Summary:

I need to throw something else! Izuku thought, hands seeking anything within range.

His right hand wrapped around something, and the effort of lifting it made him spin. A deep voice resonated in his head “WHOSOEVER HOLDS THIS HAMMER-” He ignored it and threw the object in his hand, the metal of it ringing as it blew a hole in the sludge.

Izuku sprinted as hard as he could, feeling more energized than he ever had. He grabbed Bakugo by the shoulder and pulled with all his might, ripping the other boy from the slime. As if guided by some strange force, he lifted his arm and held out his open hand, the voice continuing to speak “-IF HE BE WORTHY-”

The thing flew back into his hand, the force of which forced his arm up, holding the hammer loft “-SHALL POSSESS THE POWER OF THOR!” A lightning bolt thundered down from the sky, striking Izuku and filling him full of energy.

Notes:

Hey guys! Some of you might know me from other fics, and yes to you guys that means that my other fics will take an extra week to update, but I couldn't help myself! The idea was too strong! Oh! Also! I just want to say that I have read, and greatly enjoy Deku: God of Thunder by NickTheHuman. It's great and similar in the fact that Izuku has Thor's hammer as well, but the stories are different! Trust me and you'll see! I hope to upload a new chapter to this (and my other fics) once every 5 weeks, so stay tuned! Enjoy!

Chapter 1: Humble beginnings

Chapter Text

Thor Odinson never thought he would be able to have this. He tried with Jane Foster, but it didn’t work out. After that he was too busy to think of a relationship. Yet here he was. “Can you pass the salt honey?” His wonderful wife asked with a smile.

From under his greying whiskers he smiled. “Of course my dearest one” His large hand dwarfed the salt shaker, the calluses from his hundreds of years of fighting were soothed by the soft skin of his wife’s own hands. She shook a little bit of salt onto her meal before looking up to him. “Is something the matter, dearest one?” The Asgardian’s voice rumbled like thunder.

“I… I have something to tell you…” His wife trailed off, looking to the ground. He tilted her head back up gently and nodded at her. “W-well… Thor I-” She stopped, took a deep breath and looked him straight in the eye “I’m p-pregnant”

Thor was never a smart man, he knew this, but this completely short circuited his brain. He blinked once, twice, three times. “I-I’m going to be a father? Not just a step-dad, a real pops?” His wife nodded happily, tears streaming down her face. Thor bellowed laughter, loud enough to shake their table. “Oh father, brother, if you could see me now!”

“You’ve been a father for some time, my love” The woman said with a smile “Akatani may not be related to you by blood, but you’re still his dad” If Thor wasn’t already crying, that statement would have brought tears to his eyes. The last living Avenger stood out of his seat and collapsed to his knees next to his wife, throwing his arms around her.

“Thank you for giving me such joy in my life, my dearest one”

“You deserve it, my love”

That was when Thor’s phone went off. He scowled at it and picked it up with a huff of annoyance. His gaze softened at the message. “I have to go, dearest one. All Might needs me. He found him” Thor’s wife nodded sadly, she knew that it was important, even if she didn’t want to see her husband go. “I will return soon” Thor said, picking up Mjolnir where it rested on their coffee table.

The Asgardian moved to the door, twirling Mjolnir as he got ready to fly. “Wait!” His wife cried, she jogged over to him and pressed a kiss to his cheek “I love you, Odinson” Thor chuckled at his wife’s actions and kissed her forehead.

“I love you too, dearest one” He then sunk to his knees and pressed a small kiss to her stil flat belly “I cannot wait for you my child” He stood up and waved goodbye to his wife “I will return as soon as I can Inko, you have my word” He then launched himself into the air.

Inko Midoriya watched as her husband, god of thunder, flew off to fight one of the most dangerous villains Earth has ever created. The stars in the sky flickered gently and she smiled. She rubbed her belly gently before walking inside, impatiently waiting for her husband to come home.

~15 YEARS LATER~

“15 years after the death of Thor, the last Avenger, and the sight of his hammer is still a sign of hope for this world” The newscaster said, panning over to a shot of the hammer, a young man trying and failing to pick it up “Many have tried and failed to lift the legendary Mjolnir, but all have failed. Will the new god of thunder arrive soon? Or will it be when a time of crisis is upon us that a hero shall emerge from the darkness, hammer in hand, and smite evil alongside the great heroes of our time All Might and Endeavour? Stay tuned to find out our guesses”

Izuku Midoriya frowned at his screen, the hero news channel covered Thor’s hammer every year on the day of his death. The cause of which was still unknown. The hammer dropped in the middle of an alleyway in Mustafu. Izuku had gone to see it, but when he had gone to see it-

~FLASHBACK~

“Yeah like you’d be worthy of anything more than a kick in the pants, Deku ” Bakugo seethed, glaring the other preteen down. The blonde haired boy stepped up to the hammer and yanked, but as is normal it did not budge. He huffed it off “I must not be worthy yet . I just have to try harder!”

~END FLASHBACK~

Izuku got off the train at his stop, trudging his way to school. “Hey Sparkplug!” a voice called out, stopping Izuku in his tracks. The teen turned around to see his older brother smiling at him. “Have a good day you little lightning bug! I love you!”

Izuku gave his brother a wry smile and walked away saying “Yeah yeah, I love you too Akatani!” He heard his brother’s fake cry of pain before the train pulled off to take him to UA. He was in the business course. Akatani had never been interested in being a hero, but had always supported Izuku. Izuku loved his older brother.

Izuku sighed as he walked up to school, already dreading the day to come. He got there early, sitting in his seat and writing in his notebook about the most recent hero fights as he waited for the day to start. He was lucky enough that the teacher walked in before Bakugo could terrorise him. At least for now.

School was just about to end when the teacher made an announcement “I should really pass out these papers” The man said monotone, as usual “But I know you all just want to be heroes, so what’s the point?!” At his sudden enthusiasm, the class erupted into chaos, quirks being displayed all over the place.

Izuku shrunk in his seat, hoping that no one’s phone batteries were low. That was when Bakugo got fed up. “Don’t lump me in with these extras teach!” The blonde roared, slamming a steaming hand on his desk.

The teacher rolled his eyes before shuffling through some papers “Bakugo you’re aiming for UA right? Huh, so is Midoriya it seems” The class became deadly quiet at this, all eyes turning to the blue eyed boy at the back of the room. Izuku shrunk in his seat more, cursing the teacher for drawing attention to him.

DEKU ” Bakugo growled, stalking over to the boy, small explosions popping off of his hands “How dare you try and beat me” Izuku stammered something about not trying to do that at all, but the angry blonde wouldn’t hear it. He thrust out his phone “This is all that you’re good for you damned Deku. Now charge it up!”

Izuku did his best not to cry. He held out a hand and allowed his quirk to flow through him, the small amount of electricity that coursed through him charging the other boy’s phone. Ever since Izuku got his quirk, everyone has known that it was useless. It was even called “Minor Electric Shock” For crying out loud.

Thankfully the bell rang and Bakugo’s goons convinced him to give Mjolnir another shot, leaving Izuku panting on the ground. He got up slowly, feeling drained. As he was leaving he decided to walk home instead of ride the train, it wasn’t like Akatani would be there when he arrived.

He was passing under a bridge when something burst from the sewers, grabbing him with its slimy body. “A perfect skinsuit!” The villain exclaimed, a smile on its weirdly human teeth. Izuku struggled as the thing poured itself down his throat. He could feel the life slowly draining away from him. Out of nowhere he felt something. An urge to fight back. His quirk flared bigger than ever, sparks shooting through the sludge surrounding him.

Before anything could come of this surge of power, All Might emerged from the same manhole that the villain had. Izuku fell unconscious after that, and when he awoke, All Might jumped away before he had the opportunity to say anything. He looked in his notebook to find that All Might had already signed it. SCORE! New best day of his life!

He was looking at it excitedly when a large explosion sounded off in the distance. He jogged towards the fight, interested to see if there would be a new hero to write about. When he arrived at the scene, he saw the same slime villain from earlier. “D-didn’t All Might already capture him?” Izuku said, eyes wide.

Then he saw who it was that was held in the villain’s grasp. Bakugo. Izuku was moving before he knew what was happening. He knew that his quirk wouldn’t be enough, so his mind scrambled to think of something. He threw his bag, the books hitting the villain in the face and stopping him for a second. I need to throw something else! Izuku thought, hands seeking anything within range.

His right hand wrapped around something, and the effort of lifting it made him spin. A deep voice resonated in his head “ WHOSOEVER HOLDS THIS HAMMER- ” He ignored it and threw the object in his hand, the metal of it ringing as it blew a hole in the sludge.

Izuku sprinted as hard as he could, feeling more energized than he ever had. He grabbed Bakugo by the shoulder and pulled with all his might, ripping the other boy from the slime. As if guided by some strange force, he lifted his arm and held out his open hand, the voice continuing to speak “ -IF HE BE WORTHY-

The thing flew back into his hand, the force of which forced his arm up, holding the hammer loft “- SHALL POSSESS THE POWER OF THOR! ” A lightning bolt thundered down from the sky, striking Izuku and filling him full of energy.

The crowd gasped as Izuku stood there, now dressed in Asgardian armor just like Thor, holding Mjolnir high above his head. A storm quickly brewed, lightning, thunder, and rain pouring down around the new god of thunder. The slime villain looked up as Izuku floated a few feet off of the ground, sparks roiling off of the young man.

The villain lashed out in a vain attempt to fight the new wielder of Mjolnir, but his tendril was batted away easily. Izuku’s eyes glowed with lightning as he glared at the villain. He lifted the hammer above his head again and slammed it down into the slime villain, splattering him against the ground. He was unharmed of course, being sludge and all, but it still knocked him out.

Izuku turned to find a stunned crowd and a gaping All Might. Mjolnir fit into his hand as if it had always belonged there. As the rain and thunder crashed down around them, Izuku felt complete. His quirk felt stronger than ever before.

Chapter Text

Suddenly Izuku was flying through the air, held tightly by a pair of muscled arms, the rippling biceps blocking his view. He felt the beating of the man’s heart through his pecs. Izuku was dimly aware that he had dropped Mjolnir, the surge of energy he felt waning slightly, but still thrumming through his body like a freight train.

Finally Izuku found himself set down on a rooftop, and looked up at his kidnapper? He was unsure of the term he should use, especially since the person who grabbed him was All Might himself! Izuku nearly fainted, but the adrenaline in his system kept him awake.

WHAT IS YOUR NAME YOUNG MAN, AND HOW WERE YOU ABLE TO PICK UP THAT HAMMER?! ” All Might asked, his voice booming. Izuku took a small step back, a little afraid of the man. That is until he was surrounded by a burst of steam. The once ripped hero, now a frail emancipated man.

Izuku held out his hand and recalled Mjolnir to him, pointing at the skeletal man threateningly “Who are you and how did you impersonate All Might so well?” The man chuckled wryly, rubbing a hand through his blonde locks.

“Kid, I am All Might” The man said, wiping a bit of blood from the side of his mouth. He looked dead into Izuku’s eyes and the young man knew that he was telling the truth. “A villain gave me this 15 years ago” All Might lifted his shirt to reveal a horrible scar taking up most of the left side of his body.

“Toxic chainsaw couldn’t do that” Izuku murmured, staring in horror at the warped skin and muscle tissue.

“Ha! You know your stuff!” All Might chuckled. He sat down gently, leaning against the wall. “I worked a lot with Thor when he was still alive. He was a good man” There seemed to be a tear leaking from the hero’s eye, but he wiped it away. “I’d like to help train you to use Mjolnir, if that’s ok?”

“A chance to train with All Might?!” Izuku exclaimed, holding Mjolnir up to his chin like a little kid with a lollipop and bouncing a little. “ YES !” Thunder crackled around them to emphasize his point, scaring All MIght. He had gone toe to toe with the god of thunder before, for training purposes, and he was hesitant to fight this one, even if he was still new.

All Might chuckled before standing “Well uh…”

“Izuku Midoriya”

“Young Midoriya! The first lesson will be flying, an important part of Thor’s powers! With it you are able to get around quickly and easily. So from what I understand, you spin Mjolnir around by the strap and fling it in the direction that you wish to travel. You can change directions using the same tactic or just move the hammer in that direction, it would just be slower. Why don’t you try it out!”

Izuku swirled Mjolnir, the motion feeling familiar to him already. After a few seconds of windup, he thrust Mjolnir forwards and felt his feet leave the roof. He hurtled through the air uncontrollably, the wind whipping his face. Finally he gained his barings and looked around. “WOW” He exclaimed, seeing Mustafu from high above the city. He searched around before he found the area that was close to his home.

With another swing of Mjolnir, he soared in the direction of his house. As he got close to the ground he realized something. All Might never told him how to land. A force similar to the one that taught him how to summon the hammer showed him how to land. He crashed to the ground in a crouch, the concrete beneath him cracking with the force of his landing.

He smiled large and walked up to his home, throwing the door open excitedly. “Mom! Mom! You’ll never guess what happened!” He raced into the kitchen, and found his mom putting away the dishes.

Inko turned towards her son and dropped the plate that she was holding, the smile fleeing from her face. He looked just like his father. The blue eyes, the armor, Mjolnir, the excited and naive smile on his face. “No…” She whispered, cutting off her rambling son.

“What was that mom?” Izuku asked, tilting his head to the side. Inko backed away from that cursed hammer, shaking, tears already forming in her eyes. Izuku took a hesitant step towards her, but seeing his mother press herself against the cupboards stopped him in his tracks.

“I don’t know how you have that, but go put it back” Inko hissed, eyes never leaving Mjolnir. Izuku held the hammer closer to his chest protectively. He backed away from his mother, confusion written across his face.

“What? Why?! I can finally be a hero mom! Just like I’ve always wanted!” Izuku said, a small, hopeful smile twitching on his lips.

“NO!” Inko cried, shocking Izuku with the loudness of her voice “I don’t want you to have that hammer! I don’t want you to be a hero!” Inko’s head fell, tears dripping from her cheeks “I can’t lose you too”

Izuku’s brow furrowed. “What do you mean ‘lose me too’?”

Inko sighed sadly “I have to tell you something Izuku. Your father doesn’t work overseas. You’re not Hizashi’s son like Akatani is. Hizashi and I have been divorced for 17 years” Izuku took a step back, grip tightening on Mjolnir “Your father was… Thor”

Mjolnir slipped from Izuku’s hand and landed with a thud on the floor. “What? B-but… you told me that my quirk was a mutation! That you and Da-Hizashi had a fling one more time before he moved overseas! T-t-that I could be anything I wanted to be!”

Inko nodded “I told you all of those things to keep you safe! You don’t have a quirk Izuku” Izuku paled at this, almost collapsing to the ground “You’re an Asgardian, those were your powers coming in, not a quirk. The reason they were so weak was because you didn’t have that damned thing” she pointed at Mjolnir “I married Thor a little while before you were born, it was a secret wedding and I was kept veiled so that no one knew who I was. Your father went off to battle with that stupid hammer, trying to be a hero, and died!” Izuku flinched at that “So I know that I told you that you had a quirk, that Hizashi was your father, and that you could be whatever you wanted to be, but I lied ! You can be anything you want, just NOT A HERO !”

