The knock at Mirio’s door startled him for a second,after thinking for a few seconds he realized that it was probably Tamaki.
“Come in,” Mirio called as Tamaki opened the door and sat down on Mirio’s bed.
“How are you holding up?” Tamaki asked as Mirio grasped and squeezed his hand.
“Nothing but blue skies here Tama,” Mirio responded hoping to ease Tamaki’s worry as he forced a smile. Tamaki knew instantly that the smile was fake and that Mirio was probably doing this to ease his worry. He knew he should wait before pushing it though so he stayed silent as Mirio’s smile slowly started to crack.
After a while of silence Tamaki could tell that Mirio was trying really hard to keep a smile plastered on his face so he spoke up.
“Miri I love you so much,” Tamaki said, trying to ease into the conversation.
“I love you too,” Mirio replied, leaning closer into Tamaki and resting his head on his shoulder.
“Can you please drop the fake smile and talk to me, if you're not ready to talk about the raid that’s fine but bottling up emotions isn’t healthy love,” Tamaki gently explained.
“You’re right and like I’m trying so hard to be strong and smile for everyone but it feels like I’m tearing at the seams and I don’t know what else to do,” Mirio said fake smile dropping as tears started to roll down his face.
“Love you don’t need to be strong for me, you just need to be you and if that you is sad and crying or anything else I’ll be there with you through it all not just when you’re happy,” Tamaki responded as he wiped away the tears streaking down Mirio’s face. He then placed a kiss on Mirio’s forehead as Mirio turned to face him.
“Thanks Maki I think I needed more than I wanted to admit,” Mirio said, pulling Tamaki into a hug.
“Anytime sunshine I’ll always be here for you,” Tamaki whispered before pulling away from the hug. It was then that they realized how late it was and that they both had a lot to do tomorrow.
“We should probably go to sleep soon,” Tamaki said, moving to get up from the bed before Mirio grabbed his wrist.
“Could you maybe stay the night?” Mirio asked with hope filled eyes, as Tamaki’s eyes flickered between his and the door.
“Of course I’ll stay the night Miri,” Tamaki said as they both slipped under the covers.
“Night I love you Tama,” Mirio said curling into Tamaki’s embrace.
“Love you too sunshine good night,” Tamaki said, closing his eyes. Soon they both fell into peaceful dreamless sleep safe in each other's embrace.
