve been flirting around while he’s away in Cali.”

“Okay, no need to be feisty now. I know just what you need.” Keiji guides him back to the sofa and hands him another drink. “Wanna do an experiment with me?”

“Jiji, you’re scary when you get like this.” Yukie says, but she looks just as excited as the rest of their friends.

Keiji scans his emerald eyes around the game room, and then signals to someone to approach. Kei wasn’t really paying attention, his mind still reeling from what he saw just moments ago.

Until a pair of shoes stops in front of him, and when he looks up he sees Sachirou beaming at him. This same kind and open smile used to make him giddy, used to send the butterflies in his stomach into a frenzy, but now he just feels… nothing.

And that was all it took, the last piece of the puzzle. That’s all the confirmation he needed.

Kei looks at Keiji, who’s watching his expression like an owl, and wonders if this is what he really wanted to experiment on in the first place. But something about his friend’s face says that he isn’t satisfied yet.

“Kei, I haven’t seen you in a while.” Sachirou says in leu of greeting, and Mika moves to give him space beside the blond. “How have you been?”

“Just fine.” Now that he realized his real feelings, he can’t seem to reciprocate Sachirou’s enthusiasm in making conversation. He doesn’t want to be rude though, plus he’d been openly flirting with the guy for months, it would be weird if he suddenly just ignored him.

“Why haven’t you been replying to my messages?”

Kei is a lot of things, but heartless isn’t one of them, despite how he acts towards the people around him. So when he hears the sadness and uncertainty in Sachirou’s voice, he feels guilty.

“I’ve just been busy. My dad’s planning on opening a museum and he wants me to handle it for him. He already has some artists that he wants to feature, but we’re still far from being done. We haven’t even really started anything yet.” He sips his cocktail awkwardly.

He knew that he was rambling, but he couldn’t help it. The guilt is somehow making him feel nervous around Sachirou, and he tends to ramble whenever he’s nervous.

The other man doesn’t seem to notice anything different though. If anything, he seems pleased that the usually quiet and reserved Kei is talking and sharing so much. And unfortunately, he interprets it like it’s a good thing and proceeds to move closer to Kei and drapes his arms on the blond’s shoulder.

Kei stiffens. It’s not like this is the first time this happened, and this is how things usually are between the two of them —Sachirou’s arms around his shoulders or waist, a hand on his thigh, or that one time the brunette did a body shot on his collarbone— but it’s just different now, and Kei needs to tell Sachirou about it before…

The arm resting on Kei’s shoulder suddenly vanishes, and behind them stands Kuroo, hands still gripping Sachirou’s wrist and a really intimidating aura.

That. Before that. Though obviously it’s too late now.

“Ow! What the fuck, man!?” Sachirou protests as he pulls his wrist free.

“You’re making Kei feel uncomfortable. Please step away.”

“Wha— uncomfortable? What are you saying? Who even are you?”

They’re all standing now, with the black leather sofa in between them. Kei is starting to panic, and all the alcohol in his system isn’t really helping. He doesn’t know when Kuroo left the girl he was talking to and when he approached them, or how he even knew that Kei was uncomfortable. All he knows that is that something inside him is singing seeing his bodyguard react like this. Sachirou is clearly upset though, but so is Kuroo.

“He’s Kuroo Tetsurou, my bodyguard.” Kei is fully aware that this isn’t the time to be smiling, but he just couldn’t stop himself.

“Bodyguard? Then why is he acting like a jealous boyfriend instead? It’s not like I’m hurting you.”

Kei tries to catch Kuroo’s eyes, but the raven is stubbornly glaring at Sachirou and is completely ignoring him.

“You were clearly making him uncomfortable.” Kuroo repeats.

“Can you not just decided that for him? You’re just his bodyguard.”

Kuroo’s face hardens and he takes an involuntary step back. He doesn’t say anything; but when his eyes finally meets Kei’s, there’s a hint of desperation and pleading in them.

And Kei understands.

“We’re leaving.” He announces, then to Sachirou, “I’m sorry, but I’ll talk to you soon okay? There’s something we need to talk about.”

He bids goodbye to his friends and gives a polite nod to Sachirou —who still looks thoroughly confused and hurt— before pulling Kuroo away.

The raven lets himself be pulled, but as soon as they step outside the mansion, he breaks free from Kei’s hold and walks ahead.

