Chapter Text

Loud alarms startled class 2-A awake. Izuku stumbled out of bed and looked at his clock. 2am he thought rushing out of his room when he heard his classmates doors open. Three loud beeps in a row meant to evacuate and meet at the evacuation point. Izuku rushed out. The evacuation point was a bench before the trees in the forest. Izuku felt like everyone was buzzing around and it was chaos. His classmates all around him yelling over the screeching noise as they ran down the stairs and rushed out the door. Izuku stepped out into the cold night in only his pajamas and shoes half on with no socks. There was no time to think of comfort. Iidia was yelling over everyone to get to the meeting point. Izuku was rushed off with everyone else.

Their teacher rushed them into the trees for cover.

Somehow Aizawa was fully dressed and in gear. He was an insomniac and usually worked at night, but it was still disorienting to see his class with bedhead and wide eyes contrasted to an actual hero who was focused and serous.

“The school is under attack. They started in the main building so everyone is being evacuated into safe zones. There is an emergency tunnel that’s going to take you to a safe zone. We have to be quick. Nezu analyzed the attackers. He says they are nemu with excellent hearing, but they can’t see. So, once we start be quiet- “

“Sir!” Izuku exclaimed after looking around.

Aizawa looked furious at the interruption. They were running out of time.

“Not now problem child. As I was saying- “

Izuku could not let him finish “Kacchan is not here!” he exclaimed interrupting his teacher again.

Aizawa scanned his students and froze. He cursed under his breath for not paying more attention.

“Go to the woods. Stay low and quiet. I'll go get him. Right now, you are not heroes you are children, and your ONLY goal is to stay alive.” He hissed.

The alarms were going off in all the buildings, so it was distracting the Numu for now.

Izuku stepped forward and grabbed his teachers’ sleeve “He overused his quirk and made really loud explosions. His body protects his hearing by blocking out loud noises, but when he overuses it. He’s deaf.” Izuku warned his teacher.

Aizawa wanted to groan because of course it would happen in the worst possible time.

“I’ll get the kid. Stay low and QUIET” he hissed out before running back to the dorms.

He could see the Nemu approaching the front door so Aizawa switched his route quickly and rushed to the side of the building. He snuck in through the window. He was an underground hero and good at his job. Even his shoes were specifically designed to be silent. As Aizawa rushed to the third floor avoiding the Nemu. He realized he was about to wake his loudest student up. He suppressed a groan and pushed himself to go faster up the stairs.

Teachers had a universal key that opened every door, so he tapped his key card and quietly opened snuck in and closed the door to Katsuki’s room. He looked around the spotless room and sighed in relief when he saw his student still asleep in his bed.

He walked over to the sliding glass door of the balcony and opened it. If this kid started screaming, they would need to get out fast.

As he approached the kid. Innocently curled up on his bed he felt his heart constrict. He was just a kid that had been through so much and now he was going to have to trust and rely on others like never before.

Aizawa jumped when he heard doors breaking open. They were getting closer. He thought.

Aizawa shook the kid awake and when the boy sat up quickly confused and startled Aizawa put his hand on his mouth to keep him quiet.

Aizawa gave him a look telling him to keep quiet and when Katsuki nodded he pulled back and signed.

‘Don’t make any noise. We are being attacked. Hold on to me. Do you understand?’

Katsuki looked confused but did not open his mouth. Aizawa flinched then looked at Katsuki desperately before signing again ‘Understand!’ more harshly.

Katsuki knew something was happening outside his door from Aizawa’s flinch and desperate posture, but he could not hear anything. He could feel his breath catch, but he still nodded.

Aizawa got closer and wrapped an arm around Katsuki pulling him closer and lifting him up like a scared child.

Katsuki reluctantly wrapped his arms around his teachers neck and his legs around his torso burring his face in the crook of his neck.

Aizawa stood up and felt Katsuki stiffen at the sudden movement but could not comfort him now. The bangs were dangerously close. So, he rushed out to the balcony used his capture weapon to hold onto the railing and jumped down.

Katsuki tightened his grip on his teacher not expecting the sudden drop of his stomach as they plummeted down three floors only to slow right before they hit the ground. Aizawa never stopped the second his feet hit the floor he was rushing towards the forest.

Izuki felt relieved when he saw his teacher carrying his childhood best friend. His anxiety was pumping through his veins he hated doing nothing. He wanted to rush in and save him himself the second he realized he wasn't with the class.

Aizawa made it to the clearing and lowered Katsuki to the ground. The kid growled and was shot with a glare to keep quiet.

Katsuki harshly signed ‘what’s going on?’

Aizawa lifted his hands to respond but suddenly stopped. Everyone turned their heads to the opening looking confused and concerned.

Katsuki wanted to scream. He had no idea what was going on. Clearly something was happening he could not hear anything. He felt anxious. His palms were sweating wanting to explode which was not useful at this moment. He took a shaky breath. Aizawa turned back to him with petty in his eyes. Clearly his breathing was louder than he thought.