Izuku stood there silently, shock written all over his face. His whole world had been flipped upside down for the third time that day. First Mjolnir, then All Might, and now… THIS! He didn’t know what to think! He didn’t know what to do!

Finally he opened his hand, Mjolnir floating up to it gently. He turned around and walked to his room, shoulders shaking from barely contained rage. “I-Izu-” Was all Inko could say before his door slammed shut, the force rattling everything in the house.

~A FEW MINUTES LATER~

Akatani burst through the door, a huge smile on his face and a cake in his hands “Izuku! Mom! I saw what happened! Is this cool or what?!” He closed the door behind him with his foot, bouncing into the house. When he saw his mother cleaning up the broken dish with tears in her eyes, he knew something was the matter “Mom?” he asked, concerned “What’s going on?” Inko looked up to him and sniffed.

Izuku was in his room, studying the intricate designs on Mjolnir when a knock sounded at his door. “Sparkplug? Can I come in?” Izuku rolled over to face the wall, but gave a half response half hum of approval.

Akatani slid into his room, not opening the door more than what was needed for him to enter. “Hey little lightning bug, I heard the uh… truth I guess” Izuku curled in on himself, listening to the soothing sound of his brother’s voice. The black haired teen sighed and ran a hand over his face. “For what it’s worth, I’m glad you were the one to pick up the hammer”

Izuku froze at this, slowly turning over. The tears in his eyes flowing softly down his face “R-really?” Akatani nodded, pulling Izuku’s chair closer to the bed.

“Yeah. I don’t know anyone else who would be better suited to use Th-... Your dad’s hammer” Another tear rolled down Izuku’s face as he sat up, showing his brother Mjolnir. Akatani chuckled and gave Izuku a smile “And hey, how else would we make the Midoriya hero agency? We have to have a hero ya know?”

Izuku’s face split into a big grin when he remembered their old plans. Akatani had their mother’s quirk but a bit stronger, but he didn’t let that get him down. He was always coming up with ideas for Izuku to be a hero, from an electric sword to carrying around batteries to use as power sources. They had come up with the Midoriya hero agency when Izuku developed his powers, Izuku would be the main hero and Akatani would run things behind the scenes.

Izuku looked down at Mjolnir, then up to his brother. He set it on the floor in front of him and looked up at the green eyed boy expectantly. Akatani shook his head with a small smile “Nah, I’m good, kiddo. That’s your thing. I don’t need that question answered. Besides, I don’t want to steal your…” Izuku narrowed his eyes, as if daring his brother to finish “ thunder? ”

Izuku groaned, falling back onto his bed as Akatani laughed up a storm, cackling at his own little pun. Akatani jumped onto Izuku’s bed beside him, looking up at the ceiling. They lay there in silence for a while before Akatani looked over to his younger brother. “Izuku?”

Izuku started at the sound of his name, usually Akatani only said that in serious situations. He met his brother’s eyes nervously “Y-y-yeah Akatani?”

Akatani gave him a close eyed smile and said “Even if we have different dads, you’ll always be my little brother” Izuku latched onto the older teen, sobbing into his shoulder. Akatani patted the boy on the back gently, holding him tightly.

Chapter Text

Izuku gripped Mjolnir, ready to head out and train with All Might. It had been about a week since he had lifted his father’s hammer, and every day he and All Might had been meeting at Dagobah beach so that All Might could pass on his wisdom to the young man. He hummed a tune to himself as he walked to the front door.

“I-Izuku!” His mother called. He stopped dead in his tracks, but said nothing. Ever since that fateful day his mother had tried to talk to him, but no matter what she said he didn’t respond. The two stood there silently for a minute before Izuku opened the door and walked out.

He would have loved to use Mjolnir to fly to the beach, but it was not exactly legal for him to be flying around, regardless of the fact that it wasn’t technically using his quirk in public. So instead he hopped on the train. He got a lot of odd stares, but that was to be expected when carrying the hammer of a long dead god. Finally the train stopped at his station and he got off. A wide smile stretched across his face as he walked out onto the beach.

All Might was there in his civilian form, but there was also a woman there. She had a dark complexion and black hair with grey stripes that fell in several braids over one of her shoulders and down her chest. She was wearing an odd costume, causing Izuku to think that she was a pro hero, but he had never heard of her. Her costume was a mix of white and silvery-gold, with a blue cape, and a sword slung over her shoulder. She also wore a bit of white face paint, a few lines that ran over her right eye.

The woman looked over at him and scoffed “There you are, finally!” She crossed her arms and scanned Izuku’s body critically, sizing him up. “So you’re the one who lifted that idiot’s hammer huh?”

“He waS N OT AN -” Thunder rumbled around Izuku as he gripped Mjolnir tightly.

Before he could continue, the woman cut him off “An idiot? Yes he was, but a loveable idiot all the same. Just because someone is stupid does not mean that they were a bad person kid. Now if you’ll stop throwing a tantrum I can do what I came here to do.”

Izuku squinted at her cautiously “What did you come to do?”

“Train you of course, you think this knucklehead knows anything about using Mjolnir?” The woman scoffed, jabbing a thumb at All Might. “The name’s Valkyrie, and I was a close friend of Thor’s. We used to train together before quirks became commonplace”

“Wait” Izuku said, running through the mental math for how long it had been since the beginning of quirks “That would make you centuries old! How are you still alive? Do you have an immortality quirk? No that wouldn’t make sense, you show signs of aging. Mumblemumblemumble”

Valkyrie rolled her eyes “I’m Asguardian, same as Thor. We age much much slower than you humans do. I’ve been alive for far longer than you could imagine, but it’s not nice to point out someone’s age, kid. Now enough with the chit chat, let’s get down to business” Izuku could have sworn he heard her mutter “To defeat the huns” under her breath, but that could very well have been his imagination.

From that moment on, Izuku trained like he had never trained in his life. Valkyrie pushed him as hard as All Might would permit. She taught him everything he would need to know about Mjolnir and its powers. Everything from how to fly, and land, properly to how to summon storms, to how to fight with a weapon that could easily kill a human if he was not careful. There were ups and downs to the training, like the one time he set a trash pile on fire and Valkyrie both laughed and scolded him, and the time they all went out for dinner and had a good time. Throughout this all, the situation with his mother got worse.

Eventually she gave up trying to talk to him, and all the things she needed to tell him were passed on through Akatani. Akatani did his best to help his mom and little brother, but there was only so much he could do.

Finally ten months had passed, and it was the day of the entrance exams for UA. Valkyrie and All Might arrived at the beach to see it completely clean, the newest wielder of Mjolnir stood triumphant on top of a huge pile of trash. He raised the hammer to the sky and a bolt of lightning struck it, changing him from his workout clothes to his school uniform, a trick that had proved very handy in getting from the beach to school quickly. He hovered down to stand in front of his two mentors.

Valkyrie gave him a smile “Great job squirt, you really earned that hammer” She ruffled his hair and gave him a lopsided smile “You started out a pipsqueak, but now look at you” All Might took a picture of Izuku and showed him a comparison. Before he was skinny and gangly, now he was incredibly muscled, much like Thor was in his glory days. “You’re gonna do amazing things Izuku” Valkyrie said. She turned and walked off, and it was All Might’s turn to talk.

“You have done well Young Midoriya. I’m proud of your accomplishments, and I’m sure that Thor could not have picked a better successor.” Izuku smiled widely, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. “Now you need to get going, the exam starts soon”

“Oh no!” Izuku said, slapping his hands on his face “I’m going to miss the train!”

All Might gave him a smile and whipped out his phone again. As he typed something in, he said “I’m giving you permission to fly to UA and telling all of the heroes in the area to let you pass. But just this once young man!”

Izuku laughed confidently and swirled Mjolnir “Thanks All Might! See you later!” With that he launched off at high speeds, soaring through the city towards UA. All Might watched after him and sighed “If only he hadn’t picked up the hammer. He would have made an excellent One For All user.”

~SMALL TIME SKIP~

Izuku landed solidly on the concrete in front of UA. The teen strode forwards to enter the school, but a boy with blue hair, glasses, and engines in his legs stopped him and began chopping his arm in an odd fashion. “It is illegal to use your quirk without a permit sir! If you seriously want to become a hero then you MUST abide by the laws!”

Izuku turned towards the boy with an embarrassed look on his face “W-well you see, I got permission from my mentor who is a pro-hero to fly here. I would have been extremely late otherwise. Besides, I didn’t technically use my quirk” Izuku then lifted Mjolnir for the boy to see and he gasped.

“Hmmm, then I guess it is alright” The blue haired boy scratched his chin “But it is still important that we do not soil the reputation of the school!” The boy stretched out a hand to Izuku “I am Tenya Iida, what is your name?”

“Izuku Midoriya'' Izuku said with a smile, his electric blue eyes twinkling. Something that Valkyrie had drilled into his head was to be more confident in himself. She forced him to acknowledge his accomplishments and his strengths. He was still working on it, but it was definitely an improvement from just a year earlier.

Iida and Izuku walked in together, chatting about what they thought would be on the exam. After about ten minutes, the auditorium where they were supposed to sit was full of students. The lights dimmed and the room grew silent. Present Mic strode out on stage and called out “WHAT’S UP UA CANDIDATES!”

He proceeded to explain how the exam would work, but Izuku was busy trying to ignore a very angry Bakugo. See, when Izuku lifted Mjolnir, he became incredibly popular. Kids from all over his school would try and get on his good side, but Bakugo had a very different reaction. The first chance he got he slammed Izuku into a wall by his collar and yelled in his face “YOU TOOK IT FROM ME! THAT WAS MY HAMMER! MY DESTINY!” Before he could go any further, Izuku summoned Mjolnir, the weapon thrumming with power in his hand.

“You weren’t worthy Kac-Bakugo” As Izuku said this, Bakugo’s eyes widened in shock, Izuku had never talked to him this way “It was not yours, ever. And honestly I don’t think it ever will be. I’m sorry. I’m sure you’ll be a great hero, but Mjolnir isn’t going to be a part of that”

From that day on, Bakugo had basically ignored Izuku’s existence, only scowling at him whenever the teen got close. Sitting next to him was not fun. Finally they were released for the actual exam and Izuku was excited! It was time to see what he could really do!

Chapter Text

Izuku was standing in front of the exam’s gates in normal exercise gear, he figured that wearing his Asguardian armor wouldn’t be fair to the other examinees. There was a crowd of people milling about in front of him, some doing stretches, some practicing their quirks, some just chatting. The blue eyed boy then saw a girl who looked nervous, she had brown bobbed hair, pink cheeks, and looked like she was about to throw up. Izuku walked over to her and got her attention gently. “Hey, you look sick. Are you ok?”

Before the girl could respond, Iida power-walked over to the two of them while swinging his arm in that weird way he did earlier. Kinda like a broken slot machine. “Midoriya, can’t you see that this girl is trying to concentrate? You’re distracting her!”

Izuku jumped, eyes wide “Oh no! I’m so sorry! I was just trying to help!” The boys were interrupted by the girl laughing. “T-thanks um Midoriya? You definitely helped!” The girl gave him a big smile.

“AND START!” Present Mic called over the radio. The testees looked around in confusion. “THERE AREN’T ANY COUNTDOWNS IN REAL LIFE! LOOK, THAT KID’S GOT THE RIGHT IDEA!” Valkyrie was a strict teacher. When she said go, you went. When she said jump, you jumped. When she said start-

Izuku crushed three robots with a swing of Mjolnir, cleaving through them with the cosmic weapon like they were made of paper. He turned and zapped another with a bolt of electricity before swinging his hammer and flying off again. He continued this trend, gaining points like he was in a video game while also leaving robots here and there. He didn’t want to ruin anyone else’s chances after all. “TWO MINUTES LEFT!” Present Mic cried.

That was when a loud rumbling shook the testing area. A large robot emerged from the ground, towering over the nearest buildings. Izuku guessed that that was the zero pointer. He saw that the other potential students were running away from the giant and Izuku was about to follow when he heard something. A cry for help.

Uraraka had fallen and she couldn’t get up. “Now’s not the time for comedy Ochako” She chided. There was a piece of rubble on top of her ankle and she couldn’t reach it. Besides that she was so nauseous that she was actively fighting losing her lunch. Then the situation got somehow worse. The giant zero point robot saw her and wound back. “HELP!” The brown-haired teen cried, trying desperately to reach the chunk of concrete keeping her pinned.

The zero pointer threw its punch, the fist coming towards Uraraka like a freight train. She closed her eyes, hoping that UA wouldn’t actually let her die. There was a crunching noise and then silence. When Uraraka opened her eyes, she saw Izuku there, holding the fist back with both hands. It had caved around his body, but he stood his ground. He was shaking with the effort as he pushed back against the titanic robot.

The zero pointer pulled its arm back and looked at the damage. Meanwhile Izuku slumped a bit, muttering something about not being trained for this. He summoned Mjolnir and whipped it towards the robot’s head. It bounced off its metal face with a loud “ CLANG ” He then recalled the weapon, swirling it quickly before flying into the air. The zero pointer tried to bat him away with its good arm, but Izuku met the blow with Mjolnir.

The robot’s arm was cleaved off at what would be its mid forearm, crashing to the ground like a fallen building. Izuku then threw the hammer at the zero pointer’s body, knocking it off balance. He summoned Mjolnir once more and raised it above his head. Storm clouds gathered, and multiple bolts of lightning struck him and his weapon. He brought Mjolnir down with a mighty crash, completely destroying the massive robot.

Dust clouds flew up everywhere and it was difficult to see what happened. As the dust cleared, Izuku emerged. Because of the lightning, most of his shirt had burned off, leaving only a bit covering his arm, shoulders, and a little bit of his side. Izuku walked over to Uraraka where she was stuck under the piece of rubble. “Here, let me help you with that” He said. He lifted the chunk of debris like it was a paper plate and tossed it towards the broken body of the zero pointer.

Or what was left of it. The other examinees saw that his attack had destroyed all but what would have been the pelvis and legs, and even those were blackened with scorch marks. Izuku reached out a hand to help Uraraka up and gave her a big smile. Uraraka slowly grabbed his hand, her gaze flickering rapidly between the cute smile the blue eyed boy wore, and his rippling chest.

Izuku lifted her gently, setting her on her feet. For just a second, Uraraka stood on her own, then pain shot through her ankle and she fell onto the muscled boy. Izuku caught her softly, a concerned look on his face “Medic!” He cried “We have an injury over here!” Uraraka took the time to casually feel the boy’s chest. She then proceeded to vomit on his shoes.

“Oh dear!” An elderly woman said “What’s wrong?”

