Tommy rubbed his arms to prevent the cold bite of the wind from hitting his skin, dressed only in his iconic red and white shirt and some jeans he had three together hours prior. The meetup was planned last minute, when one of Wilburs plans for the band fell through so he had a free day, so he Wilbur, Phil and George had decided to do another vlog for Tommy's channel. What he didn't anticipate, however, was the sudden change in weather as the sun hid behind the clouds at dinnertime, and the wind picked up in speed. This left the lanky boy in the chilly outdoors waiting for the others to show up.
They had decided to do a vlog in town, and the other three would meet him there and were set to arrive in the next few minutes, Tommy's dad having dropped him off there around 10 minutes ago. In the distance he heard the shrill and endearing laugh from his online brother, and saw the tall man leading the group of three towards the corner Tommy was standing on, still unseen by the trio.
"Tommy!" He heard George shout from afar and spotted the enthusiastic looking man jogging towards him, clearly intending to hug the boy. "Gogy!" He yelled back, laughing whilst doing so and shifting away from his resting position on the wall. Suddenly a smaller figure collided into him and the air flew out of his lungs as George squeezed him in greetings. The warmth from another body made Tommy relax into the contact as he awkwardly hugged back, leaning more into the touch, only for the man to pull away and look up at him. "I regret running now…" George said as he panted, still out of breath. Behind him, Tommy spotted the other two men, strolling leisurely towards the pair in a much more civilised manner. "You're such a child Gogs", Wilbur said. "You could have walked mate, Tommy ain't going anywhere" Phil responded light heartedly, with a chuckle. They finally reached Tommy and George and Phil walked straight towards Tommy, going for a more abstract side hug, as he ruffled the blondes hair. The warmth radiating from Phil was so comforting that Tommy felt his eyes close for longer than necessary, revelling in the contact which he severely lacked elsewhere. Eventually he pulled away, which would disappoint Tommy if not for the instant hug which proceeded this from the last man.
Wilbur, being the 6'5 man that he is, still towered over Tommy despite his own height, which (in Tommy's opinion) made him the best at hugs, as he could completely encase him in his body heat and make anybody he hugs feel safe and at home. Not that he would ever tell him that to his face, since he cared for his pride thank you very much. Ignoring his childish tendencies and needs was a must for the Tommyinnit persona, as a 'Big Man'.
The hug lasted longer than the other two, as Tommy's face was smooshed into Will's shoulder and the latter rocked them side to side slowly as if soothing him. The scent of his hoodie reminded Tommy of being in a warm house on a stormy day, sweet but also like rain. It was amazing. Inevitably, as the other two did, Wilbur pulled away from their embrace to continue their tasks for today, creating a hilarious vlog.
This was not a problem for the group, their dynamics were strong, so bits they created were natural and not forced. Wilbur having met them all and acting like the glue for them all, which Tommy enjoyed a lot. He admired his friend (brother) a lot. At one point the temperature dropped even more, forcing the youngest boy to almosy vibrate as he shivered, finally unable to hide his struggle.
"What's up?" Phil asked with a concerned look on his face.
"Uhh… I forgot my coat" Tommy responded sheepishly. George huffed out a laugh, uttering something that sounded like 'idiot' to noone in particular, and Wilbur began taking off his large, oversized sweater to hand to the youngest.
"Ay ay, I'm fine Big man, you'll be cold" Tommy hesitated, Will's arm still extended, urging Tommy to take it.
"If you don't fucking take it I'll put it on you like a child" He deadpanned. Tommy knew he was deadly serious, recalling the time Will had put on his shoes for him when he proclaimed he was too tired.
"Fine" he rolled his eyes, slipping the fabric over his head and sighing at the warmth it brought. Not just due to the extra layer but the idea that he was wearing somebody else's sweater, it felt like their presence was constantly with you. It assured that everything would be fine and you never had to worry about anything outside of walking. Tommy gripped the ends of the sleeves in sweater paws, which George noticed almost immediately. "You've joined the dark side, you'll never get enough of oversized hoodies now" and brought the boy to his side in a moment of affection. People often thought the short brit to be quite apathetic and not affectionate, but this was all a front (as Tommy had experienced), the man craved attention and validation through touch, and reassured others with the same.
Later in the evening, the boys gathered in Wilburs apartment, watching some romance movie which Tommy attested to, but Phil had demanded. The old man was clearly getting more sappy with age. His eyes felt heavy as the warmth of the apartment encased him, the eventful day had exhausted him of his energy. If anyone noticed Tommy's head dropping every now and then and jolting back up to look at the screen again they said nothing. Sitting between Wilbur and George on the small couch, Tommy debated with his options. He could inevitably fall asleep involuntarily and embarrass himself, he could lean against George (who was quite a bit smaller than him) or Wilbur. Deciding to go with the latter, he hesitantly moved his head towards Will's shoulder. It was so inviting beside him, but the worry that the taller would turn him away or reject his touch was scary. After a few seconds, he felt a hand push his head to the side onto the shoulder. Glancing beside him, Tommy saw Phil with his fatherly smile looking between the boys. George was still quite focussed on the movie.
"Awww" Wilbur cooed aside him. Tommy felt the blush creep up his ears as he hid his face in the shoulder he was rested on in embarrassment. A content sigh left his lips despite the predicament, and Will placed his hand atop the kids head in awe. He had never thought Tommy would crave touch as he did, but it didn't put him off. Tommy almost purred like a cat when Wilbur began scratching his head, coaxing his eyes closed and out of consciousness. The tired boy tried to force it away as he wanted to enjoy the moment, but Will interrupted his thoughts.
"Sleep, Sunshine" he whispered.
The four sat on the cramped couch in the early nights and were content. They were all glad that they had met their family online and were so blessed to be able to meet up. The moment was special.
