Chapter Text
George rolled over to his left side at the shriek of his obnoxious alarm, making a sound that resembled one of a child getting hit in the gut with a baseball.
After fumbling with the screen for an embarrassingly lengthy amount of time, he finally managed to tap the snooze button. His hands immediately reached for the thick comforter he had set upon his bed, grasping the corners and pulling them under his forehead as to hide away from the rays of light that crept in through his sheer curtains. This movement of course, had single-handedly broken his ability to drift peacefully and he quickly found himself restlessly stretching across the bed.
Once finished cracking each side of his back, he flew forward as to sit up, tossing his legs over the side of the bed. He watched the fuzzy vision creep into his sight as he had anticipated due to his quick wake. His hands were placed beside is thighs, bracing for impact and grasping the comforter once more. George knew he should probably get moving and begin editing his next video, but he was fading into an inescapable morning zone.
Per usual, he was knocked out of his daydream to the sound of an incoming discord call. After inspecting his phone screen, he quickly noticed that he'd somehow managed to miss the first two attempts at a call.
Dream (:
pick up sexy (;
George
Oh shut up it's 9 in the morning. Clingy much..
Dream (:
):
George
fine idiot (;
George began calling dream and, per usual, he picked up almost immediately. George yawned, making sure it was excessively audible, while walking over to his setup.
"hello!" dream spoke with more energy than usual.
"many hi's" george said, mocking sapnap's past greeting from his facecam stream.
"good morning. how did you sleep?" dream said after chuckling over the sapnap reference for awhile.
"eh i slept fine. would've been better if you were next to m-" george responded, getting cut off by his own giggles.
"WHAT- it is 9 in the morning! I wasn't ready for bold george!!" dream wheezed.
After laughing for a good few minutes and jokingly flirting back and forth, the two finally calmed their breathing patterns. It was a normal thing for them. In fact, they considered themselves pro's of platonic flirting.
"So what are we doing today mr. wastaken" george said with slight sarcasm over the nickname.
"hmm. idk-OH WAIT! I saw this cool thing on Spotify that lets you like, listen to the same songs with your friends at the same time. Wanna try it out?" he said excitedly, almost surprising himself with the idea.
"sure. let's see what dream listens to in his free time. probably like, what, speed run music?"
"very funny mr hypebeast" Dream shot back.
After about ten minutes of setting up the Spotify session, the two sat in silence trying to line up their favorite songs in queue. George wasn't sure why, but he felt almost nervous. He wanted to impress dream, at least a little, with his music taste. Surprisingly enough, they never really discussed music throughout their years of friendship. It was always a thing of copyright and DMCA regulation, never pleasure.
Dream searched through his songs, throwing in a few here and there. He only placed a few in queue, mainly because he wanted to see what George listened to. Dream's Spotify was public information, but George had only recently switched from Youtube Music to Spotify. what a boomer.. dream thought to himself, plastering a grin across his face.
"you almost ready idiot?" dream confidently said out of nowhere.
"Holy shit- turn your mic down my ears just erupted" george replied, audibly expressing pain.
They both laughed for awhile and Dream joked about what George must've looked like jumping out of his socks at the abrupt sound of Dream's voice.
"anyways, yeah I'm ready. I'll play a slow song because I'm still half asleep. somehow.." george said.
*Marcel by Her's begins playing*
"alright can you hear it?" george interrupted the song.
"yeah shhh" dream said impatiently.
The song wasn't at all what Dream had expected from George. The song that played was soft, yet still piercing. The vocals seemed almost desperate for something. He didn't notice, but Dream starting swaying to the rhythm and smiling contagiously. He couldn't tell if he was just overreacting because it was George's suggestion or not, but he loved the song. It immediately ended up in his liked media section. Playing with his hair as he listened, he wondered how George was reacting. He'd never really felt a desire to have face cam on while talking with him, but for some reason he really wanted to know if he was reacting the same way.
Unknowingly to Dream, George was dancing around his kitchen preparing breakfast. He was bouncing his shoulders and tapping on the counters. A huge smile wrapped around his face, one so genuine it almost felt like he had caught it from someone else. He placed two pieces of toast into his toaster and jumped up to sit on his countertop. The music had reached the section where the guitar trails into a beautiful guitar pattern, repeating the same haunted melody. Still smiling stupidly big, he wondered what Dream was thinking. He almost blushed at the thought of someone enjoying his favorite song. After all, this song did always remind him of Dream.
