Work Text:

If Diluc was asked what his favorite color was, most people would say red or black. While it’s true that he preferred to use red for accessories and black for his clothes, he would say they were wrong. Absolutely undeniably wrong.

His favorite color was actually purple. To him, purple was the color of the sky before the sun awoke from its slumber. Purple was the color of the grapes flourishing and thriving in his vineyards. Purple was the color of young wine freshly made and yet to age. Violet was the color of the refreshing grape juice that he so greatly enjoyed after a long day. But the purple most dear to him, the one he loved the most, was her .

Purple was the color of her dress that swayed with the rhythm of her walk as she handed in her work for the day. Purple was the color of her gloves that held her sword steady as she steeled herself for battle. Thunder-soothing violet was the color of her electro vision that shone with conviction as she faced any foe. A soft, feathery lavender was the color of the elegant quill she used to write words of great power for the future of Liyue. Gloss-coated purple was the color of her heels that clicked against the floor of his mansion as she danced with him. A subtle periwinkle was the color of the tassel on her choker she always fidgeted with when she was nervous. Lilac was the color of her locks tangled up in his fingers. Amethyst was the color of her eyes that lit up whenever he told her “I love you.”

"Diluc, tell me. Why is your favorite color purple?" she asked him one early morning on the balcony at the Dawn Winery mansion. He could see from the glint in her eyes that she was already quite familiar with the answer.

Diluc felt a warm feeling in his chest grow as he laid his eyes on her. She was always so breathtaking, especially during the dawn when her long lavender hair would match that of the lilac sky above them.

He replied to her with a fond smile, "Well, Keqing, my love, purple is the color of the dawn I always rise to and you remind me of it. You are like a new beginning- you are the light I never knew I needed in my life. Your whole existence means so much to me."

Although she had heard the answer many times before, her eyes shone with the same light as when he told her the first time. Keqing smiled as reached up to wrap her arms around his neck. Diluc tilted his head down, so their foreheads were touching.

"Diluc, you're too sweet. You’re making me blush," Keqing said softly to him, "But that’s what I like about you. I love you."

Diluc slowly cupped her face with his hands as his thumb gently brushed away the strand of hair on her cheek. She gazed up to meet his scarlet eyes, awaiting his response.

"I love you too," Diluc whispered before he leaned forward and kissed her tenderly. Keqing pulled him closer as if his presence was all that mattered.

The two of them remained like that for a while, interlocked in each other's embrace as the sun rose in the purple sky.

Notes:

Thank you so much for reading this! I was awed by the positive response I received from my previous Diluc/Keqing fic, so I wanted to write more about them <3
Hopefully, if I have the energy to, I want to write an AU I've planned about them hehe
