Chapter Text
The war was over, the temple of the God of Despair slowly vanished into thin air, and the White Star was gone, and so was Cale.
The group stood at the ground of the destroyed Puzzle City, they were all looking towards the sky, from where the temple of the God of Despair disappeared into. They were waiting, waiting for the hero, for Cale to return, but he never did. Cale disappeared along with their enemies, without even a single trace of where he could be.
“That crazy bastard.” Alberu hissed in frustration while running his fingers into his hair.
“Human..” Raon murmured sullenly, holding the apple pies with his front paws, waiting for his human, but he knew that something was wrong. He cannot feel him, there was the scent of his blood before the temple disappeared, but now it was gone. He couldn’t feel him, the young dragon unknowingly clenched his chubby front paws and the apple pies slowly crumbled into the ground.
“Noona, the human will return right?” Hong asked his sister with his eyes filled with tears, On just held her brother while looking towards the sky, from where everything, along with Cale, disappeared.
Eruhaben, Ron, and Mila just clench their fist and bite their lips to the point of bleeding. The dragons were desperately searching for Cale’s presence, but they couldn't feel anything, slowly filling them with agony and frustrations.
“Young master Cale.” Rosalyn and Mary had their hands on their mouths, with tear-stricken eyes.
“Cale-nim.” Choi Han whispered in the most agonizing voice, his eyes were wide and his hands lost color as he tightly clenched his fist.
Everyone was in a state of shock, and at the moment which is supposed to be filled with cheers and celebration, no one can utter a word.
It was done. The war was over, but the hero was gone as well.
----------------
At the same time, in a distant continent, a new prince was born, but instead of being filled with joy for the new life and the long-awaited heir, the Kingdom was filled with doubts.
The child was born with nothing similar to his parents, he had deep red hair, akin to the color of blood as well as reddish-brown eyes, which seem like they can see through everything, contrary to his mother who is donned with beautiful platinum blond hair and blue eyes, and his father who had vibrant black hair and a pair of golden eyes.
The child didn’t cry like how newborn children are supposed to. He just stared with those cold, all-knowing eyes, like he was observing what was happening around him. From the moment he was born, he radiates the aura of a ruler, even greater than the current king himself. However, he was different, and because of that, the path for him is far from being a flowery path to the throne, but one with dried-up land filled with thorns.
----------------
Three months passed since Cale’s disappearance and the Kingdom was making its way towards recovery. A celebration was held to commemorate their triumph, it was supposed to be filled with joy, yet only the nobles were present to celebrate. The people who had a big contribution to the war were nowhere to be found; it was just an empty celebration promoted by those in power to assure its citizens.
The Henituse dukedom didn’t hold any celebration, the sullen atmosphere remained. Their young master was gone, instead of a joyful celebration, the people grieved for the loss of their young master who became a shield that protected them at the cost of his life.
The common people and the nobles simply assumed that Cale died as a sacrifice to save them. But the group who were closest to him never gave up, they continued the search for Cale. Hoping that he’ll come back home one day.
At the Super rock’s mansion ---
“That damn God of Death!” Cage yelled in frustration, she had been waiting for the God of Death to communicate with her, but He never did. Not since Cale disappeared.
“I wonder if young master Cale is still alive..” Jack unknowingly whispered in a slip of tongue, earning a cold gaze from everyone in the room.
“Human is alive.” Raon
“He’ll come back!” Hong
Raon and Hong started to cry, while On just held her younger siblings while looking at the adults.
“I’m sorry,” Jack murmured.
Everyone knew that the children had it the hardest with Cale’s disappearance, they were closest to him, they felt his warmth the most, and Cale is the one who gave them more than what they yearned for.
It was then that Beacrox along with the wolf children carrying food came after that.
“It’s time to eat,” Beacrox said to the 3 children who looked at him with those teary eyes.
“I won’t eat.” Raon
“I’m not hungry.” Hong
On just shook her head, but Beacrox isn’t one to yield.
“The young master wouldn’t be happy if he found out that you weren’t eating your meals.” He said which stunned the three. They remembered Cale’s indifferent voice making sure that they had their meals on time, Cale who always made sure they ate a lot even when he didn’t eat much for himself, and Cale who gave them the first taste of bread and meat.
The three moved towards the prepared table and started to eat while their eyes filled up with tears at the memory of their beloved human.
Beacrox looked at everyone with his eyes telling them to leave the room.
As soon as they were out, Jack immediately apologized while the others simply nod as they were absorbed with their own thoughts.
“Please refrain from talking about the young master in front of the children.” Beacrox, they know full well that Cale cared so much for the children and he wanted to protect them above all, and that is exactly what the group was inclined to do.
“Is there any way to find out about what happened to Cale,” Alberu asked
“The God of Death stopped appearing in my dreams after the temple disappeared.” Cage answered
“Don’t you have any means to talk to him?” Hannah
“I already went to the temple, but I received nothing.”
Choi Han remained in silence, while Ron and Rosalyn just looked at him.
“The book . The God of Death’s divine item.” Choi Han looked at them with hopeful eyes.
“Maybe the book can help us.” Rosalyn
“The book was left with the young master.” Cage answered hesitantly, afraid to disappoint their hopeful eyes.
“If it’s with young master Cale, then, Raon..” Rosalyn
“It is possible that it is left with Raon.” Choi Han
The two looked at each other and immediately went on their way to Cale’s room.
“Raon, the book. The God of Death’s divine item.”
“Do you have it?”
“The book with an ominous aura? It’s here! The human left it with me!” Raon answered, bringing out the book, which Cage immediately got.
The book started to glow from the moment Cage had her hands on it. She immediately opened and read the only words written on it.
“ Life and Death stand on the opposite sides of the pole.”
“With Life comes death.”
“And”
“With Death comes Life.”
“One cannot exist without the other.”
“What does it mean?” Rosalyn
“With Death comes life..” Alberu thoughtlessly whispered before his eyes opened wide.
“Then, doesn’t this mean that Cale is alive? Is it possible that Cale is born again?” He added
And with that, a new hope was litten up. The possibility that Cale is alive and the possibility that they could have him back. It is something that gave them a new purpose.
They have to find Cale. They have to bring him back.