“Recovery Girl!” Izuku’s eyes lit up happily before he remembered the girl shakily holding onto him “Um, she seems to be finding it difficult to stand, and she threw up”

“With the way you’re dressed sonny, I don’t doubt it” Izuku looked confused for a second before he surveyed his clothing. His face went bright red once he noticed his lack of a real shirt, but he didn’t allow Uraraka to fall over. “Now let me take a look at her,” Recovery Girl said, moving closer. She studied Uraraka’s legs and nodded sagely “A broken ankle. Not too bad of a fix, but it will still take some time” The heroine kissed the girl’s cheek gently and Uraraka felt a rush of relief as the pain faded, though she still felt like falling over. “She’s going to need some help out. Her ankle is going to be weak for a bit and she’s going to be very tired. Can I count on you to help her out young man?” Recovery Girl asked, a sly smile on her face.

Izuku nodded “O-of course. If you could just hold her for one second?” With a raised eyebrow the heroine took over supporting Uraraka. Izuku summoned Mjolnir and raised it to the sky. A thunderbolt struck him, and when the light faded he was wearing some casual clothes that covered him a lot better. “There we go,” He said with a small sigh of relief. He hooked the girl’s arm over his shoulders and together they began walking off, shock written on the other students’ faces. Recovery Girl chuckled and walked around to find other injured students.

Izuku helped a blushing Uraraka to walk out of the exam site and onto one of the buses that came to pick them up. She apologized profusely about throwing up on the boy, but he merely waved it off. “You’ve already explained, it’s a part of your quirk! Besides, I can change at will as long as I have Mjolnir” He hefted the hammer as he said that.

They rode the bus together and chatted about Uraraka’s quirk. Izuku pointed out several ways that she could use it that the brown-haired girl had never thought of “For example” He said “You should get a really big weapon, like an axe or a hammer. Then what you do is you use your quirk on it to make it light, then you cancel your quirk just before it hits something. You would effectively be able to swing things up to a couple hundred pounds like they were feathers!”

“Wow!” Uraraka exclaimed “I had never thought of it that way! I’ve gotta write that down! You have a pen?” As she was writing the information down on her forearm, the bus pulled up to the school. The two got off of the bus, and Uraraka was still writing with her tongue sticking out of her mouth. Izuku started to walk towards the entrance while Uraraka walked towards the locker rooms to get changed. “Wait! Uh Midoriya! Your pen-!”

“Just hold onto it for me!” Izuku replied with a smile “When we get into UA you can give it back!” Uraraka blushed again and smiled back. They waved goodbye and Izuku took off towards the train station.

Inko looked up as her son returned. He had been at UA, she knew he had. He barely spared her a glance as he took off his shoes and walked briskly into his room. There Izuku found his brother waiting for him. “How was the test Sparkplug?'' Akatani asked, throwing a ball into the air and catching it.

“It went well!” Izuku said “I definitely didn’t do anything dangerous. Nope. No sir!” Akatani looked at Izuku out of the corner of his eye. He slowly got up and stalked over to the younger boy. He stooped down just a bit to look his brother in the eye. Akatani squinted, causing Izuku to gulp.

“You’re a terrible liar” Akatani said with a chuckle, moving towards the door.

“Wait!” Izuku said “I’m ok, honest! It wasn’t too bad! Please don’t tell mom!”

Akatani paused and looked over his shoulder “Listen kiddo, I know that you can take care of yourself. I’m not worried about it. I wasn’t going to tell mom, I was going to get Mario Kart. I’m gonna kick your ass for trying to lie to me” The siblings laughed and Akatani did indeed beat Izuku’s ass in Mario Kart that night.

Chapter Text

It was about two weeks before UA sent anything. During that time, All Might had been mysteriously silent. This concerned Izuku, but after texting Valkyrie, she told him that All Might was likely just on a sting operation or something and couldn’t respond. He was still very stressed about this, but her words did help.

Izuku was typing away at his computer when he heard his door open. He turned to see his mother standing there, a letter in her hands. “Izuku,” She began, hesitant “I-I know I’ve hurt you. I know that I’ve lied, and I know that I said things that no mother should say to her child. I just-” She trailed off. She took a deep breath and tried again “I want you to know that I’m sorry. You don’t have to forgive me, I just hope that I can make it up to you eventually. And if you want to become a hero then… then I think that you’ll be the best hero out there”

Izuku felt tears surfacing in his eyes, but tried not to cry. “Thank you,” He said softly. His mother handed him the letter and left, closing the door quietly behind her. Izuku cut open the letter, and a strange circular device fell out. Before Izuku could question it, it lit up with a holographic image of All Might.

HAHA I AM HERE! TO DELIVER THE RESULTS OF YOUR EXAM! I’M SURE YOU’RE WONDERING WHY I’M THE ONE GIVING OUT THIS NEWS. WELL I WILL BE WORKING AT UA THIS YEAR, SO THEY ASKED ME TO READ OFF THE SCORES! ” All Might exclaimed with his classic smile “ I’M VERY PROUD OF YOU YOUNG MIDORIYA! YOU GOT THE SECOND MOST VILLAIN POINTS! BUT THERE WAS A SECOND, SECRET CATEGORY, RESCUE POINTS! YOU SCORED THE MOST RESCUE POINTS OF ALL TIME, BEATING EVEN MY HIGH SCORE! wonderful job my boy! ” The last part he whispered out of the side of his mouth, holding his hand up as if to keep the noise from reaching someone else in the room “ OVERALL, YOU SCORED THE HIGHEST OUT OF EVERYONE ON THE ENTRANCE EXAM! WELCOME YOUNG MIDORIYA, TO YOUR HERO ACADEMIA!

With that the hologram faded. Izuku sat in shock, not only had he gotten into his dream school, not only had he gotten first place in the exam, he surpassed All Might’s high score. ALL MIGHT! He felt faint.

Just then, Akatani burst into the room “I heard you got your letter! Did you already read it?!” Izuku turned around, tears in his eyes. “I passed,” He chuckled wetly. Akatani let out a whoop of excitement and scooped his brother out of his seat. That night was one of the happiest nights of their life.

~TIME SKIP~

Izuku breathed deeply as he arrived at UA. It was time to live out his dreams. He opened the door to the classroom, and felt his heart sink a little. “Do you not see how disrespectful that is!” Iida said, chopping his arm at one Katsuki Bakugo “Generations of heroes have sat at that desk!”

“I don’t give a shit glasses! I’ll do what I want!” Bakugo growled.

Izuku tried to sneak in, but then a familiar voice came from behind him “Midoriya!” The blue eyed boy turned to find Uraraka smiling up at him “You got in!” She bounced excitedly and Izuku’s heart throbbed. So cute!

“If you’re here to make friends you should leave,” Said a grim voice. Uraraka and Izuku looked around, but couldn’t see anyone. That is until they looked at the floor. There lay what appeared to be a yellow cocoon. It inched its way past them and to the podium at the front of the room. There the caterpillar shed its cocoon and turned into a-! Hobo? “I’m Shota Aizawa, I’ll be your homeroom teacher for the next three years, so I suggest you take your seats.”

All of the students in the room quickly raced to their desks, paying rapt attention to the rugged man at the front of the class. The tired looking man surveyed them all with what looked like dismay. He then took out a stack of gym uniforms and laid them on the podium. “Change into these and meet me outside in ten minutes.” With that he cooly walked out of the room.

The teens quickly grabbed a uniform and changed in the locker room. There wasn’t much talking, but Izuku didn’t notice. He instead walked straight through the locker rooms to the field. There he summoned a lightning bolt to change into the new outfit. Aizawa lifted an eyebrow, seemingly a bit impressed. He strode over to the new god of thunder and looked him up and down. “If you expect to be treated any different than the other kids just because you picked up some magic hammer, then you should drop out of the hero course”

“O-of course not sir!” Izuku responded. He looked down at Mjolnir “If I thought that, I don’t think Mjolnir would have allowed me to pick it up.” Aizawa squinted at him and grunted. He then turned to study the kids who exited the building. Izuku sighed in relief. That was more stressful than he had hoped.

Once all of the students were changed and on the field, Aizawa called them to attention “Listen up. We are going to be doing a test” There were a few groans, but they were silenced by Aizawa’s stare “Midoriya, you placed first overall in the entrance exams, come here” Izuku walked up to the man, trying desperately to ignore the very obvious growling coming from a certain blonde. “You know the ball throw from junior high?” Izuku nodded “What was your longest throw?”

“About 200 meters, sir” Izuku replied. There was muttering from the class behind him, and Aizawa looked pretty impressed. “Well now I want you to use your… quirk? Hammer? Powers? I don’t know what to call it. You can do whatever you want, just stay inside that circle” Aizawa pointed to a chalk circle on the ground, and Izuku nodded.

“Hmm” Izuku thought aloud “I could use Mjolnir to hit it, but…” Izuku set the ball on the ground in front of him. This confused the others, but then Izuku lifted Mjolnir. A rainbow suddenly struck the earth, blinding everyone. When it receded, the ball was gone. Aizawa looked at his phone, but it just read an error message.

“What was that?!” A kid with blonde hair said from the back. “Oh! I summoned the Bifrost. It was what allowed Thor to travel between planets so fast. I sent it to what remains of Asgard” Izuku replied, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.

The class burst into chatter, talking about how cool this was going to be. That was when Aizawa spoke up, “You think this will be fun, do you? Well how about this. The person who comes in last will be expelled” Everyone grew quiet at this “Good luck” The man said, a sadistic smile on his face.

For the next few hours they completed the tests, and Izuku scored high in almost all of them. He was second in the 50 meter dash, only losing to Iida, and just barely. He got second in the side steps, a kid with purple balls for hair bounced back and forth like he was a pinball. When it came time for the standing long jump, Izuku just flew around the school and Aizawa marked him for infinity. The only other one to get that score was Uraraka at the ball throw, but Izuku tied with her so he was still in the lead. The one place Izuku had problems in was the seated toe touch. He could do it, he was just too muscled to be as flexible as some people. Namely a pink girl named Ashido and a blonde boy named Ayoma. He was scarily flexible for a guy.

At the end of the day, Izuku was ranked number one on the leaderboard, and Izuku felt proud of himself, he did good! It was the purple ball headed kid that was last, Mineta. He was about to feel sorry for the little guy when he saw that Mineta was reaching for Uraraka’s butt. Before anyone could blink, Izuku grabbed the runt and threw him away from the girl. He then dropped Mjolnir on the boy’s chest, watching as the other teen writhed.

A black haired boy with oddly shaped elbows, Sero, peered over Izuku’s shoulder and said “Your constant harassment of the female gender makes me siiiick” Aizawa marched over to the three boys, about to give them a talking to when one of the girls, Asui, spoke up “Thank you kero, I noticed that he was staring at us and it grossed me out”

Aizawa looked down at the runt and scowled “I wasn’t going to expel you, you had potential, but now I feel that it’s justified. Pack your things and get out” Mineta tried to get up, but Mjolnir was still pinning him to the ground. Izuku winced and picked up the hammer, watching as the runt ran off crying.

“You go Midobro!” A red haired boy named Kirishima said. Sero, Kirishima, and the blonde from earlier, Kaminari started chanting “Mi-do-bro! Mi-do-bro!” And lifted the teen off of the ground, carrying him to the locker rooms. Uraraka chuckled, a tall black haired girl named Yaoyorozu giggled, a purple haired girl called Jiro sighed with a smile and they joined in on the chanting. The rest of the class walked behind the procession smiling or rolling their eyes. One boy with a raven head said “What a mad banquet of darkness” and followed them, chanting along half heartedly. Bakugo stood in the field alone, small explosions coming off of his palms as he glared at the confused boy being held aloft, and the shining hammer that he held in his hands.

Far far away, on a blackened piece of earth sat the ball, the UA logo standing proudly towards the sky. A pale hand reached down and plucked the ball up from where it lay, turning it over softly. “So… someone’s picked it up. My throne is in danger. I won’t allow anyone to take my rightful place” The hand crushed the ball, its black nails digging into the skin. “Ready my ship, we travel to… Midgard”

I'm pretty proud of how this chapter turned out. I could probably include some more fighting, but it wouldn't be realistic, as the power difference between Izuku and the rest of the class is rather large. I hope you enjoy! Also check out the end notes for a challenge!

Chapter Text

The next day, Izuku was sitting at his desk calmly, Mjolnir thrumming with power gently by his feet as the class finished an assignment. After everyone had turned in the work, a loud voice called through the door “ I AM… COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON! ” All Might then proceeded to enter the room, not at all like a normal person.

The students immediately burst into chatter, but All Might held up his hand and they quieted down. “ I AM HERE- FOR BATTLE TRAINING! ” The large man held up a card with the words ‘Battle Trial’ written on it “ BUT FIRST YOU MUST LOOK THE PART! GRAB YOUR COSTUMES AND MEET ME AT TRAINING GROUND GAMMA! ” WIth that the hero fled the room.

Uraraka noticed that Izuku didn’t have a costume case. “Hey Midobro, did they forget your costume?” Kirishima asked, apparently having also noticed.

“Um no” Izuku replied “I… well… I kinda have my costume built in.” He hefted Mjolnir and lightning struck him, changing out his clothes for Asguardian armor. The class began to comment on how cool it was. Well except for one angry blonde. He slipped out of the room and stormed his way to the locker rooms.

Izuku met All Might in the control room for training ground gamma. “Hello Young Midoriya” All Might said, his costume hanging from his shoulders like an opened parachute. “Is all going well?” Izuku nodded, and the two chatted for a few minutes. Just before the first students arrived, All Might buffed up into his hero form, and the class got under way.

All Might explained that they were going to be doing an exercise where one team would be the heroes and one would be the villains. The villains would try to guard a fake bomb or capture the heroes, and the heroes would try to capture the villains or touch the bomb. They were going to draw lots to see who they were partnered with and which team they would be on.

“Sir! With all due respect, why would our partners be randomized? Would it not be better to choose our team?” Iida asked, robotically chopping his hand.

“No, in real life you usually don’t get to pick the heroes that you will have to work with. This way we gain the experience of working with someone we are not familiar with” Izuku replied, much to All Might’s relief. After they drew lots, the class was allowed to look for their partner. Much to Izuku’s surprise and happiness, he was teamed up with Uraraka.

WAIT ” All Might said, counting “ ONE OF YOU DOESN’T HAVE A PARTNER. IS SOMEONE ABSENT? ” Yaoyorozu, who was the one without a partner, explained the situation with Mineta and All Might sighed “ WOULD ANYONE BE WILLING TO GO A SECOND ROUND?

The class looked around to see if anyone would volunteer, and Yaoyorozu looked sad. Finally a hand was raised “I can go twice, All Might” Izuku said, determination written on his face. All Might bellowed a laugh and gave Izuku a thumbs up. He then drew the team lots from the hero and villain boxes.

TEAM A WILL BE THE HEROES! ” He announced, and Izuku and Uraraka smiled at each other “ AND TEAM D WILL BE THE VILLAINS ” Izuku looked to see Bakugo scowling at him while Iida tried to talk to him. This was going to be… interesting.