Aizawa raised his hands again talking to the whole class in sign ‘they must have figured out how to cut the alarms. We need to be extremely silent, or we could get ourselves or someone else killed.’ He turned more to Katsuki addressing him directly ‘stay with me but if I have to go stay with your classmates.’

Katsuki must have made a noise in his anger because his arm was squeezed in warning before they started walking into the woods.

As they made their way into the woods it started getting darker. Soon Katsuki was going to be blind and deaf. Once that realization slammed into him his feet stopped moving. He could not do this! He could not go any further. He would rather fight whatever is out there then to feel that vulnerable.

Aizawa grabbed his arm startling him and he instinctively let off sparks from his hands. The hand grabbing him tightened uncomfortably before he was picked up and thrown over his teacher’s shoulders.

Once the shock of being picked up and yanked around wore off, he looked up and could see everyone running. His classmates looked terrified and that only scared him more. He could see shadows in the woods but could not make out what was out there. Whatever it was it was fast and big.

They stopped abruptly and Katsuki was placed on the floor. It was too dark to sign. He could barely see silhouettes. He felt Aizawa’s hot breath and knew he must be whispering.

Aizawa brought Katsuki over to Shouto and whispered quickly.

“Keep your hands on him. He should be able to recognize your body temperature over anyone else he’ll know its you. You can’t grab him suddenly so keep holding on no matter what.” Aizawa brought his hand down from Katsuki’s shoulder to his hand then pulled it into someone else’s.

Katsuki flinched then relaxed a little when he realized it was Icyhot. His cold hand wrapped around his.

Aizawa stepped away and grabbed a branch revealing a trap door. He made a wide motion telling the students to go.

It was dark enough in the forest and now Aizawa was telling him to go into a pitch-black hole. He tightened his grip on Shout’s hand and watched the students jump in.

Once everyone but the three of them were in he felt Shouto pull him towards the darkness. His breath caught and he planted his legs. He did not even notice he was shaking until Icyhot pulled him into a hug.

“He’s shaking.” Shouto whispered barely loud enough for Aizawa to catch.

Aizawa wanted to comfort his kids but right now his priority was to keep them alive. He motioned for Shouto to get into the hole again.

Shouto took a step forward forcing Katsuki to take a step back. Katsuki made a barely audible whine that was painfully full of fear and panic.

Aizawa and Shouto stiffened and looked back. Before Katsuki could even think he was pulled into the hole and the small door was closed leaving them in pitch blackness.

Katsuki tried to look around for any source of light or for his eyes to adjust but nothing happened. He could feel Shouto holding him against his chest, but he could not see him. He was inches from his face, but Katsuki could see nothing but inky blackness. He felt like the darkness was suffocating. He could not breathe, see, or hear. He was going to die.

That was it. He would not get to be a hero because he was going to die. He felt himself spiral into a panic attack.

Suddenly he closed his eyes in pain when there was a sudden light then blinked to see a little flame coming off Shout’s finger. Aizawa was there and he was on the floor clinging to Shouto like his life depended on it. He could see shadows of probably his classmates behind Aizawa, but that just added to his panic. What is it was other people he did not know?

Aizawa projected his movements and grabbed Katsuki hand and pulled it to his chest and took a deep breath. He signed telling Katsuki to breath.

Katsuki glared at him. If he could he would be breathing all along. He thought bitterly to himself.

The small light and Aizawa’s breathing calmed him down enough to realize how embarrassed he was.

Katsuki was sitting on Shout’s lap gripping his shirt with one hand while the boy rubbed his back with his cold hand and kept the small flame with his other. Aizawa was crouched in front of him holding Katsuki’s hand to his chest. Katsuki pulled away and wiped the tears from his face with the back of his pajama shirt. He wanted to crawl in a hole and die. He may not be able to see anyone but right now he was literally in the spotlight and could feel all eyes on him.

Katsuki turned and buried his head in Shoutos shoulder and probably whined. He could feel his vocal cords vibrating.

Aizawa pulled him back and motioned for everyone to pay attention.

He started singing ‘Shouto can use his flame to help but we can’t rely on it just in case the tunnels are compromised. These tunnels will lead us to safety. Let’s go.’

Aizawa turned to Katsuki holding out his hand. Katsuki took it and was pulled up. He felt shaky but tried to ignore it.

Shouto kept the lead as they navigated down multiple pitch-black hallways. Aizawa kept squeezing Katsuki’s hand giving him some comfort. There was a shake and vibration. Shoutos flame went out and Katsuki was picked up by Aizawa and physically handed over to someone. There was a hand grabbing his and then he was yanked into a run. He looked back and he could see yellow light and villains coming closer, but Aizawa stood there with his capture weapon to block the villains and save them.

Katsuki tried to stop and go back. They could not leave Aizawa alone. They had to help him. But he was yanked forward. Whoever was holding his arm was strong practically dragging Katsuki into a turn and down a dark pathway.

Katsuki was once again winded and in darkness being yanked around by an unknown stranger. He could feel vibrations so a loud noise or an explosion. The grip on his arm tightened and they were running even faster in the dark.