It’s surely way pass midnight, and the cold breeze makes Kei realize just how hot and stuffy it was inside. There’s still a lot of guests, and he has no idea how Kuroo can remember where they parked in this maze of cars. But he must know where they’re going, because he just trudges forward as if he’s trying to escape and Kei can barely keep up in his intoxicated state.

“Kuroo, wait!”

Kuroo doesn’t.

“Kuroo! I said wait for me!”

Under the bright moonlight, Kei can see Kuroo’s hands balled into tight fists and his muscles coiled tight.

Kei stops walking, already appalled with what he’s going to ask. “Are you actually mad right now!?”

Kuroo still doesn’t answer, just continues walking away.

“What did I do again this time!?”

In a snap, Kuroo makes an about turn and strides back to where Kei is, “You should have pushed him away if he was making you feel uncomfortable Kei! I know you like him, but you still shouldn’t let him do whatever he wants just because of that!”

Kei is stunned. What? “It’s not like that! And I don’t like him, we were just talking.”

“Yea, right.” Kuroo scoffs, and it only fuels Kei’s anger.

“You’re one to talk! Weren’t you talking to that small girl too? What, are you gonna tell me that you like her just because of that?”

The raven frowns at him. “How did this became about me?”

“I don’t know!” Kei implodes, pushing Kuroo on his chest in his frustration. “Why are you acting like a jealous boyfriend?”

“Because I am!” Kuroo shouts back, but as soon as the words are out, all his anger and energy seems to dissipate with it. He wipes his face with his hands and whispers, “I am jealous Kei.”

Kei doesn’t waste a second to think. He just grabs the front of Kuroo’s shirt, and the bodyguard closes his eyes, bracing himself for a fist to land on his face, but instead Kei kisses him. And Kuroo swiftly kisses back.

It’s more clashing of lips than a kiss, both of them too eager and greedy for more. Kuroo’s arms finds Kei’s waist and he pulls the younger even closer; when he squeezes Kei’s lower back all the latter can do is gasp in the raven’s mouth, and then a hot and wet tongue invades his own.

Kei looses himself in the kiss. Hypnotized and addicted, and he had never wanted anything more than this.

When they finally break for air, Kei finds himself pressed on the hood of a random car and he can see some people watching them in his periphery, but he couldn’t care less. He’s never been this happy.

“You should’ve just said that from the start.”

“Kei…” Kuroo wets his lower lips, and Kei wonders why he still looks so conflicted. “If you only have any idea how much i have to hold myself back on you.”

“Then don’t.” He pulls him closer, crumpling the material of his dark turtleneck even more in his desperation to keep Kuroo close.

Their faces are only inches apart; Kuroo’s hot breath hitting his face, fogging his glasses and making him even dizzier. When the raven’s dark gaze slips to his mouth, Kei melts and it’s only thanks to Kuroo’s strong hold that he doesn’t fall.

Kei wants to kiss him again. Wants to stay rooted in this spot until the sun rises and just allow himself to savor the rich taste of Kuroo’s lips. Wants, wants, wants.

“If you keep looking at me like that, I might do something  really stupid.” Kuroo’s voice is deep and gruff, and the sound goes straight to Kei’s groin.

“Like what?”

“Like kiss you again.”

“Do it then. Just be stupid for once and do it.”

And who is Kuroo Tetsurou to deny Tsukishima Kei of his wants? (And he wants this too. Since the very first day that he worked for the blond, he’d wanted nothing more than this.) So he leans down again and connects their lips.

The kiss is different this time. It’s slower, less urgent but the desperation is still there. The pure need and hunger for more is intoxicating. Their lips shifting against each other in languid movements as their body molds together more perfectly.

Kei sneaks his hands under the raven’s shirt and burns a line on the toned muscles there with his nails, and Kuroo’s hold on his hips is bruising, but the blond needs more. He moves his hands to Kuroo’s stomach and traces the defined abs, and then goes even lower, but Kuroo quickly stops him.

“Kei… Kei wait. We can’t.” He mumbles breathlessly.

“Hm? You don’t wanna?”

“I— fuck, I do. But we can’t. I’m… I’m just your bodyguard.”

And Kei, spoiled brat Tsukishima Kei who grew up getting anything and everything he wants when he wants, petulantly pushes Kuroo away like he was just denied his favorite candy.

“Is that… do you think I care about that!? Do you think I do this with all my other bodyguards for fun? How can you not see that I actually l—“ He stops short, not even sure what he was going to say.