All Might led the two teams to a building. He told Izuku and Uraraka to wait outside while he showed the faux villains where their bomb was. “So Midoriya, do you have a plan?” Uraraka asked, watching the blue eyed boy carefully. Izuku pondered the question for a bit before nodding.

“Bakugo is smart enough to know not to hide the bomb on the top floor, seeing as how we can both fly. He is also not stupid enough to think that the bomb is safer on the lower floor because we could just walk in. That means that he has taken the bomb to the middle floor to give them enough time to fight us without risking an immediate battle for the bomb.” Izuku explained, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. Uraraka watched him with wide eyes, definitely not fostering a crush or anything, no sir.

“I have an idea!” Izuku said “Bakugo likely assumes that I’m going to come in through the top, he never had confidence in my intelligence, so that’s what I’ll do! Meanwhile, you sneak in the bottom and find Iida with the bomb. I’ll do my best to capture Bakugo and meet up with you to get the bomb. If that doesn’t work I’m confident that you can take him by yourself!” Uraraka looked at the boy, his eyes shining with happiness. Why’d he have to be so damn cute?

“Sounds like an awesome plan!” Uraraka said, jumping a bit. Izuku blushed and looked away. All Might called for the start of the match, and the two teens looked at each other. “G-good luck!” Uraraka said before running off into the building with a blush. Why’d she have to be so damn cute?

Izuku swung Mjolnir and flew up to the roof. Thankfully there was a maintenance door that he was able to find, and he entered the building with little hassle. He jogged through the corridors, searching the rooms just in case, when an explosion knocked him off of his feet. He flipped in the air and skidded a few feet away, watching as Bakugo emerged from the smoke.

Izuku sent a blast of electricity at the blonde, but he launched himself out of the way with another explosion. The angry teen rocketed towards Izuku with his explosions. Izuku moved out of the way as he tried to throw a punch and swung Mjolnir up to knock the other boy away. Bakugo once again dodged, flying behind Izuku.

The explosion wielder spun around to attack Izuku, but he was struck by Mjolnir. Bakugo slammed into the wall, rolling to the side to avoid another strike from the cosmic hammer. Izuku blasted more lightning at the downed teen, and this time hit him. Bakugo fought his way out of the electrical surge to raise his hand and launch another explosion at Izuku.

Izuku lept back, barely avoiding the large explosion. The two boys huffed, staring at each other. “I won’t lose to you. You’re weak without that hammer” Bakugo growled. He stood up, holding his arm where Izuku had hit him. “I remember from before. You could only charge phones. You are nothing without it”

Izuku dropped Mjolnir on the ground and walked towards the boy “Fine then, I’ll show you that I don’t need it” Bakugo smiled a devilish grin and raised the arm he had been holding, the grenade shaped gauntlet pointed at Izuku. His finger was looped through a pin in the side.

YOUNG BAKUGO! DO NOT FIRE THAT WEAPON, IT COULD KILL HIM! ” All Might’s voice called through their earpieces. “Not if he dodges'' Bakugo responded, pulling out the pin. A wave of fire rushed through the hall towards Izuku, and he realized that he had been tricked.

~MEANWHILE~

Uraraka entered the building and slapped her cheeks gently. She had to get her head in the game! She couldn’t focus on the hunky brainiac she had just left behind. Even if she could grate cheese on his abs and crack walnuts with his biceps… NO! Focus girl! Uraraka searched the building quickly, trusting Izuku’s judgment. It turns out this was a good thing, considering the boy was right.

It was on the second floor of the four story building that Uraraka found Iida and the bomb. Iida was pacing around and talking to himself, getting into character. This would have made Uraraka giggle usually, but just then All Might spoke, imploring Bakugo not to hurt Izuku. Uraraka’s eyes widened with horror when she felt the explosion shake the building.

“Midoriya?” She called over her earpiece, not even paying attention to the equally concerned Iida “Midoriya are you alright?!” There was static for a while, but finally her earpiece crackled to life “ I’m ok Uraraka. I’ll be down in just a second. ” With that the line went dead. Uraraka was going to try and contact Izuku again, but suddenly he and Bakugo crashed through the ceiling.

Izuku huffed angrily, his red cape seemingly disappeared. He lifted the barely conscious Bakugo and threw him against a nearby wall. He seemed to blur over to the boy, socking him in the gut once, twice, three times before hitting him with an uppercut so powerful that he flew up through the hole that had been broken through the ceiling with their appearance.

Izuku lept after the teen, able to clear the jump even without Mjolnir. Bakugo swayed as he got up and spat out a tooth. He looked up just in time to see Izuku’s foot come in with a roundhouse kick. Rain and lightning hammered down outside of the building as Izuku thundered his way over to Bakugo.

The son of Thor lifted the blonde by the front of his costume “What’s wrong Bakugo? You said you wanted to fight me without Mjolnir! Well here I am!” The greenette reared back and slammed his forehead against the other boy’s nose, breaking it with a loud crack. “You insist that I’m nothing!” Izuku screamed, throwing Bakugo to the side. The teen slid across the ground, coming to a stop when he hit a wall. He tried to get up, but couldn’t. “You say that you should have been the one to wield it?” Izuku cried, summoning the hammer to his hand. Thunder crashed, shaking the building so hard that debris fell from the roof “Fine then! Wield it!” Izuku roared. He dropped in on the ground in front of the blonde.

Izuku turned around and leapt down to where Iida and Uraraka were fighting. Uraraka was trying desperately to get to the bomb, but Iida was stopping her every movement. When he hit the floor, Izuku simply walked towards the bomb, determined to get the exercise over with. Iida rushed to stop him, but Izuku merely sidestepped the speedster and held out an arm. Iida clotheslined himself and crashed through a nearby wall.

Izuku calmly slapped the faux bomb. Uraraka ran up to him, stopping short when she saw his furious expression. All Might called over their earbuds that the heroes had won, but Uraraka was more concerned about Izuku. His hair was singed, and his face was redder than normal, as if on the verge of sunburn. “Midoriya,” Uraraka said, softly laying a hand on his shoulder, the metal of his armor covered in ash “are you ok?”

Izuku took a deep breath before looking into the girl’s eyes “I’m alright, but there’s one more thing that I have to do.” He gently moved past her and jumped up through the hole once more. There he found Bakugo. The blonde had managed to get to his feet and was pulling on Mjolnir with all of his might, but he couldn’t budge it even an inch. “No matter how hard you try, you will never lift it as you are now” Izuku said.

“Fuck off! It’s just because I’m tired from the battle” Bakugo spat, sitting down heavily. Izuku shook his head and walked over calmly. He pressed his pinky to the handle of Mjolnir, and the hammer easily leaned towards the blonde. Izuku picked it up and shook his head “Then you will never be worthy” With that Izuku left the building, Bakugo staring dumbstruck at the spot where the hammer had lain as two medical robots lifted him onto a stretcher.

Notes:

So how did you guys like it? Some people may say something like "Bakugo can't dodge the lightning, he's not fast enough" and I would agree. BUT he's not dodging the lightning, he's dodging when he sees Izuku lift Mjolnir. It just so happens that he also moves out of the way of the lightning. Anyways, here's the challenge: If you can guess why Izuku is so angry at Bakugo during the trial, I will answer one question of yours no matter what it is! Good luck!

Chapter Text

(AN: I’m not going to write the other battles, they’re the same as they were in canon and I want to get on to the good stuff!)

Izuku patiently waited for his next match, this time he’d be paired with Yaoyorozu, so he stood next to the girl. The two discussed strategy, and came up with two brilliant plans that would use both of their powers to their fullest potential, one for if they were the heroes and one for if they were the villains. Finally All Might drew their lot “ TEAM G WILL BE THE HEROES FOR THIS MATCH, AND TEAM C WILL BE THE VILLAINS. YOUNG MIDORIYA, ARE YOU PREPARED TO GO AGAIN?

Izuku nodded. He was unhappy that he would be on the villain side this time, but it would be alright, he just had to get into character. All Might led them into the building and immediately they got to work. When they were in their last minute, Izuku held up his hammer and a bolt of lightning changed his clothes. Time to really get into the villain mindset.

Jirou and Kaminari jogged through the hallways on the top floor. They had spent a lot of time looking for the bomb on the lower floors, Yaoyorozu’s traps had been really annoying and had slowed them down quite a bit, but the top floor didn’t seem to hold the goal either! That was until they saw the door to the roof. “How much do you wanna bet they’re up there?” Jirou sighed, rubbing the bridge of her nose.

Kaminari sagged in annoyance, but the two pressed on. The door was almost impossible to open, but with a little help from Jirou’s quirk they managed to slip outside. Yaoyorozu apparently deadbolted the door shut, thankfully the vibrations from Jirou’s jacks had loosened it enough for them to open it. Once they were on the roof, they saw that the bomb was indeed up there. Yaoyorozu was leaning against it with a staff in her hand, looking very tired, but the real concerning part was Izuku.

His armor had changed. For one thing, he no longer had a shirt, his chest and arms rippling with muscles that would put bodybuilders to shame. His armored pants were pitch black instead of the steely grey-blue that they are with his normal armor. He still wore a cape, but this time it was a deep red that looked almost black. Finally his head was topped with a black headpiece that looked like a thin crown and pointed towards his nose.

Finally you decided to show up, puny heroes ” He said calmly, crossing his arms in front of his chest, Mjolnir hanging loosely from his right hand. His voice seemed to rumble like thunder as he spoke “ I was beginning to wonder if you had given up. ”

Jirou and Kaminari got into fighting stances. “Never!” Jirou said, feeling a little foolish for playing into the pretend role “We’ll fight you until our last breath!”

“We will?!” Kaminari asked, looking at Jirou as if she had lost her mind.

Izuku just clapped slowly “ You truly are brave, heroes. But how could you hope to fight when you face the very sky itself? ” With that, Izuku began to swirl Mjolnir above his head. Storm clouds quickly began to gather, turning the sky gray. Jirou and Kaminari ran towards the thunderous young man, but he just called down a lightning bolt and they halted in their tracks.

“Jirou!” Kaminari yelled, his voice barely reaching her over the now howling wind and rain “I’m going to try something, on my mark, jump as high as you can!” Jirou looked concerned, but nodded. Kaminari raced forwards, trying not to feel intimidated by Izuku as he stood there nonchalantly. “NOW!” Kaminari roared.

Jirou leapt as high as she could, and Kaminari yelled “Indiscriminate shock!” He proceeded to unleash as much electricity as he possibly could. Izuku watched in slow motion as the volts crackled along towards him. They entered through his feet and raced up into Mjolnir, guided by Izuku’s own will.

Jirou landed, and looked on in disbelief as Izuku just stared back, unfazed. “ A valiant effort. Why don’t I return the favor, little hero? ” He pointed his hammer towards Kaminari and sent out another lightning bolt. This time Kaminari’s brain was too overloaded to dodge. The boy cried out and vibrated as the energy surged through him, more powerful than he had ever felt before.

Kaminari regained his ability to think properly and looked down at his hands. They sparked as electricity arced between his fingertips. “That was awesome! Do it again!” He said, a huge smile on his face.

Izuku gave a deep belly laugh “ Maybe next time Kaminari. For now it is time that you two say goodbye ” Izuku brought Mjolnir in front of himself and swung it in tight circles. This created heavy winds that pushed the two other teens back. With the wet roof, they didn’t stand a chance. They flew off of the roof and into a bouncy castle that Yaoyorozu had created specifically for that moment.

TIME IS UP! VILLAINS WIN! ” All Might called over the coms. Izuku lifted Mjolnir and sent out a bolt of electricity, stopping the storm in its tracks. Izuku walked over to Yaoyorozu who was still having trouble standing. “Would you like some help getting back? You look worn out” He asked, offering her a hand. She blushed at the boy’s lack of dress, but accepted his help readily.

~LATER~

Izuku was walking back to the locker rooms when Kaminari called out to him. “Hey bro, what you did with that lightning earlier was awesome! I’ve never felt like that before. We’d make a great hero team! Even if you’d kinda steal the spotlight…”

Izuku gave the boy a half smile and set his hand on the blonde’s shoulder. “With Mjolnir I’m unfortunately going to be the center of attention for a lot of my life, but I can’t wait to work with you in the future. You’re totally correct, we are going to be an amazing hero team!” Kaminari gave him a huge smile, and the two talked as they walked back to class, trading stories of their respective powers when they were children.

Chapter Text

The next morning Izuku and Akatani were riding the train to school and Izuku was telling him about the events of the previous day. As the two approached UA, they saw a large crowd of reporters harassing students as they tried to pass through the gate. “C’mon SparkPlug, I know of another way to get in.” Akatani said, motioning for Izuku to follow.

As they turned towards the side of UA’s wall, Izuku saw Uraraka walking hesitantly towards the gate. “Hey Uraraka!” The blue eyed boy called. Uraraka paused and looked over. “My brother knows how to get in!” Izuku smiled. Uraraka looked from Izuku to Akatani for a moment before running over to the two.

“Thank you!” She said, “Midoriya I didn’t know you had a brother!”

“Aw, are you ashamed of me little brother?” Akatani asked teasingly. He hooked his arm around Izuku’s neck in a choke hold and began to rub the top of the boy’s head with his knuckles “You haven’t told your friends about your totally rad older brother huh? HUH?” Izuku laughed along, jokingly pushing back against the other teen’s onslaught.

“Uraraka, meet Akatani. He’s a third year here.” Izuku said after he had escaped from his brother’s chokehold.

“Wow!” Uraraka replied, looking at Akatani with amazement “What’s it like almost being a pro hero?”

Akatani chuckled “I’m not in the hero course, that’s Lightning Bug’s job.” He nudged Izuku with his shoulder “I’m in the business course, so I’ll be in charge of this moron’s agency.”

“Lightning Bug?” Uraraka asked, suppressing the urge to laugh.

Izuku rolled his eyes and pushed his brother away good naturedly “He has tons of nicknames for me. And I might join an agency Akatani, who knows if or when I’ll start one of my own.”

Akatani wacked Izuku upside the head “You’re the new god of thunder! Of course you’re going to have your own agency!” Izuku grumbled a bit and Uraraka giggled at the brothers’ actions. “Ah we’re here!” Akatani announced, gesturing to a gate on the side of the wall. This one was much smaller than the one in the front of the school, but they noticed that there were other third and second year students entering through it. After they passed through the gate, Akatani split off from the two hero students, claiming that he had to go meet up with some friends. The wink that he shot Izuku suggested otherwise.

The two teens chatted as they walked to their class. They were the first ones to arrive in the classroom, courtesy of the crowd of reporters. They continued to talk about everything and nothing at all as they waited for their classmates to get there. After about ten minutes, the rest of the students began to trickle in. It wasn’t until 5 minutes after the bell that Aizawa walked in, looking more tired than usual.