They came to a stop and Katsuki ran into someone and fell backwards. He hated being held and yanked around, but he hated being alone in the dark more. His brain told him logically he was with his class, but he could not see or hear them, and he was suddenly terrified. He knew he had to keep quiet, so he bit his lip and flinched away when hands grabbed him. He did not know who they were. What if it was a villain? He managed to scoot back into a wall and curl up into a ball. This was the worst. He thought bitterly.

“Fucking only Shouto!” he tried to whisper, but was not sure how loud he was being. He should have been quiet but hands grabbing him in the dark was going to send him into another panic attack and he might end up sparking his sweaty palms and everyone will be screwed.

Katsuki felt the cold shift around him, and he relaxed and held out his hand. Shouto was awkwardly looking for a standing Katsuki his hands out in front of him reaching in the direction of the voice. Shouto flinched when Katsuki grabbed his calf. He slowly leaned down and reached for the hand holding his calf and held it in his cold hand before he pulled Katsuki up.  He led Katsuki further into the darkness.

They stopped again and a minute later there was square light above them and a ladder leading to it. Katsuki insisted everyone go before him with his glares. Everyone went up except Izuku who of course had to be as stubborn as he was.

They were having a staring contest, but Izuku flinched and looked down the hall past Katsuki. Suddenly Izuku picked Katsuki up and jumped into the light and closed the gap.

Katsuki glared and shoved him away getting his feet back on the ground. Being momentarily deaf did not give everyone the right to man-handle him. He glared at everyone else for that matter for looking at him like he was some defenseless. He could blow them all up right now if he wanted to. He was not weak!

Everyone must have heard something because they all flinched and rushed around like moths. Katsuki was again yanked around. He found himself under a desk squished between Izuku and Shouto. They tensed and Katsuki held his breath. Someone was clearly there. He saw feet of people walk by. He did not know what was going on, but he waited. He had just now noticed they were in some kind of office. He had been so caught up he did not even observe his surroundings which he thought was drilled into his head. Eventually Shouto and Izuku relaxed. They got out from under the desk keeping low and ushered Katsuki out of the office, down a hallway and into another room.

Shouto turned to Katsuki and signed.

The tunnels are compromised so we can’t get out. There is a panic room in the teachers’ lounge where we can call the police.’

Katsuki nodded ‘lead the way.’

Katsuki looked around and wanted to snort. The lights were on and there were twenty students in pajamas sneaking around. How they did not get caught in the office Katsuki did not know.

They snuck down a few halls and into the teachers lounge. Kirishima seemed to know where the hidden keypad was and pushed a few buttons. Everyone looked back and Katsuki followed their gaze then widened his eyes. The mirror was gone and there was an opening.

Everyone tensed and then started rushing. Katsuki was shoved into the weird opening and pulled around some more. They were settled in a metal panic room that was furnished with couches and beds. There were computer screens and a red phone.

Everyone sagged in relief and were talking. Iidia was clearly giving everyone instructions. They were typing and calling and talking.

Katsuki just stood there in the middle of the room awkwardly.

Were they safe? Could he talk? Was Aizawa and the rest of the school okay?

Shouto walked over to him and slowly reached out and grabbed his hand pulling him over to the bed in the corner of the room. It gave him a view of everyone around.

We got hold of Aizawa he’s alive. Backup already came and are arresting everyone. We will probably be here for an hour or so  because they still have to round up the Nomu.

Katsuki felt his shoulders relax and leaned on to Shouto's shoulder.

Katsuki know everyone was giving him worried glances, but he could not seem to move or care. He sat there leaning on Shouto. He felt out of his body. It was like he was watching everything happen from behind a screen. People tried to sign to him, but he could not get himself to respond. His hearing was coming back so he could hear muffled noises like he was underwater.

It could have been a few minutes or hours before the door opened. Everyone tensed for a moment then sagged in relief.

Aizawa walked in with the other pro heroes. They were beat up but alive. Aizawa walked over to Katsuki and sat down.

‘Everyone’s safe. You were very brave. Are you okay?’ he signed.

Katsuki just stared at him blinking. Everything felt like a blur.

Aizawa reached out with both arms and pulled Katsuki into a hug.  Katsuki seemed to have lost it. He felt like he was shoved back into his body, and it was all too much. The adrenaline and fear. He felt like all the panic attacks he shoved back came on full force. His breath shook then he was crying into Aizawa’s neck. He was safe. His teacher was alive. His hearing was coming back. But he could not stop the tears. Aizawa pulled him closer on his lap and held the boy as he bawled into his shirt.

Katsuki must have cried himself to sleep because he woke up the next day in the teachers’ dorms. He rubbed his eyes and looked around. Aizawa was squished to the wall with Katsuki practically on him and Shouto and Izuku on the bed too. He sat up and saw the whole class was there sleeping.

The Baku squad were huddled together near the couch and the floor was covered in blankets and students.

Katsuki smiled when he noticed that he could hear the subtle snoring coming from a few of the students.

He never relied on anyone. Did not trust anyone but himself. But if he had to, these idiots were the best people he could maybe rely on.
