The burn of those we love

Summary:

You shouldn’t tell a story until it’s over, and I’m not sure this one really is. I guess stories never really end, but -if that's the case- do they ever really begin either?

I guess this story starts when we met. I remember it, clear as day. Clambering up the hill, trekking through the long grass...

That was the day I saw her.

I met her on the highest point of air temple island.

Then, my life began to change.

!!Trigger warning!! Only applies to later chapters, but be careful, and happy reading x

I am gifting this work to madveta, whose stories are fabulous (I love them!) and I decided to do something to do with Ikki's emotional journey, a mish-mash of Your Lie in April plus The Tulip Touch and an OC -I love writing OC's, don't ask!!- all rolled into one

*on hiatus for a while*

also, if you are a child, then please do not read this because it gets pretty dark and intense. i'd say, reading the first 7 chapters should be fine :)

Notes:

I recently read a book called The Tulip Touch, and I really liked it (so much so that I made a whole canon divergent AU-ish thing) ad it has elements of Your Lie in April (Japanese anime series)
Enjoy!
Stay safe and keep smiling xx

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Our story begins

Chapter Text

People think I have it perfect; they assume I have nothing to complain about.

That’s where they’re wrong.

See, even I think this from time to time again too.

I shouldn’t complain, should I? Our family survived the war; many did not. I have two parents and three lovely siblings; many do not. I have a family who loves me; many do not, sadly.

But, from time to time again, I knew something was missing from my life.

It was like a void in my heart that I couldn’t fill up, no matter who I had. I knew I was lucky to have a big family: not just Mum and Dad, but Uncle Bumi and Auntie Kya too.

So why did I want something more?

One day, I was meditating with Tenzin and Jinora, when a pillar of realisation slammed into my body: I was lonely. I need something I had never had time to hunger after with the craziness of the wars and terror.

I needed a friend.

So it was up to me to find one.
