As time passed Alec got better. The scar on his neck faded and he started to practice with his bow again. The ordeal would always be with him, but he was getting back to who he had been before.
The Clave had pardoned him when Alec had helped defeat the remaining loyal Circle supporters and helped locate the Mortal Instruments. As co-head with Jace of the New York Institute, Alec dedicated his time to rewriting the Accords to ensure equal rights for all and establish true unity by forming a Council of equals. Jace oversaw the military operations and recruit training.
After a few months Alec had started to feel like maybe he wasn’t intruding on Magnus’ and Jace’s relationship. Maybe he could complete it.
He observed how they all seemed more in sync when together. How they complimented each other. Magnus and Jace were both proud, eager for the spotlight, easy-going but also quick to judge. Alec notiched how his calm focus, his lack of seeking attention and his level-head brought them balance. Maybe it was wishful thinking as he wanted them both but as Alec healed and got better, as he got more successes with his plans to improve equality in the Shadow World…he found himself more and more hopeful that if he told Jace and Magnus he wanted them both, body, heart, and soul…maybe they would want that too. Maybe they would feel not only he but also they, would gain from it.
Having gone back and forth on it for a while Alec decided to go for it one evening. He was still worried and anxious, but he needed to know once and for all if his dreams could ever come true. He had decided to make an effort, a true gesture of love. So, he had decided to cook. For obvious reasons he rarely cooked but he had taken the day off without Jace and Magnus knowing, doing everything the Mundane way, and trying to follow a recipe step by step as if it was a chemical formula. Alec had asked Magnus to portal home with Jace so they arrived at the same time, knowing they would wonder about the request but certain they would do it.
Sure enough, just as Alec was done with his stew and had decked the table, Magnus and Jace entered the kitchen.
“What’s all of this, Alec?” Jace asked confused, giving him a warm look.
“Yes. This looks amazing, darling,” Magnus complimented.
“I wanted to do something nice for the both of you,” Alec told them, smiling affectionately but nervously.
“Alec, you didn’t have to do that,” Jace insisted.
“We're just happy to have you back,” Magnus added.
“Well, I love doing things for you guys so sit down,” Alec told him, waving at two chairs as he put the strew on the table.
“Yes, Sir,” Jace grinned, giving him a mock salute.
“I do love when you get all bossy,” Magnus teased.
Alec playfully rolled his eyes at them, “You two say you love it when I do anything, no matter what.”
“We may be a bit biased but it’s true,” Jace insisted, making Alec blush and smile.
Alec sat down while Magnus poured them all red wine.
“So, I’ve made this recipe from scratch. What do you think?” Alec asked eagerly after he had poured everyone huge portions.
Magnus and Jace both took a bite, fighting to hide a grimace.
“It’s…” Magnus started after swallowing, sharing a look with Jace.
“Interesting,” Jace concluded, giving him a warm smile.
“You like it?” Alec asked eagerly.
Magnus and Jace shared another look and Jace moved his hand, knocking Alec’s knife from the table.
“Ups. Sorry,” Jace said with an apologetic smile.
Alec quickly docked under the table, unaware of the magic Magnus was pouring into his strew.
“No worries,” Alec assured him when he was sitting up again after retrieving his knife.
Now both Magnus and Jace took huge bites.
“It’s great, Alexander,” Magnus said with a smile as he took another bite.
Alec beamed like the sun, looking questioningly at Jace.
“Hmm. Tastes great,” Jace added, smiling.
They ate for a while, talking about their day. Then, after drinking some glasses of red wine Alec found his courage to address the topic he wanted.
“So, I’ve been thinking about something,” Alec started to say, eyeing both men nervously.
“Yes?” Magnus encouraged.
Alec struggled with himself but then finally decided to just say it.
“I love you both,” Alec got out, all at once.
Magnus and Jace just smiled, having heard him say that a lot before.
“We love you too,” Magnus said for the both of them.
Alec sighed; they didn’t get it. He took a deep breath, gathering his courage.
“I love love you both,” Alec clarified, both relieved at finally having admitted it and yet apprehensive and worried for their reaction.
Alec bit his lower lip anxiously just as Jace and Magnus looked stunned. Then they both started to smile happily.
“Good,” Magnus said with a sexy grin.
“What?” Alec asked, surprised yet hopeful.
“I love you and I love Magnus so win-win,” Jace declared fondly.
Alec beamed happily.
“Magnus?” Alec asked hopefully.
“I love you both, one soul in two bodies,” Magnus told him, leaning closer and stealing a quick but affectionate kiss.
“So…like I could have you both?” Alec asked in a small voice, looking from Magnus to Jace and back again.
“Yep,” Jace declared with a grin.
“Very much so, Alexander. We can all have both,” Magnus confirmed, squeezing his nearest hand.
“I love you so much, both of you,” Alec told them emotionally, taking Jace’s hand in his with his free hand, holding them both.
Jace smiled at that and finally….his lips met Alec’s in a warm and passionate kiss for the first time. Alec was still looking dazed and out of it when Magnus claimed his lips next, fulfilling Alec’s dream of truly having both of them.