“Today you will be choosing a class president. I don’t care how you do it, just get it done.” Aizawa deadpanned. He then proceeded to crawl into his sleeping bag and fell asleep. The teens began to argue amongst themselves about who would be the best president, but Asui interrupted them by suggesting that they take a vote.

Izuku shrugged and wrote down Iida’s name. His affinity for the rules made Izuku feel as though the blue haired boy would be the best person for the job. Iida counted the votes, and Izuku was shocked to find that he had received 4 votes. He looked around the room in confusion. Yaoyorozu came in second with 2 votes. They were the only people who got more than one vote.

“Um thank you guys.” Izuku said, rubbing his head awkwardly “I just don’t know why you picked me of all people to be your president.”

Yaoyorozu raised an eyebrow next to him “Midoriya, you’re incredibly strong, you’re outstanding with strategy, you’re very well versed in combat, and you wield Mjolnir. You are obviously fit to lead us into being heroes.” The class nodded and murmured in ascent.

Aizawa took that time to wake up and slink over to them. He glanced at the board, blinked, and turned towards the class. “Alright, Midoriya is your president and Yaoyorozu is your vice president. Now let’s get on with the lecture.” Thankfully Aizawa wasn’t as boring when he was teaching as he was tired, so the class passed by quickly.

When it was time for lunch, Izuku sat with Iida, Uraraka, Asui, Yaoyorozu, and Jirou. “I just don’t get it.” Izuku said, holding his head in his hands as he stared at his food. “Who would have voted for me?”

Iida shoveled a bit of food into his mouth. Uraraka looked off into the distance and whistled nervously. Asui looked between the two and ribbeted “Isn’t it obvious? Iida, Uraraka, you, and I voted for you.” Izuku squinted at the other two who continued their actions, this time with a bit more sweating.

“I didn’t vote for myself though...” Izuku frowned.

“I voted for you.” Yaoyorozu said simply, much to the shock of the other teens. “I already told you why I thought that you were best for the job, that wasn’t just me making things up.” Izuku rubbed the back of his head and blushed a bit.

“Who did you vote for then Midoriya?” Jirou asked, pointing her fork at the boy accusingly.

“I thought that Iida would be a good president, so I voted for him.” Izuku replied. Iida smiled happily. He was about to say something when suddenly an alarm went off. The lunch room was immediately thrown into chaos as students rushed to exit the building. “Akatani!” Izuku called, seeing his brother in the confusion “What’s going on?!”

“There’s been a break-in!” Akatani cried over the noise “We have to evacuate!” Izuku’s lunch table got up and quickly followed the third year student. The hall was filled to the brim with people, and Izuku could tell that it was getting dangerous. Uraraka began to get swept away, but he grabbed her hand and pulled her back to their group. Uraraka looked out of the window and saw that it was just the press. She tugged on Izuku’s hand and showed him the view from the window.

Izuku lifted Mjolnir and thunder shook the building. This caused the other kids to quiet down. “It’s alright everyone!” Izuku shouted “It’s just the reporters from outside! Everyone calmly exit the building, the heroes will take care of everything!”

The students began to leave in a more relaxed manner and Izuku breathed a sigh of relief. It wasn’t until Akatani looked back at the two and gave them a devilish smile that Izuku realized they were still holding hands. He blushed heavily and quickly let go, but Uraraka was more focused on getting out of the building, so she continued to hold tightly to his hand.

When they finally got out, Uraraka noticed that Izuku looked like a strawberry because of how hard he was blushing. She looked down at their interlocked hands and began to blush just as hard. She whipped her hand away from Izuku’s. “WELL WE SHOULD GET BACK TO CLASS'' She announced much louder than necessary.

“YES, THAT IS A GREAT IDEA” Izuku replied. The two mechanically walked towards their classroom, Akatani howling with laughter at their embarrassment.

Chapter Text

“Today we will be doing a rescue exercise” Aizawa said “Get dressed in your hero suits and meet me down at the busses. When they got there, Iida suggested that they choose partners for the bus, but a quick check inside revealed that that wouldn’t be useful.

As they rode on the bus, Asui spoke up “Midoriya, I usually say what’s on my mind. How did you know that you were worthy of Thor’s hammer?” Izuku looked down at the cosmic weapon in question. It simply hummed in reassurance, as if sensing his nervousness.

“I didn’t” Izuku replied “I’m sure you all saw the news that day and the clip they showed of me picking Mjolnir up.” The class nodded, and Bakugo growled under his breath. “Well the truth is Bakugo was in trouble and I couldn’t stop myself from trying to help. I threw my backpack at the villain that was holding him and I noticed that it threw him off balance. I looked for something else to throw and accidentally grabbed Mjolnir. The rest is history”

“Oh yeah I remember seeing that! Bakubro, was that really you?” Kirishima asked, giving the blonde a questioning stare. Bakugo didn’t respond, but the shameful way he turned away said all that they needed to know.

They joked around for a bit longer before they arrived at their destination. They all shuffled off of the bus and into a large domed building. Izuku heard a little ping coming from his pocket. He fished out his phone as the class was addressed by Thirteen. He normally would have paid more attention, but there were only four people that could have been texting him, and it would have to be an emergency for any of them to be interrupting his class.

It was a text from Valkyrie. “ Kid, something’s wrong. One of my scouts reported that there’s an old Asguardian ship heading to Earth. We don’t know who it could be. Call me as soon as you can. We have to talk about Thor’s past. ” Izuku typed out a response, but when he hit send it gave him an error message.

He looked up and saw that there was commotion by the fountain. “Mr. Aizawa.” He said, pointing towards the purple mist that was billowing around the courtyard. His teacher turned to watch as people exited the mist dressed in sinister costumes. Kaminari asked if it was a part of their training, his voice shaking a little.

“No.” Aizawa replied, loosening his scarves. “Those are real villains.” The class began to panic. “Thirteen, get the kids to the bus. I’ll handle the villains.” The other pro began to herd the students toward the door, but Izuku stayed by Aizawa’s side.

“You can’t defeat them all by yourself sensei.” Izuku stated, looking out over the group of villains.

“A hero isn’t a one trick pony.” Aizawa replied smoothly.

“Yes, but there are too many. Even for you.” The two stared at each other for a few seconds before a voice rang out from behind them. It was the mist villain from the courtyard. He said something about not allowing the class to leave. “I’ll take care of this. Buy us some time, but please be careful sensei.” Izuku said.

“I should be the one saying that.” Aizawa huffed. He raced down the steps as Izuku ran toward the mist villain. Bakugo and Kirishima attacked the villain, but they disappeared inside of the villain’s body.

“I apologize, but I must separate you now. We can’t have all of the golden eggs in one basket.” The villain said. He expanded his mist form and Izuku found himself falling in a pitch black void. When he opened his eyes again he found himself falling towards a large body of water. With a swing of Mjolnir he flew in the direction of a nearby boat. He looked to his left and saw Asui come out of a portal in the sky as well. He quickly changed course and grabbed a hold of her hand.

Together they landed safely on the ship. Izuku looked around. He noticed that they were still in the USJ, but they were in a man-made lake. “Kero, it looks like we’re surrounded.” Asui croaked. Izuku peered over the side of the boat. There were a bunch of villains all floating in the water around them.

“Well one thing is certain.” Izuku said, rubbing his chin. Asui gave him a questioning stare. “They don’t know our, well your, quirk. After all, why would they send a frog and the god of thunder to a lake?” The mutant girl raised an eyebrow and croaked in agreement.

Izuku got on the railing of the boat and made his voice as loud as possible “ Villains. I am Izuku Midoriya and I am the wielder of Mjolnir. I suggest you get out of the water now and leave this place. I would not like to hurt you .” Once the villains realized that Izuku could fry them all with a tilt of his hand, they swam as fast as they could for the shore.

“Come Asui, we should get back to the others if possible.” Izuku held out his hand for the girl. She grabbed a hold of his arm, and Izuku flew them to the edge of the lake. When they arrived there he paused, the scene in front of him rattling him to his very core.

Aizawa was fighting a villain with hands covering his body. The man touched Aizawa’s arm, and it began to disintegrate. Thankfully their teacher escaped from the villain’s grasp, but the damage had been done. “Nomu.” The villain sighed, apparently bored “Kill Eraserhead for me.” Izuku watched in slow motion as a hulking black mass crushed his teacher.

The monstrous villain slammed Aizawa into the concrete. It lifted its hand, Eraserhead a ragdoll in its fist. Izuku felt something well up inside of him. He whipped Mjolnir as hard as he could at the Nomu. The cosmic hammer knocked the beast clean off of its feet. Aizawa fell, but Izuku was there to catch him. “I told you to be careful.” Izuku said sternly. His teacher chuckled weakly in his arms. “I… should be… the one… saying that” He choked out.

“Nomu!? Get up!!” The hand villain screeched as Izuku calmly strode towards Asui. No matter how hard the beast struggled, it would never be worthy of lifting Mjolnir.

“Asui, please take Mr. Aizawa to Thirteen.” Izuku handed their injured teacher to the frog girl.

“But what about you?” She asked.

I am going to show them the might of Thor. ” Izuku replied, lightning peeling from his body.

Something was wrong. Very wrong. Valkyrie knew Izuku well, and she knew damned well that he didn’t leave someone on read. Especially when they said it was important. She hastily kissed her wife goodbye, hopped into her jet, and took off towards Japan. She hoped that she was wrong about this, but it was better to be safe than sorry, right? Besides, any excuse to see the brat was worth it.

Izuku lifted his hand and Mjolnir flew to it. He blurred over to the Nomu and swung his hammer into the monster’s knee. The blow didn’t seem to faze the beast. It threw a punch at Izuku, but the god just caught its fist.

The teen slammed Mjolnir into the Nomu’s stomach three times. The first time it didn’t move. The second time its chest rippled from the force. The third time it slid back an inch in the ground. “It’s hopeless hero!” The hand villain cackled “The Nomu was designed to beat All Might! It has shock absorption and super strength, not to mention its regeneration!”

Izuku paid him no heed. He leapt back, allowing the Nomu to follow him. With both hands he swung Mjolnir up into the villain’s jaw, its teeth clacking together with a harsh click. The hero in training kicked the beast’s knee, causing it to stumble backwards. Izuku then spun in place, using Mjolnir to increase his speed significantly. With a mighty swing, he slammed the cosmic hammer into the Nomu’s chest. Both monster and weapon went flying.

The Nomu landed with a hearty crash and Izuku was on it in a moment. He threw punch after punch into the villain’s face. Lightning raced around his body, giving him extra strength and speed. Soon blood was flying out of the Nomu’s jaw. The Nomu grabbed Izuku by the cape and threw him away.

Izuku landed on his feet and recalled Mjolnir. The Nomu leapt to its feet and sprinted at the god of thunder. Izuku met it head on. He ducked under a punch and swung his hammer into the Nomu’s side. The beast flew back, but landed on all fours. It clawed its way towards him, running like an animal.

Izuku raised Mjolnir to the sky and called forth a bolt of lightning. It struck the Nomu, but the monster shrugged it off. The villain jumped at Izuku, but the teen flew above it and slammed Mjolnir into its head. The Nomu rocketed into the ground. It quickly recovered and prepared its final attack. It once again leapt for the blue eyed boy. “ Plus ULTRA! ” Izuku roared, and with one last swing knocked the Nomu out of the USJ.

That was when the doors to the USJ burst open. Valkyrie stormed into the building, spear and shield in hand. “WHERE IS MY S- IZUKU MIDORIYA?!” The ancient warrior yelled. Behind her All Might rushed in, his classic smile gone from his face. “ I AM HERE ” He announced, tearing off his tie. They both paused at the scene before them.

“WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!” The hand villain shrieked, clawing at his neck with such vigor that he began bleeding profusely. Izuku allowed himself to float to the ground gently. As he slowly walked towards the villain, he felt something come over him. It reminded him of when he picked up Mjolnir. Two voices joined his own and almost spoke through him. “ I AM MAGNI, SON OF THOR, SON OF ODIN! I AM THE GOD OF THUNDER! AND I AM THE RIGHTFUL KING OF ASGARD! ” Izuku announced, his father’s, and his grandfather’s voices booming in tandem with his own. He raised Mjolnir to the sky and a bolt of lightning struck him.

When it dissipated he no longer wore his father’s armor. The suits of Asgaurdian armor that he normally donned always felt like they had been cinched too tight or not tight enough for him. This armor felt like a second skin. He could feel his power thrumming through it. He wore dark green, almost black scalemail like his father’s armor, but instead of silver buttons, he had gold lines that trailed from his gold belt to his shoulders. A cape fluttered behind him, the side facing his body was gold while the outside was the same green of his armor. His arms were bare except for golden bracers on his forearms. His legs were covered in the same scale armor with three golden bands circling them. His boots were gold and came up to his mid calf. Finally the outfit was topped off with a golden circlet with wings that stuck out on the sides of his head.

You are a danger to my friends and my people .” Izuku said, his head held high “ Come and challenge me, mortal .” The hand villain stumbled back in confusion, not used to this level of confidence in his foes. He was about to charge forwards when All Might and Valkyrie walked up behind Izuku, three of the strongest beings on the planet. The mist villain quickly swooped in and teleported them away from the heroes. The last thing that the villains saw before they escaped was Mjolnir flying towards them.

We finally get to learn the backstory of what happened to Thor! I hope that you guys enjoy!!

Chapter Text

“When were you going to tell us that you were the son of Thor?” All Might asked with a tired sigh. Izuku was sitting on a couch in the heroes office, Valkyrie paced behind him angrily, muttering curses in Norse.

“I’m sorry” Izuku said, looking down.

“Sorry? You’re sorry?! Kid there are so many things about Thor that you need to know now! I  mean where do I even begin?” Valkyrie ranted, swinging her arms around frantically.

“I’m sorry” Izuku sunk even lower into his seat. “I didn’t know until I picked up Mjolnir. My mother hid it from me, and when she told me.... Well we’re not on great terms.” Valkyrie stopped in place. She looked at the boy on the couch, because in the end that was what he was. He may have lifted a cosmic hammer. He may be next in line for the throne of Asgard, but in the end he was just a kid.

“I’m sorry kid” Valkyrie sighed. She set a hand on his shoulder “I… I know it must have been hard for you. I don’t blame you for keeping it from us, I’m sure you were confused and needed to process everything. I just wish we had known sooner.”

All Might nodded in agreement. “Young Midoriya, I think I need to tell you the story of what happened to your father. What really happened.” Izuku looked at the hero in surprise. All Might took a deep breath and began his tale.

“Hello All Might, my old friend.” Thor said as he landed next to the pro. All Might couldn’t bring himself to smile at the man, he had too much on his mind. “It is time?” Thor asked. All Might simply nodded. They stood in front of a large building in the middle of a mountain range. “Then let us defeat this foe, for the good of Earth.” Thor rumbled.

The two heroes burst into the building. They fought together through hordes of villains, but finally they reached the top. Rain poured down around them. Thunder and lightning shook the building. “ Greetings All Might, it is so nice to see you again. Hail Thor! I have been wanting to meet you for some time. After all, gods need to know each other, yes? ” All for One chuckled. His red eyes glowed toxically in the dark of the night.