Kuroo looks pained, but he doesn’t say anything else.

It stings, much more than a slap that he’s never once experienced in his life. “Screw you!”

He walks away before the first line of tears drops.

#

It’s all blurry after that. Kei goes back to his friends distraught and crying, and they console him even when he couldn’t stop the hysterical tears enough to explain what happened.

One of Tooru’s drivers brings him home early the next day, and he expected Kuroo to be waiting there outside his house worried and ready to grovel for his forgiveness. He was going to forgive him, but only after punishing him by ignoring him for at least a week.

Instead his dad informs him of Kuroo’s resignation. Kei isn’t sure what reason Kuroo told his dad, and at that point he didn’t really care because his top priority was to lock himself in his room to cry some more.

The day after that, his new bodyguard arrives. A big energetic man with gravity defying hair and owl blue eyes. Kei wants to hate him, because his presence is just another reminder of what he lost; but only a day together and he knows that it’s impossible to hate Bokuto Koutarou, no matter how loud or ridiculous he might be. (Or maybe it was exactly due of that.)

Still, there was no replacing Kuroo Tetsurou.

A week later and Kei is still far from done being miserable.

He already talked to Sachirou and told him that whatever they had was over now, because he’s already in love with someone else.

Love. That was what he almost said that night. How can you not see that I actually love you already? It’s all clear to him now, how much Kuroo’s constant presence had meant to him. His silent caring, the fun banter, how the raven had seen him as himself and not just some brat that he needs to take care of.

But none of it matters now, because Kuroo is gone.

“I just wanna hear you call me firefly again! I promise I’ll be good, just come back!” He whines loudly in his bed while kicking and throwing his pillows around.

“I can call you firefly if that’s what you want, Tsukki.” Bokuto says. He’s kneeling on the floor, elbows propped on the bed and chin on his palms, just watching Kei throw a tantrum like all of this is normal for him.

Kei wonders, not for the first time, what kind of agency hires these weirdoes as bodyguards and why they keep sending said weirdoes to work for their family.

“I told you not to call me Tsukki.”

Bokuto pouts, even a bigger baby than him, “Fine, young master.”

Kei rolls his eyes at the sarcasm of his new bodyguard, and he hates how it just reminds him of Kuroo again.

“What are you doing here anyway?”

“Your father is looking for you.”

“Why?”

“He said he wanted to introduce you to a suitor.”

Kei groans. “Tell him I’m not interested.”

“But your father—“

“I don’t care! I don’t want a suitor! Leave me alone!” He suddenly shouts, kicking and writhing around his bed again like a five year old.

“Ahh, that’s too bad.” Kei freezes when he hears a new voice. His dad. “I really like this one, though. I think it’s a perfect match.”

Slowly, he turns around, and the first thing he sees is the ridiculous bed hair that he’d missed for so long.

There, standing behind his father, is none other than Kuroo Tetsurou.

Unbidden tears escape him as he springs himself to Kuroo, not caring that his dad is there to see. Kuroo catches him like he weights nothing, enveloping him inside those warm arms and even lifting him above the ground.

“I hate you! Why did you leave me!” He said in between sobs.

“I didn’t leave, firefly. I just want to do things right, so I quit my job and asked your dad permission to be with you properly.”

There he is, the charming, confident and always professional Kuroo Tetsurou that Kei fell in love with.

“Then why didn’t you tell me anything! I— I really thought you didn’t like me too.”

Kuroo shushes him, cupping his face to wipe the tears that wouldn’t seem to stop flowing, “That’s not true, Kei. I promised that I’ll always take care of you, right? And I’m here now to fulfill that. I’ll always take care of you Kei.”

Kei sniffs —his reddish nose and glassy eyes is making Kuroo’s mind drift to different things (but that’s something to be explored later)— and Kuroo wants squish his adorable face.

“Okay. But you’re never allowed to leave my side again, you hear me!?”

Kuroo smooches him, “They’ll have to pry my cold, dead arms away from you.”

“Bro!”

“BRO!!”

“So he’s the blond you keep on talking about in our group chat?”

“Shh!”

“He’s really a brat, isn’t he?”

“Oh, my god Bokuto, shut up!”

“Why? It’s fine, Tsukki’s been whining all week about missing you bro.”

“Oya?”

“… Is it too late return the both of you?”

“Yep! You’re stuck with me forever!”

“AND ME TOO!!!”