YOU ARE NO GOD! ” All Might roared. He surged towards the villain “ YOU ARE A MONSTER!

“NO!” Thor yelled, All for One threw a massive punch, but Thor was there to block it with Mjolnir. The three men fought. Each traded blows, but the heroes were definitely pushing the false god back. That was until All for One made a desperate attack.

The villain lashed out with a fist, and All Might watched as it rocketed towards his face. Before it could hit him, Thor stepped in. He took the blow, and it would be his last. Not only did it have all of All for One’s strength, it had also hit a vulnerable place in his armor. The hundreds of years of fighting finally caught up to the god of thunder and Thor flew to the edge of the building, Mjolnir launched far over the horizon to its resting place in Japan. All Might rushed to his fallen companion. Blood trickled from the ancient hero’s lips.

He chuckled weakly, his left hand grasping All Might’s own. “My… friend...” Thor said “Find… my child… tell them… that I am proud of them… and I will... always be with them…” And with that, the god of thunder breathed his last.

All Might rose to his feet. The death of two of his closest friends fueled his anger. One for All roared inside of him like an ocean of fire. He gently laid the hero in his arms upon the roof and shut his eyes for the final time. His cry of anguish rattled the very mountains, stronger than any thunder ever heard on Earth.

All for One barely had time to react as All Might blurred in front of him. The grieving hero struck out with one punch. Then two. Then ten. Then 100. He knocked the villain through mountains and across miles. All for One lashed out, his fist passing through the giant man’s torso and rending his flesh, but All Might paid it no heed. He continued to rain blows on the villain like a typhoon, his bloody fists showing no mercy, and with one final strike, the symbol of peace brought down All for One. He screamed once more for his fallen friend before the bloodloss took its toll and he passed out.

~PRESENT DAY~

Tears streamed down Izuku’s face as he was told the demise of his father. All Might buffed up to his hero form and bowed to Izuku, his head touching the floor in the ultimate form of apology. “ I AM SORRY YOUNG MIDORIYA

Izuku stood up, his cape swishing behind him. He approached the bowing hero. “ Toshinori Yagi ,” He said, his voice laced with regal power. “ You risked your life to protect the former king of Asgard, my father. You have trained me, the new king of Asgard. You have spent your years serving and protecting this world and its inhabitants. From this day on, by the power vested in me, you will now and forever be known as an honorary Asguardian. Rise, Makt, first of your line .” Izuku held Mjolnir over All Might’s right and left shoulder before backing away.

The large man looked up at Izuku in confusion, but the boy that he normally saw in his features was gone. In its place was a king; confident, powerful, but kind and humble. Toshinori Yagi, All Might, Makt, rose from the floor and bowed to his king. He was unable to hold his buff form any longer, but his words still carried his feelings “Thank you. I will do my best to serve you and our people well.”

Valkyrie smiled from behind Izuku. She was unsure of his claim to being king of Asgard at first, but seeing him now, there was no doubt. “Sure kid, I’ll give up being queen for you. No biggie.” Izuku whipped around, confused and scared, his bravado gone. Valkyrie chuckled “Your father put me in charge of New Asgard after the Snap 200 years ago, but it’s gotten old. I’ll still take care of them in your place, but I’m fine with you being the king in name and status.”

“Oh haha...” Izuku laughed awkwardly, he hadn’t thought about that. The three Asgaurdians talked for a while longer before Izuku had to head home. On his way he saw Uraraka sitting on the stairs in front of the building. She hadn’t been injured in the attack and interviews had finished hours ago, so there wasn’t really any reason for her to still be there.

“Uraraka, are you ok?” Izuku asked. The girl in question shot up in surprise. She ran up to him and pulled him into a fierce hug. The boy blushed heavily, but patted her back softly. She held him tight for a few minutes before backing away sheepishly.

“I’m sorry, I was just really worried about you. I saw your confrontation with the villains and I didn’t know if you were hurt or anything.” She said, looking down at her shoes bashfully.

Izuku smiled “I’m ok. I’m sorry that I worried you.”

“No no it’s ok! I was worried about everyone, it’s just that you were on the front lines more and I didn’t really see you after the teachers got there.” Uraraka hurriedly replied. She rubbed her arm and they stood there in awkward silence. “So I’m confused.” She said “You said to the villains that your name was Modi? Right? I thought it was Midoriya.”

“Oh haha. You’re right, my legal name is Izuku Midoriya. What you heard me tell them was my Asgardian name, Magni, not Modi. As I’m sure you heard, I’m the son of Thor. It’s just a coincidence that I also picked up Mjolnir.” Izuku lifted the hammer and smiled.

“I see…” Uraraka studied him. “And what’s with the new armor? I’ve never heard of Thor dressing up like that.”

Izuku looked down at the armor he was still wearing. He had kind of forgotten it was there, he felt so comfortable in it. “W-well I had been wearing my father’s armor, so it never fit quite right. This is my armor. I’m… not really sure how it works, but this is the armor that was made for me.”

Uraraka nodded. They sat on the steps waiting for Uraraka’s parents to arrive and take her home, chatting the night away. Meanwhile an evil grew ever closer to Earth, and it was not happy.

Chapter Text

Classes had been canceled for the next day, so Izuku decided to pay a visit to his father’s monument. After his death, Thor was buried in New Asgard, but Japan erected a large statue for the man in a large park. Thor had spent a lot of time in Japan; Izuku realized that this was likely because of his mother. He reached the monument and set down the flowers he had brought. He was unfortunately not alone, but that didn’t stop him from admiring his father’s visage.

The statue was of his father in battle, one arm raised above his head holding Mjolnir as if to call forth a bolt of lightning. His braided beard hung down to the middle of his chest. His hair was not braided, but hung down to about the same length on his back. His armor was the version that Izuku had been using as his hero costume, his father’s first set of armor.

Izuku lifted Mjolnir and stared at his reflection in the hammer’s polished surface. He had spent a lot of time working on the hammer and bonding with it. He was unsure if it was truly alive, but it never hurt to be certain. A crowd had gathered around the statue and they were all looking at him. People were taking pictures and videos, commenting on the new god of thunder visiting the old.

That was when the statue blew up.

Izuku acted quickly. He spun Mjolnir, blowing the debris away from the pedestrians that were around him. He lifted the cosmic weapon and lightning struck him. When it faded he emerged in his armor, the gold inlays shining proudly in the sun. He looked up and saw a spaceship hovering just above the city.

It fired a second lazer, but this time Izuku was ready. He swung Mjolnir and launched the beam back at the ship, as if he were playing tennis. The lazer harmlessly bounced off of the ship’s shields. The spaceship began to lower itself. “Run! Get out of here!” Izuku cried, waving for all of the civilians to leave. They scattered as the ship landed in the park.

Izuku scowled at the ship. He spun Mjolnir and flung it forwards, flying towards the vessel. When he reached the opening door, he stopped and used Mjolnir to hover in place. From the ship came two beings. The first was a small sniveling alien. It was human-like in appearance, but it was small, barely 3 feet tall. It had green skin and pointy ears with a flat face that lacked a nose. It seemed to be crying as it exited the craft. Behind it came what looked to be a human teen.

He had long, ratty black hair that fell to his shoulders. He appeared to be wearing a lot of eye shadow, the undersides of his eyes a charcoal black. His skin was deathly pale, as if he had not seen the sun in decades. He was wearing a black bodysuit with green highlights. It reminded Izuku of his own armor.

The more human of the two beings looked up at him confidently, then to Mjolnir spinning in his hand. “So you are the one laying claim to my throne?” His voice was calm, but subtly laced with rage.

Izuku frowned “I don’t know what you mean, but that does not matter. You have destroyed the monument to my father and attacked civilians. You are under arrest!”

The other boy began to laugh, his voice growing higher and higher “So! Thor was your father? I guess that makes us… cousins.” Izuku’s eyes widened. The other teen sauntered off of the ship with an evil smile “You see, cousin, my mother was the rightful queen of Asgard. Hela!”

Izuku blinked. He… didn’t know of any Hela. That was when his mind flashed back to the text he had gotten from Valkyrie just before the USJ incident. She had wanted to talk about Thor’s past and a ship headed for Earth. Guess she must have forgotten it in the commotion of the day. “I do not know who this Hela is, but my father was the king of Asgard. As his son I have the responsibility to be the next king.”

Izuku’s cousin froze. His eyes twitched and his hands clenched as he scowled at Izuku. “I am Forfall Helason! I am the rightful king of Asgard! And no snot nose, hammer wielding, thunderous BRAT IS GOING TO GET IN MY WAY!” With that, Forfall clapped his hands together and drew them apart, a sword seemed to unfold from his hands. He grabbed the blade and launched it at Izuku.

Izuku batted the weapon away, watching as it flew harmlessly into the ground. He turned his attention back to Forfall just in time to see the boy flying towards him, another sword in hand. Izuku swung Mjolnir into the weapon, shattering the blade. He used his momentum to spin around and slam his left elbow into Forfall’s face.

The son of Hela crashed to the ground, but quickly got up. Izuku raised Mjolnir and shot out a bolt of lightning. Forfall dodged it effortlessly and the two boys raced towards each other. They met with a clash, Mjolnir and one of Forfall’s swords sending off sparks as they pushed against each other. Forfall tried to stab Izuku with a knife in his off hand, but Izuku just leapt back.

The pale teen followed after him, swiping with the sword and the knife in a whirlwind of blades. Izuku stopped and thrust his hammer straight forwards, the cosmic weapon slamming into Forfall’s chest and sending the boy tumbling head over heels away from the son of Thor. Izuku jumped after the teen, Mjolnir raised above his head in both hands. Forfall rolled out of the way as Izuku slammed the hammer into the ground, lightning striking the area he had struck.

The teens backed away from each other, panting heavily. Forfall’s eyes suddenly darted to the side. He smiled an evil smile and ran away from Izuku. Izuku saw his new target, a father and child that were frozen with fear in front of a shop. Izuku quickly flew after the devious young man. Izuku reached out a hand and grabbed Forfall’s sword just before it reached the two innocents. “RUN!” He cried, blood trickling from his hand.

The father scooped up his child and raced away. Forfall used this opportunity to try and stab Izuku, but the knife glanced off of his armor as he moved out of the way. Izuku raised Mjolnir, and almost hit Forfall, but the teen dodged away just in time. Izuku crushed the sword in his hand, but Forfall just created another.

Izuku called forth another bolt of lightning, and once again the son of Hela dodged, but this time Izuku was there with Mjolnir. He slammed the hammer into Forfall’s side, sending the boy tumbling back into the park. Forfall roared in frustration and charged at Izuku. Izuku raced to meet him, already swinging Mjolnir. He dodged around Forfall’s attacks and swung his hammer into the teen’s chin.

The son of Hela flew back and crashed against his ship. He shook his head and growled in anger. He suddenly threw his weapons at Izuku, but the god of thunder moved out of their path. That was when he saw a young hero behind him. They had obviously come because of the commotion, but now they were in grave danger, and judging from their costume their quirk would be unable to stop the blades.

Izuku wouldn’t make it this time. But Mjolnir would! The son of Thor flung his hammer to intercept the blades, the cosmic weapon breaking the sword and knife as they flew through the air. Izuku turned back to his fight, only for his cousin to slash his face with a new sword. Izuku pulled his head back in time to save himself from dying, but it was too late to save his eye. He stumbled back in pain, his left eye leaking blood. Forfall threw a knife into Izuku’s shin, causing the son of Thor to fall to the ground.

Forfall stood over Izuku and thrust his sword down at the now one eyed teen. Izuku barely caught the blade, struggling to keep it from piercing his head. The two Asgardians fought for dominance, Izuku steadily losing strength.

The sword was just about to slip between Izuku’s hands when Mjolnir crashed through the middle of the blade. Izuku and Forfall froze. They looked to where the hammer had come from, and saw Inko Midoriya shaking with fear and anger. She raised her hand and Mjolnir flew back to her. She caught her husband’s weapon and scowled at her nephew. “No one touches MY BABY!” She roared.

Chapter Text

“No one touches MY BABY!” Inko Midoriya roared, Mjolnir in hand. Izuku’s good eye widened in surprise before he shook himself back into the fight. He lashed out with a lightning-covered foot, striking Forfall in the chest. He leapt up as the other teen stumbled backwards.

Forfall attempted to swing a new sword at his cousin, but Inko threw Mjolnir again, shattering the half formed blade. Izuku pulled the knife out of his leg and snapped it in two before unleashing a burst of electricity from his body. The lightning blew Forfall onto his back. He rolled away from a lightning-powered stomp from Izuku, but before he could capitalize on his cousin’s attack, Inko recalled Mjolnir. The hammer knocked Forfall over once more.

Forfall launched a knife at Inko, but Izuku caught the blade and broke it in his hand, lightning flaring in his anger. He grabbed his cousin’s shoulder and threw him through a nearby tree. Forfall groaned in pain and fury as he scrambled to stand. He created another sword and danced out of Mjolnir’s way as Inko sent it hurtling towards him again.

Forfall ducked under a punch thrown by Izuku and sliced the boy’s exposed arm. The son of Thor hissed in pain and pulled back. The pale villain made to stab his cousin, but Inko used her quirk to pull the sword out of the way just in time, then she threw Mjolnir again. Forfall leapt over the hammer, but Izuku caught it and used it to break Forfall’s sword.

Forfall summoned two knives and slashed at Izuku. The god of thunder broke the blades before kicking Forfall away. The evil asgardian got up, and created a sword. Izuku and Forfall clashed, blade locking with hammer. Forfall twisted his sword and managed to disarm his cousin, but before he could capitalize on that, Inko recalled Mjolnir.

Izuku used this moment to grab his cousin by the neck and throw him to the ground. He crushed the boy’s blade and was about to pin him, when Forfall spoke up.

“Gnolb, you useless sack of shit! Get out here before I kill your wife!” The son of Hela roared “Would you stop puttering around and get rid of that damned woman!” Izuku heard a gasp and spun to see a blade sticking out of his mother’s chest. She looked down, Mjolnir falling from her grasp. The knife was withdrawn from her chest and she collapsed to the ground, blood spilling from her lips. Behind where she stood was the small alien that had come with Forfall. It was shaking and crying as it looked at the blood on its blade.

MOM!! ” Izuku roared in fury. He flashed over to the small creature and kicked it away from his mother. It crashed into a building, the wall breaking down around it. Izuku followed after, lightning peeling off of him and sizzling the concrete around him. “P-p-please!” Gnolb cried, raising his hands up in surrender “H-h-he would have k-k-killed m-me! H-h-he would h-h-have my w-w-wife!”

Izuku looked down at the small alien with disgust. “ She was worth ten of you ” He raised his hand to call Mjolnir. He sat there for a few seconds before looking down at his hand. Mjolnir hadn’t come. Forfall burst through the wall next to him and stabbed the confused teen through his chest with a sword. Izuku gasped out in pain as Forfall kicked him back out into the park, yanking the sword from the boy’s chest. The son of Thor rolled to a stop next to his mother and weapon.

He lifted his hand to recall Mjolnir, but the hammer didn’t budge. The hero he had saved earlier came racing over. “S-save… her…” Izuku said weakly. The hero nodded and grabbed his mother. They ran off, holding his mother gently in their arms. Izuku slowly crawled his way over to Mjolnir. He heard Forfall laughing in the background as his hand reached the handle. Despite the normal ease he had lifting his father’s weapon, Izuku could not move it an inch. “Wh...y? Why… do you… abandon me... Mjolnir?”

“Perhaps because it has realized that you are not the true king of Asgard!” His cousin gloated, kicking Izuku away from Mjolnir. Izuku groaned in pain when he came to a stop. Forfall stood over him and raised his sword. “Goodbye, cousin!” He smirked. Izuku closed his good eye, ready for the finishing blow.

When the blow didn’t come he opened his eye. He found that he was no longer bleeding out on the concrete, instead he was standing on the edge of a cliff. It was covered with grass and overlooking the ocean. “Where am I?” He asked himself, looking around.

“Norway.” A voice called from behind him. Izuku turned to see Thor standing there smiling at him. His left eye was covered by a black eyepatch, reminiscent of his battle with Hela. “Greetings my son.”

Izuku fell to his knees. “What’s going on father? Why can I… How are you here?”

Thor’s eye softened and his smile fell. “You are dying, my son. These are your last moments.” Thor walked slowly over to his son.

“Mjolnir… it won’t let me pick it up anymore… why?” Izuku stared up at his father pleadingly. Thor looked sad. He stood tall over his son and for the first time Izuku really understood why ancient humans thought he was a real god.

“My father once told me; a good king does not seek out battles, but is always ready for them. That alien that attacked your mother, you were about to kill it, yes?”

“Yes, but it… it stabbed mom!”

Thor shook his head “My son, it had no other choice. Its lover was in danger and there was nothing else it could do. It was simply protecting the one it loved. I hate it as much as you do for hurting your mother, but a good king would spare as many lives as he could.”

Izuku paused in thought. “So Mjolnir wouldn’t come back to me because… I was not worthy of wielding it anymore?” Izuku looked at his hands, tears welling up in his good eye.

“It was teaching you a lesson. You must be more than strong. You must be wise. You must not let your anger control you. Wield it like you do Mjolnir and strike only when you need to. As Valkyrie used to say, when all you have is a hammer every problem looks like a nail. Your anger is your hammer, your intellect is your knife, and your bravery is your shield. Only a king can use all three simultaneously.” Thor proclaimed, his eye twinkling mischievously. "Now, have you learned your lesson?"

“I have,” Izuku replied.

“Good.” Thor said, staring wistfully into the distance “Your grandfather blinded himself and hung from a tree for nine days to gain all of the wisdom in the universe. I was blinded and gained the wisdom to rule as king and use my powers without my weapon. I wonder what you will receive my son.”

Thor began to walk away, but Izuku’s voice stopped him. “I’m not as strong as you,” He said sadly.

Thor turned around, a smile on his face. He repeated the words his own father had said to him more than 200 years before. “No, you’re stronger.” With that Thor faded away. Izuku bowed his head and closed his eye.

“Goodbye, cousin!” Forfall smirked. Two ravens landed near Izuku, one on either side of his head. They crowed harshly. Forfall paid them no mind and lifted his sword up, ready to kill the son of Thor. Once again, Izuku heard the voice of his grandfather “ WHOSOEVER HOLDS THIS HAMMER- ” Izuku reached out for Mjolnir. “- IF HE BE WORTHY- ” Mjolnir flew into his hand, and he held it aloft “ -SHALL POSSESS THE POWER OF THOR ” Lightning struck Izuku, and he stood up.

His wounds had been cauterized, a temporary solution that would grant him just enough time to finish this fight. The ravens flew up and landed on Izuku’s shoulders. One chirruped softly and bumped Izuku’s head with its own. The other ruffled its feathers and crowed again. “ Hello there, Huginn, Muninn. Did my grandfather send you? ” The ravens cawed in affirmation.

“DON’T FORGET ABOUT ME COUSIN!” Forfall roared, swinging his sword at Izuku.

I have not. ” Izuku replied calmly. He knocked the sword away with Mjolnir. He then threw it into Forfall’s chest before recalling it. Forfall scrambled out of the way of a blast of lightning. Izuku slowly walked after Forfall as he crawled away from the god of thunder. “ Forfall Helason, you have attacked your king, attempted to usurp the throne, and attacked my mother. As king of Asgard, I find you guilty of treason and sentence you to life imprisonment.

“Not on your life!” Forfall roared, lunging at Izuku with a knife. One of the ravens, Huginn, flew off of Izuku’s shoulder and grabbed the dagger. Before Forfall could react, Muninn landed on his outstretched arm. It tilted its head and looked Forfall in the eyes.

Suddenly Forfall found himself in his worst memory. He looked around at the fiery plains of Muspelheim. The home of Hela’s killer, Asgard’s destroyer, and Forfall’s tormentor: Surtur. The fire giant had found out that Hela had a child before he had killed her in their battle long ago. Surtur grew angry at this and hunted Forfall down. For a century, he had chased the son of Hela for fun. Forfall had barely escaped with his life not 10 years ago. He had ruled the remains of Asgard, believing himself to be the strongest and last heir to the Asgardian throne. Now he was back, and Surtur wasn’t going to allow him to escape this time.

In the real world, Izuku watched as Forfall froze. Heroes began to arrive on the scene as Izuku grabbed Muninn off of his cousin’s outstretched arm. Muninn had put the boy under a spell; he would relive his worst memory until he was properly locked away. The heroes began to question Izuku, asking why he did what he did. Izuku calmly answered their questions until one of them noticed that he had a hole in his chest .

They loaded him into an ambulance, but had difficulty with Huginn and Muninn as the two birds wanted to come with their new master. “Follow the vehicle, my dear ones.” Izuku said “I trust them.” The two ravens did as they were told, even if they weren’t happy about it. The EMT told him that they would be putting him under anesthesia so that he wouldn’t have to feel the pain anymore. Izuku nodded and closed his eye. He would be fine, all he worried about was his mother.

Notes:

Chapter Text

When Izuku woke up next, he was lying in a hospital bed. “How are you feeling Sparkplug?” Akatani’s voice asked from somewhere in the room. Izuku sat up and saw his brother seated not too far away from the bed, a box of tissues emptied and crumpled next to him. Izuku looked around the room, noting Huginn and Muninn perched on his bed. Finally he saw his mother. She was still asleep on her own bed, her heart rate monitor beeping gently in time with Izuku’s.

“Did anyone catch the license plate of that bus?” Izuku replied jokingly, his voice hoarse. His brother gave him a weak smile and shook his head. He handed Izuku a cup of water and ordered him to drink it, his usual upbeat attitude subdued. “How is mom?” Izuku asked after he had drained the water.

Akatani sighed “She’s stable for now, but the doctors say that she’ll need to stay here for at least a week or two. She was in bad shape when she arrived… What happened out there kiddo?”

Izuku sat up, wincing at the lancing pain that wove through his chest “I was attacked by an Asguardian” Akatani’s eyes widened at that “He claimed to be my cousin. The son of Thor’s sister, Hela. He wanted to be the king of Asgard and saw me as an obstacle. He was about to kill me when mom stepped in.”

“Mom fought off a villain giving you trouble?” Akatani asked skeptically.

“She and I worked together. She used Mjolnir to help keep him at bay while I recovered enough to fight.” Izuku said, worried that if Akatani’s eyes widened anymore that they’d pop out of his head. “Unfortunately, Forall, my cousin, had an ally. Or maybe a hostage is more accurate. An alien. It stabbed mom in the back. I was distracted when I… beat it into submission, and Forfall was able to get the drop on me.”

Akatani put his head in his hands and sat silently for a few moments. Meanwhile, Izuku reached up to gently pet Huginn’s feathers and the raven gave him a look of reluctant satisfaction. After a while, Akatani looked back up at Izuku. “Alright… So what’s with your eye? And the crows?”

“Ravens” Izuku corrected, noticing the two birds become irritated at the unwitting slight. “They were my grandfather’s. They would travel the universe in search of whatever knowledge my grandfather desired… I lost my eye to Forfall, but gained wisdom and their help in its place.”

Akatani blew a gust of air out of his mouth “I mean I don’t really get it, but ok… must be an Asguardian thing” Izuku chuckled at his brother’s confused but supportive smile.

That was when the doctor entered. She glanced at the ravens warily, but did not mention them. “Good to see you awake Mr. Midoriya. I have good news and bad news for you regarding your condition, which would you like first?”

“I believe I already know what the bad news is, doctor, so we might as well check base with that first. If you don’t mind” Izuku answered simply, switching his petting to Munnin, much to the raven’s joy.

“Not at all. I’m afraid that we’ve done all that we could, but we could not save your eye. If you are unable to see out of it when the bandages come off, as we predict, then it is most likely that that eye will never see again.” The doctor frowned.

Izuku nodded “I had thought so. It is alright, I may have lost sight from one eye, but I have gained an all new perspective.” There was an odd glint in Munnin’s eye, but Akatani chose not to interrupt.

“As for the good news, the rest of your wounds have been healing on a scale unseen in someone without a regeneration quirk. You should be in perfect condition in time to go back to school on Monday.” The doctor stated confidently.

“I’m glad, I have much to discuss with my teachers” The half-blind boy smiled. The doctor returned his smile and, after checking on the boys’ mother’s vitals, left the room. As she left, a police officer entered.

“Greetings Mr. Midoriya. Are you free to answer some questions?” The officer asked, clearly unhappy to be bothering the bedridden teen.

“I don’t have much else to do at the moment, sir, so yes.” Izuku replied.

The officer took Izuku’s statement on what had transpired at the park. When he was finished, he put his notebook and pen into his breast pocket and sighed. “Thank you Mr. Midoriya, that should be all. While I was loath to question you while you are injured, I am pleased to inform you that you will not be charged with vigilantism for your actions. It was quite clear that you only acted in defense of yourself and others.”

“I’m glad, had you said that I was under arrest I’m not sure what I would have done!” Izuku said in an odd tone. The officer took that as nervousness and left. Akatani, being Izuku’s brother, recognized it for the subtle sarcasm that it was and facepalmed.

“You’re full of surprises, aren’t you little brother?” Akatani griped, an annoyed smile on his face. Izuku just chuckled at his brother’s bemusement.

~TIME SKIP~

When Izuku was finally cleared to leave the hospital, he and Akatani left in Akatani’s beat up old pickup truck. It didn’t take long for the pair to get home, but when they did they saw a very concerned looking Valkyrie pacing in front of their apartment’s door. From the looks of it she had been there for a while.

When she saw them, she grabbed both boys and pulled them into a tight hug. “I’m glad that you’re both alright.” As she pulled back, she noticed the eyepatch that Izuku wore and sighed “You get more and more like your father every day. I’m not so sure that that’s a good thing sometimes.”

Izuku and Akatani gave a small chuckle at this, and the trio went inside, Huginn and Muninn flying in behind them. Izuku explained what had transpired to Valkyrie, and she nodded sadly. “While I can’t confirm that he was your cousin, from what you’ve described Forfall’s powers were very similar to your Aunt Hela’s. I’m sorry Izuku, I forgot about that in all of the commotion with the USJ.”

“It’s alright, I know that you would have told me. Call this even for me not telling you about Dad.” The one eyed teen joked. Akatani groaned and Valkyrie rolled her eyes. “Do you want to stay for dinner?”

After a dinner full of soft conversation and small smiles, Valkyrie went home. She had been away too long and needed to check up on her wife. The boys took this opportunity to clean the house, knowing that it would help their mother relax when she returned home.

The apartment was silent for what was left of the weekend as the boys solemnly moved about their home. The only break from this void was when one of the ravens chirped, or when a particularly loud vehicle passed by. The next morning was more of this same subdued atmosphere, the quiet unbroken until they arrived at UA.

“I love you Izuku” Akatani said suddenly as they stood in front of the school, pulling the younger teen into a hug.

Izuku’s good eye widened at his brother’s uncharacteristic use of his name, before leaning into his brother’s embrace. “I love you too Akatani” With that they parted ways.

Chapter Text

Izuku fiddled with the white medical eyepatch that the hospital had given him. He was nervous about seeing his class; the fight with Forfall had been all over the news for the past few days. The only upbeat news was the planned restoration of the park and statue of his father.

Finally Izuku reached his classroom. He could hear his friends inside chatting about whatever suited their fancy. Before he could doubt himself, Huginn squawked from his place on Izuku’s left shoulder. Muninn followed his partner’s example and gently rubbed the side of Izuku’s head. Izuku smiled at the birds’ comforting gestures “Thank you, my dear ones”

With that he slid the door open as quietly as he could. Unfortunately, the fact that he was one of the last ones to arrive as well as Huginn’s cry had alerted the entire classroom to his presence. The students stood in total silence for a few seconds before all Hell broke loose.

The teens all began to shout questions at him about the fight before Aizawa threw the door open angrily. The class froze in shock and fear as their teacher stormed to the front of the room and glared at them. “No questions about what happened this weekend. If Midoriya wishes to tell you all about what transpired, he will. Period. As for you Midoriya” Aizawa turned his gaze upon the one-eyed teen.

Izuku stared back at him unfazed. Huginn and Muninn were clearly agitated, as if prepared to defend their master. “I’d like to thank you for your assistance at the USJ. You saved my life. I’m glad that you are… relatively alright after all that has transpired this weekend. I’m sorry about your eye, but if it impedes your hero work I’m afraid I will have to expel you from the course.”

The room exploded into protests and outrage at the man’s words. Huginn and Muninn looked as if they were ready to peck the man’s eyes out, but Izuku held up a hand to calm the class. When they had finished speaking, Izuku nodded “I understand sensei. Rest assured that my eye will cause me no deterrence. I will become a hero that my father can be proud of”

The teacher and student held gazes for a moment before Aizawa gave the boy a small smile “Good. Also leave your pets at home next time please”

“They are not my pets sensei. They are a part of my… powers” Izuku replied “They will help me to compensate for my missing eye by seeing for me.” Aizawa raised an eyebrow. Huginn turned his head to look at the man with one eye, and the once fully black orb now looked like a human’s eye. Izuku’s eye. The bird blinked, and its eye was back to normal. This all happened so fast Aizawa was unsure if he had imagined it.

“I see. I will look into accommodations for your new companions later. For now take your seat, homeroom is about to begin.” Aizawa ordered. As Izuku sat down, he noticed that the usual hatred that seemed to radiate off of Bakugo was… muted. If he didn’t know any better, he might have thought that the blonde felt bad for him.

“I’m afraid you don’t have much time to rest,” Aizawa announced. The class, which had just calmed down from all of the excitement around Izuku, exploded into murmurs and determined faces. After silencing them, Aizawa continued “The Sports Festival is coming up. I know that many of you are against the idea of it taking place so soon after the USJ attack, but the board of directors overrode my objections. Something about wanting to show that UA is not shaken by the events. It’s all a load of malarkey, but there’s not much we can do. Now let’s move on.” With that he made way for Present Mic to take over the class.

Their normal classes were uneventful, but lunch was a different matter.

Izuku was sitting with Iida, Uraraka, Tsu, and Kouda. Izuku was telling Uraraka and Iida of the battle that weekend, poking jokes with Uraraka wherever he could as Iida robotically chided their antics. Tsu was quietly relaxing and giggling at her friends’ silliness. Kouda had been trying to coax Huginn to speak; the boy had learned quickly that Muninn was the more talkative of the two ravens. Out of nowhere an elbow rammed into the back of Izuku’s head. This sent the birds tumbling from his shoulders onto the table. “Oh no! I’m sorry, I couldn’t move past your big head!” A voice called out in a mock apology.

Izuku turned half-way to see a blonde boy standing behind him with a lunch tray. “It’s just that you 1-A students think you’re so high and mighty after fighting a few villains! I’m not surprised that it all went to your head. After all, none of you faced any consequences for using your quirks illegally. You all really did get off lightly, huh? ” The teen sneered.

Izuku stood up slowly, the entire lunchroom quietly watching on. He turned to face the blonde, noticing his immediate change in demeanor after seeing Izuku’s eyepatch. “We were attacked by an army of villains meant to kill All Might and barely escaped with our lives” Izuku stated calmly. The room gasped at the words, but Izuku continued despite this “As for this weekend, a villain tried to kill me. He took my eye, stabbed me through the chest, and almost killed my mother.”

Izuku’s voice was beginning to shake with restrained anger as wind and dark clouds hurled ice against the lunchroom’s windows. “You say we have been acting high and mighty? No we haven’t. We have been acting upbeat and fearless to hide the terror that we felt when we were systematically split up from our teachers and friends, and almost killed by gangs of villains.”

The windows were now rattling from the sheer force of Izuku’s fury, his once calm face now a picture of cold rage. “You think we have faced no consequences? Try waking up in a cold sweat every night, thinking about the villain that almost turned you and your friends into dust. Try suffering the phantom pains from when your eye was sliced in half, never to see again. Try wondering if your mother will live long enough for you to apologize for the last argument you two had and the ‘I love you’-s that went unanswered.” Izuku gripped the front of the boy’s shirt with one hand, Mjolnir clutched tightly in the other as thunder shook the building and Izuku’s good eye sparked blue lightning. “I have faced plenty of consequences. Ones that I hope you will never have to experience, for your sake. It’s called empathy. Look it up, why don’t you?”

Izuku dropped the blonde and stormed off, Huginn and Muninn flying to his shoulders as he dumped his tray and left the lunchroom. The room was noiseless except for the soft tink of tears on metal as Kouda cried for his classmate. Tsu moved to comfort him and Uraraka stood from her seat, the grating of her chair like nails on a chalkboard.

“I don’t know what your problem is, but if you ever say something like that to my friends again, I’ll make you set the new world record for highest altitude without a spacesuit” The brunette growled, her glare towards the blonde as heated as Izuku’s was cold. She sprinted out of the cafeteria, desperately hoping to catch up with her friend.

She found him standing outside in the courtyard, the hail-turned-rain crashing down around him. She approached the one eyed boy as he gazed into the clouded sky. She didn’t say anything, simply opting to stand with him for a few moments. Huginn and Muninn circled restlessly in the air above them, seemingly unaffected by the harsh weather.

“You’ll catch a cold you know?” Izuku sighed after a moment, his good eye glancing down to look at her.

“Won’t you?” She shot back.

“I’m half Asguardian.” He replied as if that explained everything and looked back towards the sky.

“You’re half human.” Uraraka pointed out.

He hummed in response and waved his hand. The sky directly above them cleared, the sun basking them in warmth. “I’m sorry,” Izuku whispered, the phrase carrying so many meanings that Uraraka could almost touch it. Despite the rain no longer pouring over them, water slid down the side of his face.

“You have nothing to apologize for. You were right to be upset.” The teens sat silently for a moment. “She’ll be alright.” Uraraka declared.

“How do you know?” Izuku asked shakily.

“Because she has such a wonderful son to make up with,” She smiled. The boy sobbed once and clenched his fist over his eye in an attempt to hide his tears. Uraraka opened her arms and the blue eyed boy fell into them, his tears the rain and his sobs muffled thunder. They stayed there until the bell rang, silently soaking in each other’s support.

Hey guys. I'm so sorry. I know it's been so long. I've had a rough go of it. I got COVID, school was tough, I got my heart broken. I didn't have the time, energy, or brainpower to write. I'm starting to get back into it so hopefully I'll be able to be more consistent with my fic updates again! I hope that you all enjoy!

Chapter Text

The sports festival came quicker than any of class A would have liked. The two weeks were full of training, but it was all basic stuff to prepare them. The only thing that broke up the monotony happened the day before the festival was set to start. Some of the boys were leaving the classroom when they suddenly stopped.

“What’s going on?” Kirishima asked. The rest of class A crowded behind them. Izuku was positioned between Iida and Uraraka and he could just barely see what was going on outside of the room. A large group of students was blocking the hallway so that the class couldn’t exit without pushing through them.

“We’re here to scope out the competition.” One teen replied. His most striking features were the wild purple hair that stuck up almost vertically from his head as well as the eye bags that would put Aizawa to shame. “If we do well enough in the sports festival there is a chance that we will be transferred to the hero course. Since you all were in the news recently we figured we should come see you for ourselves.” Izuku stepped forwards, gently moving Kaminari and Kirishima out of his way. “Behold the new god of thunder.” The boy said sarcastically.

Izuku frowned, Muninn chirruped softly and Izuku nodded. “If you want a spot in the hero course there is one available. I ask that you do not try to intimidate my classmates the way that you are, Hitoshi Shinsou.” The purple haired teen blinked in confusion. “We will welcome the competition, but we have already had a rather eventful month and we’d like to have fun with the festival as we compete. Now please move, I’m sure we are all ready to go home after a long day.”

It was unclear whether it was Izuku’s status that cleared the way, or his words, but either way the group of students began to disperse. Class A left without further issue, but Izuku could tell that Shinsou was going to give him some problems later.

As Izuku left the next morning to get ready for the sports festival, Akatani stopped him. The older teen pulled his brother in for a hug and held him tight. “You’ve got this sparkplug, show them what you’re made of!” Izuku smiled and thanked his brother.

~SMALL TIME SKIP~

Izuku sat with the rest of his class in the waiting room while people flooded into the stadium. Muninn was chatting with Kouda and Huginn was perched on Izuku's shoulder. The other students were talking good naturedly amongst themselves. That was until Todoroki made his way over to Izuku. He tried to approach from Izuku’s blindspot, but the teen turned to face his classmate as if he had known he was there the whole time.

“Is there something that I can help you with Todoroki?” Izuku asked calmly. The rest of the conversations lowered to a murmur before cutting out entirely.

Todoroki stood for a moment looking at Izuku with a stoic expression. Finally he spoke. “I am stronger than you.” Izuku raised an eyebrow but did not interrupt. “Everyone has their eyes on you. All Might and that strange woman who showed up during the USJ incident. It’s because you picked up that hammer. I will beat you and show that I am stronger.”

Huginn and Muninn were both clearly agitated from what Todoroki said, but Izuku sent calming thoughts their way and they relaxed. The rest of the class was in an uproar as well, so Izuku held up his hand. The students stopped talking. “I will take your challenge Todoroki, but you discount the rest of our class. If you intend to get to me you must also get through them I’m afraid. As for Mjolnir I do draw power from it, but I can stand on my own if I need to. I won’t use my hammer during our fight, if you wish. You will learn as Bakugo has that I am strong in my own right. Look forward to it.”

With that the signal was given for them to enter the field. Present Mic called for their class with a grand flourish. He proceeded to do the same for the other classes as they entered the stadium to applause. Izuku found Akatani in the crowd and waved to him. His brother smiled large and waved back. Midnight got on stage and greeted the crowd. “Now we will have the highest scorer on the entrance exam give our opening pledge. Izuku Midoriya, if you would do the honors?”

Thankfully Valkyrie had made sure that he was prepared to give a speech. All Might had forgotten about it until the Asguardian warrior had asked if he needed to tell them something. Izuku wished he had had more than a few days to plan, but it was better than it being sprung onto him. He scaled the steps with a confident smile plastered on his face. In reality his anxiety was flaring badly, but he needed to put on a brave persona as the god of thunder. Huginn and Muninn flew to rest on the podium that Izuku was going to speak at and he was grateful for their presence. He could feel the stares of the audience as he carried Mjolnir with him. He reached the podium and adjusted the mic carefully.

“I am Izuku Midoriya. I am Magni Thorson. I am the god of thunder. I will become a hero that makes my father proud.” Izuku said. He could feel the shockwaves roll over the crowd as he admitted to being the son of Thor. He pressed on. “You too can be a hero. You can do great things. It does not matter what quirk you have, or if you have one at all. It does not matter if you become a professional hero or if you become a garbage man. You can save someone. Rescuing someone’s cat from a tree or giving them a compliment can save a life. Standing in solidarity for someone who needs help or even offering them a smile can give someone the strength to conquer whatever is troubling them. Anyone can be a hero. If you see someone in need of help, offer a hand to aid them. That is what my father would have wanted. Be the change that you want or need. Do your best and you will succeed. Now let’s get onto the games!”

The crowd roared and cheered. Izuku was sure that Akatani would describe it as “thunderous” just to make Izuku roll his eyes. The greenette took his place with his class. Several people patted his back and Kirishima commented that he was “So manly!”

Midnight returned to the stage clapping and smiling. “That’s what it’s all about folks! I couldn’t have said it better myself. Enough with the foreplay, let’s get to the first event!” There were several whistles and Midnight winked at the crowd. “For the first event we will be doing an obstacle race around the stadium! If our contestants would line up at the starting line for me then we can get this show on the road!”

The students did indeed line up and they all got ready to run. Present Mic gave them a countdown, the lights above the tunnel flashing from red to yellow to green. “3… 2… 1… GO!” The teens bolted for the tunnel. Many got stuck, both because everyone was trying to get through at the same time and because Todoroki spread ice at everyone’s feet, trapping many of them. This did not hamper Izuku however, because he had flown through the tunnel before Todoroki could even make his move.

The half and half boy scowled at Izuku and raced after him. Izuku realized that flying would likely ruin all of the obstacles, and he wanted to have a bit of fun, so he landed back on the ground and took off at a speed that would make pre-quirk runners ashamed.

“Our resident god of thunder has reached the first obstacle! Revenge of the robots!” Present Mic called out. “Take away the explanation Aizawa!”

The man in question sighed heavily. “In the entrance exam the students had to fight these robots to rack up points. They are going to slow down some of the contestants who do not have quirks suited for hand to hand combat.”

Izuku leapt over the first few robots, some one and two pointers, and dodged around the three pointers. The biggest problem for him would be the zero pointers. He could definitely slip past them if he wanted to, but he knew that many of his classmates would find them very difficult hurdles. He decided to level the playing field a bit.

“It seems that the son of Thor is unperturbed by the small fry robots, but what will he do about the giants blocking his path?” Present Mic commented. Izuku hefted Mjolnir and felt the thunder and lightning fill him. He waved the cosmic hammer in front of him horizontally with a mighty shout. Mjolnir carved through the treads of the zero pointers and sent them tumbling to the ground in front of him. “With an epic swing he tears them apart! Truly he is his father’s son! It looks like Todoroki is hot on his heels, but he’s off again! This is still anyone’s race folks!”

Izuku jumped over the broken bodies of the zero pointers and rushed towards the next obstacle. It appeared to be- “Next up is the pit of peril! Obviously the fall is safe, but it could be the death of the race for our intrepid storm god. Will he fly over it and render the obstacle inert, or will he take his chances crossing it? Let’s watch!”

Izuku smiled at the commentary and made up his mind. He’d give the audience a show and test himself a bit. He saw that there were tightropes across and came up with an idea. He threw Mjolnir across the chasm and ran to the nearest tightrope. He stuck out his arms and Huginn and Muninn flew to hands and gripped his fingers. He began to run across the tightrope and whenever he started to lean one way or the next, Huginn or Muninn would flap their wings and rebalance him.

It was nowhere near the best or fastest way of crossing the gulch, but Izuku figured that it would at least be interesting enough for the people watching and keep him at a good pace. It didn’t take him long to get to the other side, but by that time Todoroki had reached the edge of the pit. The dual boy held out his hand and a bridge of ice spread across to the other side. He ran across quickly, though Izuku was still able to keep a sizable lead.

“Now Midoriya is coming to the final challenge of our obstacle course: the minefield of misery!” Present Mic shouted, clearly very excited. “The mines are harmless, but tripping one would not be fun for anyone! What will Midoriya do?”

Huginn and Muninn flew above the field and Izuku kept his speed even as he approached the minefield. He weaved through the mines without touching a single one. Present Mic lost his mind. “HOW IS HE DOING THIS? MIDORIYA IS RUNNING AT FULL SPEED WITH NO FEAR! HE HASN’T SET OFF A SINGLE MINE! WHAT A FEAT OF ATHLETISM!”

Todoroki had to slow down as he approached the minefield. Even if he built a bridge across the field with his ice he was never going to catch up to the god of thunder. He glared at the other teen and picked his way across.

Izuku crossed the finish line with a smile. He waved at the crowd as they cheered for him. Present Mic continued to commentate. “Bakugo, who had been a sizable distance behind the front runners Todoroki and Midoriya, is catching up rapidly! If Todoroki doesn’t pick up the pace he might be surpassed!” In the end, Todoroki was able to eke out second place, much to Bakugo’s chagrin. The other students continued to trickle in as more people finished. Eventually Midnight came back out onto the stage.

“We’re now at 42 contestants, so we will have to unfortunately cut it off here. Don’t worry if you didn’t finish the race, we have plenty of opportunities for you to strut your stuff later in the festival!” The heroine gave a sad smile before perking up again. “For this next challenge, we will be doing an old classic: a cavalry battle! The points will start at 5 for 42nd place in the race, and continue to go up by 5 points for each place above that. There is but one exception” She paused for dramatic effect and the audience held their breath. “First place, our very own thunder god, has a point value of 10,000,000 points! If you have that headband at the end of the game, you are guaranteed to advance to the next round!”

Izuku looked around to see everyone staring at him with hungry eyes. His team was going to have to defend themselves from the entire student body. That was certain to make it difficult to find teammates. Midnight lashed out with her whip. “You all have five minutes to find your teams. Good luck!” Izuku sighed. He had a feeling that this was going to be a stressful five minutes.
